Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Fantastic Resort

The people make this resort! Truly, some of the friendliest, wonderful people I've ever met! Shout out to Andy who went over and above! He is an incredible asset for Blue Bay! The beach was lovely, clean and warm ocean water. They have a smaller, quiet pool for people just wanting to relax and maybe read. The other 2 bigger pools are where the action is. Saying this, I can be a bit of a picky eater. I certainly ate but I found most food had way too much garlic. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows were great. Yes, maybe a bit dated but who cares? You're not in the room much! I would absolutely go back to this wonderful resort! Everything but the food was exceptional. We had an amazing time and look forward to seeing all our friends at Blue Bay again!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very nice

This is my 8th stay at this resort for reasons I share with many others including family!.. It's quaint..beautiful and perfect size for us..food is exceptional as are the staff and attention to detail.. But!!!...in high season I would change the idea of allowing as many locals because it's already far too busy..we also pay to be a VIP guest! I mean no disrespect to these wonderful people but the lineups are already too long and some of them are simply..rude!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Beautiful landscaping

The grounds were immaculately kept. Beach was good. Rooms were big with comfy beds and pillows. Pools was very accessible and clean. Food was typical DR. Lots but not a good variety of fruits or salad items. I would have liked more fish options. Note that there are no elevators and many paths are bumpy if you are handicapped. Entertainment was not good.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran Vantana Resort

Great resort to relax, eat and enjoy the sun. Many buffet options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The resort is small which results in less walking from any point in the resort to other areas. The Italian restaurant for a la carte was awesome just needs to have a little bigger portions. Have gone at least 6 times and would keep going back,

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Not a 5 star!

We have been to Senator previously and were disappointed this visit. The pool was very dirty and debris was constantly underfoot. Even poolside, many cups etc not picked up regularly. The food was justok, but service in dining room was hit and miss. You had to chase staff for spoons and coffee cups & coffee. The alacartes and the pizza in the boulevard were the saving grace. Our room was a bit musty smelling and took 2 days for air conditioning to feel effective.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Would go back

Older hotel but well maintained. The room was clean and people are nice. I would say one thing that I didn't like was their main lobby bar would open at 10 and if you wanted a cappuccino in the morning you would have to go in the buffet area. The waiters in the buffet were nice and trying to accommodate everyone but looked like they were shorthanded most of the time and adding to make the cappuccinos in the morning was a lot of unnecessary work. A lot of choices for everyone. The entertainment team worked hard as well. Very busy on the weekend with locals and even the quiet pool wasn't quiet but we're not pool people so most of the time we were on the beach. Overall we had a good experience.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: The Best Experience

The staff was amazing. I have extreme dietary restrictions and the chef and kitchen staff went out of their way to make sure I had nice meals. The rooms were clean and the entertainment staff were absolutely adorable! I hope I can come back to visit again. Thank you

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amazing Vacation

What a wonderful experience. The staff here is amazing. Shout out to Marie E at reception with her warm and friendly smile. Kan Kan, Wesley and Kimberly on the activities team are the best group of people you will meet. The wait staff were very attentive and accommodating to our special dietary needs. The rooms are comfortable, the a/c was cold and the showers hot. The grounds and the path to the beach are beautifully kept. The beach is incredible and my favorite place to be.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

Enjoyed our time at this resort. Beach was very long and was a lovely walk. Food was best we’ve had in the Dominican. Room was great. Ocean views on the left and pool views on the right. Didn’t expect to be able to see the ocean as we booked just the basic room. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Raul and Jackie (Bar) were awesome. Entertainment was not the best. Kareoke three nights out of the week. Would definitely recommend this resort.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Mother/Daughter Vacay

This resort was Amazing! Everything was clean and well maintained and compact. Staff were awesome! Big beautiful pool, with lots of loungers.You do not have to get up early to save a chair. Food was excellent. The Mexican and Japanese restaurants are a must try. Great beach with lots of loungers. My room was spacious and very clean and had everything you could need. Very modern. The Spa was lovely. Will definitely return. FYI:SMOKER FRIENDLY

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Senator Resort and Spa

Air Conditioning in room not working well to keep up with heat - 39 degrees humidity and rooms are hot. Buffet area needs perfectly working AC in this kind of heat. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Lovely Resort

Very enjoyable stay. Good food. Lots of lounge chairs. Very friendly staff. My only complaint was that on the last day check out was at noon and the flight home was not until 10:00 pm. I will not book a package with that departure time ever again.

Playabachata Hotel: Terrible

Big roaches in my room Ac broken for 2 nights 32 degrees and climbing during the day Ac only get too about 20 degrees even though your thermostat says way colder. Pretty sure I got heat exhaustion I threw up for 3 days straight and the best the hotel had to offer me was a fan from the front desk to blow on my face. Upgrades to the senator was 80USD a night. I witnessed a bird eating cake on the cold tables while nobody was watching and had a gentleman almost eat the same piece of cake the bird was eating before I stopped him. The al la carts had no ac and were only opened when the local people arrived for the weekend. Monday- Friday al la carts dinners were served in the Buffett part served as al la cart with a menu . WHILE HAVING MOSQUITOES BITE YOU EVERY “restaurant” YOU WENT TOO Clothes were stolen off balcony senator had vegetarian protein options but didn’t make it to playa bachata. Senator hotel customers came to our buffets to eat all our food and drink our alcohol and some nights we wouldn’t have tequila or some types of rum because they’ve come over and drank most of it and went back to senator. Images online show Pools are closed that are closed from Monday to Saturday it’s only until the locals come in for their own “vacation” do they open up 2/3 pools and open THEY CLOSE THE POOL AT 6PM!? False advertisement all the way through and through for this trip. DO NOT COME HERE! IT IS NOT WORTH IT! YOU WILL GET HEAT EXHAUSTION JUST EATING LUNCH. If you have asthma DO NOT COME HERE. There is no cool place to breathe air other than in your room if it even works. YOURE BETTER OFF SPENDING YOUR MONEY TO GO TO SENATOR. DONT BOOK HERE

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice staff , but this hotel is no more than a 3.5 stars

This hotel is located in a close little complex called playa Dorada . It felt secure , food was great and the staff was friendly. We gave a total tip of around 500 pesos (without maid service) every day. Our in room safe never worked .On our first day we waited for a maintenance guy for about an hour than left. He came while we were gone . We told the desk the next day, they said they will send him again. We waited for 3 hours , he never came.We thought it was absurd so we let the idea of having [... read more] a safe go. I am 8 month pregnant. They put us in the last room, on the last floor . (Third one , no elevator) I saw an older woman with walking sticks who was also put on the last floor. This was careless from the desk staff. I bought a good deal and got a very basic room. Wich I am usually very ok with . This time ,I have never seen such basic room in an all-inclusive.No balcony (very hard to dry swimsuits), no control on AC ( there is a box with a handle , it just doesn't work and the rooms seemed to bet set at 20 degrees. Way too cold for me as it was 40 outside) , no sitting other than on the bed.The way the hotel is made , the beach is a good 400m from the rooms so get ready to walk to relax . On some days it wasn't clean , on others, it was beautiful. There is really only one "real" pool and 2 Little bassins (2-3 feet deep max). On our last day , the pool needed treatment and the beach was flagged red so there was no way to swim . I thought it was a good timing for us to leave as no one knew how long this situation was going to be. So overall , no thanks , I would not go back to this hotel .

Very good resort to pass vacation. We were satisfied by everything: daily cleaning service and towel change,always fresh food variety in the buffet and a la carte restaurants, animation events, clean beach in 3 minutes walk. Special thanks to Juan Carlos, Wendy, Henry and Bryan and all the animation team who made our stay fun and enjoyable.

We were very happy with our choice!! Staff was excellent!! Food was wonderful plenty of choices. Cleanliness of room and grounds were great !! Not any complaints to speak of !! We never even used all of the a la cart restaurants this time around but Herman’s was fabulous!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Bad

We booked all inclusive for my spouse and I for our honeymoon. To start, the hotel is about 30ish mins from the airport. Trip Central supposedly let the hotel know that it was for our Honeymoon however of course the front desk staff didn’t know about that and when we told them upon check-in nothing was offered except “oh, we didn’t know” We booked the Junior Suite with 1 king bed and the room itself was nice from afar but that was it. No hot water, the bed was harder than a rock (I n [... read more]ow need to go to a chiropractor) and much more. We were in building 41 and they were doing a huge construction project on a pool right outside of our room with jackhammers going all day long Monday-Sunday 8 am to 7pm, that was extremely unpleasant, loud, and dusty, we went to the front desk to ask to change rooms however they responded with “we have none available” lmfao. All of the pools at the Cofresi side were in very bad shape as in paint chipping everywhere, garbage in the pools, the waterfalls weren’t on etc. also, they close their pools at 6 PM and there is no swim-up bars operating probably because they’re leaking water. This hotel is in very rough shape. The housekeepers didn’t speak a speck of English so trying to talk to them was impossible. Our phone didn’t work in our room so we had to walk up 16 flights of stairs and about 15 min walk to get the front desk for Them not to do anything. The buffets were good however (The Pearl) There is 96% of Dominican locals that stayed here when we were there and they were what almost seemed like put off because we were Canadian which gave us a very uncomfortable vibe the whole time. The beach: Nice, good swimming conditions, next to no seaweed (we’re there in august) but that’s we’re the good ends. Between the Spa Salesman, Giftshop people, Cigar shop people and timeshare salesman’s made our experience crappy as we were harassed everyday to buy something (we got really good at saying no lol) The timeshare salesman wasted half of our last day for us to continue to say NO every time! My husband said the men’s bathroom in the buffet (the Pearl) has a leaking urinal when he went in and there was a blue POOL TOWEL underneath it to catch the leak like EW! and they give you those blue pool towels to use 🤢 All staff expected tips even for poor service. As per front desk: you only get your mini fridge stocked day of arrival ONLY. I walked up to front desk one morning because we had no water in our room and our phone never worked to call them. Front desk tells me “we don’t have bottled water and you have to wait for the buffet to open to get a GLASS of water” like what? I guess I’ll just dehydrate all day to wait for the buffet or bar to open. What a joke! We had to go off resort to buy more bottled water. (The hotel water is potable, obviously) They say “All Inclusive” but you have to pay for: Wifi, Safe Lock, Xtreme Zone, most activities etc. This was one of the worst resorts we’ve ever been to. We will never be back and we are making a complaint to Trip Central. By far the least all-inclusive resort.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Excelent resort

The resort is quite nice, the grounds and the tropical vegetation is awesome. The beach was very pretty and have nice surrounding trees and palm trees. There was no seaweed. The service was good, the amenities were good, particularly the sports bar and the the gym. The buffet and a la carte restaurants were pretty good. Animation team and recreation activities including the evening shows were fun. Have a great time
