Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Be Live Las Morlas Hotel

Las Morlas was just the hotel for me. It is small with only three floors I think. It is not intimidating for me like those massive hotels with rooms and rooms and rooms. There is a long winding pool through most of the grounds with a pool bar. There are two main restaurants - one close to the lobby and the other one close to the beach. I felt comfortable talking to any member of staff and they always were very helpful and friendly. The beach is out of this world with light, medium and dark blue colours. It is said to be the best beach in Cuba. I have to warn you though, if you're a swimmer like me, you have to work quite a ways out to get to the deep part. Every single night there's something to do in that the disco is always on. Being a lady with mucho años, I considered the disco no longer part of MY entertainment scene, so did not participate. But at least for a couple nights a week, there is something special like a Dance Show, Live Singing, Music by a Cuban band, etc . The view from my room was just splendiferous - there was a winding pool and pool bar, a bit of the grounds of the hotel & the charming colours of the hotel - peach walls and red tiled roof - that had that rural Latin American touch. Then there were some palm trees, further on more of the hotels structures and then finally if you are the exquisite Beach. Every morning it would do me great joy, for the first thing to open my curtains and get that view and the brilliant sunshine coming in. All in all, for me, I was quite contented and serene at Las Morlas Hotel, I would gladly recommend it to anyone I knew.

Roc Barlovento: Made the best of it

A little run down. Always an issue with the pool. Fountain broke down. Then the main pump broke. The other pool the jets in the sitting pool never worked. Service was hit and miss. Rooms ok, cleaned half the time. Beach was good, but no control on the Roc plus area. No advantages to the Roc plus. And beach a bit messy in general. Cups and cigarette butts. All the staff was hit and miss. But a couple really amazing ones that we enjoyed. We made the best of it and had a very good time.

Grand Memories Varadero: Not impressed

This will be our 5th trip to Cuba. We have travelled many different times and in different months. Being slow season I would expect it would be bad but this was extreme. Only one buffet open and only one al cart open per night. We have travelled at the same time before. And the full resort was open. For a highly rated resort and a top pick not impressed. Will probably be our last trip to Cuba.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

The hotel is great ,staff are very friendly , very good food , rooms are clean and an exceptional, beautiful beach Can’t ask for more Thus was the third time to visit this resort and definitely I will be back

Melia Marina Varadero: Great hotel

Staff are very friendly, large hotel with many areas to eat, order a drink, relax and rarely felt overcrowded. A bus outside the hotel brings you to downtown Varadero where there's lots to do and a great nightlife with a mix of locals and tourists. Extremely safe to walk around Varadero and there's a fantastic public beach there as well. Highly recommend.

Melia Internacional: Amazing resort

Amenities, food and services were top of the line. I would go again. Clean and suitable for families with young kids as well as individuals. Customer service was responding in a timely manner and respectful

Paradisus Varadero: Paradise!!

A beautiful beach surrounded by palm trees that ensure shady spots for anyone that wants them, there are plenty of lounge chairs as well. Grounds are a bit large, about a 5min walk from reserve to main beach, but there is always a cart with a friendly staff member willing to take you anywhere. Decent food and a good variety, and always something to drink. Wonderful friendly staff that help make your trip perfect

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful resort’

We stayed for a week and it was beautiful! never upgraded and never lost out on anything. pools are great, food is great! (if your not picking) freshly made pasta everyday! overall best resort in cuba!!

Sol Caribe Beach: Beautiful compact resort

Beautiful modern clean resort on a gorgeous stretch of beach. Staff are very gracious and attentive. All drinks are very good. Coffee bar is a nice touch too. Lots of nice seating areas inside and out. Food was plentiful during our stay, thoroughly enjoyed our stay as a couple and would definitely return.

Melia Las Americas: Beautiful Resort!

Lovely resort for adults! The architecture, landscaping and pool areas were beautiful. I loved how many tall palm trees there were, which is not typical for Cuban resorts. They had a newly built deck with modern furniture that had stunning views of the sunset. Beach was beautiful and well kept. I’ve been to 4 other Cuban resorts and I think this one had the best tasting food. The rooms in the main building were older/dated which is what you should expect in Varadero, but if you get an ocean  [... read more]view room, you don’t notice it. The views are stunning and my room was filled with natural light. They have newer built bungalows in the level areas which is about a 3-5 minute walk from the main building.

Playa Vista Azul: Best value

There's no boring moment. There always something fun, happy to do. From pool parties to performance shows the entertainers are there to insure the vacation is memorable. Food,drinks, beaches and rooms all call for more trips. Can't wait to bring my whole family.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good resort

Its a resort for retired people or someone that wants a calm vacation. If your young and looking for a party this is not it. The food was good. I did upgrade to royal service it is worth it. The beach was not that nice and was not cleaned. Most of the staff aren’t friendly there was a couple of them who were really nice and funny who made our trip better. Orestes wonderful bartender!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Resort review

The grounds of this resort are beautiful, pool was great and all of the public areas were lovely. Our room certainly needs updating, the air conditioner was far too cold the first few days and couldn't be adjusted, maintenance came in and turned it off but then for the rest of out stay we didn't have any air conditioning and it became very hot in the room. The shower leaked and ran out into the room so we had to clean that up every day. There were holes in our sheets. The beds covered up the 2 [... read more]20v outlets so we didn't find those until after I blew my hair dryer.

Clean and comfortable. Food was OK. Staff were excellent. Beautiful beach and lots of loungers. Loved the pool. Music was not too loud. I'm old LOL. Everything was in close proximity and would definitely go back

1st 3 days..it was very very cold in our room. Even Shut off the A/C. Still very cold. Maintenance came. Next 3 days we had no A/C. Temperature 34 Celsius. Holes in bedsheets. Whenever the shower was used, water leaked into the bedroom area. Grounds were lovely

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful resort

We enjoyed every moment … great people … great service… great friends old and new. We will be back and can’t wait! The weather was perfect as it has been for our last 4 visits and it it so nice to go back to a place where we feel familiar and where we feel at ‘home’.

Melia Internacional: Fantastic Resort!!

Great location. Very clean, well maintained, all rooms are clean and modern. There are 2 buffets and other specialty restaurants with great delicious food choices. Also, every day there is a BBQ in the garden with plenty of options to eat. The Beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs at all times with crystal clear waters and no seaweed or bugs. Resort is 10-15 mins walk to Varadero if you wish to go to the town or you can take panoramic bus stop in front of the Resort. Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Highly overrated resort!

It is difficult to find what should be first topic to discuss. In general, to assign star rating, several factors should be considered and compared across travel industry, including at least Cuba, Dominican Republic and Mexico (most common destinations for Canadians). No excuse should be given for embargo, political reasons/government, etc. As such, I would give to Royalton Hicacos 3 star rating at the best. It is very dated resort will all amenities requiring complete renovation. There are 3 po [... read more]ols and I have not seen a single occasion of water treatment. Our room was in is quite area with a small pool nearby and over our stay only once water was added to the pool and it was cleaned once at the same time. There is no water circulation at all. Mattresses and pillows are very dirty, perhaps from the time the resort was built. Towels and bath robes were with untreated stain spots and room service was irregular. There is lack of everything-food, beverages, even ice from time to time. Food is especially limited to chopped salads (cabbage, zucchini, tomatoes), proteins-chicken drumsticks as the best option, some grilled chicken breast strips, pork and simple fish. Our return flight by Sunwing was delayed and rerouted through Punta Cana (shortage of fuel and defects with aircraft) and we arrived to Toronto almost 24 hours behind the schedule. In Punta Cana, Sunwing arranged our rest (only a few hours but thanks for that) in Paradisus Grand Cana resort and this resort was huge contrast with Royalton providing impression what 5 star resort is about. Everything was exceptional and I will not think a second to recommend this resort. Lots negative can be said about Royalton for exception of the beach. I summary, when Tour Operators provide information about destinations/resorts including star rating, it would be good to arrange a tour for their staff to have better verified information on resort conditions and service.
