Tryp Cayo Coco: Home away from home

Such an amazing place. Everything close to hand. Clean and well maintained. So much food, never left feeling hungry! Amazing view, incredible people. I would recommend this resort to everyone. Always feel so welcomed.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: A little disappointed

Lacking a few essentials like t.p. only had pool towels changed once in 10 days laundry broke down one day so no clean towels in the room ran out of certain items at the buffet staff tried to accommodate as best they could tho

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Sad state of affairs. Pack extra.

I’ll start with: I understand that a lot of folks say you travel to Cuba for the beaches and the people. Those two did not disappoint. The catamaran excursion was also a lot of fun! Lunch at the marina included lobster. This was the third visit to Cuba for myself and the beaches do not disappoint. I was prepared with an entire extra suitcase filled with things to eat and gift however it still was not enough. The coffee maker in the room is nespresso I believe but comes with no pods, so d [... read more]oes not function. I wish I had packed a kettle to save myself a walk to their bar for boiling water to prepare the food I brought. The lighting is not great at night time. The buffet lacked basics (bread/butter/eggs/fruit/potato/fries) for most of the duration of my stay. Maybe bad timing? The location had a lot of potential but I suspect lacks management and resources. Often there was no wine, even in the restaurants and several times during my stay they would completely disconnect water to the rooms (shower/taps) so having a shower after a day on the beautiful beach wasn’t an option. Reception didn’t have any information regarding the outages. When I read about water shortages, I assumed drinking water. Which was also the case. The flight was terrible. It was westjet hosting a cheap Swoop plane and a story for another day.. Gift ideas: baby formula - there are shortages for the kiddos. Medicine, feminine products, bandaids, easy instant snacks, spices, (they have salt and pepper) hot sauce/sauce packets from that collection in your fridge and a small kettle!

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Disappointing Week

We booked our week at the Coral Esmeralda because it was listed as a 5 star resort, and because it was a smaller, adults-only resort. It had some positive aspects. Since it was small and adults-only, we enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk with a number of people during the week. The entertainment each evening was very good -- talented dancers, singers and musicians.The beach was beautiful, as was the pool area. We especially appreciated Denny and Roberto, the lifeguards. Some of the staf [... read more]f were friendly and helpful, at all the venues, including the buffet restaurant, and the lobby and pool bars. The gardeners, especially, greeted us cheerfully every day. Others, not so much. Some of the management level staff seemed disinterested. Although water was supposed to be delivered to our room daily, it did not always appear. We reported this, and nothing happened. Toilet paper was in short supply, and often the dispensers in the washrooms in the lobby and at the pool bar were empty. The supply of toilet paper in our room was very limited. We could have bought some at the small store near the lobby, but didn't feel that should have been necessary. . Currency was a significant issue throughout the week. We had Canadian currency, but staff wanted US dollars for tips. Since Canadian tourists contribute significantly to the Cuban economy, we were were very confused by this. They also were not interested in receiving Cuban pesos. There was enough food, but little variety, and it would have helped if it had been labelled. Both the menu and venue of the a-la-carte restaurants were disappointing.

Gran Muthu Imperial: NEVER AGAIN!!!

You don't go to Cuba for the food but this was ridiculous. No coffee for 4 days, no potatoes, only 1 fresh fruit, ran out of eggs, no spoons on the table..you had to find someone to get you one. Only pudding and Ice cream for desert. The ala carte restaurants served exactly the same food as the buffet. Storage of room towels and half the time the toilets would not flush. Also the worst beach we've seen in the Caribbean. Not groomed...rotting seaweed and so many stones and broken shells that  [... read more]you couldn't walk barefoot on the sand. In short...NEVER AGAIN!!!

Melia Costa Rey: Amazing Time

We stayed at Gran Marena Collections for 2 weeks Feb 7-21. We didn’t have high expectations due to all the reviews about Cuba. Well Collections exceeded everything! The room was perfect-always had hot water, a real king size bed and a perfect view. The adults only pool was very relaxing, the only suggestion would be more cabanas. Food was amazing at the Gourmet restaurant for all 3 meals. The a la carts were all really good especially Italian and Cuban. The staff were all excellent, friendly  [... read more]and most spoke English. Extra bonus was it was only 15 mins to the hotel.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Worst resort

No toilet paper, no coffee, no hot water, no cola, very limited food. Worst resort ever and would not recommend this resort to anyone unless they are prepared to have very limited things. Staff and pool were good

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Great Resort

Nice resort but unfortunately the lack of food with all the shortages makes it not worth the price we paid. It would be nice to get a discount on our next trip that we would be happy to deal with you on our next vacation.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Not the best experience

As a frequent visitor to Cuba to various areas and different resorts I can safely say that I will not be returning to this one. I won't be repetitious and complain too much about the food as I am aware that Cuba is currently experiencing supply issues but this was my worst experience with food in the 25+ years I have been traveling to Cuba. I think what was the most disappointing was the lack of beach. With Pillar Beach within a 30 minutes walk (bring water shoes) I was expecting a beautiful str [... read more]etch of beach not a small patch of shipped in sand over grass and rocks. The boardwalks were lovely if you could get a spot. The rooms were adequate but could use some updating and the beach views were great. The resort appeared to be understaffed so line ups were the norm. I did enjoy the one excursion that I went on which was out of the resort on a small catamaran to an island for snorkeling.

Melia Costa Rey: Never again

It’s very old. We were on ground floor which was flooded with sewage water in the hallway & bathrooms. We had a difficult time to move upstairs. There was no hot water at all. The ala cart reservations sucked they book it for you & you cannot change unless you pay the guy. We only had the chance to use it once because they were full. This hotel should be de listed from the all sites.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Loved every moment here

Was just there last week on a bestie trip. We were living our best lives and loving all the resort had to offer. Sure it's not offering gourmet food, but we were not focus on that one bit. We signed up for the beach and the sunshine and was not once dissapointed. There are people who focus on what's lacking and choose misery over joy. Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Dull

Waiting around for stuff to start. Constantly chasing to lobby for wifi connection. Uninterested in shows from the beginning, hopefully they got better we never stayed through one bc they were not that interesting. Water off in rooms for toilets flushing between 12-6am. Food never hot. Pictures didn’t make it seem that far from a good beach. But to the larger beach it was a 5 min bus ride.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Don’t waste your money!

Have been to Cuba many times, in many different areas, so we can honestly say this is the worst hotel we have stayed at in Cuba. The only positives were the nice guests we met at the resort and the weather. Our room,1107, did not have hot water for the entire week of our stay. Maintenance came twice but did not fix the problem. Management refused to move us to another room, stating the hotel was full. With guests coming and going everyday, this request should not have been an issue. Dinin [... read more]g room tables were not cleaned promptly, not enough plates in the dining room for the amount of guests. White wine was very hard to come by. Food choices were limited. Chairs were stained. Staff attitudes in the dining room were less than desirable when you asked for something. Public washrooms were not cleaned properly, no toilet paper, no hand soap, for the duration of our 1 week stay. Lounge chairs were stained, umbrellas for lounge chairs were broken. Puddles of water in the hotel hallways due to faulty plumbing. Clearly, there are major issues with this hotel. The hotel is mismanaged. More like a 2 star. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. This was our first and last time at an Iberostar resort!

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort

Loved this resort. The size was a big plus because you were close to everything. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure you were happy. The food was great, no shortages at all. A little repetitive but that is Cuba. Beach was stunning and big. Lots of loungers so you didn't have to go early to get one. The entertainment in the lobby, live music and instruments was amazing, so talented! Added touch because theater is the same everywhere. They also gave us a deal in which we didn't even ask for and a bottle of whiskey in the room. They really do go the extra mile and this resort is a little gem ?

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Be very careful

Although it is a Memories hotel, I can tell you that visiting there on Feb 10th in what was requested being a terrace or ground floor, do to mobility issues, we were given a room on the third floor. The service as we first checked in was not that great for first impressions, and neither was the golf cart that was suppose to pick us up but he never showed up. Another couple that was vacationing there helped us with our luggage. We were told come back tomorrow at 9am to change the room, then [... read more] it was 10 and on, and on until come back at 4pm. Would you beleive it that the ones telliing us to come back were now off and a new crew was on the desk. We finally got our room at 6:30. Meanwhile we had not unpacked, and told our maid not to clean the room as we were moving out. Well she came back and took our beacch towels and gave them to someone else. The other room they gave us was infact on the ground floor but, the main entrance door did not lock at all, we only found that out the next morning when my wife went for coffee and tried the door. But the main thing in this room was no water! none, not at all, zero, not in the sink, shower or toilet. I went to the front desk and told them our situation, and that I wanted to check out and go rent a cabana somewhere. That is when they offered to transfer us to Melia Jardines del Rey. Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Huge safety concerns

A drunk guy attempt a break in at my room at 2am on my 2nd night there. Called the desk 3 times for help,no response. My trip was ruined and all my nights were sleepless. I have been totally Traumatized by this and the only compensation given was a 2hr late check out, which I had to fight for. This resort failed me, I didn't feel safe after that night. I asked that they force this individual to leave the resort, they refused, and still allowed him to consume endless amounts of alcohol. Unacce [... read more]ptable, given he tried breaking into 3 other rooms, along with mine, and breaking one of the doors. This is something that will take me a long time to mentally recover from. My first solo trip was completely destroyed.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Needs some work

The resort has the best view, best pools and great beach. Unfortunately that's where it's ends. Our toilet in our room didn't work all week, reported and wasn't fixed. Hear this ame issue from other guess. Lots of shortages at resort. But was expecting that. The food was plentiful but Unfortunately wasn't very good. Resort is starting to look alittle tired as well. It's not bad but I wouldn't return

Gran Muthu Imperial: Totally disappointing

First of all it is not an adults only resort. Secondly we got there at 11:00 am and did not get our room till 5:00 pm. They would not give us Wifi access while we were waiting. Thirdly, no pop,no eggs except the last days, and we had to stand in line to get some, not enough for everybody. They ran out of bread, coffee,wine, beerand hardly had meat for meals. Also the A la carte, were misleading as there is no Chinese and no seafood at the Mediterranean. This is a low 3 stars, and I would not recommend it to anyone. 1 positive the staff did what they could but had nothing to work with. I believe the website should be updated and reflect reality. And no condiments and things to put on our toasts in the morning

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Great Resort

Nice, big, clean rooms. Staff friendly. Beach was amazing. Food was ok, there was always something I liked. Overall a very good experience. I would go back. We stayed in block 7 which was quick.

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Valentin Cayo Cruz require lots of improvements

Bad: Dining - always missing something : bread, eggs, wine, soft drinks, water,food is always cold, my daughter had a stomach flu. Water served in the dining room had very terrible taste with lots of chlorine. Service require improvent - servants predend they do not see you too often, very ofyen it's no water in the room, difficult to change beach towel - no towels available. There are hard plastic chairs in the beach, soft only for the VIPs. It's practically no entertainment, in the evenin [... read more]gs and specially at the beach. Instead, the people from the entertainment team open the door to buffet, what I personally find very humiliated for them. Beach - not bad close to hotels, as soon as no hotels looks like a garbage site, for sure should be cleaned. Several times was no water in the shower or bath tab. Good: Very good gym, clean and with good temperature inside. Good coffee service. Conclusion: This for sure not 5 stars hotel, 21/2 max. Will not come back.
