Resonance Blu Varadero: Good Time, but constant shortage

My girlfriend and I, as well as a few friends, traveled to Memories Varadero from April 26- May 3rd 2016. We had an good time overall. However, there were some Pros and Cons. Pros: Buffet food was much better than expected Buffet had good hours Rooms were nice and air conditioning was strong Grounds were fairly clean The pools were big and both had swim up bars Beach was clean for about half the trip Party central due to college kids finishing school Small shops on resort Room cleaners did grea [... read more]t jobs Decent price Disco lights were awesome. Some bartenders made awesome drinks despite shortage of alcohol Cons Shortage of many types of alcohol ie. Vodka, rum, blue curcao (I think that's what it's called) This became very frustrating as I'd walk up expecting a drink to find out they did not have it. This happened multiple times throughout resort Pools and beach became more dirty as trip progressed Servers were OK could have been much better as one day we were forgotten at snack bar. Washrooms are being worked on literally everywhere. This was a huge problem as it resulted in many urinating outside. Pool/beach had weird hours in my opinion I was expecting much better seafood as I have been to memories Cayo coco and remember the best beach grill I've had in my life there. The seafood was probably the worst food they served at this resort. Overall, it is good if you don't have a lot of money and are looking to party. I didn't expect a lot, and was happily suprised by somethings and disappointed by other things. I would go again if the price was cheap and I had a big group of friends to go with.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great place and staff beach pool everything

We had no issues at all with the Bria Costa we are repeat guest the only thing is they have a promote 5 visits the 6 th is one free week at the hotel this is no longer a promote now they said it was off cause the hotel has new owners . They cancelled that2 days before we got there. Just are luck!!

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort and Amazing Staff

If you want a nice quiet clean and beautiful resort to head to this is it. If you like diving and snorkeling right off the beach then it doesn't get any better! Rooms are clean, we upgraded to a suite and it didn't disappoint. Staff are amazing, food is good and if you can't find something to eat than you must be a picky eater. : ) I would highly recommend this hotel. If you do have a complaint, if you don't like your room for some reason, if you do happen to get a room that has not be updated o [... read more]r not keen on the location the staff will bend over backwards to help relocate you. The resort is adults only and nice and quiet so if you are looking for party central go somewhere else. Bands are really good at the resort and oh yes, Nelson will make you the best omelette of your life! Go and see for yourself.

Memories Jibacoa: It was a good time

It was OK, the stuff was not greeting. Same food every day not to much variety. Every thing was very far from the resort. it had rocky beach if you like to snorkel, lots of older people. Very nice and quiet.

Playa Caleta: Amazing time

This resort is awesome, I think it really should be 3 in a half, staff was great, good was ok again it's Cuba, I didnt get sick plus rooms were clean, plus pretty close to downtown, I will be going back forsure

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: BEAUTIFUL RESORT & BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

Our first time in Cuba. ROYALTON is a very nice resort - I found it rather small compared to other resorts I have gone to in DR, MEXICO, JAMACIA - but overall, the people are great, the food was very good and the beach was amazing. I was not impressed with my room, however, being a nice Canadian, I "sucked it up" for the week, but I will make sure my next trip, my room will be specified in more detail what I want. If you are people who want a room with a nice view, pay for the DIAMOND CLUB, and maybe you will have it - other than that, you may be disappointed if you don't. I realize we all pay big $$$ to go to the ROYALTON and you would think all rooms would have an "o.k." view.(talking about the view, the room itself was definitely nice) but this is not so, very disappointing. I do recommend this resort to anyone. The entertainment was also very good. The butlers were very accommodating. Cuban people are very nice and for this reason I will go back to Cuba someday but perhaps a different location in Cuba just to see other areas of the island. One thing very disappointing with our trip but had nothing to do with the resort, was I bought a seashell on the beach from a young man selling them - beautiful - paid 12 pesos for it. Other people were buying them as well. On our way to airport, the entertainer you could say on the bus, was telling us rules, regulations for the airport, and he asked if anyone purchased any seashells. I though he wanted to maybe fill us in on the development of these shells, so I said "YES", I do, and this is when he told me it was not permitted to have these shells , and they were to stay in Cuba. I thought he was joking, and he told me, oh no, he would not joke about that. He told us if our luggage was checked it would be taken from us but if we wanted to take a change it was up to me. He scared me, so my husband and I opened up our suitcase and gave the shell to him. "Here" I said, "a gift for you." I told him if it was not allowed, I did not want it. I sure wasn't breaking any rules in somebody else's country! I would suggest to Sun wing that when your rep gives the Introduction to clients at the introduction meeting, they should mention any rules that they feel their clients should know about whichever country they are visiting. That is everything - overall - I was very happy to go on a vacation, but I was equally happy to return to my home. No place like home!

Starfish Jibacoa: Super relaxing, great for families with young kids

We loved the one level bungalows and the contained size of the grounds. It made getting around very easy especially with young kids. This resort has minimal facilities but we were very content. It was fun that there were Cuban guests as well; added to the flavor and made us feel less removed from the fact that we were in Cuba. The resort is quite small so the staff gets to know you and if you are generous with tips, they find ways to be generous back. The food was decent. As we expected there wa [... read more]sn't a huge selection but everyone always found something satisfying to eat. The best part, hands down, of this resort is the access to the coral reef. Bring your own snorkling gear or rent equipment and a guide to take you scuba diving for a very affordable price to witness the magical sea world of plants, coral, rock formations, sting rays and other sea creatures. Amazing experience!!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Needs Update

Dining area overrun with flies and birds at food very unappetizing never saw it this bad at other resorts we have been to.Grounds were kept nice except walkway lights out for our block of rooms.Big problem was bathrooms being out of service all over the resort from lobby to eating and entertainment areas.Out of 10 the rooms were about a 4.Beach area was beautiful but at beach bar they always ran out of ice.Last 2 days Sun and Mon no ice at all other people at beach also complained about this.Bar [... read more]s also ran out of other types of liquor except rum.Went to bar asked for vodka was told there was none,then saw man put 5.00 on bar and vodka appears from under bar.Seems all they want to give you is rum unless you want to pay.There also is something going on at the money exchange no ones available at exchanges or banks in town of Varadero.Seems like a scam to get 3 or 5 dollar tip, talked to other people who also said the same thing.Most people who go there are not rich so they are only screwing themselves,it shows in the omlette line.There was always a pile of ones this trip I didn't see any.I think problems are mostly on ownership or management and some on workers(bartenders).We have stayed at other resorts in Cuba, this was the worst.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: a wonderful holiday spot

We stayed at Barcelo Arenas Blancas and had a great time! Beautiful beach and pools, large buffets and variety of restaurants, friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere. The location is excellent, just steps away from Varadero town. I would go back to this resort. One area for improvement is the quality of the nighttime entertainment and maybe cut down on the loud DJ music by the pool in the afternoon. Melia Las Americas: A top notch resort

Good quality food. Our room was clean and we loved the sautéed shrimp offered at the swim up bar in the bungalow section of the resort. The one server whose name I believe was Mercedes provided excellent service. We loved the beach and the location to the golf course was perfect.

Hotel Los Cactus: Nice Resort

Grounds were beautiful. Beaches amazing. Food was good. Rooms were clean but a little dated. Only issue with trip was that the resort over booked and we had to spend 3 days at Bella Costa. Bella Costa was NOT a comparable resort - it was dirty.

Los Delfines: Great home away from home

My stay at Los Delfines is always great. I have been a regular going to Cuba about 2 or 3 times a year and always go back to Los Delfines. You won't find a better beach or better people. The rooms are dated but always clean. The food is nothing to write home about but I've never went hungry. The ice cream is my favorite. You won't find a better bang for your buck.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Perfect size and great price point

The staff at this resort make it worthwhile. Varadero Beach is amazing however at Playa Alameda you have three levels of beach..One is where the huts are but go early if you want a blue(new) chair..most of the yellow ones should be discarded. show up before 730 ...the second level is flat and lots of it ..then u have the final level to the water ~~~ clean and crystal clear The pool was nice and clean. No swim up bar but the bar is close to the pool so no biggie. The shows I was not impressed with sorry to say. The disco at night was lots of fun !! Music was fantastic !! you can always request music from the DJ he is also accommodating and a great dancer as well!!

Grand Memories Varadero: Resort was amazing but service was okay

The hotel itself was amazing and the environment, beaches and all the bungalows were amazing, didn't regret a thing but only major thing between other little things were that we didn't get a bottle of water until our fourth day despite asking the staff numerous times and even in buffets , workers would give the water bottles to diamond club but not regular. We got two bottles of water on the 7 days stay so hydrating in the hot temperature was a problem.

Brisas Del Caribe: An Amazing Trip

It was my first trip anywhere "tropical" and I enjoyed every minute. I would go back again. Thank you Brisas Del Caribe for a memorable time. My friends and I had so much fun and many memories were made for a lifetime.

Blau Varadero: Amazing, Clean, Fantastic Resort

Great Customer Service thank you ROSIE!!! Rooms are clean maid service is great, leave a little something and a note if there is something extra you require it will be there when you return to your room. Food is great never any issues and plenty to choose from, theme nights every night Asian, Cuban etc!!! BETTY makes awesome breakfast juice drinks while you wait, fantastic. Palma was good as well, nice atmosphere and they have a 4 or 5 piece band play lovely music while you enjoy your dinner. Pool is beautiful always clean and the lounges are plenty. Lunch at the Pool Restaurant and outside BBQ daily once again food is great. Beach is to die for just gorgeous and lots of palapas to shade under, beach bar and beach bar restaurant ( pizza, grilled sandwiches etc ). Overall rating I would say is 5++ We are returning guests to this Resort, our niece was married there 2 years ago and it was our first time to Cuba, we fell in love with this Resort and have returned 3 times and are planning on a 2 week stay next April. The Employees work very hard to make sure your stay is a memorable one. We would like to thank our extended Family there... Micha, Orlando, Rosie, Myrna, Jose, Tupac, Jorge, Roberto and Adelay's and everyone else. Managers are very approachable and spend time with you, they just want to make sure your vacation is wonderful. Thanks to David, who has just taken over the Managing of this Resort as our dear friend Jose had to leave and return to Spain we truly missed you this time around. We are sure David will do a excellent job of keeping up with maintaining this fabulous, well respected Resort--- It's the place to stay in Varadero We recommend The Blau Varadero for your next vacation. Starfish Varadero: Way Better Than Expected - Aguas Azules

The employees of this resort went beyond their job requirements for all guests. They wanted to ensure that you had a great experience at "their" resort. The resort like many Cuban resorts needs some upgrades, but was very clean and charming. I have read how Cuban food was not the best, but this resort had amazing food! I could not have pictured a better beach, on which to spend my vacation. The beach was quite a distance away from other resorts, so you did not feel crowded or uncomfortable when  [... read more]on the beach. The palapas were a perfect distance away from each other, you had privacy but could interact with your neighbours if you wanted. The weather was amazing. I am not a pool person, but the pools looked very nice and clean. We felt very safe and secure wandering around the resort at all times of the day. The grounds were immaculate. I have never had so many people say "Hola!" to me daily and mean it! The resort manager was very visible and always open to comments and suggestions.

Hotel Los Cactus: Beautiful Resort with great service and food!!!

I totally enjoyed my stay at the Breezes Varadero. The rooms were clean, neat and tidy. The air conditioner worked great and kept the room very cool. The food was awesome. I had heard stories about the food in Cuba but here was salt and pepper on every table and there were different bottles of hot sauces and spiced olive oils for you to use. The Italian restaurant was amazing. Our wine glasses never emptied and the antipasto bar was to die for. It was one of the most beautiful beaches I had ever [... read more] seen. The grounds were very well kept and the pool was always clean. Shows were good and the nightly music in the lobby as well as the late night sandwiches were very good. Iberostar Selection Varadero: Excellent Resort

This was my fourth time in Cuba and it was a world of difference from other resorts I've stayed at. The hotel itself was very well-maintained, constantly cleaned. The service was friendly from all staff. The food was incredible for Cuba! They were doing construction on the beach during my stay (April 23-30) so that took away from the ambience a bit but nothing that would ruin the trip. Resonance Blu Varadero: Great Resort 3rd time visted

This hotel is a great spot 3rd time visiting and it gets better each and every time. Food was decent for cuba had lobster twice during my stay Resort clean pools and beach are wonderful. Rooms are average for cuba. Service was good entertainment was great :) Will go again.
