Melia Costa Rey: Beautiful Property!

Stayed 7 nights in early January 2020. The rooms are modern and housekeeping did a great job to maintain a clean and tidy atmosphere during our stay. The grounds are beautiful and also well maintained. We were able to eat at all 4 a la carte restaurants which was a nice treat to get away from the buffet those nights. I was warned about the food choices in cuba being very limited and bland but that wasn’t the case here...the food was much better than I was expecting. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing Resort the staff are very attentive

I don't have a bad thing to say the staff amazing the grounds beautiful never felt so pampered anything we asked for they never said no the beach bar awesome friendly staff Hector was amazing so many staff to mention they make your stay beautiful

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Stay at Cayo Santa maria

The resort was very nice clean and the people were great. I find the rooms to have lack of everything . The soap were never replaced neither the garbage bags. Food was ok but seems to be running out of food a lot. Sunwing représentative was very nice when we went to the meeting. Said if we need anything they will be there . We had a hard time finding them thruout our stay

Melia Costa Rey: Very nice resort away from all the commotion.

Considering the hotel went thru a hurricane 2 years ago they have done a good job getting it re-opened. Enjoyed the food with good variety. Enjoyed the nightly shows and the service was beyond expectation. Hopefully within a year the resort will be back to where it was before all the damage.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort

Overall great resort! Food is good, but alacarts could have been better! Rooms are clean, shows are great! Friendly stuff! We didn’t have to leave the resort for anything! Will be back again next year!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort! Enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful and well maintained resort. Rooms were clean and in good shape. Staff was very hospitable and friendly. Pool/ beach area was cleaned daily. Food was decent. Overall enjoyed our vacation. Would recommend to friends/family!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Needs a lot of work

The resort was packed . Food consistently running out like bread.bottled water for rooms unavailable for 3 days . Paid for elegance and received no robe or welcome gift . No water for 2-3 hours multiple days . No towels . Very disorganized staff . Will definitely not return . Positive - beach was great

Melia Marina Varadero: 3-3.5 star resort

Not a bad resort but not 5-star worthy. I would give it a 3-3.5 star rating. Food was okay but usually the same all over Cuba so I wasn’t too concerned about that. The staff were friendly and never had an issue with them. The rooms could’ve been cleaner and we found a couple cockroaches. Overall not a bad experience but have been to better.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Very nice resort

Everything was on par to our expectations.Staff are the best.Rooms were clean.Food good for Cuba . Bartenders were always there.Shows and live music was also very good.Hotel was secluded for privacy.Gardens were well groomed.

Resonance Blu Varadero: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

If you're read other reviews, you've noticed that they range from one end of the spectrum to the other. Everything from terrible to fantastic. Here's what our thoughts were on Memories Varadero Beach. If you go there with the mindset that you're going to have a great time, enjoy the sun, the people, the drinks, the entertainment, then you'll definitely have a good time! We lucked out and had a decent room, very clean, no issues, but we met others who had to request a different room because of issues. Once moved, they were satisfied. Most of the staff we very friendly, the entertainment was quite good (especially the Michael Jackson show and the Aqua-Dance)! Food was typical for Cuba -- it was good, but you got tired of it after a week. We never experienced any shortages of food, dishes or utensils, etc., and didn't need to use the extra condiments we brought with us. As you've likely read elsewhere, bring toilet paper with you, both for your room and with you when using the public washrooms. We were ok in our room, but needed our own TP occasionally when by the pools or buffet. Other thoughts: - the beach is FANTASTIC! Huge, clean, good activities. - tourists are almost evenly split between Canadians and Russians. No issues, everyone gets along and it's neat to meet people from your home country as well as halfway around the world. - landscaping and grounds were nice! Finally, bring gifts and tips for everyone. Cuba is a very poor country (just take a tour to Havana or any other town/city, and you'll see just HOW poor!), so anything you can bring them helps! It's also customary in Cuba, so don't break custom. Enjoy! We did!

Be Live Turquesa: Had a Great 2019 Christmas Vacation

our family of four enjoyed our stay at Be Live Turquesa over the 2019 - 2020 New Years ring in. The white beach and warm ocean water were great. The staff were friendly and attentive. The buffet had a good selection of food; pork dishes were very good, breads were always fresh. The rooms were functional, always enough hot water for a shower. No health / stomach issues from drinking water or ice in drinks.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Outdated

Got this vacation last minute no time for research. Arrived there reception was overwhelmed stayed in line about an hour. We were told the room was not ready so we waited for about 4 hours. Again stayed in line for another hour only to be told that we have to wait another hour. The grounds, beach and ocean are beautiful, other than that not a very good experience. the only restaurant is too small for the size of the resort (line ups all the time). Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served only betw [... read more]een certain hours. At the 24h snack bar the food is not good to say it nicely so if you didn't get to breakfast, nothing to eat until 12:30pm. Also they were out of potatoes for the entire week. There is only one bar on the beach which was on the opposite side of the resort (a good walk), we stayed in the Luna side. Rooms and bathroom very outdated, the towels smell disgusting..

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: A Beautiful Place for New Years

This is a very beautiful resort situated all on its own on Cayo Ensenachos in the midst of a protected biosphere. Two long sandy beaches are available with one featuring some incredible snorkeling without the need for a boat. We stayed in the Spa section which is limited to adults but toured all the grounds which have amazing vegetation. Whether you eat in the main buffet or any one of the 4 a la carte restaurants you won't be disappointed. Rooms are spacious and only 2 storeys high. Gran Muthu Imperial: Great Resort

It was the perfect size. The facilities were clean and pleasant. The food was good and always a lot to choose from. Beautiful rooms with great service. My only complaint is that the gym opened at 9:00 am it would have been preferable to be open at 6:30 or 7:00 am.

From the moment we entered the hotel impressive lobby, to checking into our room everything was AWESOME! I have been to Cuba on 5 other occasions and this by far was one of the best. The food at the main buffet had so many options, and the servers were always wanting to help ensure that drinks were served and tables were cleaned up after use. The beaches we spacious as the resort had two of them, the white sand and lush property was quite impressive.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Lousy food

The hotel was nice the beach and pool were nice the food was terrible when we got to our room there was no water or coffee and the mini bar was empty we did not get water coffee beer till six pm the next day we will never go back

Its a very clean and nice small resort with lots of activists and fun ..and very beautiful beach plus the snack bar has a very good chicken and fish bbq.the only Thing that I was not satisfied was the shower, we had a third floor ocean view room and the water pressure was almost nothing . The food wasn’t the best you would most likely will find something you will like. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Bed bugs!

This hotel has bed bugs that need to be eliminated! Very disappointed about this issue! We were in room 1402 and that is where the problem is. Perhaps in other rooms as well. Cleaning staff must check for this problem daily.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great Place for Family Vacation

We were a party of 12 for a friends and family vacation. This was our first trip to Cuba, and it won't be our last. We were very happy with the resort - not too big, and not too small. The grounds were well-kept, pool was sparkling clean, and rooms were clean and comfortable, even though a bit dated. No one in our party had any issues with their rooms - all was in good working order. The'beach' area we actually were very happy with, even though there is only a small portion of actual beach that goes directly into the water. The rest of the beach area is covered with a dock, with steps directly into the water. Our party actually preferred the dock area - this way we weren't getting sand where it didn't belong. The steps from the dock into the water were in need of repair - a couple steps missing and one that was only half attached - but certainly not a deal-breaker! The ocean was gorgeous! The water was so clear and the bottom was soft sand. We could see many different starfish and conch shells in the water. The snorkeling was great too! Just down from our resort was Pilar Beach - it truly is one of the most beautiful beaches! The buffet restaurant was ok..... We were told that the food wasn't great, however we found that there was always something to eat, and never went hungry - even the picky eaters in our group were ok with the food. We will be back to Cuba, and would like to go back to this resort. The staff were so friendly! Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Fantastic resort! Would definitely return!

Just got back from here yesterday. Fyi, it’s already changed names to Lagunas Del Mar. 🤣 Food was not that bad - Compared to all the other Cuban resorts I’ve been to! House red wine sucks but you can actually buy a better brand from the bar by the bottle. Breakfast is 7-10, Lunch is 1-3 and dinner is 7-10. The lobby bar has a cappuccino and latte machine and they are delicious. You can actually even ask for one while eating in the buffet and they will go get you one 😉 Pool is  [... read more]fantastic, pretty big with lots of different levels and areas, soooo many chairs there’s no need to save one early in the morning. Snack bar at the beach is the best food & drink by far. But there’s also a pretty good 24 hour snack bar by the pool. They serve many different types of sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs & french fries. They serve pizza as well but only between 1 to 3 PM. There’s also a mini buffet at different times of the day. The pool also has a dedicated bar, one side is swim up but wasn’t used when I was there since there were just not enough tourists. I cannot say enough good things about the two guys who are running the pool bar, Michel and the Yosmel. They are both such friendly souls and always willing to help with a smile on their face. They are also willing to make any drink you can dream up or suggest one if you just can’t decide. If there is no one at the bar requesting a drink Michel will wander around the poolside taking orders and making deliveries, smiling and saying hi to almost everyone on the way. They keep the bar area spotless and are constantly washing the tables and rearranging the chairs to make it look inviting. Not sure if it was just my week, but it was blissfully empty - no line-ups anywhere. Get 2 keycards - one needs to be in slot just inside room for all power to work. You need to leave it in all day if you want to come back to an air conditioned room! The ‘machine’ at the resort bank was ‘down’ all week 🙄 so I couldn’t get out any money by credit card. But they have no problem exchanging money you already have. So bring lots of Canadian $$. *** EXCITING NEWS***** I took a cab to the ATM near the international medical clinic (8 cuc) and I actually used my Canadian bank card to get money out. And my bank card does not have a visa symbol on it. It’s just a regular old chip bank card**** Excursions can be purchased using credit card. You will need your provincial drivers licence & credit card to rent a moped. There were all types of entertainment the week that I was there: The usual Cuban stage show - I know almost every Cuban resort has a Michael Jackson show but none rival the one that I saw here. I literally felt like I was watching Michael Jackson himself. There was also a live 7-8 person Cuban band playing in the downstairs bar one evening, An extremely talented solo guitarist in the lobby, And a fantastic 1980’s cover band by the pool one night. The phone parties in the pool were a blast. Regardless of age, everyone got in on the fun and laughed like children!
