Occidental Caribe: Defineltly a four star !!!

The hotel itself was in pristine condition. Not even a blade of grass out of place. The main buffet was not good, always cold. The ala carts were good. The maid service was ok, but had to call for towels and face cloths a couple of times. They don't like to keep the bar fridge stocked up with beer, had to call for it also. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our Transat representative didn't seem to know his job very well. He quoted us a price on an excursion but then came back to us and r [... read more]aised it another ten dollars each. I asked him three separate times if alcohol was included, as my husband and I enjoy drinking while on holidays, he assured us that it was. He was wrong, he sold us a health spa type or snorkeling tour with absolutely no beer or alcohol. We went to see him the next day but it was his day off, and we were leaving the following day. We did see him before we left, with no satisfaction. Claims that he didn't know. So as I said, he did not know his job. We called AIR Transat to complain but they never got back to us and their website was unavailable. One more thing, the beach was beautiful but was unable to go in the water as it was too rough.

Paradise Playa Dorada: I will be back

I found the resort to be awesome. There was a lot of positive energy. The staff were very accommodating and happy. We had requested an ocean view-to our surprise were given a suite with a beautiful view. I plan on returning in April 2019 and would definitely need to book the same room1412. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Vacation!

We just came after our 2 weeks vacation at Be Live Collection Punta Cana and we can say that we were really impressed by the work of its entertainment team especially taking into consideration that we have long experience (more than 15 years with vacations every year and most of them were in the Dominican Republic). Very nice facilities, restaurants, buffet, gym (free of charge), and many other things. What I didn't like: the water on the beach was not clear at all and often full of sand (the sand there is very very fine).

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Wonderful time with the family!

It was perfect for families with children as there was lots to do with them. The shows were geared for the kids. I enjoyed the service and smiles from all the staff despite not speaking much English. Everyone appeared to be very helpful. Not so keen on the phone variety but overall everything was solid.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: VH Heavens

The resort was great. The activities group were amazing. The food was good too. Loved the a la carte and no reservations The rooms were spacious and clean. Only downside would be the fact that no rooms have beach view or really much of any view Keep in mind it is a small resort. My type but not everyone’s. Also the resort is back from the beach. We landed at 1115 and as we had no checked baggage we opted for the 35 Usd cab ride and were in our room by noon. Also keep in mind it wasn’t prime time. Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites: Great resort

Everything was about the hotel was perfect - food, drinks, hotel, weather. The only down side was that vendors were allowed onto the resort and that these vendors hustled you for a sale, even after saying no.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Huge Rexort

This is one Massive rexort. There are golf carts that come very often to take you where you wNt to go. Grounds are beautiful and surrounded by either fountains, pools or ocean. Many different and unique pools to choose from whether you want loud music party vibe or quiet relaxation. Beach is nice but lots of seaweed on shore. They try hard to clean it. Rooms are very large  [... read more]and have a big jacuzzi tub in the middle. Nice feature. Balcony also good size. Buffet was mediocre but always found something to eat. Great a la Carter restaurants however my favourites were the Toro steakhouse and Impanema Brazilian. Make sure you reserve restaurants as soon as you arrive. Service was fantastic. Never waited for drinks and dinner served quickly. The staff there speak great English. We did not encounter a language barrier at this resort once. Take advantage of resort credits for excursions. It saves you a ton of money. Also know that there are some things not included in the all inclusive which I was disappointed about. Mini golf for one. You can use resort credits however it will still cost you $6/person. Virtual reality shop by lobby. Fun but also cost you $10 a pop for 10 minutes. Escape room at $36to $48 per person. This stuff really should be included as part of the all inclusive price. Don’t be fooled by resort credit store. At the end their prices are exactly the same as the larger souvenir store across the hall. You aren’t saving anything. Casino amazing and pretty loose in paying out money. We won quite a bit. Servers also amazing in casino. You will never wait for drinks. Overall this resort was one of my favourites and will definitely teturn

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: A little tired...but clean

the grounds are kept lovely, and the resort is clean, but it is in dire need of an overhaul/reno. A fresh coat of paint and roofing replaced would go a long way to achieving this. The palms on the beach are lovely, and provide ample shade for when you've had enough sun. The breakwater lumps in the water, while effective at reducing the surf and resulting dangerous undertow, are unsightly and spoil the beauty. Service was overall very good, and the food was, well....the food. Not any better or any worse than most other resorts in the Caribbean, but certainly nothing to rave about. The Dolce Vito and the Takana ala cartes were decent, but the Orquidea ala carte was above average. Since we travelled with Air Canada, we were allowed 4 ala cartes, so we chose to go to Orquidea twice. Insect bites. Now here's a real minus. After a couple of days we noticed we were both getting small red welts all over, and were they itchy! At first, my wife thought they might be bed bugs, but after close inspection we determined this was not the case. We didn't feel anything biting us, and didn't see anything either. We were puzzled for a day or two, but we noticed others with the same red welts on their legs and arms. Then we saw them. Right around 5pm, when the sun was getting lower in the sky, tiny, almost microscopic winged bugs. Sandfleas we suspect. We coated ourselves with bug repellent as well as sunscreen for the remainder of the week, but the itching sort of spoiled the vacation. We have been to other resorts in the past where they fog the beach and pool areas with insecticides at dusk when everyone is away from those areas. The nightly entertainment was ghastly, although the Michael Jackson show and the circus show were quite good. All in all a good time, but a few things need addressing at this resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort with great employees

This resort is compact and easy to navigate, even with mobility issues. It is kept very clean, in the rooms and open areas. The public washrooms are well maintained. The grounds keepers are always busy and have everything well manicured. The food is an individual taste and for us it was fine. Juan, the smooth, smoothie maker was fantastic. Elvin at the beach bar was great, and I always had a delicious drink, even when I wanted just lemonade. Our room was kept clean and the fridge full. I rally h [... read more]ave no complaints about anything. The staff is as helpful, cheerful, and welcoming as you continually read in reviews of this property. Oh, the pillows were a bit firm for my liking, and it would have been nice to have stairs with railings to enter the pool - not just the ladders. Hope to return soon.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

No complaints here! It was the perfect size resort. Everything close by. Super clean, amazing service, clean beach, good food. Drinks were great and we loved the entertainment each night. would come back for sure

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Fantastic resort

We traveled as a group of friends. The resort was clean, rooms clean with supplies restocked daily. We always had good food to choose from. Pools we're clean with lots of chairs available. The staff was good, although they worked on Dominican time, we appreciated the slower pace !We had no complaints at all about this resort and would return. We had a chance to view the adult only sections and are going to book our next stay there!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: 9th Time

Smaller quiet hotel. Everything close by, beach is calm and no big hotels on either side for miles. Great walking beach and very scenic. Been there 9 times now. Food pretty good and staff are super. Drinks on the beach are of middle shelf standards.

Riu Republica: Great Resort!

The hotel, the grounds, the food, the beach all amazing. I do have a suggestion for your late arrivals though. The only food available in the later hours was at the sports bar(not so good). I think when you have a later arrival, having a space set aside with maybe buns and cold cuts would be greatly appreciated by guests.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Very Nice Resort

We loved everything there. It is very clean resort. Very big too. A lot of activities in the pool and on the beach. Most of the food was good. But the people who working there are not welcoming as other countries.

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Amazing resort

although my husband and got food poision the second day and we were flat out for two days sick in bed. the rest of our time was recovering, not eating much after this it took a tole on our bodies. the resort was beautiful and relaxing Sandy McKenna

Grand Palladium Palace: Amazing staff

Although we had a great time at this resort, it isn't one that I would go back to and cannot really give a reason why, spoiled I guess! The beach is great (mind you there is a lot of seaweed that is picked up daily, but they cannot keep on top of it), the pools fabulous (amazing bar staff....best we have ever had!) and the food was consistent good (not great). The rooms were large and well laid out, however if you have any mobility issues, the tub is extremely hazardous to get in. They hav [... read more]e a wooden step to assist you getting into the tub, but it is very deep (which is great if you want to jacuzzi it!). They have provided a grab bar, but I was always very careful getting in and out of it. The tub is surrounded by about a 4 inch strip of marble, which the shower cannot help but spray on. The opaque glass to the living area, may be opened, however, that has left a way for the water to run onto the floor in the living area. Easily fixed by putting a towel on the floor, however if you don't know it does that, it could cause a slip and slide moment. My husband likes more than one pillow and the jacuzzi would not turn on, so I went to the public relations desk to see if these could be fixed. They must have been done within a couple of hours and it was great to get a call to confirm that everything was now to our liking. This is a huge resort, however there are trains that go every 20 minutes, or you can hail one of the many shuttles that are around. The sports bar was on the complete other side of the resort and we went there a couple of times. We never waited more than 5 minutes for transportation. We went to 2 of the A la Cartes. The food was fine, as I said not great, and the portions were small. They have multitudes of different kinds of liqueur, so you can basically get what ever you want and the bartenders are more than pleased to mix it. Ask for each ones specialty.....they have some pretty good ones. I have read numerous comments on the lack of English. Don't believe it. We never ran into one staff that was unable to understand us. Great vacation.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Amazing Resort

The resort is really nice, clean, big and got a lot of activities. Location and weather were amazing. The beach was very clean and they had a lot of activities on it. Just I will recommend to have more varaity of food for the open buffet.

Occidental Caribe: Good Resort

Very clean. Staff is not very amicable... and they like to enforce all of the little anoying rules. Also, no free internet anywhere during the day... you have to pay 12$ us for 12 hours... WOW. Was also very hard to get the mini fridge filled correctly everyday (always missing something).
