The food was not great, the hotel was far too large for my liking. The beach was full of rock and coral ..not something I was sure about. The only place I enjoyed was the salt water pool ..it's still quite far from hotel but it was the only place I found enjoyable

Grand Riviera Princess: Beautiful resort

Grand describes the grounds and gardens. Food was good. Drinks were excellent. Service was also excellent. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beach was lovely. Pools were exceptionally clean and many to choose from, always enough lounges at any time of the day! Personally prefer smaller resorts as there was a lot of walking to get to and from the beach area and the main lobby - but hey, a little exercise is always good for you!

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Ocean Coral and Turquesa - first time visit to Mexico

from the moment we landed it was a terrific experience! It was a first time visit to Mexico and everything went smooth from the transfer to the hotel to the transfer back. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was top notch. The rooms were clean and the food was great. We met other travelers during our stay & we are planning a return visit same time next year to the same resort. It was a five star experience.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: recommended resort

All areas at the resort were clean. Food was good with an amazing variety. Staff were friendly. Good entertainment at night. Never had to be concerned about getting a lounge chair at the pool or beach. WiFi available 24 hours. It was along drive to the hotel but well worth it and was a very relaxing holiday!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Amazing Resort

This resort is great. the grounds are well kept and clean. No issues with the food, lots of options. the beach is clean with great service. all in all, a great resort. It is a large resort but lots of trolley's available. Overall, you will not get any better service throughout.

Grand Riviera Princess: Beautiful Property

The hotel itself was beautiful and very large. Lots of trees ,wildlife and flowers. Beautifully kept. We had no issue getting around as we enjoyed the walk up to the buffet/restaurants and back after. But every now and the would catch the tram the travels back and forth every 15-20 mins. We were in the far end of building 6 and quite close to the beach which we liked. The room was comfortable,air conditioning worked perfectly. Lots of pools running through the resort if your'e a pool person and several bars close by to get drinks. We are beach people and we found a spot in the adults only area on the beach that was perfect.We generally stay at adults only resorts so we were happy to find an adults only area on the beach as there were a lot of kids. A palapa,a bar close by and a beautiful view! The beach unfortunatly has a fair bit of rock in the water in this area ,so you need to be quite careful where you walk. Water shoes or sandals would have been a good idea.All in all we enjoyed a perfect week of sun in our spot on the beach. The drinks were very good and most days there was waiter service. My only real complaint was the food. The specialty restaurants were mediocre at best. Reservations had to be made in advance and times were very limited. We ate at the Steak House,The Mexican and Asian restaurants. Of the 3 the asian was the better of the 3 but still not great. The rib eye at the steak house was sub par and the coconut shrimp appetizer was like something out of the frozen food section. The Mexican restaurant was disappointing . Again,very mediocre . After these 3 we just went to the buffet for the rest of the evenings.We could usually find something there. Breakfast at the buffets was also disappointing. The omelette station used a lot of oil and so everything was oily. Most mornings the bacon was so over cooked it was almost inedible. Much of the food that was preprepared was luke warm at best. The fruit selection was sad, a lot of fruit in syrup !! We never went hungry but the food was not as enjoyable as we had hoped it would be. Everything was over cooked and it was next to impossible to find a hot potato or vegatable anywhere. The Beachbar Grill was our most enjoyable lunch of the week. What was amazing was the coconut ice cream at the ice cream shop !!! While we didn't love the food,the beach was great and the weather was perfect !! This is a large beautiful resort that has a lot of families and weddings. We got a good deal so Would i go back??????? For the right price, yes I would .

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Meh

The resort itself is very nice but one key comment that I kept looking over when I read the reviews is how poor the beach is; very weedy and water is brownish. Found a few of the staff at dinner to be quite rude. Our room smelt and the power kept going out, other then that it was pretty good.

Grand Riviera Princess: Wedding dream come true!

The hotel grounds, pools, beach, and rooms were incredible. Our resort wedding coordinator, Lizeth, helped to group our entire wedding group telogether in one section of the resort to make it easy to stay together. She made our day stress-free because she was so organized and friendly and just PERFECT! I honestly could not have asked for a more perfect trip to celebrate our wedding with family and friends. A dream come true!!!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an

I loved the room that we stayed at as it was large and modern. We had a hot tub out front we took advantage of daily. It was our first stay at the Sian Ka'an our previous stay was at Akumal and it has it's own charms. We spent two wonderful weeks in the sun with only one rain day, which is amazing in itself. We took advantage of two excursions while we were there: Rio Secreto and Coba, both are 1/2 days. I enjoyed learning about the Mayan culture and about human sacrifices. My favorite part was the private beach which was pristine and full of fish. You did not need to have any equipment to see the fish in the clear water. My second favorite was the food at the buffet, it was very good and plentiful. My one regret is that they often ran out of Rose wine which is my favorite. We did try some of the a la carte restaurants but I did not find them anything special and one was just awful. I would recommend this resort in general but enjoyed the little extra perks from the adults only.

Grand Riviera Princess: Fantastic Resort for families

The resort was absolutely beautiful, with several a la carte restaurants and amazing buffets. Whether you want a quiet day at the pool, or an exciting day filled with games and activities at the swim up bar or on the beach, this resort has it all! The resort staff was friendly and helpful We will be back next year!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great resort / rocky beach

Great resort. Everyone is friendly. Expensive WiFi access and lobby WiFi is kinda weak. Sand was good but rocky once u r in the water; suggest to bring proper footwear if you want to spend time. Far ride from the airport. Don Pablo and le gourmet was great. Tequila the restaurant is something you want to avoid.

Grand Riviera Princess: Lovely resort!

Grounds were immaculate, room was clean (a little tired though), the bed was comfortable. The food was good, not great but no one in our party got sick which is a good thing. The beach was nice with lots of lounges and the pools were clean. The staff were all very pleasant. We personally prefer a smaller resort but had no complains.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Ask for Anna for service at the swim up suite

We stayed from Nov 11th to 18th/ 16 and were in a swim up room, beautiful and the rooms were huge. Our check in was great, rooms were not quite ready but we flew in early. we were met with big smiles and nothing was beyond our needs. We were in room # 4003 which was pretty central. The only draw back with this room is that it is close to the swim up/ main pool and it is very noisy in the afternoon, so no siesta for us. Also the other side of the room where we entered was noisy when you were tryi [... read more]ng to sleep as it backs onto the driveway/parking lot and there seemed to be a lot of noise at night while you are trying to sleep. 24/7 bar is great as we are early risers heading to the beach to watch the sun rise and like to grab a coffee or drink on the way. Deisy at that bar starts at 7 am and was always ready with a smile. We had a waitress also at our swim up suite, Anna was amazing she always anticipated your needs I swear she must of put on 30 miles a day. She is also has been taking different languages to make it easier for her to relate to everyone. The other girls were great but Anna was the best...kudos to her. Buffet was really good with similarities everyday but also variations to keep it interesting. Make sure you go to the Yucatan Buffet on Thursday night for the seafood amazing. A bit of a disappointment with the al a cartes, portions were really small. so don't go hungry. Shops are very expensive at the resort but you can take a shuttle to 5th Ave to buy it's a lot cheaper. If you are getting a swim up suite bring an inflatable with you, it makes it great for lounging in the water. The beach area is small and there is lots of loungers, but to go swimming because of the rocks if you walk down to the sister resort you can get in.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Amazing Resort!

We were here on our honeymoon. Beautiful resort. Clean and the food was terrific! The staff were all amazing and we loved our room, the pool and the beach. We had a different towel animal our bed everyday. Lots of options for meals. Love the flaming coffee table! Such a gorgeous peaceful place. I loved it wasn't a big singles pick up place for most of the week we were there. Towards the end of the week it seemed a bit more rowdy and busier but still more of a couples type resort over a  [... read more]singles hangout which was perfect for us. Definitely will be back.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good resort

We are a retired couple who went to relax & we did just that. Wasn't busy at this time (Nov. 8 - 18th) so there was plenty of spots around the pool area or beach area to hang your hat. The buffet had a variety of different foods to choose from & the other restaurants at the resort were also great. Rooms were big. Trollies came around every 10 minutes to take you to different places at the resort which was very nice. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun: Love this resort

Very family and baby friendly! Vacationed with a 9 month baby and very accomadating to us. Small quiet resort, beautiful grounds and great food. Staff is incredible, friendly, quick and always remembered our names.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Amazing holiday

Stayed for 4 nights. Room was a great size, beds were very comfortable and finishings were nice (marble tile floors). Shower was malfunctioning but nothing major. Food was great, there's always something you can find. Restaurants do not have AC but the only place we ever noticed it was at the Japanese restaurant (so hot we left). Pool is amazing, huge! Barcelo Maya Colonial: Barcelo chain of resorts is huge!

We stayed at the Colonial which has the authentic Mexican look (as did the Tropical buildings) They are clean and well kept but older looking and if authentic is what you want, then choose either of those two. If you want more modern looking I would choose the Caribe or Beach resort. We didn't stay at those, but from the outside it looked more modern with ceramics tiles and less traditional looking. When you stay at one you have access to the main hub of them all. Each hotel has its own lob [... read more]by/check in etc. but they are all connected with TONS of walking and beach front. There is a double decker bus to take you to each of them should you need a ride. There is one more resort but its exclusive for those who have tons of extra money to spare. Its called the Royale Palace Deluxe. They do have access to the other four though. You get free Wi-Fi in the mall/shopping area each day from 10am to 1pm only! You can pay extra if you want all access though. The buffet was ok....breakfast was good since you can't go wrong with fresh eggs and toast plus a huge assortment of stuff to choose from. Lunch & dinner buffet was touch and go. For those looking for a huge assortment but not fussy on taste...its good. The a la carte restaurants were the best food and it was awesome!! You have to go to the Tokyo Japanese for the great presentation and food!!! The ONLY place open to eat 24/7 was the "sports bar" located at the 6/10Caribe section of the mall. If I had to rate those snacks it would be 6/10. If you like runny cheese on your nachos its good for you then. Can't go wrong with the all you can drink booze/drinks though. Although each bartender makes them different!! Pools close at dark, which was around 6pm...so if you are looking for something to do after dark...good luck! Unless you are into a party you can check out Jaguars' night club (we didn't but its a night club, not much to explain). Each night at 9:30pm they have a 45 minute show, different each night. Excursions...you have to do the ALLTOURNATIVE tours they were amazing! We did two...one was atv/zipline/maya jungle walk and swimming in a cenote. The other was a mayan village tour/lunch/walk, zip line, repel into a cenote and bike ride to see mayan ruins in coba. amazing!!! Overall I would give this resort a 4 not a 4.5 but we had a great time. Our kids are 11,14,16 and there was no teens/kids club so they were bored after the pool closed. We would visit again, but just the two of us. If you have younger kids, they have a kiddie pool/water slides and a kids club which looked great for young ones. Oh, and if you can speak Spanish that is an asset because the front desk staff (all two of them at any given time) they speak a little bit of English. The bar tenders know drink names and that is about it. Maids/other workers won't even look at you so unless you know Spanish, don't bother asking them for anything. I had to ask front desk 3 times after trying to ask maid staff for a face cloth for 3 days. Just minor things, but if you need anything good luck getting it! Also, the communication between each resort isn't the same. I asked my front desk staff what the theme at the show was for that night, at the other resort and they had no idea. Vice versa, I asked them a question about the "water park" and they had to call them and still got no answer. Mixed messages and lots of walking in the heat to find out was frustrating. The pirates waterpark costs $15 USD for one day use per person. It has a few small waterslides and a surf simulator. No shade really though so put on your sunscreen. It was open 9-5pm. It was fun for one day for our kids.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort !

My wife & I spent one week @ Barcelo Maya Colonial Beach .This was one of the best places we've ever visited. Great place for singles,couples and family.No lineups in restaurants and very good food.Rooms are extremely clean. Looking forward to going to this place again,but this time for more than seven days.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Beautiful resort!

Just got back. We are an active couple with an 11 year old son. The resort is breathtaking. grounds are very well taken care of. We like to play tennis and the sports complex is fabulous. No shortage of day trips to choose from. they do seem rather expensive though. Lounging around the pool is never a problem, always lots of chairs. Mexico is one of my favourite places to visit.
