Hotel Villas Playa Samara: Gorgeous views!

Beautiful resort! Landscaping is lovely and the resort is situated on a lovely huge beach. The staff were very helpful, the decor in our room was lovely. we had the most wonderful view of the ocean and sunset every night! Considering there were only 2 restaurants, there was a good variety of tasty food every day. Being an animal lover, I loved having beach dogs and kitties around to spoil since I missed my own from home. However, it would be nice if they had a different bartender in the main bar. He totally cleans his station every time he makes a drink, BEFORE he gives you your drink! Also, the resort needs some TLC such as more chairs by the beach and replace the broken ones! Pads for the chairs would be nice as well. Replace burned out lights, especially on the walkways and by the pool. And no TV or telephones in any of the rooms that I saw. While this may not bother many folks, I did feel a bit out of touch with the world and had to walk to the reception for any issues encountered.

Riu Guanacaste: Loved it!

Excellent resort! Beautiful, clean, well-maintained. Food was delicious and varied. Enough seats that without reservations you could still normally get into one of the ala carte restaurants without too long of a wait, at least for two people. Pool was great, loved the swim up bar. And while they had music playing it wasn't the blaring loud beat music that we have experienced at other resorts. Entertainment at the pool and in the evenings was very good. Service everywhere in the resort was excellent, the people friendly and courteous. Free wifi in the lobby only for 90 minutes per day, but that is ok! Who wants to be online all the time with all the fun and beauty surrounding them? The wifi had a great signal strength and it was easy to upload lots of photos to Facebook etc when we did want to be online. Beautiful country, beautiful people, would go again in a heartbeat!

Fiesta Resort: Great holiday

Just came back from doubletree resort in Costa Rica. Great holiday. The resort was clean, staff were very attentive. Food was great at the buffets as well as the a la carte, Went on a tour arranged thru the resort amazing . service. Would go back in a minute!!!

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Beautiful Location!!

This resort was amazing! Food was great in all the a la carte restaurants and the buffet was decent as well. Drink service was a bit slow but other than that I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Costa Rica!

Riu Guanacaste: Great visit

Just came back from the Riu Guanacaste for a one week holiday. They were very accommodating for us. We first had an ocean view room on the second floor over the lobby with two single beds pushed together and I ordered one bed. When I brought this to their attention they gave us another room on the 5th floor at the end with the most beautiful view. They also accommodated me to make a very special valentines day dinner for my girlfriend and I. The diving was just okey, visibility wasn't the greate [... read more]st. You have to go down the beach to the monkey bar and try the food at night, feed the monkeys in the morning , we really enjoyed it. Overall it was a very nice vacation.

Occidental Papagayo: Fantastic!!

We had an amazing time! The resort staff were terrific and always willing to help. The beach was secluded and uncrowded. The room was clean and very comfortable. While the soundproofing was poor between rooms, it didn't pose a problem as we were only in our room to sleep. There was a lovely lounge where you could play board games or chess. There was musical entertainment in the lobby each evening and plenty of activities during the day, such as yoga, archery and aquasizes, to name a few. We did  [... read more]a few tours. I would highly recommend the catamaran snorkel and sunset tour. We caught the bus to the local town, Coco Beach, to do some shopping, as the resort gift shop was very pricey. All in all, it was a wonderful trip.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Beautiful resort!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. We are never disappointed when we visit these resorts because the accommodations, food, entertainment and facilities are superb and we always come away relaxed and good value for the money. Whenever we travel we always look for a Riu resort. Costa Rica of course is a beautiful country and you can pretty much depend on the weather at this time of year. We are already planning our next vacation!!! Thank you

Hotel Villas Playa Samara: Beautiful, relaxing resort

Hotel Villas Playa Samara was perfect. The beach was large and mainly unoccupied, with no vendors; the swimming and snorkelling was safe and the food was super delicious!! The chef prepared a beautifully cooked black sea bass for the buffet one evening and it was the best fish I'd ever tasted. There was always lots of healthy food (great salads, mains and desserts), the staff was terrific and the grounds were clean, green and well maintained. We requested a renovated garden villa well in advance [... read more] and also requested it when we arrived. Despite this we ended up in an older style garden villa but it was fine and the air conditioner worked well. Overall the value of this resort is really good so no worries about which villa to stay in. Lots of birds to see and Isla Chora is a short 10 minute kayak away. My only criticism is that the bikes, SUPs and kayaks that were showing included on the Air Canada site are no longer available. Instead of doing the kayak tour I rented a kayak for the price of $10 an hour from Carmen and was able to kayak and snorkel at Isla Chora three mornings during our stay. The kayak/snorkel can be done in an hour. If you have snorkel gear bring it and you may see lots of fish and perhaps a turtle or two. Andre at the front desk was great and Julian our waiter was lovely. I would definitely return to this resort.

Secrets Papagayo Resort: Terrific Resort, Awful insects!

The staff were wonderful, consistently gracious, friendly and helpful. The food was uniformly good - lots of variety, exceptional cleanliness and meticulous preparation. We had minor problems with extremely spicy food at Himitsu. Another 1 or 2 restaurants on the property would benefit longer-term visitors. The shuttle service was also surprisingly efficient, and the drivers cheerful. Our bigger complaint was the biting insects, inside and out, everywhere! We all got hundreds of bites, w [... read more]hich itched and stung and lasted for days. Worse, there was no warning from Secrets so we could have come prepared with antihistamine creams or tablets. This, combined with the jellyfish infestation in the bay, left us some days wanting neither to sunbath or swim in the sea! Rather awkward for a tropical holiday!

Riu Guanacaste: All Staff very friendly

The grounds at this hotel were beautiful and very well kept and clean. The food was good and plentiful. Although it is a very large hotel, there was plenty of room near the pools. I would not return simply because the area was too big for me and I cannot walk well because of bad knees.

Riu Guanacaste: Great resort!

Great weather, good food nice resort :) can't really complain about anything at the Rui. Huge pool, good beach (need water shoes) not white sand but really, does that matter? Service was good not amazing but nothing to really complain about again.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Fantastic

We loved everything , the food was great the Japanese restaurant was my favorite The room was amazing over looking the pool. The people were helpful and very attentive I'm a beautiful area ? Loved the playful monkeys If you have the chance do the mega tour it was awsome

The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Westin Conchal

Lovely hotel, lovely grounds. Great pool staff. This is NOT an all inclusive. For once would like to go to an all inclusive where you didn't have to continuously reach into your pocket!!!!! Food was ok, but the staff need to be educated on how to serve one course at a time and not altogether!

The Westin Reserva Conchal Golf Resort & Spa: Paradise

We stayed at the Royal Beach club, which is the adult section of this great resort. The rooms are very large, and well appointed. The grounds are beautiful. The staff are amazing. Well trained, polite, and cannot do enough for you. The only negative, is that the food could be better. There is plenty of selection, but they need new chefs. Also, the servers need to be better trained. They tend to bring all the courses at the same time.

Hotel should give free breakfast, yes the breakfast they give is a half a banana and couple slices of watermelon 1 slice of bread cut in two piece, tiny butter and jam. it is like a joke. you have to pay $2 extra get some egg, or cheese is should be open buffet breakfast Costa Rica is so expensive, unbelievable, I can say 2 times expensive than Toronto. food, beer, travel everything is so expensive. Hotel service is good, they speak good English, Staff are very helpful. rooms are not good,  [... read more]no balcony. They might have bed bug! They said it is mosquito, but I suspect bed bug. Hotel Villas Playa Samara: WONDERFUL RESORT

I'm glad I only listened to the good reviews. We stayed for two weeks and the resort was so wonderful with the lush grounds, great beach to walk, good food, good drinks, beautiful room in the luxury suites. The whole staff was wonderful, especially Arianna at the breakfast and lunch bar. She always had a big, wonderful smile to greet us with. The cultural entertainment in the evening was great at the dinner hour. The pool with pool bar was good also, but we are definitely beach people. Fro [... read more]m the beach you can walk 5-10 minutes and see the howler monkeys and then twenty minutes the other way is the beach town of Samara. On the beach is where all the action was with wild horses up and down the beach all day and all the iguanas on the property. I would definitely return to this more intimate resort.

Tamarindo Diria: Nice resort

Fantastic location with beach access. Breakfast was good but not enough variety for the week. Rooms were clean but dated and wifi was not accessible in our room. Staff is excellent very kind ready to serve you. More shade is needed around the pool areas. We were charged a premium for the adult only section that is now available to everyone in the resort. The weather is aways hot hot hot !

CC Beach Front Papagayo: Outstanding

The hotel is small and quaint. There are only 50 rooms and by the end of the first day you knew all the guests by their first name. The rooms are beautiful with great air conditioning. The food was the best of any all inclusive I have ever been to. The booze was top quality and the bar tenders were top notch especially Henri at the sports bar, a great asset to the hotel. Also Alexander at the swim up is good. Junior from Tico tours over by the iron gates was a great help in arranging tours.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Exceptional

We went with a group of 14, mostly couples. The resort was beautiful, the food super and the weather perfect. The rooms were great but the curtain between the bathroom and bedroom was very odd and should be changed. I give the resort a 9/10 I would highly recommend

Riu Guanacaste: Had a wonderful stay

Great food, staff was really good had a little issue with my safe and it was resolve within 5 minutes. Room was clean and sheet smelt so fresh. Older resort but very nice. Would definitely go back the weather is unbelievable.
