Secrets Huatulco: Breathtaking

A beautiful resort at an amazing location! Couldn't get enough of the breathtaking view, not just from the beach or pool, but from our room. The staff was very pleasant and professional. Not having to worry about dinner reservations was great and something that we will look for in future bookings.

Very beautiful place, lots of attention to detail. Flowers everywhere. The people were very friendly and hardworking, always a smile for us. I love to swim the pools are very large and great for doing laps.

The Silversands is a place I would highly recommend. Everything from the superb service and food, to their elegant property and gorgeous beach..... this was a first class experience I would do all over again. I've never returned to the same place twice at an all inclusive after many years of travelling, the Secrets Silversands will be my first.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: return visit

This was my second visit to SSS ,after last years initial week. I never return to resorts, as there's so many out there that offer something different, BUT Secrets was that good ! Great food, exceptionally pleasant and accommodating staff, fantastic rooms ( their showers and amenities offered , shampoo etc. are fantastic) wonderful nightlife , with a crowd that doesn't "roll up the carpets" at 9;00 p.m.. Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Beautiful resort with amazing staff!

The grounds were beautiful. Food was amazing. And the service and staff we top notch! I would recommend Secrets Peurto Los Cabo to people looking for a relaxing vacation where even the little details are taken care of.

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Pretty but not great

The hotel was beautiful and having everything in one building was handy. The let down was the service. We usually travel to The Royal in Playa del Carmen but decided to try another highly rated hotel this time. The friendliness and effort of the staff was not evident in this property. Often had to wait for service and there were very few staff members who made us feel welcome and wanted. Food was good but not great. We arrived early in the day so was not expecting a room right away but had to wa [... read more]it till 4:30pm! There were 6 of us incoming and they couldn't get 3 rooms ready?! The hotel was not full. As a compensation, we were upgraded to the 'Preferred Club'. We saw none of the benefits (I.e. Alcoholics and snacks in our room). We did gain entry to the second level pool area which was nice because the loungers were far better quality than the beach (most of them were cracked in the bottom) and service was better.

Secrets Huatulco: Close to 5 Star but not quite!

This was our second stay at Secrets and the service, food and location are top-notch. However, for the second time in two years the shortage of palapas , umbrellas and shade is a nightmare with guests booking space at 6am on a supposed relaxing holiday. Bottomline-we won't be back until they add shade via more palaces and umbrellas. The 30 minute reservation rule is unforced and impractical since it takes more than 30 minutes to go sailing, eat breakfast or whatever. We saw "reserved" spots vaca [... read more]nt the whole day by folk who had either left or changed their minds - the beach staff need to be more proactive in spotting this and bottomline - more shade. Having to rush down before sunrise to get a spot is not a holiday!

Secrets Huatulco: Highly recommended resort !

Beautiful resort, fabulous pools, service staff are second to none! One thing to keep in mind is the over use of salt in all the food you serve. I recommend your chief allow the guest to salt their own food to taste. A large part of your guest are over 40 and salt is a big concern. Our sunwing rep. gave us very little info regarding your wonderful facilities. Ex. the wonderful coffee bar (we found it by accident on our 3rd day) , or that you had an activities screen and that menus where availabl [... read more]e to view. (that little service was a very nice touch!!!) When you only have a week, this info is important. If possible a little more shade would be helpful around the activity centre and beach area.

Resort is beautiful. Beach is small but nice. Food and drinks are great. All the staff work really hard to keep you happy and to keep the resort in top notch condition. Secrets Huatulco: Great Place

The resort is a short drive from the modern airport. It is located on a private bay with relatively calm waters. The food was fantastic and the decor was tasteful. The staff couldn't have been any nicer.

The Good Grounds, food, staff, drinks The Bad Sand fleas (no see ums?), spotty wifi in rooms (great by pool) The Ugly Trying to get a table for 8 - were refused or had to wait up to 2 hours. For a place that advertises no reservations required this is misleading. When we travel as a group we expect to eat together - it's only 8 people come on man.

Secrets Huatulco: Great Resort

Thoroughly enjoyed the resort during our 2 week stay. Beach and serve were excellent. We have had slightly better food at Secrets in PV but otherwise was a great resort with very attentive staff and a great spa.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort n

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) clean well maintained friendly staff dining very good try all the a la carte restaurants, rooms are kept clean.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Still among the best.

We travel to 5-star resorts annually for the past 20 years. This is our second time at this resort in three years. Mostly everything is still top notch and we'll continue to rank it among the best resorts we've ever visited. Food quality has come down though. The buffet is not as tasty, and the Japanese restaurant has gone from bad to disgusting. Also, DO NOT under any circumstance be misled into agreeing to sit through a sales pitch for their travel club. They tell you it'll take 1.5 hours when [... read more] in fact it runs as long as 3 hours for most. Even if you have time to waste, it's not worth the romantic dinner or the spa voucher. The spa is incredible and definitely worth a visit to, so just pay for your own treatments and save yourself the obnoxious sale pitch. Finally, I would greatly urge everyone to book a swim-out room. The pool is heated, semi-private, and a great amenity to enjoy in the evenings!

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Amazing relaxing resort

The staff was very friendly, happy and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic experience and were able to relax and enjoy our vacation. The food and service was exceptional, we tried many new dishes and were very surprised at how great they tasted and were equally impressed in the helpfulness of the waiters serving them.

Secrets Huatulco: Great area - Great Resort

Stayed for a week just before Christmas. Still going through withdrawals!. If you want a relaxing vacation on a beautuful beach this is the place to go. We were able to go kayaking and sailing the hobie ctas every day as they had enough equipment for all the guests. We spent most days at the quiet side of the beach and never had a problem finding chairs and shade. Ocean could be a bit rough, but was fine if you timed the waves and were carefull. One side of the beach was well protected for a saf [... read more]er swim area. A quieter beach with protected swinn area a short walk. Resort is clean, in great repair, and is well managed. Had great food at all the resturants with the surf and turf at the Oceanna ecxeptionally good. Spent a terrific day on the ocean fishing/snorkling/site seeing with Pilo Vazquez - I will do a seperate revew for that outing.

Secrets St James: Minimal attention to detail and poor service

As regular visitors to Mexico, this was our first trip to Jamaica. Note that we’ve been to many 5 star resorts, including Paradisus and El Dorado Royale. For those that 1) are just happy to be down South, or 2) haven't been to too many 5 star all inclusives, then you will enjoy your experience at St. James. We, on the other hand, paid attention to the details and made comparisons to other hotels. Needless to say, we do not plan to visit Jamaica again after comparing the value we received to t [... read more]he amount we paid vs. other destinations/resorts. Service (2/5): This was our biggest let down, starting from check-in (at the preferred section) to the lack of ability of staff to deal with additional requests. If I had to estimate, 75% of staff members did not seem happy to be working or willing to go above and beyond. As an example, our sushi came to us old (the rice had hardened). A manager came to us to see how things were going, and we mentioned our concern with the food. The waiter or manager did not come back to our table for 30 minutes, and we were just left sitting there even though we were told that someone would return… We were just hoping to order another dish – but with no service, we ended up leaving. When we requested a change in sides for our romantic dinner on the beach, the concierge kept rolling her eyes. My husband is celiac, and one of the side dishes was described (online) to be dusted in flour. The staff acted as if we were spoiled for requesting a modification to the order. When going to our second tennis lesson, there was a different gentleman sitting at the courts. We weren’t sure if he was a guest waiting to meet someone to play, or if he was the instructor. Overall, it appeared that he wanted to sit for two hours without doing anything. We ended up asking him if he wanted to play - after which he introduced himself as the instructor. He was a very nice man, but he did not come prepared to the lesson to actually teach/do drills. Our list of examples of below average staff behaviour goes on throughout our two week stay. Training is needed by the resort so that the staff have proper responses to questions or concerns that may arise throughout their guest’s stay. Facility (5/5): Overall, the resort is visually appealing. The SPA’s water therapy session was fantastic. The grounds and pools were clean. Note that Wild Orchid is closer to all restaurants and nightly entertainment, while St. James is towards the SPA/tennis courts (approximately 5 minute walk to the main nightly entertainment area). Room (4/5): The room was standard for a five star, excluding the fact that the robes were ripped, scales were broken (we made 6 requests to have our scale replaced so we could weigh our luggage), and functionality issues with 3 irons/steamers. These examples are minor – but this resort definitely lacked attention to detail. For those staying with friends or family members – note that there is minimal privacy between the bedroom and bathroom area. Food (3/5): There is a lot of food to eat, but our experiences were either a hit or a miss. Food was likely to come out cool, and not always fresh, and our experiences were quite inconsistent. Returning food to be warmed up was just a waste of time - it would never come back hot. If you would like a good piece of steak, go to the French restaurant (Bordeaux). Bar (3/5): There was a lack of consistency in how the drinks were made at the bars. The plastic glasses were not washed properly (and visibly dirty - occasionally with brown film). Beach (4/5): For us, the beach was great. For those that want to walk for miles, note that this beach is restricted to the hotel grounds only. Entertainment (3/5): The nightly entertainment was good, but the daytime activities need a revamping! Activities like "napkin folding" and "tie dye" sessions do not attract many participants. Preferred Service Section (3/5): Note that all rooms face the ocean. We enjoyed our tub on the balcony, heated pool in our section, and breakfast area (for a quick, simple time saving meal). There is no benefit to the private check-in. Overall, I am unsure if it was financially worth upgrading. Crowd: This hotel has a mix of everyone - all ages can make new friends if they are willing to engage others. Overall – we had a nice holiday, but we were surprised by the lack of attention to details and quality of service and food. We will not be returning to St. James or another Secrets resort.

Secrets St James: Superb Resort

This resort has the best staff we've ever encountered and we've been travelling for 30 years to the Caribbean! Always pleasant, mannerly and sometimes outright funny, the staff is the best thing about this resort. Right from the check-in to the check-out we were greeted with a nice smile and a "no problem". The grounds are kept immaculate, the rooms and pools always clean, the restaurants always fully stocked with awesome food and drink. Premium beverages were served in all the bars. If we were  [... read more]to make any negative comment, it would be that the premium pool had very uncomfortable loungers (hard wood with thin mats) where the regular pools had very comfortable resin chairs with nice thick mats. We thought that odd. A few shout outs to Alvin, the best bartender ever, Jamie at the Himitsu, Rayon like the Crayon at the Portofino and the real deal cowboy waiter Oralando in the World Café. Top drawer service!! The only real drawback was the weather. It rained most days so our 10 day vacation wasn't as good as it could have been, but that certainly is not the resort's fault.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Awesome resort

Friendly and helpful staff, great food, beautiful resort and beachfront. We found it easy to get a table at any of the restaurants. No line ups! Room service arrived within 15 minutes. We are definitely planning to return.

Secrets Huatulco: amazing area

The area that we stayed in was wonderful cant wait to go back weather was perfect. Only complaint and not a real biggie was the wait staff had trouble taking our order not fully understanding what we asked for most often was the drink orders
