The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Amazing Resort

The attentiveness and positive attitude of the staff made our stay very enjoyable. The restaurants offered excellent variety and foods with great service. At the Royal Beach Club pool, we enjoyed relaxing with wonderful service. All requests were addressed as soon as possible with enthusiasm. Regarding the wheelchair accessible room, it could use grab bars in the shower and the walk in closet is not accessible by wheelchair at all. The walkways/ driveways are not conducive to smooth rolling of  [... read more]wheelchair casters. The office building for the Royal beach Club did not have ramped access and the doors are small and heavy to open from the wheelchair without assistance.

This resort was awesome - the staff were all very friendly, cheerful and courteous. Food was amazing and at every location I ate at. There was ample to do and the best part of all was that it was not yet crowded at the end of November- beginning of December.

JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort and Spa: Honeymoon dream come true!

Dreams la Mareas resort had everything to offer from AMAZING food to the biggest selection of pools ive ever seen. There was adult pools if you just wanted to relax in quiet or all ages pools where they offered a vast amount of activities. Every night, the resort offored live entertainment which was exceptional. I would definitly recommend this resort to couples and/or families. Theres something for everyone!

The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Excellent experience

Overall a very good resort. Beach not as nice as many resorts and pools were a little cool for old folks like me. The meals were amazing. Taste, selection, presentation, service, all exceptional and 5 Star IMO. Beautiful grounds and constant maintenance and enhancement going on. Exceedingly friendly staff at every contact point. Off site excursion program very well organized. It is far from some of the real features of Costa Rica though but wonderful for a high end vacation experience.

The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Great place for a reunion!

This was a 40th year reunion for a group veterinarians and included 40 people. All were accommodated in close proximity in an adult only area which was perfect. Because this was shoulder season the resort was never too busy or overcrowded. The staff were friendly and attentive and very helpful with just about everything. The golf course was in reasonable shape given there was a hurricane the week before. Green fees were discounted because of that which was a bonus. Excursions were availabl [... read more]e for zip lining, a river cruise, trips into Liberia and even to Nicaragua. A sunset Catamaran cruise with snorkeling and other water activities was great. Driving time to off site activities was at least 1 hour. The beach is near by and provided opportunities for snorkeling, bicycle and horse back riding. The food was exceptional in each and every restaurant. It was the perfect getaway for catching up.

Rather than repeat what everyone says about a great five star all inclusive as my title says it all, I'll make only a few observations. I went with a group of 38, one of whom was in a wheelchair. He travels frequently and said he'd never been to a hotel that was more sensitive and accommodating to his needs with the one small exception that the shower lacked grab bars. I've been to other hotels with a Royal Beach club equivalent and would recommend using that  [... read more]option if you appreciate a quieter pool, pleasant, non intrusive music playlist, and a very nice spot for breakfast and lunch nearby ie. the Faisanella. If you'd like a delicious burger and GREAT fries or a pizza, order ahead at the bar right at the pool and eat from your lounge chair. There is a bit of a wait as it comes from another kitchen so enjoy a Dirty Monkey in the meantime. Their Clubhouse could be improved upon with a dedicated private bar rather than someone disappearing into the back and improving the lighting and seating arrangement. You can get drinks there but the atmosphere is a bit lacking IMO, compared to other private clubhouses I've seen elsewhere. We'd take our drinks in the evening to the small patio outside which was candlelight and very pleasant. Our favourite evening bar was the Imperial bar where live music and the fire/ fountain made for a fun atmosphere. Our entire group thought it was a terrific resort and wonderful holiday.

The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Wonderful from beginning to end!

Everything met or exceeded expectations. We enjoyed the bus ride to the resort, learning about the socio-economic conditions in Costa Rica from our tour guide and actually arriving within one hour as were were told. Driving through the gates to the resort was like stepping into a new world. We had expected the grounds to be tossed after Hurricane Otto had passed to the north just the day before arrival. We were guests of the Royal Beach Club and enjoyed the concierge service, private guest pool, restaurant and service always with a smile and genuine concern for our enjoyment and comfort. The staff were terrific. I found it very personal when most staff made a point of knowing my name - making the stay very welcome. I was impressed. The staff went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable and always were willing to share the location of a large group of Howler Monkeys. On more than one occasion, the trolley drivers stopped beside as we were walking, to ask if we wanted to see the monkeys. We simply jumped aboard and enjoyed the monkey antics and when we were steady, they took us to our original destination. Service above and beyond. As part of a group of 38 persons celebrating a class reunion, the resort was accommodating to our requests to have two special group dinners during our stay. Not an easy task to manage this size group but they made it enjoyable. My wife and I relished every meal we had at the various restaurants. On several occasions we had reservations that needed adjustment as friends wanted to join our table or we were invited to join others. The staff were wonderful to simply say, " Yes, we can do that." My personal favourite was the lamb skewers at the Mediterranean Restaurant. Best lamb ever. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. In fact, every washroom on the property was presentable and clean, whether it was first thing in the morning or after late night cocktails and entertainment at The Imperial Bar! I was impressed with everything about our vacation. Pura Vida!

Hotel Villas Playa Samara: Samara Sunshine Sojourn

Iguanas everywhere, underfoot, fresh fruit heaped high... fish on the grill..drinks in-hand, BEST beach sand, between our toes, palm trees waving, Birds heard, birds seen, birds delight, Smiling ticos, Walking slow, Pura vida means breathing in, breathing out, we know that Samara is a perfect place, Happiness beneath blue skies.

Hotel Villas Playa Samara: Nice, nice, very nice...

The thing we liked most about the resort was it's connection to the outdoors. The lobby, bars and restaurant are essentially under a canopy and even the villas can be opened to the magnificent outdoors.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Very nice resort

We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was clean & well kept, the grounds were beautiful. Washrooms too far away from pool & beach area. The beach area should have a bar & a lunch area...a bit of a jaunt back to hotel We would choose Riu again.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Awesome Resort!!

The RIU Palace Costa Rica is a beautiful resort. The grounds are always being cleaned, the rooms were wonderful....loved the rain shower. The food was amazing and there was a great selection. Loved the Italian restaurant selections and the Grill restaurant with the Lobster and steak. There was always something to do and the entertainment staff were such hard workers always making sure everyone was having a good time (thank you Kathy - you were GREAT!!). We will definitely go back to this resort again, and next time stay longer than a week.

Coco Beach Hotel and Casino: Comfortable clean friendly

There was no grounds as the hotel is on the main St in Playa del Coco. Very busy St but parking was easy to find. The public areas in the hotel were comfortable . There was a nice area where we could sit on couches and chairs outside our rooms, The pool was right next to the dining room so not private enough for myself. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the sheets were too small for the beds and very uncomfortable.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing resort

No complains I give it a10 in all categories food was great rooms well kept waitresses friendly and courteous pools very clean grounds well kept.all in all a great place for a vacation. It's a real palace

The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Great Resort!

We recently returned from this resort for a stay between Nov. 6-12 and must say it's a great resort. Takes ~ 1.5 hours to get to the resort. Very large resort but doesn't take long to walk from the furthest bungalows to the pool, restaurants, etc. They also have little passenger transports to take people from place to place, either hop on one as they're heading by or a phone call to pick you up works too! All fairly good and a number of vegetarian options on all menus. Mediterranean and Japanese were our favorites. Portion sizes vary at restaurants so sometimes it's hard to say how much to order. The buffet was also good - usually lots of variety for lunch. Breakfast was standard and good each day. The pool is huge! Some days it was cleaner than others, a couple days it was quite dirty looking - should probably have a couple staff cleaning 1 - 2 times a day. They have a beach but very few lounge chairs out - not sure if it's a "resort property" beach or not as lots of locals and vendors are out there. Always had security at the entrance/exit to beach but locals are quite friendly. Pool service was hit and miss. Some days they'd have a person getting drink orders, other days nobody. Could definitely use another person or two. Could've used 1 more bar by the pool, sometimes it got a bit busy but never waited more than a couple minutes. Lobby bar closes fairly early but I suppose with only 1 restaurant to serve it doesn't make sense to keep it open after the restaurant closes. They do have a late night bar with live music and DJ's every night. Lots of indoor seating with TV's for sports, but could used more outdoor seating. It can get quite busy but is a nice way to wrap up your day. Overall I would recommend this resort. Would go back but likely not often as the "bang for the buck" is quite as good as Mexico or other destinations that may be closer to home.

The resort is very beautiful and the food is very good the room service 24hours and also very good . They had lots of really good entertainment . Cafe world had really good coffee freshly ground lattes and snacks . The only downfall is the beach dark and murky but the view is amazing. the room is was very nice no point in upgrading Oceanview because they all are and have hottubs on balcony every room . DON'T BOTHER GETTING THE 200 DOLLAR COUPON IT'S A RIP OFF. THE DUTY FREE AT [... read more] THE AIRPORT IS CHEAPER THEN THE RESORT GIFT SHOP. 2 BOTTLES 10 BUCKS. Jose maria Number 1 best bartender WE WOULD DEFINITELY BOOK THIS RESORT AGAIN.

Coco Beach Hotel and Casino: Good place to stay

The hotel is every bit a three star, so if people are fussy, this is not for them. It was perfect for us as we have travelled everywhere, and this was in the best location ever and Marvin at the front desk set you straight on all things you need to know. The bars and restaurants are within minutes walking distance as is the beach. Rent a golf cart for $250.00 a week total across the street, and you can run around all over town and visit Ocotal beach next cay over.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Honestly cannot say anything bad... Awesome awesome

In a nutshell, my wife and I were on our 14 day stay at the Palace, and as much as we wanted to do excursions , we had no sense of bordem or that an escape was needed. The food was Riu quality (awesome), and the service was exceptional, honestly. As any Riu, the grounds were perfection and the liqour was hard as a rock ;) its beaches were prestine with their cocoa powder sand, and spotless. Not our last time.

Riu Guanacaste: Very nice stay!

We visited the Rui Guanacaste on our honeymoon and loved the experience. The restaurant staff were very friendly and always prepared. They would come up to ask what you wanted within a minute or two of you entering the restaurant. The cleaning staff were very friendly, and having a minibar in our room was a nice touch. The beach is not amazing, but that is fairly expected in Costa Rica. The pool was awesome, but very busy during the afternoon and it's just one large pool. JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort and Spa: Quiet, Remote and Beautiful

Typical AM Resort,very similar to the Secrets brand however, it is a family resort but not that different. Good food, Good selection of quality liquor. Plenty of bars and restaurants to suit whatever cuisine you like. Disappointment with housekeeping on a continuous basis. Often having to call for amenities not left or towels shorted when housekeeping did show up. We had requested Housekeeping with a three hour window that rarely was ever met. Often coming back to a room not made up after  [... read more]giving more than adequate time for that to occur. Bellman did not show up for our bags although we gave him plenty of notice as a result of only having one cart for the whole resort because the others were in maintenance we were told causing us to take her bags basically to the checkout counter in the preferred lounge. The all inclusive AM Resorts has that down to perfection unfortunately the willing staff wasn't quite always up to the task. The remote location would be perfect for someone looking for a quiet getaway and I would recommend it for people with or for that matter without children since there are areas exclusively for both. Clean and modern and simplistic would be the best way for me to describe this cookie-cutter AM resort. I guess consistency would be the best way to describe it. What's wrong with meeting someone's expectations consistently
