Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Times Are A Changing!

I've been to Club Amigo many times over the years but this is the first time I've ever been disappointed-in the amenities, the food and even the staff seemed very tense. Not sure if it's the economic situation, the management or the new hotel next door-or maybe all of the above. TripCentral is the most helpful, attentive travel agency I've ever booked with and thank you for that. We'll be booking again soon !

Gran Muthu Imperial: Wonderful resort!

Grounds are well maintained. Public areas are airy, furniture well-placed, and front desk manned all the time. Hotel room is spacious and adequately equipped with a huge bed, along with other furniture such as desk, table, chairs and a large wicker lounger! The services are excellent and attendants are friendly, thoughtful! Foods and drinks are plenty to choose from. the beach is close by and clean!

Barcelo Solymar: Needs lots of maintenance and resources

We'd been at Barceló Solymar a few times along the past ten years but decided this was the last. Even with a renovated buffet restaurant and reception desk, the rest of the hotel is screaming for repairs. So many things don't work. The hotel has five elevators but only two work. Some days the maid couldn't leave clean towels and toilet paper! At many times during the day you can't have a hot water shower. With regards to the food, I noticed a decrease in quality from previous trips. The hotel staff are usually polite but they talk to each other loudly from one corner to the other as if they're alone.The beaches are beautiful, but I'd say if you want to enjoy them, try a better hotel.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Exactly what we paid for

We recently returned from a week at the Melia Cayo Guillermo. Although there were some small issues when we arrived we had a great time. We arrived in the morning so our room was not ready right away - not an issue. When we got to our room the door would not open - it was stuck due to swelling of the wood as the air conditioning was not working properly, our safe did not work and while our toilet flushed it was insufficient to flush properly and required multiple flushes. We reported these is [... read more]sues to guest services. The air conditioning was fixed right away and the door and safe were fixed the next day. Apparently the toilet was worked on but it continued to malfunction the rest of the week however, was not an issue. We had no other issues with our room the rest of the week, it was comfortable and clean. One issue we had with the resort was the public washrooms. In the pool bar women's washroom the toilets did not flush at all. All of the women's washrooms were out of paper by the end of the day and were not refilled until much later the next morning. In two of the men's washrooms the urinals were not functioning. Surprisingly, except for 1 day, there was no bread at lunch or dinner, only breakfast. We found the resort itself beautiful, very picturesque. We found the food good but the buffet was repetitive with very little variety day to day or even meal to meal. Like everywhere else in Cuba that we have been too, the staff at the resort are wonderful. If you are unfamiliar with Cuban resorts I would not recommend this resort for your first visit. We have been to Cuba 18 times and are very familiar with the issues most resorts have to deal with. Our expectations were not high as the price was very, very reasonable. All in all it was a pleasant vacation

Sol Cayo Coco: Great Beach

Very nice beach, both water-wise and sand-wise. Trip to Pilar Beach was also fun. Food was so-so but so is all of Cuba I hear. Very nice staff. I'd go back, given the low price and good value-for-money.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Awesome resort and staff!

Everything was perfect. One of our rooms didn't have proper air conditioning and they got a new one the next day. They were very accommodating for our party of 10. Food was good even if your a Vegan. It was very windy for the entire trip, which was ok to me. It was fun in the ocean and you could still jump off at the end of the pier for a quick dip. It was a long walk to the beach though. All in all I give it a 10 and would recommend this resort and would return, no hesitations.

Club Kawama: Average resort

Obviously an older resort however most everything worked. My room was clean and the grounds were tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. At night it was difficult to get around since the lighting was not good. The food was fine and I enjoyed the Itlantian restaurant. The location was great. You were a short walk from the town.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Worst resort out of my 27 visits to Cuba !

I've been in Cuba 27 times, stayed at many chain hotels (including other Melias) , private homes, hostels, Cuban hotels and this has by far been my worst experience in terms of hospitality, service and food. The room had roaches, AC didn't work properly, the hot water didn't work and the cleaning lady made the bed but didn't clean the the sink, toilet, floor or shower. I didn't get served any drinks at the breakfast or dinner buffets. Lunch buffet at the beach staff were the exception. I sat at  [... read more]an a la carte for 20 minutes and not one person approached me to offer a drink or even to say hello so I walked out. The other a la cartes I ordered chicken and got the exact same chicken drumsticks mashed potatoes and rice at Mexican, international and Mediterranean. The only exception was the Mexican rice had cut up hot dogs in it. Yuck! Paid extra for elegance club which they didn't have in their computer so after much arguing and having to prove that I paid for this I finally got the internet cards and reservations at restaurants but never got a beach towel the entire time I was at the resort. First time ever staying at a chain hotel in Cuba and not getting a beach towel. Ridiculous. There were positives: close to the airport and the beach was absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for walking for hours. In saying that there are two other hotels on this stretch of beach which I highly recommend as opposed to this one.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Awful resort

Suggestions to travel’ agents! Do not book anyone to this resort. 24 hrs snacks place,,no more foods at 10 pm. First day, toilet was broken. Waited 3 hours to move. Sewage smells in bedroom and outside balcony. Toilets paper always run out in resort. Beach towels run out at 9 am at hour open. I was carried my own role of toilet paper. Everyone who worked in this resort, they done good job. They can’t provide the better service Because, resort have no organized.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Lack of logistics in the reception of tourists

tourists have come a long way before arrival and the first thing they need is to get to their room and relax as soon as possible. Especially if they arrived late at night. They should not be collected like sheep in rooms and explain something for a long time. Each room should have a memo about the rules. That's all. This happens in all hotels in the world. Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not Impressed!!

The resort was beautiful and very big. The service was extremely poor. There was no greeting when we got there and when checking in the staff weren't to friendly. Our room had roaches in it so I had to request a different room. The second room we got the shower leaked thought the whole room. There was minimal entertainment and music in the resort. The disco was closed the whole time we were there. It took min. 15 min to get a drink at any bar and when you got a drink there was way too much alcoh [... read more]ol in my cup to enjoy it. The food was good and the resort was clean. I feel that they need to have more staff on to cater to people. Beaches are beautiful. I'd think twice about going to this place.

Grand Memories Varadero: We had a good time!

Second time at Grand Memories. The hotel was good. The grounds are well kept, which helps set a great atmosphere, it gives that laid back and relaxed feeling. Note: grounds staff deserve a special mention on the great job! The Staff; the room cleaners did a great job too! The kitchen staff were prompt to serve and very courteous. The main ba [... read more]r: good atmosphere but seemed the bar staff was only motivated by $$$. I did tip as much as possible but it never seemed enough with them. (Travel hint: bring extra $$$ if you like faster service or once in my case.... service at all). The beach; fantastic, get there early to get a good spot. Note: The beach server was really good at helping everyone with setting up the beds. He deserves special mention too! The entertainment staff were energetic and enthusiastic! I loved how they created the feeling of inclusion. Really improved how how I felt through the fun interaction with them. The pools; there were enough pools to cater to different needs: a quiet pool, a party pool and a kids pool.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Not 5 star hotel

This was my third time to the royalton and it will be my last This resort has gone so far downhill Most of the staff were not friendly or courteous at all The food what little supplies they had was not good they were out of almost everything the entertainment was pathetic basically a couple of Cuban guys round the pool at 4pm for an hour and they spoke mainly Spanish I wouldn't spend the money on this so called 5 star resort definately not 5 stars anymore !!

Club Kawama: Club Kawama needs to up it's meal quality/selection

The staff was friendly helpful and generally fantastic! The entertainments were OK, although I really do not like rap culture which was about 2/3rds of the nightly music programming at the stage beside the lounge. One night on the other hand, a rock band nailed the International Submarine Band / Byrds / Flying Burrito Brothers "Cosmic American Music" sound pioneered by Gram Parsons and Neil Young et al. in the late 1960's and early 1970's. But the buffet restaurant became ve [... read more]ry predictable and sometimes included under-cooked elements (like under-done potatoes in an egg salad from the cold table for example). The oil that all the grill chefs on site used added a taste I hated which made every meat taste the same (needless to say I didn't eat much meat). All in all a good experience - as is 27C and sunny for a Canadian in January! :)

Melia Las Dunas: Awesome resort

Had the best week at this resort! Food was good. Always something to eat in the buffet selections. Pasta bar, stir fry bar, grill station. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. pool was refreshing, beautiful beach! Well kept rooms, awesome entertainment!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Great friendly environment with no kids!

Great staff!! Security should be more vigilant, however beautiful place! Will return for sure :) thank you to Ernesto the bar tender at the snack bar for being the best!! And most amid thank you to Mernie

Marazul Hotel: Terrible Vacation, Never Again

Didn't give to us brief meeting about the hotel and services, the resort don't have porters so I had to load the luggage all the time, the Elevators Don't work, we eat the same poor meal three times a day 4 days in the road, the room was dirty and I kill my self one cockroache, the AC hole was not seal, the towels very old and with holes, the room didn't have phone and the front desk told us the problem was line broken, nobody clean the room in 4 days, one day I went to Havana and call back to t [... read more]he Hotel many times in 30 Min and nobody answer me in the Marazul resort front desk, in the restaurant buffet many plates are cold, the food heat don't work, drinks like water or Pop serving warm, just one meat and they served small portions, I had to removed my self the use plates because the are lazy to do it, the last day in this nightmare the lady in the front desk told me that she didn't have not phone line working to call anywhere, I request to speak with the Director Manager and he never ever give me his face, he always sent others, the front desk keep the money change rate fix at .69 cent canadian dollar per CUC, when the bank have .74 cents, when I complain they change to .73, the was robbing me 5 Canadian Dollar every 100 dollar I change to CUC, I have lot of pictures that prove what I said, if anybody would like to see it just email me, this Vacation time was huge NIGHTMARE

Tryp Cayo Coco: Friendly Cuban Staff

The walkways were uneven and the best to walk in bare feet. We found cockroaches in the room and others had feces come up in their bathtub. The room was tired and old. The staff however were excellent and the food was very good with some good variety.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great Resort, Excellent location,Amazing staff

Stayed at Sol Rio Luna Mares right after new years and really enjoyed our stay. The resort was great and the staff even greater. The location is excellent being close to local towns for shopping and exploring. The beach is beautiful and spacious. Even though there was reno's going on the noise was kept to a minimal . I would recommend this resort to everyone.

Starfish Varadero: Amazing resort

We stayed in a bungalow. It was clean and spacious. Air conditioning worked great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We ate at the buffet a lot, there was a wide variety of food. We had no problems with stomach irritation from the food, and this was our first visit to Cuba. The beach was beautiful and clean. Pool was nice too. Lots of chairs on beach and at pool area.
