Trip central did everything to make my stay pleasant! From great customer service to assuring I stay at a great resort. They even went as far as providing me details on where to park my car before leaving. The resort was accurate and as listed on trip central. Staff continue to be this resort's biggest asset...friendly, professional and personable; Grounds continue to be spectacular; Rooms and buildings showing their age - re-fresh needed; Beach is cleaned daily of seaweed and the golden, sand gleams magnificently under the hot Caribbean sun; Quality of food has declined noticeably over the past few years...cuts of meat are not as nice, fresh orange juice tastes powder-made; Repeat guests counts for little or nothing.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Trip review

This resort is big and clean but the staff look very missarable not friendly don't want to help and they don't think your request is important. The rooms are not cleaned properly and you have to ask for towels. When you ask the front desk for anything you are told come back tomorrow again and again very frustrating. Immigration was a bunch of bullies and think they have a lot of power very rude I would never go back to this resort or Dominican Republic again.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great Resort - OK Beach

The Iberostar Costa Dorada was a great place to stay. The food was good (not amazing), the staff were friendly and the entertainment were fun. The resort is a quick 20 minute drive from the airport and is located right on the beach with a view of mountains in the background. We enjoyed that the buffet offered a variety of options that were different each night. We liked the 3 a la carte dinners as well. Overall I have nothing bad to say about the Iberostar Costa Dorada, but I also wasn't amaz [... read more]ed by it. We visited Bahia Principe in Mexico last year and I would say we enjoyed it a lot more (but maybe this is Mexico as a whole). For an affordable, small resort, the Iberostar will not disappoint. Also, if you have time to partake in the excursion to Paradise Island you will not regret it - what an amazing experience!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: A 3,5 star at best

We have stayed at a Bahia resort in Jamaica and had a great experience so we thought let's book at a Bahia in Punta Cana. We can't go wrong, right? *Check-in was disastrous and finally fixed a few hours later. *Service was substandard. After my husband made several attempts to arrange a late checkout he was denied again by the manager and told to just file a complaint! *Rooms were cleaned 4 days out of our 7 and the fridge was never stocked. *The entertainment is ok but not well organized  [... read more]and you'll find yourself trying to find what is going on when it just abruptly ends at midnight. Overall, we were very disappointed in this resort and will never go back or recommend it.

Nice big resort no more than a 4 star all of our stays were in 5 stars all they need to improve to a top resort would the following: pools are every where but they cater to the bottom floor seems like you are invading their privacy would need another main pool on each side of building 4 (just 1 main pool), Beds are unbelievable uncomfortable never slept so bad on any of my holidays, and food was just alright. We were there to decide where to go for our 25th anniversary coming in April for 2 weeks and it was between here and Valentines in the Mayans . Valentines definitely won!!!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Bahia Principe for us

One of Bahia Principe Resorts in Punta Cana is one of our yearly destinations. When we get there we feel like we got home. We love the fact that the resort is big, the beach is large and the water gets deep gradually. And the daily journeys with the trams make you think of childhood 😊. The rooms are standard and we were lucky not to have any issues with them so far during so many trips there. There is a good selection of restaurants. We always love to go to the Steak and BBQ ones.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great spot!

My partner and I really enjoyed this hotel. It’s beautiful, modern, small and adult only! We had a lovely time for our week long stay and came back very very relaxed. The food at the beach front restaurant was the best of the whole resort and after a night of pina coladas and mojitos, the 24/hr room service was a nice touch. The mattresses were a bit hard but the pillows were great! The entertainment team was also great, very friendly and the nightly performances were full of talent! Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful hotel and immaculate gardens!

Our room was gorgeous with a huge wrap around balcony, but we were disappointed that we had to use bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth etc. In the morning you had to wait 10 mins for the water to run warm then another 40 mins to fill the Jacuzzi to the jet level. In our room fridge, along with 2 beer, water and soft drinks, there were only 3 miniature bottles of alcohol - not enough for 2 people, and that was your daily quota. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful

We travelled to the Bavaro Barcelo Beach (adult side) December 2018. It was a wonderful experience! The buffet food was very good, although they could have changed it up more. The restaurants for the most part were average and I wouldn’t keep high expectations for taste and quality. However, the buffets are splendid. Bowling, golf, waterpark, kids club etc. All had extra charges. They should consider eliminating this as it’s an ALL inclusive resort. We did some scuba diving and we loved the experience. The spa was awesome and we were happy most of the regular services were included with our package. The gym was also fantastic given it serviced both resorts. Might want to consider opening another gym on the adult side as well. The views from our room were spectacular. Honestly, really good value for the Canadian dollar. Emotions by Hodelpa Juan Dolio: Not as advertised - Paid more than it was worth

Understanding that resort ratings can vary from country to country please understand that my review will be as objective as possible. Also note that my back ground is in facilities management as I currently manage 185 facilities of various sizes or 11 000 000 square feet of occupied space for over 1200 people. Rating scale out of 5, with 5 being the highest. Legitimate Hotel Rating: 3 as compared to the Sandals Brand Transfer to the hotel from the airport: 3 - About a 2 hour trip, no st [... read more]ops, no bathrooms. Road conditions are very good and well policed so I felt safe the entire way there and back. Condition of Hotel: 3 - based on the over all condition of the rooms and the resort. The grounds are well kept, including pools and common areas. The rooms are in varying states of disrepair and the original build quality is not great. Our rooms had mold around the air conditioning supply line, could be corrected with a little insulation, the doors on our closet were broken, or taken off, the bathroom fan did not work, the caulking around the sing was pulled away from the wall the in room safe did not work. Gym: 5 - The gym is excellent, free weights, modern equipment, lots of space, heavy bag. Spa: 4.5 - The spa is excellent, steam sauna etc. I had a massage, it wasn't the best but not going to complain as it was included in my package. Beach & Grounds: 4.5 - excellent, safe, well maintained, no life guards and the pools are cold, there are no non motorized water sports ie. sail boats etc. There is a dive shop, extra cost, and the animation staff are always offering beach front activities, yoga, volleyball, other games, etc. Night Club: 2.5 - small, poor drink quality, not the greatest music Hotel Security: 3 - The hotel is not gated and there is no front line from road security in place. I was a little uncomfortable with this at the beginning but realized later that the hotel is in a safer area of the Dominican (walked the beach freely) and that there were security roaming the various access areas, beach etc. There were vendors on the beach but they were respectful and did not harass, I would simply say No mas and they would go away. Hotel Staff: 4 - Make sure you book as a VIP, this is a time share resort and you will receive preferred treatment as a VIP. Front desk staff do not make customer service a priority regardless of your guest status. VIP rooms are near the beach, our house keeper, Pool/beach waitress Adileni, bartender (Toni night bartender), dinning and kitchen staff went out of their way to make our stay special. Maintenance staff were always working on the grounds, our room deficiencies were never addressed but that's probably more of a management thing. Food: 3.5 - I would have rated this a 3 but the New Years celebration was over the top with amazing food selection and quality. The reservations for dinning were very hard to get, the buffet was the same selection day after day, the food was Ok and as they say, "we could always find something" (at a real 4+star this isn't something you say). breakfast was the best meal of the day. My go too's were the egg station, pasta bar, soup & bread (both amazing). Fresh fruit at breakfast was great too. There were restaurants that you could pay to eat and drink that I did not go to. Beverage quality and options: 2 - The coffee bar was excellent though regular coffee at the buffet was terrible, juices were chemical tasting or may some kind of concentrate, fountain pop was typically flat, not fresh, alcohol was sub standard and I think the draft beer was non alcohol "near bear". Al in all, not even close to 4+ star quality

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort but a little too big

Grounds: the property was beautiful! Huge trees, tons of flowers and greenery, clean, perfectly manicured walkways, ponds and flamingos everywhere. One of the nicest resort properties i've ever visited. Rooms: We had upgraded to the Reserve which is a private area with massive suites on the resort. This area has it's own pool, buffet etc. HOWEVER it is the furthest area from the beach and the main restaurants so you have to wait for a golf cart anytime you want to go basically anywhere. Dining: Food was meh. Buffet was not great, they had like 3 small buffets scattered bc resort was big with the same thing offered at each. Would have preferred a larger buffet with more food options. the selection didnt change much and the taste was meh. We never went for seconds or overly indulged ever. Drinks: there were lots of bars and areas to get a drink, never had to go too far which was really nice. lots of drink options and quick service. They were friendly to the teens too and didnt give them a hard time either. The restaurants we booked were surprising all meh in taste as well. was super disappointed with the food. It wasnt as bad as Cuba but it was close. Pools: pools were big, clean and surrounded by beautiful trees/flowers and pool chairs. Almost all the chairs were reserved by 9am every morning so you basically had to pay the pool staff to get you one. Once you figured out thats how it worked, it was fine. Beach: Gorgeous white sand beach, long strip so you could walk forever. We had a windy week so I cant comment on the water bc it was probably a bit less calm than usual but was still nice. Lots of seating on the beach, nice little bar as well for drinks.

Very clean everywhere & well maintained; rooms, restaurants, toilettes, sidewalks , grounds, pool & beach! Relaxing resort; soft, music at the pool / no loud music at the beach. We always choose an all-inclusive / adults only resorts the week between X-Mas & New Years so we have a great party to attend! This one was no different; it was a great party! Points to improve; staff at lobby should be more knowledgeable /aware of what's happening in their resort. ie: New Year's Eve party - on the 30th NO Lobby Staff knew what kind of party it was going to be, where, how , start of festivities.....Finally on the morning of the 31st they put up a board with menus ...but that's it....huuummm! asked for activities & if the TV/Screen wasn't working no one knew or had the info ...you finally figure it out if you happen to pass by - good thing this resort isn't big! Aside from Lobby staff in need of being more in tuned with their facilities, everyone was pleasant, polite and respectful with smiles! p.s. I would recommend the Person in charge of room cleaning take time to check their staff work. EVERY DAY in our room either a glass was missing on dirty! if you have a coffee machine, it needs coffee & not 2 cups & 1 saucer ??? sometimes we had 1 face*towel & sometimes none. We asked for the patio screen to be fix 3 times - each time they came right away to fix it BUT never check what happens when you open the glass door!.......it didn't fit! and last, the cleaning lady NEVER broomed the patio - she would place the couch pillows but nothing else.... Doesn't need much for this resort to become a 5 star ! simply better follow-up with staff!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Not the same Bahia

I was Bahias biggest booster,stayed at P.Plata,Punta Cana and Mayin Bahias over the past decade and loved them all.After a few years away figured lets go back but to La Romana,it was not the same. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: So much potential

This resort has so much potential that it, unfortunately, did not live up to. Room: We stayed in building 9. The room was okay, definitely needs touchups - there was small cracks in the drywall/ceiling, the grout needs cleaned, the bathtub jets do not work, the drapes snag on the tracks and part was falling off. We seemed to have it good compared to some in the adults only where they showed pictures of drywall dust in their room, no drapes, and construction next door. We did hear they were completing the adults only and renovating some other rooms so maybe ours was on the list to be redone. Beach - the water was rough and lots of seaweed. I'm not sure if it's this time of year but the staff did say they had quite a few rough storms come through. There's lots of shades and activites happening at the beach. Pool - the resort has a lot of pools (some Adults Only) but we only went to the main pool. The pool is a good sized but definitely needs renovation. There are lots of rocks and sand in the pool. Some of the concrete is falling apart (there are even pot holes in the bottom). The pool bar is great though - it gets lots of shade and the bartenders there are friendly with great service. Entertainment/activities - probably the best part of our trip! The resort has lots of activities at the pool, beach, and in the evening. The entertainment staff is friendly, approachable, and tries to get everyone involved. There are lots of activities for people of all interests/age ranges (e.g. foam party, daily spanish lessons, zumba). Food - Definitely not a fan of the food. We did two a la cartes (Mexican and Steak) - both left my stomach feeling off and unwell. The buffett was okay, a lot of selection - most of the food was doused in cream or butter (especially the veggies). There is a kids section that will cater to picky eaters or kids and they always have the basics. Service - this was probably the most frustrating part of our experience. The service was AWFUL. From waiting for drinks at the buffet (we would be almost done eating before we would get them) to the inconsistency in what staff says. The service was definitely lacklustre and could do with a huge improvement. Overall, the staff seemed hardworking and friendly but did not go above and beyond to keep guests happy. Overall the resort was okay but I would not return. The grounds are beautiful and the resort has so much potential. With proper staff traaining, some renovations, and focus on customer service, it has the ability to live up to its 4 star rating.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Resort Needs an update

We have been to this Resort many times but it’s truly showing it’s wear and tear, it definitely needs an update and also needs help as far as handicap rooms and handicap transportation to and from al a carte restaurants. The rooms are not equipped for the handicap nor the restaurants. Most of the Staff are the best part of this resort along with the beach. The food needs help, it has definitely changed and not for the best.

Excellence Punta Cana: Hotel full of Thieves

I unfortunately did not notice this until we had returned home and were unpacking, but we are missing $30 in cash and about $300 in the loss of my rose-gold bracelets. I am severely dismayed by this fact and have traced it back to the bracelet loss taking place on our last day. We had taken items from the safe as we were packing and ran down for lunch while housekeeping was in our room. I didnt check the items once we returned to the room. I cannot tell you how invasive and disgusting that i [... read more]s. I did some research after that and found over 800 reviews of people who have had items stolen at this resort. Yes, I read the reviews before hand, but they also have over 15000 reviews. Any thoughts I had about the resort prior to this are all gone. I will NEVER return to this resort and plan on telling every person I know about this and my experience. There are so many resorts at the same caliber in PC, chose another one.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Good, but wouldn't come in the holiday season.

I enjoyed staying at the hotel, but wouldn't recommend coming here during the holiday season. The grounds are nice: clean, lots of birds and very green. The beach is nice and clean as well and there is an artificial reef, the fish were very friendly. Once you get in the water the bottom is mostly rocks. However, the lack of furniture in the room was upsetting. There was no desk, no chairs and the sad shelf that we did have was slanted and we were afraid to put too much stuff on it. The holid [... read more]ay dinners were good, but it was just too crowded and loud to enjoy it to the fullest. Also, the service wasn't on the level. It was hard to get the attention of the waiters for anything during meals and their English is generally poor. But the second that about a third of people left, the service became soooooooo much better. I would say that one can definitely give this hotel a try in the less not so busy seasons and surely you will get more bank for your buck.
