Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beyond all my expectations!!!

Honestly, there is nothing about this resort that I did not like. The ability to go between the Tropical, Colonial, Caribe and Beach resort was amazing as it did not feel like you were trapped on a tiny resort. The grounds and buildings are beyond stunning. No matter where my wife and I walked, we were amazed by the beauty of it. The beaches were well groomed and offered a lot of seating, rocky areas, cleared areas, there is something for everyone. Neither my wife or I had any complaints ab [... read more]out the food, we always found something we liked and it was always delicious. Staff throughout the resort is friendly and helpful. We were avid cruisers and wanted to try something new and this resort blew away all our expectations. While we may not have much experience to compare this to other resorts, we have certainly talked to many people with horror stories from other resorts and I was overjoyed by the experience we had here.

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: Beautiful Resort

My son and daughter in law got married here, it was beautiful. Everything was so lovely and delicious. The grounds are kept clean, food was amazing, the beaches although small were spotless and lovely. Could have been a few more chairs available but we found one most days. The water park for the kids was so fun and the slides were a hit. Had a great vacation.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Great Family Vacation

The resort itself was clean, a little difficult to navigate around, we got lost a few times. Figured it out by the time it was time to go. Buffet food was ok, we were very disappointed with the resort when it came to booking restaurants. We were told many different things.. 1. booking opens 8am daily to reserve a spot first come first serve. 2. bookings open at midnight 3. You need to book 1 week in advance from your trip only if you are elite. So we were very board with having buffet food the [... read more] entire trip. The pools were nice, staff were very friendly. The shuttle could have been more consistent. Sometimes you only waited 5 mins other times you had to wait 20 mins. Most of our group could walk but we did have 2 with some mobility issues and walking wasn't always an option. The spa was amazing! The couples massage was far beyond what we expected and would do it again. The gym was very nice, but get there early or you won't be able to do a proper work out due to the lack of equipment. The beach was beautiful! Soft white sand and clear warm water. We would come back again, knowing what we know now about the restaurants we will be more prepared.

Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun by Royalton: Wonderful Vacation !!

Clean, wide spread out resort. We stayed in a Star Class room which I loved as we had access to the Star Class beach (gorgeous and loved the beach gentleman that brought us drinks all the time lol), bars and restaurants. As 2 adults travelling I would recommend as there are not as many kids around on the beach. Restaurants were fabulous (Indian was our favorite), rooms were clean and have been maintained considering the turn over. Las Brisas Huatulco: Really nice resort for active people

Definitely not a luxury resort but still good quality. Best suited to active people without mobility issues as there is a lot of walking, stairs and hills unless you want to be taking a shuttle all the time (even though the shuttles are great). Overall the food was good but often the pre-prepared items at the buffet were lukewarm or cold and not always fresh which was so disappointing. We quicky learned to stick to the omlet station for your morning eggs and to go to the lunch buffet as soon  [... read more]as it opened so that food was still warm. Our only dinner at the buffet was cold so we didn’t go again but the restaurants were much better. Our room in the Mar section was huge and comfortable with great balcony views. The beaches are great for swimming. We refused to join the lounge chair game of reserving early but still managed to get a spot somewhere even though it could be a challenge. Lovely staff and extremely friendly Canadian and Mexican vacationers were a highlight of our trip.

Krystal Grand Los Cabos: Lovely Resort

Beautiful atmosphere! Great staff, always around to help ! Beach was at the edge of the resort! Perfect size if you want a quieter experience! Only issue we had are the pool chairs. Very hard and thin little cushions!

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Had an amazing time!

This hotel was huge but the grounds were so beautiful and full of wildlife that walking it wasn’t bad at all! The food was amazing at the buffet and the à la carte restaurants were even better! Drinks were super good! Staff was all very friendly and accommodating! Nothing bad to say about this resort! I will definitely be back!

Dreams Bahia Mita Surf and Spa: Beautiful resort but not worth the money

We upgraded to Preferred which offered nothing. Advertising shows Sip, Savour, See which promises access to additional restaurants by reserving with concierge which was not honoured by resort. Disappointing.

Riu Dunamar: Family had a blast! But it had its issues

Clean, friendly staff, buffet could use a step up. Espresso machines at the buffet broke down often. It took a long time for staff to replenish hot items that were in demand so it had long line ups. The great thing is the restaurants! No reservations needed way in advance. The beach is clean and great! They have fun pools and games. The kids club was fun! So were the parties “The sports bar” needs to be called “the off hours place to give you food since we don’t do room service” and [... read more] I mean it has microwaves for you to heat up cold hamburgers and hot dogs. Lots of great things to do and fun entertainment!

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta

We went to Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta in February 2026. When we got there we were giving a very small room with no balcony in the old part of the resort. The room was very small & dark. The next day the toilet would not flush, the sink would not drain. Then the light in the bathroom was not working. We went to reception & they said they would fix things. The next day we were still having issues & we talked to the manager & he gave us a different room in the main building. This room was much l [... read more]arger & had a balcony. It was much better. The adult pool was amazing. They even had a foam party in the pool. The beach was nice but the ocean was very rough. It was difficult to go swimming. The food was great but we had to book the A La Carte every morning at 7:00 for each day. The app would not work to alow us to do the bookings on it. We had a great vacation.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great resort!

Loved the resort start to finish. Multiple pools. Beautiful beach to walk. Food was plentiful. If you couldn't find something to eat ,your problem. Multiple bars & washrooms. I loved the whole experience because I wanted relaxation. I did not want to come home. I will go back again next year to Grand Decameron Complex.

Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta: Beautiful older resort - oceanfront rooms and a great location

We spent 10 days at the FA in early February, with our adult daughter and her boyfriend. This was our second time there, the first being nearly 20 years ago. This is a very nice, relatively large but compact resort that was built around 1960 and has been very well maintained. All rooms above about the 2nd floor have oceanfront views with balconies – gorgeous; the lower rooms have larger balconies that are good for families but their views may be blocked by trees or buildings. Opt for a room o [... read more]n the northern side (higher numbers), as they will give you a view too over Puerto Vallarta town. This is not a party resort (though access to the bars and clubs of Puerto Vallarta is easy) – more a place to chill out and relax. There is one large pool with a small shallow kiddie section and swim up bar, and an adult pool above the buffet building reserved for fiesta club members (those paying more for rooms on the top 3 floors). All pools are fairly shallow – not made for swimming laps. The beach is about the best in the old Hotel Zone, although when we were there, the ocean was unusually rough and no one was swimming. You can walk quite a ways both north and south along the beach. Food: The breakfast buffet is excellent and fiesta club members can sit on an outside terrace directly overlooking the ocean. Lunch is in the same buffet area (more limited choices), plus there is food in the snack bar near the pool, at the fiesta club adult pool, and at the seafood (La Cevichería) restaurant. For dinner, there are 4 restaurants – Italian (very good), Asian (very good but inside), Mexican (alright) and the new Azur restaurant for fiesta club members (very mixed reviews – we didn’t try it). There is also a café in the lobby, serving real espresso, cappuccino…, some fruit and pastries, and in the afternoon, soft ice cream. The wine is drinkable (better than most AI resorts) and alcohol is of good quality (idem). In the evening, a very pleasant bar right overlooking the ocean serves for fiesta club members with somewhat higher class alcohol and a bit of finger food, located above the Cevicheria restaurant. In addition, the large lobby bar serves all clients with a wide choice of drinks. Vegetarians and vegans: The resort makes a small effort to accommodate them in all restaurants and the waiters generally know the ingredients of all dishes. Vegetarians in search of protein will eat tons of cheese and eggs, while vegans will go without (or eat outside the resort). The Italian and Asian restaurants are best for them, although the Asian restaurant strangely does not have tofu and watch out for their Pad Thai without the meat – they use a fish-based sauce to flavor it. The Mexican restaurant has few black beans and they are cooked with lard (no veggie beans available). However, in the lunch Cevichería fish restaurant, they cooked for us good veggie quesadillas, fries and provided guacamole – none of which were on the menu. Staff were invariably great: efficient (including the front desk), fun to talk with – great workers. You should know that salaries are very low for most of these jobs and they often spend a good hour each way coming to work and going home after long days of work. Please tip generously – they deserve it. For me, the biggest advantage of this resort is its location. You are 100 to 150 pesos by taxi (/uber) from the center of town (maybe a 10-minute ride) and, if you walk 200 meters to the right down the street, you can catch public buses downtown (direction “centro” or, for only the romantic zone, “tunel”) for 10 pesos (use exact change). Across the street a bit to the right is the Plaza Caracol shopping center that caters to local Mexicans, with a large grocery store (Soriana) and a good selection of booze (much cheaper than in the airport duty free). Sunscreen there costs about half that in the FA store. Despite the overall quality of the FA, I’d urge everyone to get out – walk the Malecon over to the romantic zone, have a dinner or two out, visit the art galleries, listen to music in the evening, etc. Very good restaurants (all with some veggie options) include: Modest: Calmate (with excellent healthy options for vegetarians and vegans, plus for meat eaters). Moderate: La Traviata Italian restaurant (on top of an older hotel roof with great views of sunset) and Archie’s Wok right beside the pier. More expensive (reservations often necessary): Barcelona Tapas (great sunset views), Hacienda San Angel (beautiful, with mariachis), La Capella (gorgeous sunset views directly overlooking the main church and the ocean), Trio (quite limited veggie options), and Café des Artistes (maybe the top restaurant in town, with high prices).

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort

The resort was beautiful. Gardens impeccably maintained. All staff were warm and friendly. Rooms were spacious, beds very comfortable. Excellent food, offering many choices on the buffets. The beach was special as there was lots of marine life. We enjoyed it so much that we are planning to return next year.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very enjoyable bacation

We stayed for a week Feb 5th to 12. This is my second stay at the resort and I come because of the people. The resort staff are outstanding from the trolley drivers consideration to everyone's needs to the restaurant staff they are working hard but still approach with a smile and kind word The rooms are getting outdated it they are clean we needed some towels and within 10 minutes they were at the door We always had a full minibar and 3 bottles of water The other thing which was important  [... read more]to me as I have mobility issues there is a elevator in each building The food is good variety but if your picky it may challenge you There are 3 restaurants open for breakfast when we were there when I was there a little off season only 2 were open There is a coffee shop that is included that make great coffee and various drinks much like Starbucks Speciality restaurants are excellent there is a ap so you can sign up for your convenience just go to the concierge they will str you up Entertainment varies throughout the week There is a central bar in the evening with entertainment in the theatre right there The beach is smaller and there is during peak season loungers are required to be claimed early in the morning this in all resorts I have experienced There is the beach with a large pool where activities are all day long a restaurant for breakfast andunch A smaller Pool is at building 7 and is quieter you will have to put at 6 am to get a chair There is shuttles that run all day long as it is a big resort If you like walking you will definitely get your steps in As well a well appointed gym is available and the spa is in the same building I love this place but I am not high maintenance and what's important to me might not be for you I enjoy happy helpful friendly staff which with.a smile you will find here Oh yes don't forget to tip they work really hard

Hilton Cancun All Inclusive Resort: Not my favourite

I have been to many 5 star resorts in Cancun and Mayan riviera. This is one of the few I wouldn’t return to. The hotel architects/owners have obviously optimized managing guests , food, entertainment and repairs for maximum efficiency (for the hotel). So for guests it lacks interest//charm/variety. The hotel gives an impression of cleanliness and modernity but this is in large measure simply because it is only four years old. The same large dead moth remained on my floor for the duration. Th [... read more]e pool is difficult to access and the jacuzzis dirty grey every day. The “swim-out” pools are just plain weird. Shallow and hard to access. Hotel management attempts to charge preposterous prices for the few special activities like “tequila tasting” that would be free elsewhere. Honestlly, it’s like hotel management is under pressure to make/save $ and they don’t know how/can’t. On the plus side, the rooms and showers are spacious, tvs large and the hvac system is excellent. Staff aims to be professional. Beach is not the worst.

Grand Oasis Palm: Hotel review

Hotel is dated. No chairs at pools. Food was not good. The slides in the kids section were only open for 10 mins everyday. Beach was dirty every morning. Nothing for kids to do at night. I would not stay here again.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Grand Oasis Akamal Review

The hotel was beautiful..our room was huge..and cleaned perfectly every day. The food was excellent. However the beach was terrible .all coral and rocks. You absolutely need water shoes. Quite a steep entrance to the ocean, I fell every time getting in, and out. But the snorkeling is fabulous! The hotel has a very poor departure system . You need to sign out by 12 noon. You are told if you don't get to the buffet by 12:30, you will not get any food til your bus leaves. Mine left at 6:10. So  [... read more]no food unless, I paid for a late checkout..$45. US til 2:00 pm or $65 US. Til 6:00 PM. STRICTLY a money grab. I will not be back to this hotel again!!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: It’s ok, what you pay for

Rooms were not great, toilet ran the entire time we were there.Al a carte restaurants were great, Buffett was just ok. Bar service was very good, entertainment was good but the Black and White was very loud. Staff were friendly and most went the extra mile.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Great Vacation!

We have nothing bad to say about this resort. Food was quite good and the service was very good. Staff is second to non with drink service throughout the pool and beach areas. Our room was kept very clean and well stocked.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Relaxing fishing village

A gentle bay of small waves heights and wide sandy areas. The hotel is a true 3.5 star hotel regarding amenities however serves excellent food and is very clean. The staff is always helpful and very capable. With visitation to the other Decameron properties in Guayabitos included giving a perk to increase variety for one’s trip. Lastly the clientele is 60 percent Mexican and the rest seem to be Canadian.
