Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Small and cozy

Everything in general is great the only thing I deplore they close everything at 11 o'clock at night. The only thing left is the disco tech and it's smaller than my bathroom you should leave at least one place outside with candles a bar near the beach till at least 1 o'clock in the morning.

Cayo Levantado Resort: perfect trip!

Our trip to this resort was perfect in all respects. Wonderful resort located on a little piece of heaven. Highly recommend. The food is excellent. Service warm and friendly. Beaches are gorgeous and pools warm and clean. We will return to this location again. The fact that it is an island only adds to the beauty of this resort.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Beautiful beach!

This resort is a 2 hour bus ride from the airport. We had no problems with the food and my teenage son loved the selection. The resort is kept clean but very basic. There is NO wifi at all. Was not working when we were there. A major complaint with our teenagers. Horseback riding is nearby and would definitely recommend. We were 4 people in a room and the whole week we did not get 4 towels. Either there were not enough or they did not bother checking (even though we tipped the maids daily). Ther [... read more]e is a small town within walking distance. Not much to see but it was nice to see the supermarkets and local life. The beach is beautiful, shallow and sandy. Not much to see when snorkelling though. Lots of palm trees for shade. Would recommend for relaxation and a quiet getaway!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Loved it here!

We loved our vacation here. It was the overall experience that made me give it 5 stars. In spite of reviews of the not the best beach, which is true, I still have to say the overall experience is 5 stars. The room we had was huge and had a view of the water. The beach does get muddy from the current kicking up sand, that's the only negative, but the great food and atmosphere of the entire resort itself made up for it in my opinion. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Good, family fun!

-Grounds were very clean -Food was great -Service was good (although not a huge emphasis on English -- it would be an asset if you were able to speak Spanish) -Room was spacious -Beach was gorgeous -Pools were beautiful, although no swim up bar -I would recommend this resort to families with children, as there were a lot of kids when we were there. Wish we'd have known this ahead of time! -the city, Las Terrenas, had a lot of nice restaurants if you'd like to go into town for a date night

Wyndham Alltra Samana: the GOOD and the BAD

GOOD - food was delicious! everyday they had a different theme night and food was sooo tasty. It's nothing like Cuba! - shades in the beach. there are a lot of shaded area on the beach so no need to wake up early and get a beach chair because there are plenty and many areas with lots of shade - Archery, sports bar had foozball table, billiards etc. - Kids club BAD - ran out running water for 6 hours! Couldnt shower, wash your face or brush your teeth! It was terrible - no electricity! for 3 nig [... read more]hts out of 7. This means no light, no A/C no electricy at all all night. I was sooo angry and complained so much because the whole resort would shut down. I had a baby iwth me and we were sweating like crazy the whole night. It was so upsetting that this hotel could not even maintain electricity! One of the most basic things. We had a great vacation but this ruined it for us. - sand on the beach. There is very little sand area on the beach, unlike Cuba or Bahamas where there are a lot of sand. Mostly grass - terrible sutomer service at the front desk. When power was down I complained several times. they didnt even provide candles or try to fix the situation. All I got was blank stare from the reception workers

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: A Vacation to remember!!!

If you have any reservations about going to Gran Bahia Principe, throw them away we have been to D.R previously but this hotel has met all of our expectations. Beach is perfect, food is great and tons of things for children to do

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Still the best view in DR

This is our second time in Bahia Principe Cayacoa. We decided to visit this place again because of the amazing scenery. It's scenery will alway be etched in our memory and will make us to visit again in later years. As was in the winter of 2013, all services were excellent. Resort ground, staff, food, room service were all very good in this August. Though there were minor glitches, you see them in all other resorts and we have no complaint. But there may be something they can improve. We always  [... read more]visited Caribbean destinations during winter times for past 9 years and this was the first time in summer. As expected the weather was hot outside in the open to the point we were sweating under shades during day times. We were trying to cool off in the main pool, but the water was very warm that it did not refresh us. It seemed the pool water was not changed in timely manner. Due to small body of water, the whirlpools were even warmer that we thought they were hot in the afternoon. If the pool water was kept cool, guests during summer time would feel quite refreshed from the hot climate. We avoided the pool after the first try and stayed at the beach where water was cooler than the pool. Another reason we chose Cayacoa is that there was no sea weed at the beach. Over all our vacation was excellent in the resort and we decided to visit Cayacoa in the future. Thanks to all the staff who were always eager to serve us.

I was happy to spent a week with my husband! Nice people, Nice room, great food! I would recommence this hotel. The beach is calm and beautiful There is a lot of stairs and the service for the shuttle is not convenient...

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Just ok

Lots of palms trews" not to bad place to relax in general with your family. This place is good for family people not for singles or very young crowds. Food was oky , hotel staff was not so friendly in general I would say is not my destination and will never revisit again. Quite nights club closes at 2pm snack at is open from 12-2pm usually

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful resort!

The grounds were kept immaculately clean. The service was extremely friendly. The food was super, great variety and choices. Hotel staff was very flexible and accommodating when requested room change. Rooms were spacious and super clean.

clean good food friendly people nice resort for a family or singles or even a couple to visit like the other bahia princepe resorts however a little bit older hard working personel always attentive doctor on site and pharmacy near by over all a great experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Lovely Resort--however food is not very good.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The only draw back was the fact that the food was not very good. Most of the food served at the buffet was cold, especially the food at the buffet restaurant at the swimming pool. If the quality of the food improved I would return to the resort. This is the second Bahia Principe resort I have stay in and to be honest I will not stay in this chain again. The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: EXCELLENT RESORT.

We have been to the Dominican many times, and this by far is the best. We had a few minor issues..a few times our room key needed to be reprogrammed...we stayed in one of the villas and if our card didn't work there was no phone on the outside to call the front desk, so my husband would have to walk back to the hotel to get our room card reprogrammed. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Amazing Resort!!

We chose this resort because there was snorkeling right in front of the resort. It was amazing!! We advised the hotel my husband has limited mobility as he cannot stand or walk for more than 5 minutes and they gave us a suite very close to the lobby. It was perfect. Everything at the resort was super clean...service was amazing. Food was great! Loved every minute...we will be back. Thank you!!

Cayo Levantado Resort: relaxing and great

great hotel. very clean. excellent service, staff went out of their way to improve your stay. great beaches and activities. lots of snorkeling from the main and public beaches. food was excellent and beautifully presented.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: amazing vacation from start to finish

We arrived with plenty of day left to start our vacation! Had an amazing time taking advantage of all the exciting things to do; our favourite being snorkeling. Flight home was midday so no rush. Left us time to relax and enjoy our favourite spots one last time. Would recommend this trip to anyone desiring a relaxing getaway with beautiful scenery, gorgeous oceanviews, and fantastic food!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Family friendly resort

Eight of us visited the resort in June 2015. Food was excellent. The buffet was as good as the a la carte options. The rooms were large and we'll arranged. The beach had sections of coral so snorkeling was super. The pools were good. The spa service was bliss. I would return.

very well kept resort friendly staff. The food from the buffet to the restaurants was very well prepared , good variety ,and very fresh.The beach was amazing miles of sand with shallow calm water good for families, but also provides good snorkeling as the reefs are close to shore. Only issue is with A/C in buffet should be kept cooler, a little uncomfortable for lunch Hr. Dinner however is better. The restaurants are very comfortable. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Enjoyed our stay - would go back again

We stayed at the El Portillo in early March. This was the second time that we stayed there, and we would go back again. The hotel itself is very family oriented. Clean rooms. If there is a problem, the staff is more than happy to try to accommodate your needs. The grounds are immaculate. The beach was long so that you could walk for quite a ways. If you enjoy snorkelling, this is a great beach for that as there are lots of fish just steps away from your lounge chair! There are vendors that come  [... read more]on the beach, but if you tell them "No thank you", they will leave you alone. The staff couldn't do enough for you. We enjoyed our time with David "Spaghetty" from the entertainment team. He was awesome! Eucliddes from the beach bar was a lot of fun as well......."Excellente!" There were so many staff members that made our stay memorable from the beach entertainment to the restaurants to the bar area to the nightly entertainment. All is all, we had an excellent experience and we look forward to going back again next year!
