Melia Varadero: Beautiful Varadero!

Melia Varadero Resort: We travel twice a year and this is not our first time to Varadero, but it is to this resort. We upgraded to the Level and were glad to do so...mostly for the food and service. We found the food to be inconsistent and the breakfast buffet was less than appetizing - there was an odor that put me off of anything they offered, but my husband liked the omelets, and the service for them went fairly quickly as there are 2 stations for the omelets - one a pan omelet and one is a  [... read more]flattop grill on the other side of the bar.... The level offered a continental breakfast which was far superior to the buffet with wonderful meats, cheeses and specialty breads not offered on the buffet. Lunch was best at the grill by the pool. As Level members, you could go to the steakhouse for lunch, the service is slow, the food is OK...but do try the stuffed squid, one of the best I've ever had - the cook on it was superb! Alas, we tried them again the next day and the cook was somewhat off, but they were still delicious... That's the thing with Melia - the inconsistency of the food... one day it's spectacular and the next was mediocre... do have the chicken curry and the pork at the Fuerteventura...this was our favourite place to eat.. we first had the lobster, then we tried the other food and decided the lobster was for the "newbies" LOL - you will always start with the lobster, but do venture out and try the other food. The best dessert by far was the Panecotta there, but again, the next day...not so great! The beaches are kept wonderful and the Level people have an area blocked off just past the bar. I think they used to serve food at that bar - but not when we were there. Only by the pool. The service in that area on the beach is fantastic, to the point of when your towel moved, the gentleman would come and fix it for you and dust off the sand from your chairs! So nice! Varadero beaches are very nice. It does have a few rocks so bring your swim shoes. The room was average, and as level occupants, I would have liked to have seen a coffee maker instead of a kettle - but I ordered room service every morning for my coffee, awesome coffee! Room cleaning was top notch - very clean! I have to say that they do not have a box of tissue in the rooms...I had a cold so I really needed more that the single pack of travel tissues they leave for you...LOL I was blowing with toilet paper...a little rough! Weird at the level service... The service at the regular bars on the compound are not great. We found that if they came and asked you for a drink by the pool in the morning and you said no thank you, that they would not ever return to you that day and you would have to go to the bar to get a drink...no swim up bar either! Which brings me to the pool, it is not heated but in the heat we were in, it was just fine by me! Someone had mentioned that it was very clean...we did not find that... it was OK but there was a bathtub ring around the upper pool where we were, so not great but very good! I asked about a bingo game or other games around the pool and was told that they did not do this.. MANAGEMENT!: Take Heed! You must start up a game of sorts every day so that your guest can win a small bottle or token of their trip...this is the very first resort I have been at that did not do this. was very disappointed as I love games...not good at them, but I still love them! They do have a lot of entertainment around in the evenings (not games) which I thought was super fantastic...put a smile on our faces every night.... All in all I've given them 4 stars as the check in was fantastic (level) and the people are so friendly...some food was great...we tipped a lot... I spent $200.00 in 5 days there, just in tips. I do believe that if you can afford to go on a vacation - you can afford to tip...I'm sure these people do not make the same kind of money we do in Canada. They really need the extra $. The room was comfy with a beautiful view and again the people really are helpful. So sorry if I sounded negative on this review - I tried to give both the good and the bad...the bad really wasn't too much of a hindrance...this is a lovely place - would I return? No, but I never do! Too much to see out there in the world...

Resonance Blu Varadero: Best resort we have ever stayed at!!

Wow...the food was awesome,fresh fish on the grill every night.So much to choose from.The bacon at Breakfast,was delish.Our room was well cleaned,amazing staff.The resort was huge,grounds were looked after well.The beach was the best!! The cave was great...loved the drinks!

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Great Resort for three price

Hotel is in need of some repairs but clean. Pool and beach were great food was a good variety every day Elevator broke down twice but was fixed quickly .there is a great flea market just around the corner of the resort and they also have some great local bars just a short walk from the resort

Grand Memories Varadero: Lovely Resort

My best friend and I stayed from April 1-8, 2016. We stayed in building 23 room 203. Room was perfect. No issues at all. Nice washroom, no problem getting clean towels. We left gifts for the maid every day, maybe that helps, who knows. The resort is beautiful and clean. The food is not wonderful, it's Cuba. There is a great variety of food, it just might not be to everyone's taste (pardon the pun). Beaches are second to none. Varadero is gorgeous. I would go back in a heartbeat. :O)

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Ocean Varadero El Patriarca

The resort was very clean, good food, Mikes Cafe was great, awesome beach! The activities were well run and entertaining. Went with 11 people and had a great time, and we had perfect weather for the week.

Starfish Varadero: Great stay for having enjoyable time or relaxing

I do not have one negative thing to say about our stay at Aguas Azules. Our bungalow was really nice, very clean and kept well supplied. The amenities and entertainment were great - and the food was plentiful in variety and delicious. The people, as always in Cuba were warm, friendly, inviting and I shall visit them all again in the future.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Beautiful Beach, Nice Resort

Hotel was nice, the beach was beautiful. Buffet was OK, but like any buffet it gets old fast. The Oriental and Italian restaurants were great. Front desk staff NOT great after complaining about bugs!!

Starfish Varadero: 1st timer here!!!

This was my 1st time on a resort, it was amazing. From the swans on my bed to the pelicans on the beach gorgeous wonderful place, the staff is so friendly and inviting it makes it very hard to leave after only 7 days. The pools are super nice and clean. The buffet with so many different options, Yum! Just a great experience for me and I can't wait to go back.

Brisas Del Caribe: good value for the money

I have been to Varedero eight times, my first time at the Brisas Del Caribe I was pleasantly surprised,stayed in room 363 it was close to everything, you take the elevator down to reception where there is a bar, and a terrace to have cocktails, and the best cappachino! I updated to VIP package for an extra $100, that gave me late check out and lobster dinner and a better room, well worth the money, but no coffee maker as offered. Keep in mind you are in Cuba, there was a few issues with toilet s [... read more]eats, they don't have any on the pool bathrooms! and the main pool is very busy and noisy but they other pool was very quiet. I paid $700 would not be the same rating if I had paid $1100

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Like heaven to me

My Eco room was immaculate. It had been renovated so fresh paint, nice deco, lovely balcony and always super clean! All the staff at this resort are awesome people, including the guys that worked with my broken door lock after midnight. The ladies at the reception, security, bartenders....lady who cleaned my room. I only have praise for all of them, never had such a great experience in Varadero. The food at the buffet and the restaurant by the beach was great. Resonance Blu Varadero: Best trip so far.

The resort and its staff was wonderful. I loved the food and variety of a la cart restaurants there were on site. The nexus staff at the resort was always available to help us out, no matte how crazy out excursion schedule was (one a day). Love all the day trips we went on. The only negative I have is the "cuban time". Out buses were sometime late which ate into out day trip time. Other than that it was an overall wonderful trip.

Club Kawama: GREAT VACATION!!

Well first thing is when your on holidays try not to have super high expectations if thats the case then go book a vacation at Sandals or Breezes. The beach is the best beach ever Hawaian style no joke. Clean beach white sand and warm water. The hotel is clean the staff are awesome. We had room 1608 which is the nicer side of Kawama. We ventured out to the 40's and it is a big difference....needs updated and some repairs but the beach bar serves better drinks, better music and better food :) We  [... read more]ventured out almost everyday to each on the strip....Kikis and Sangria are excellent and not too far. We only had salad at Capones. The strip is safe and ride all day for $5 on the double decker bus. Taxis are $6 to get to the strip as far as Beetles bar, which is alot of fun by the way. We ate at so many small places and it is a fun town Veradera. Try the $36 excursion for snorkeling and cave...that is a good deal. The only thing that i might suggest Kawama to do is add a daily event page to each room when the cleaners are cleaning. We never knew when the activities were, found out from other guests or as the event was happening. We also do not like that locals can come in and out as they please....not sure if management is aware of this but its fun to listen to some crazy stories. We met alot of people from around the globe. I would not recommend Kawama for kids, not too much going on for them. We were two girl friends over 50 just having some relaxing girl time. Would go again to Veradera but may want to try another resort. Have fun, we sure did

Hotel Villa Cuba: Beautiful hotel!

Absolutely loved this hotel. Very clean and the food was great. We had our own villa which I would recommend to anyone going to this resort. We had our own pool. We only used the pool once but for people with children it would be great.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Amazing Cuba for 373$

Couldn't be happier! Moncton, Cuba flight direct 2.5 star hotel are the best! People that go there are well aware at what to expect and not very difficult to go to. So we went and dropped or suitcase into the room, rented a car and traveled down to Vinales and up to Cayo Jutias both paradise that you should go in the world. A big thank you to the staff at trip central and Air transat.

Hotel Tuxpan: 10 days at the Tuxpan

The Tuxpan is an older and dated resort. Most of the staff are amazing and go out of their way for the guest. Yandy at the coffee bar is the best and makes the most amazing coffee! Henry at the beach grill is fantastic and is always smiling. The buffet staff are not attentive to guest and often we were not offered even a glass of water or had to find our own utensils. The food has improved this year and having the option of wifi was a bonus. However the resort often did not have internet cards a [... read more]vailable. Rooms are your typical 4 star Cuban resort and could use an updating but were always clean. The grounds are very clean as was the pool. The outdoor BBQ's was a nice touch this year and adds more options other than the buffet and beach grill. I can not say enough about the beach, it is absolutely stunning and beautiful! The location of the Tuxpan is perfect as it is less than an hour walk into town are a short cab ride. I would return to this resort for the right price.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: good resort

good resort, Food is good and a good variety, rooms could use a little up date, best beach along that strip, most of staff very friendly. Have been here twice before and found the night shows have improved a lot, one negative is they need to clean up those water ways around resort, look dirty

Resonance Blu Varadero: Ok resort

Understaffed. A lot of broken items probably due to unruly guests. Example: punch holes in doors, broken fixtures. Generally, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was the best ever. Lots of palipas and chaises. Would recomend lodging in the quiet pool area. Be prepared for lots of walking between lobby and beach but a day on the beach is so worth it.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great 1st Cuba experience

The Bella Costa Hotel was exactly what we were looking for. The food was good, the staff were great and the beach was AMAZING! The fact that you could step off the stairs and onto the beach was great. The pool was great and nightly entertainment.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good value for the money

The grounds were nice, layout was great as everything was rather close for a large resort, even the beach. Rooms were tired. Food was ok, lots of choices. Great family resort - too many kids for me....

Sol Varadero Beach: Great resort, pleasently suprised

My husband and I booked this hotel based on the pictures, and were pleasently suprised. The grounds are well maintained, you get the use of both pools, beautiful beaches. The rooms and food were adequate. Most of the food is reheated, but you can wait and get fresh grilled meats which were great. There is a beach bbq everyday where its all grilled fresh. I was suprised by the negative reveiws...but if you are really in it for the beach, pools and sun, you will not be disappointed!
