Grand Decameron Montego Beach: Best one yet for me

The Royal Decameron Montego Beach was very nice, rite on the beach with the view of Montego Bay with our ocean view room 421 which was first time we had a ocean view room.The room was big,easy to get around,clean and bathroom also except for regulating the hot water to cold water, but after being on the beach all day,who needs hot water just to clean up for supper.The elevator was great for us because I have canes and my wife wears a knee brace sometimes to get around.The food was great,lots to  [... read more]eat and the omelets were very good, hats off to Captain Kurt which I think he went by and Daniel and girl I can not remember her name waiting the tables buy the railings next to the beach bar. I had one problem with the fish soup which had a pepper in it which I bit into and my water glass stayed at my mouth for about ten minutes and the chef came down and showed me what it looked like and was sorry for my situation but the soup was great, ate it all.The beach was small but you only want to get wet plus swim around a little bit and then their was Christaphur, the life guard who was entertaining in so many ways, it was hard to keep up with him, but he did get Captain Poly to pick us up at our dock for a tour in the glass bottom boat Miss Poly which my last name is Polley We went with 3 other couples so some shopping on the strip was done and a drink at MargaritaVille which was busy.Only one complain would be their should be a fridge in your room at no cost only for what you buy and put in it,wine, beer and water which is free and for that reason when we go back their with my canes, I will try to book room 101 to 106, close to everything that I went for on our vacation.Over all, if you want a small getaway, this is the best one yet for me and my wife, highly recommended.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Exceeded our expectations!

We were pleasantly surprised on every level! Resort was very clean including our room - No bugs anywhere Buffet and snack bar food was really good overall, fruits and salads were always really fresh A la cart restaurants were excellent! Our favorites were the Thai / Japanese and the Piccolo Italian Service was exceptional everywhere in the resort - the buffets, lounges, bars, a la carts, including booking dinner and the Transat reps . We chose Royal Decameron on its reputation for being friendly and social, both employees and vacationers. Also walking distance to Bucerias (which we also loved), shopping and drinks on the beach. We were in building 3, with an ocean view and close enough to all activities but not to noisy at all. We loved this resort, and would definitely return. It was the best value for our dollar. Grand Decameron Panama: Good resort once you get a hang of it

The resort is huge, with many hills. Many restaurants and pools. The drinks were great, the food was decent. The rooms were great. 5 mins away from the airport. The beach is not the best, but good enough. Would stay again.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great Resort

This resort is a great size, not too big but big enough to have variety in foods, bars, pools etc. Adult only pool gives a quieter location. Yoga on the beach every morning. Great shows at night. Beach is great. Bucerias is so close to walk to and check out all the markets there. Five A La Carte restaurants to choose from. Two buffets. All in all a great location with great value. I would definitely go again.

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: Great week at Royal Decameron

We had a great time at this hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was plentiful and very good. The beach is nice the property is very well kept and the view daily is awesome. Rooms are a good size with a great balcony. The only negative it would be nice to have a fridge in each room.we will return to this resort.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Loved it'

If you're looking for luxury, this is not your resort. But if you want clean rooms, good food, well kept gardens, pools, beaches and fantastic people, this is the place to go. We loved heading into Bucerias daily as well. We will for sure return!

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Ocean view all rooms!

Because of the ocean (all rooms have it) and the quick easy Beach, buffet, and a la carte access (just steps from our room), we liked this resort much better than the huge resort complexes we have visited in the past (Barcelo, Dreams,etc). Especially with small kids no need to lug stuff around and take trams from here to there within the resort. Also never got an ocean view before at larger resorts because of the price, but here we were pleasantly surprised to find all rooms have a beautiful oce [... read more]an view. The water is so clear and the waves are pretty gentle, warm, excellent with small kids. Also the free snorkeling equipment and reef area is lovely, can see the reef and fish without even needing a snorkel, at ankle/waist depth. Great water sports all included free and always available immediately due to small size of the resort, lovely catamaran rides, kayak, paddle board, wind surfing. Food at a la carte was amazing, buffet nice omlets/pancakes/waffles/fruits etc on the morning; pasta/jerk chicken very nice as well. Great information on ingredients from buffet staff for allergies and accommodation of recipes at a la carte, however would avoid all desserts with a nut allergy as creme brulet at a la carte was supposed to be nut free but came with a nutty chocolate on top (luckily we guessed it was unsafe and avoided it).

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Excellent overall

Small hotel with everything very close. Beach, buffet area, bar, pool etc only a few steps away. Helpful staff. Good water sport activities. Food was good, would have loved to see more seafood options. Not very nut allergy friendly, staff didn't seem very knowledgeable on contamination etc.

My husband and I booked this resort for our honeymoon, we were told that this resort was fun and the food great. This was highly recommended by travel agents as well as people we mentioned it too. well the food was horrible spent so much money to go out of the resort to eat we could have booked a 5 star. the al la cartes were no better than the buffets. yet we had to wake up for 7 am to book, and can only book 2 at a time. we requested a king size bed and got 2 double beds. went to move the next [... read more] day cause they say we could then were told tomorrow. The drinks were horrible, and only had draft beer. we didn't have a fridge in our room and would only get 1 warm bottle of water a day. people that have been there before many times said the food has gone down hill big time and that they wouldn't go back. I rate this maybe a 3 star. very unsatisfied

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Great time

Loved the hotel and staff. I think they should include the safe for free and internet. Pretty cheesy to have to pay 3$ a day for the safe in the room. Also 10$ a day for internet Otherwise great place !!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Decameron Resort Bucerias

We booked our trip to Bucerias through an agent with Trip Central - the agent was courteous and efficient. We flew AirTransat to Puerto Vallarta on March 30th. We were to leave at 8 a.m. After boarding the plane, we sat on the runway for one hour and were then told that there was a mechanical problem and we would have to deplane until the problem was fixed. We then sat waiting in the Calgary air terminal until 3:30 p.m. when our plane departed. We were compensated by AirTransat with a $20/ [... read more]each food voucher during the wait and a $100/each coupon on future travel with AirTransat. It was unfortunate that we spent the first day of our vacation in an airport but we were thankful to be safe. I had read numerous reviews of the Decameron Resort prior to booking and based on noise concerns from previous customers, I requested at time of booking with the Trip Central agent, not to be housed in complex 3 or 5 during our stay. On arrival to the Decameron Resort, we were told our room was in complex 5. At this time, we verbalized our previous request of not being in complex 5 and were told there was no choice. We went to our room in complex 5 (it was now 9:30 p.m.) and found our entry door directly facing the disco and live entertainment show which was currently in progress. The volume of noise was unbelievable - it was loud in the room with the door closed, TV and noisy AC unit going. As we had been up since 5 a.m. and were now looking for rest, we returned to the hotel desk and requested (very politely, I might add) to change rooms. We were then moved to complex 3. If we thought in complex 5 that we couldn't be closer to the disco and noise, we were wrong as our new room was worse. We were keep awake until 1 a.m. by the noise from the show and disco and were less than impressed with our first day of our trip and with the staff at the hotel desk who clearly placed us in a room worse that before. I might add that a key reason we did not want a noisy room is that we have a child. We ended up moving rooms again 2 days later, which wasted more of our vacation time with having to pack up our room and have luggage at the front desk at 11 a.m. and then return at 3 p.m. to be given keys to new room. One female desk clerk who seemed to be in charge, was less than accommodating, never cracked a smile and appeared burnt out. She's clearly working in the wrong profession. Apart from our noisy room, the Decameron served our basic needs. It is a clean, no frills hotel. The food is adequate. The drinks are served in very small, probably four oz, plastic cups and also very basic (no fresh fruit). The majority of the staff are friendly and accommodating. Our favorite part of the resort is the fantastic beach front. We will not be going back to the Decameron because they did not honor our one and only request and did nothing to try and rectify our problem and offered no apologies in the end. Our advise to anyone going to the hotel - flash dollars with any requests.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Return customer

Quiet resort. Just what the doctor ordered. Service was great. Entertainment was great and varied Rooms were clean Grounds well manicured Friendly staff and very attentive We found that the food wasn't as varied as was last year. The only issue I had is the staff that aren't very generous when they are serving portions i.e. Roast beef or chicken. Very niggly

Decameron Boutique Los Delfines: A Nice Resort

We stayed at the Decameron Boutique Los Delfines for two weeks in March 2017 and overall were mostly satisfied with this resort after a few initial problems. We had booked this hotel in August expressing our desire for an end room or upper floor room closer to the ocean since because I had been there previously I knew these were the largest and quietest rooms on the resort. When we arrived they gave us a lower floor room furthest away from the ocean and closest to the busy street that is right [... read more] in front of the resort. It was very noisy into the wee hours of the morning and because the rooms are not soundproof we didn't sleep well. This was disappointing since it was the worst possible room and the last one that I wanted. After complaining to the front desk they gave us a room on the upper level but still next to the street and the noise kept us up half the night again. Again I firmly requested a room away from the street so they finally gave us one on the lower level far from the street and this was much better although we could still hear the people directly above us. They might as well have been standing next to us that's how loud it was but we settled in and made the best of it for the remainder of our vacation and slept quite well. We eventually found out that the Decameron resorts had been sold to a new owner and the upper floor rooms were now junior suites for families, and couples had to take the lower units. I did see only couples in some of the upper floor rooms so I'm not sure that reason was really valid. Despite these initial problems I will list the pros and cons of this resort. Pros - very clean resort - a la carte restaurant has the best food of all the Decameron resorts in San Andres -friendly restaurant and bar staff -location - the main beach is only steps from the resort, shopping right outside the resort, five minute walk to the Decameron Aquarium for excursion bookings. - quick restaurant reservations to any of the other Decameron resorts. - small resort, 36 rooms, lounge chairs and umbrella right outside our room, quiet during the day and evening. Cons - unfriendly front desk staff. made us feel unwelcome and we felt like we were an inconvenience - language barrier may have been a factor but don't think so. One girl, Angie was very nice. - rooms - paper thin walls so you hear every noise unless your on the upper floor away from the street. - advertised as an adults only resort but families and children were there. - only one other English speaking couple but mostly Colombians who are lovely people by the way. If we could have gotten the room we had requested it would have been an even more enjoyable vacation but it was still a fantastic holiday and we enjoyed beautiful San Andres Island. So much to do and see here. I would go again and would stay at the Los Delfines if we got our requested room. All the other Decameron resorts on the island have there pros and cons but they are all nice nonetheless.

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Relaxing

Small resort, beautiful location, friendly staff, very clean. Food was good but not a great variety and only 1 a la carte restaurant. Could not get hot fresh coffee until buffet opened. Periods of time where snacks were not available. Used to 24 hour all inclusive.

Grand Decameron Panama: Disappointed!

I returned to the Royal Decameron for the 3rd time based on previous experience and was really disappointed. The Air Transat rep reinforced the need to be aware of and pay attention to personal security. Fine, but what about the responsibility of the resort to it's visitors? The patio door didn't lock, the bottom screws were missing both inside and out. The first maintenance man used a spray can to lubricate it, managed to lock it, gave us a rather patronizing look, but did not replace the miss [... read more]ing screws, so go figure, once unlocked, it would not lock again. Housekeepers tried, couldn't lock it and another call to maintenance, finally after 4-5 days the whole mechanism was replaced. Problem solved, then for 3 consecutive days housekeeping forgot to lock it after cleaning! There was a consistent shortage of towels, and the pool closest to lobby 3 was closed for most of the 2 weeks. Restaurants alternated being open and closed without notice so went to one only to be sent to another, quality & variety of food was great but lukewarm. Service for first week was mediocre but improved by the second week. Although there seemed to be fewer staff who spoke English than on previous visits. There also seemed to be more police presence than on previous visits which in itself suggests there have been security issues. Then there was someone's choice of "music", one of very few English songs played at one of the bars at 11 am was a vulgar, violent, graphic, rap song describing killing, rape, crime, all within range of families with young children. The A/C systematically went off in the middle of the night making the room air stifling enough to wake us up from a deep sleep. Based on the dramatic differences between the first 2 visits and this one, I'd demote it from a 4 to 3 star rating. It is a beautiful resort and I love Panama but will look at alternatives next time. One more issue. While accessible for those with physical limitations, there was a girl in a wheelchair who fortunately had people with her who literally carried her in her w/c to/from the beach, so having at least one boardwalk ramp to the beach might have made her visit more enjoyable! Would I recommend it, I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes based solely on the first 2 visits, if I were to base it on this visit I would have to say no.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Might be our last trip

This was our 16th trip to the Royal Decameron Complex in Bucerias. In the past, we have always rated the place quite high. However, there have been a few subtle changes. One of the buffets is closed approximately every second night, leaving less choice. The selection in the buffets is becoming smaller, and is noticeably slanted to Mexican clientele. English is being used less frequently by animation staff and at the night show. Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Awesome

The resort was beautiful the grounds are meticulous and the little bungalows we found so quaint and charming. We were so amazed by all the birds and different plants in the garden my daughter got to pick a banana from the tree and get a coconut as well! We loved our stay here and will definitely return! The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious! The entertainment team go above and beyond to keep you busy and entertained the entire time! Grand Decameron Panama: Wonderful vacation location

Very well maintained resort. Built on a hillside, so some stairs and hills to climb however there is a pickup service if needed. Rooms are average. Lovely and friendly staff. Good variety of entertainment and a la carte restaurants.

we stayed at the older sister resort last year and loved it! we watched them build the new resort while we were there and decided to go there this march. after reading some of the reviews we were a little concerned but our experience was nothing like the negative reviews, we loved it! the pool is in the shade but only until 10 am full sun for the rest of the day, it wasn't cold but very refreshing! there was plenty of pool and beach chairs either in the sun or the shade. the shower doesn't le [... read more]ak the glass doors don't reach the floor so if you take an extra long shower the water will over run the drain and go into the bathroom floor, no big deal it was built that way and a towel on bathroom floor takes care of any water on the floor. service was excellent, all staff were great! We will definitely return!
