Palma Real: excellent resort

Grounds were very kept. Food was fantastic. But limited. To eggs in the morning. I have taken my family to Cuba 12 times. And always craved Wendys when returning to Toronto. But for some reason. This time my self and the group of 8 were satisfied.on the drive home.All and everyone working at this resort.Are super kind and do there best to please with a smile.Not an inconvenience. There is a pile to do in Varadero. unlike santa lucia cayo coco santa clara santa maria. Not being stuck at a resort playing 50 games of cards. Personal preferences. Great food at Fondue bar on calie which i believe is call 63 but expensive. Barba Coa right at the beach entrance is excellent . Travel down to call 49 at noon live bands. to call 63 all day fun. thanks Troy

Playa Caleta: CHEAP VACATION BUT STILL VERY NICE

WE ONLY PAID 685.00 PER ADULT. WAS ONLY A 3 STAR AND I HAVE STAYED AT ITS SISTER RESORT BELLVUE PALMA REAL, THIS WAS COMPARABLE, THE grounds here were nicer, the swim up bar at the other resort and pool was closed. would have been better if elevators were better, and if they had more bars. but weather was Hot and the pool was nice, ocean s beautiful, but drops off quick. food is cuba you can always find something. you wont gain weight here. LOL if you get a updated room not bad, the resort is ha [... read more]ving some leaking issues, but as I said I paid under 700.00 for a week, so I can deal with that. people that work there aren't as friendly as other resorts and people bug for stuff, but just tell them no. have to take a taxi to town or a long walk.

Grand Memories Varadero: Not the worst resort, but not a 4.5 star

The resort is very clean and is kept very well. The food was 2.5 star quality but no one got sick so it wasn't terrible. There are NO towels at the resort so the maids often took your dirty ones and left you with none.

Palma Real: Will Never Return

This was my 3rd stay at this resort so I know and am not expecting a 5 * resort and I like to have a good time while on vacation. The customer service and building/room maintenance has declined dramatically since my last stay. Good: Location; Entertainment; Restaurant Staff & Chefs and Cleaning staff; Food Choices Bad: Long line-ups at lobby bar; Many rooms/Buildings in disrepair - mould/dampness and smells, holes in ceilings, no lighting in halls and hallways with pools of water, no more entert [... read more]ainment in the lobby before dinner BUT good entertainment at pool & evening shows. Terrible: Front Desk check-in and customer service was the worst. My experience checking into our room after a day of flying was so bad that I will NEVER stay at this resort again. Reception staff were less than honest and helpful.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Would go again.

Good value for the money. Did not want for anything, although they did not have orange juice or coffee one morning at the raquet club where we preferred to eat breakfast. Service was very slow at the Raquet Club but the staff was very friendly.

Hotel Bella Costa: Best of the the "older/dated" resorts.

Everything was fine, friendly staff. Would have preferred better food options rather then sandwiches for the "late hours". Certain drinks were completely different when made by different bartenders, They need to be more consistent with the drinks. The entertainment staff was good, but could have definitely used more entertainers.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: OK resort for a short stay

Good territory, big and also green. Good beach and sea. Water sports available. Good and diverse enough food. A bit too far from Varadero town so almost the last hotel when return from excursions. Key issue is with services. There were towels in the room and to get them was a big issue. They were never changed in all 7 days as well as bed linings. Beach towels were also very difficult to get and to exchange for clean. Advise to bring yours. Rooms are reasonable although a bit old.

Memories Jibacoa: I'll be back!

This was my first trip to Cuba, and we chose wisely when we chose Memories Jibacoa. The staff was fantastic, our room was kept spotless, and we had great beds. Food at the a la carte restaurants was amazing. The "Animation" team was outgoing and fun. Everyone was very helpful, even to questions about what plants and animals on the grounds were (I'm a nature nerd). I would definitely go back, and would definitely recommend this resort.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort,

We found the pool area a little different than most places that we have been to but other than that a wonderful place. Some nice ala carte restaurants and a beautiful lobby bar with bird cage type lounge chairs. Wonderful place to lounge around.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good resort...for the right price

March break prices are always high, but when you book a 5 star then the amenities and service should be no less than perfect, especially for the amount paid during peak times. No beach towels provided in our room (called reception daily!) and therefore couldn't get one at the pool as its exchange only. Food was good, especially at a la carte restaurants, while there should be more locations/options for buffet rather than the one lobby location where there was a line up each night. Being on the [... read more] Marina and having the restaurants, bars, markets and shopping is a unique experience and makes the resort feel upscale. Pool and beach restaurants were good as well. Staff was helpful and courteous throughout the resort, while nobody is in any sort of hurry to serve. Again, based on a 5 star rating and price paid and age of hotel, I expected rooms, common areas and pool area to be cleaner. I wouldn't describe it as a kid friendly resort (limited activities etc), but the kids club staff were excellent and there were a few good days of activities for them. Had a great time as the weather was excellent, beach was beautiful and drinks cold... just as we had hoped for, so no complaints but wouldn't rush back either especially at March break prices.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Amazing resort

Clean rooms and well maintained hotel. Very nice pool and a wonderful restaurant at the beach. Excellent Cuban cuisine. Nice entertainers and a friendly environment. I would go back for sure. Amazing time.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Awesome trip! March 2016

Not many negative things to say at all, one thing caught me off is there's no mini fridges and no free water while at other resorts they get a fully stocked mini fridge with beer water pop etc. No swim up pool bar either. other then that everything is amazing, the staff are probably some of the friendliest people I've ever met. The grounds are cleaned regularly as is the pool and beach. The cars were never to busy so you're cup was never empty for long if at all. I plan on going back to Playa de oro and recommending this place to everyone.

Sol Varadero Beach: Dissapointing resort

Unfortunately, this hotel was not what I expected it to be. The reception desk once again greeted us without a smile. as if I was disturbing them. Our room was more than adequate as far as a bed goes. Water pressure was good, but toilet would flush for minutes. Service was lousy, no one ever smiled. Towels were a commodity, they kept running out, and at one time my wife had to go ask the maids for 2 bath towels and they gave us used ones. Disgusting to say the least. Animators were absent. Shows were pretty boring. I will not recommend this hotel to any one I know.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great beach, Good resort and Food gets better

Took us about an hour from the airport because of pick ups and drop offs at other resorts, which is still reasonable. Good: The beach that is a 5 minute walk is awesome. We spent everyday there. If you don't want to walk, they do take you on the golf cart from the pool area to the beach. The buffet has some misses but a good amount of hits to keep you fed during all meals. The best of the buffet would be the freshly grilled food they have which includes Lobster, Shrimps, Fish, Calamari and oth [... read more]er options. The line can be a bit long at times but it's worth it. To get the best food for you taste, try out a small portion before fulling your plate. The lobby area is a nice place to hang out, it's also where the bar is. It's designed to let in air flow from the marina and is nice to sit and enjoy some drinks at night. The gym is sufficient, the marina in the back is a beauty to see and walk about. The resort is large enough for evening strolls. We liked the "Casa Burguete" a la carte, the food was delicious. Bad: The snack bar near the pool is awful. The sandwiches they offer were just gross. The fries were ok but not good enough to make us visit twice. Also, do not eat the ketchup, it does not taste anything like ketchup. The beds are a bit hard and you can wake up feeling a bit sore. The pool is ok but I spent all my time at the beach because it's gorgeous. If you like swimming in the pool, you might not like that they shut it down quite early in the evening, around 8pm. The bank in the hotel was not helpful in giving 1s which we wanted to help with tipping because not everyone deserves 3s or 5s. "Don Ernesto" and "Bana" a la cartes were gross and we ended up going to the buffet after. Overall The hotel is a good place to stay as the food is not as bad as you hear about in Cuba. The accommodations are pretty with some hick ups and having the beach 5 minutes away is a big bonus if you're going to Cuba for the beach. If you want perfection, this would not suit your needs.

Roc Barlovento: Great hotel

The staff very helpful. The food was great very secure resort.Beautiful beach. Great location near Varadero . You can walk to flea market and dine at good restaurant near the resort. Adult only made a big difference met some great people

Hotel Bella Costa: Bella Costa

First time in this hotel. Fourth time in VAradero. Came on March 6, 2016. Our room was garden view # 751, closed to the beach in two stories buildings. Hotel has the main building in the shape as three beam star.The resort has been built in 1993 and needed renovation. Cleaning service is average. Need to ask to refill water bottle in the room. The water part of the beach is great with nice white sand. Location of the hotel is perfect for golfers. Right across of the hotel is a nice golf course well maintained. This year was unusual low temperature 26-28C, perfect to get smooth tan and enjoy by walking along of the beach or explore Varadero town. I would rate this resort as 3(three) star hotel and it worths not more than $850 CAN.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: disapointed

It was our third time to this hotel. It was getting better previously but this time not at all. First; quality of food decreased. There was a snack bar by the pool which was really appreciated in the past but they close it. We changed our beach towel once in 7 days. Beach long chair are so old that their falling apart and really uncomfortable. I must say that the room was again very comfortable and tidy.

Playa Caleta: Great Vacation

Our room was freshly renovated with a great view of the ocean. The food was better than anywhere else I have stayed in Cuba. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It was close enough to town and yet far enough away from the hurried life. I cant wait to go again!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great Resort

It suited all of our need. Food was good s the service staff were excellent! Beautiful pool too. Rooms were clean and comfy. Also a short walk to the fun night life. The beach is super clean and the sand is white.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: very nice

the hotel in general was very nice,beach excellente,rooms could need a little touchup,restaurant a la carte good, buffet could be better, staff good.night intertainement was excellent they work very hard and very professional in general i would recommend this resort.
