Melia Las Americas: Beautiful Resort

Rooms were incredible! Loved the layout of the resort. Everything was very easy to access and close to the water. Food could have been better but all in all amazing trip! Would definitely recommend !!!

Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful resirt

Beautiful pools, beach was amazing. Our room was clean and we had a great view of Marina. Staff are friendly food was ok nothing special. The weather was wonderful. We had lots of fun. I would recommend this resort

Hotel Acuazul: Geat Location

I love the location however there are some downfalls to this hotel. The rooms have shutters for windows which is very annoying when it is windy as they make loud noise because the hinges are broken in order to close them. The TV's don't work half the time and keep shutting off or not turning on at all. The tub is to high to get into and the shower head does not stay on. Every morning around 400am there is a smell of sewer they must be pumping it out from somewhere and the roosters can be very an [... read more]noying. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: March Break

Hotel is great value for what you pay. Would def recommend. Don't listen to negative reviews! Advise: -Bring your own beach towels. You do only get one hotel beach towel for the week. Every night we dried them on our balcony (for that reason, I would recommend requesting a balcony). Brought dollar store hair clips to ensure nothing blows away, also used them as chair clips to keep your towel in place during the day. - Bring a insulated cup or Bubba (I bought mine at Canadian Tire), as the bar on [... read more]ly gives you small plastic cups, which means too many trips to the bar!!!! - Bring items to give away. We left our maid: Shampoo, soap and feminine hygiene products. In the kids room we left: notebook, pens and chocolate. -I read to bring a roll or two of loonies to tip with, but DON'T recommend this. The staff can't exchange coins, only bills of Canadian money. So recommend exchanging Canadian at hotel desk into CUC and tip with that. We tipped bartenders (def get better service!), gardener, chair boy on beach, beach guy that organizes free sailboats/paddle boats/kayaks (we enjoyed this, esp paddle boats as we took out and used as a raft while the kids snorkeled and dove for shells) and waiters at restaurants. Usually left 1-2 CUC. - Did Jeep Tour, again good value. We enjoyed it, esp fresh water cave and hanging onto alligator at ranch (the alligator guy was really funny). Be ready to be asked for tip after tip. Does get a bit tiring. We heard other people, took clothing and threw out jeep windows. The people and esp the children come out and wave when the jeeps go by. Wish I had taken some. - We didn't exchange our bath towels,ours friend did and what they got back was not as good, so suggest you hang them back up after each use. Worked for us. - Bring a wash cloth (if you use one) for your face, they are not provided. - Plugs for hair dryer and chargers are UNDER the night table by bed, so don't miss them. They worked well. The ones in bathroom didn't. - Bring after bite, I did get a few bites :-( - Bring lots of suntan lotion, I brought 3 bottles of 30spf (plus some lower numbers) for four people and we run out. Bought new bottle there for $40!!! Recommend one bottle per person. - Beds a little hard, but pillows good. However, after a day in the sun and the right mix of cocktails, I slept like a baby each night!! Have fun, we did!!! Very relaxing. Cheers!!

Paradisus Varadero: Good beach

The grounds were good . People were friendly the grounds were good and the staff was friendly for the most part . The room was bad!!!... No water pressure ; No hot water ; Pullow top on the bed was missing a big chunk ; some light bulbs were missing ... Not enough light ; problems with the electrical plugs ; Internet difficulties ; No hand towels... And the biggest problem was that after complaining to the various people , nobody offered any solution . Watch what you eat!... Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Poor, Poor Service!!

While the grounds, pool, beach and food were decent the "service" was terrible, eg: took 4-5 days to get clean towels, fridge not filled everyday, staff took 3 towels only returned 2 and hotel tried to charge us for "loosing" a towel (refused to pay). Staff promised to fix the problems, never did! Got lots of bug bites from the room too!

Hotel Los Cactus: Wonderful week at Breezes

We were two couples travelling to Breezes, we had a fantastic time, the beach is beautiful, the staff is friendly. We really enjoyed the piano bar and visit the coffee bar every day. We look forward to coming back soon.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Definately not a five star!

Our experience was average - not five star. Our room was not clean when we were permitted to check in. The chambermaid mopped the floors but our feet always got dirty just from walking on the floors. I don't think the mop and water had been cleaned. On two days we didn't get any water in our room. One evening they ran out of drinking water at the resort. They resorted to sparkling water which was all they had. One day there was no beer left in our fridge. When we came back to our room at the 5pm [... read more], we had called and requested that they bring a beer, they brought a warm one. The food was below average, but I understand they have limited resources. They do try hard with what they have. The a la cartes were better than the buffet, but marginally. The Spanish white wine was disgusting. The Chilean was decent but hard to get. Even when I asked for Chilean, they served me Spanish. The Buckanero beer was good. The beach was amazing! The drinks were not very good. I only had one Mojito that I would call good. The others were really inconsistent. The beach towels were ragged and soiled. The entertainment at the restaurants was very good and the night shows were very good! On our last day there we had to check out of our room at noon, but our bus didn`t go to the airport until 5:15pm. So we were able to reserve a time to shower at the spa after spending the afternoon at the beach. We had reserved 4pm. They didn`t have availability when we arrived for our shower, so we waited until 4:20 when they sent us to a suite in the building we had been staying in. It was their barrier-free suite which had been used by many people and was dirty. We had to shower with soap and shampoo that had been used by others and there were no towels. My husband tracked down a chambermaid who was able to give us one towel which we shared. Overall our experience was disappointing. I would give the resort a 3.5 star rating.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Melia peninsula Varadro

Had a great time at this resort. First trip to Cuba and wasn't disappointed. Hotel and staff were great. My room which was right by the pool was plenty of big, clean and a nice view. Food was good, although I don't recommend the Cuban for the a-la-carte. The beach .......beautiful. I would deffently go back to this resort. And if you go to Havana go see Tropicana. Amazing show

Hotel Los Cactus: Breathtaking beach!

Wonderful beachfront. Beautiful sand - no rocks, no seaweed. Clean all the way out. Accommodations were decent. Air conditioning was good. Maid service excellent. Food was average. Buffet had no variety from day to day. Of the specialty restaurants, the Italian was the only one worth doing.

Be Live Turquesa: Great resort for a quiet Veradero vacation

This was a smaller resort than we've stayed at in the past which meant less selection in terms of food and less nightlife, both of which we were fine with. Rooms were basic but clean, and air conditioner worked fine. Safes cost extra - 2 CUC per day, which is the first time we've seen this. One thing we would have liked to have known in advance is that the only place to change money is at the front desk and it's cash only. We weren't prepared with enough Canadian cash, as all other Cuban resort [... read more]s we've stayed at had a regular bank with the ability to use credit or debit cards to change money. We had to go to a mall 3km down the road to change money.

Melia Las Antillas: Met All Our Expectations

Lovely small resort on the best beach. It is a little dated, but you can see the efforts to restore. Food was fine, room clean. Will return. Sixth trip to Cuba, rate this as our #2 Resort, Hicacos being #1.

Paradisus Varadero: A wonderful trip!

Lobby, pool, beach exceptional. Good variety of food/rest. options (altho difficult to book reservation). Entertainment crew & eve shows excellent. Front desk is slow and difficult to get resort info from. Rooms basic. Travelled with teens. Would return.

Melia Las Americas: Melia Las Amazing !

Melia Las Americas is a great place to stay! Food is top notch ! Drinks, staff all excellent. If your playing golf in Varadero MLA is the place to stay ......1 minute walk to the pro shop, they'll have your bags on the cart when you get there . Rooms are good, great views ocean or golf course. There is no down side to MLA.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Great Time

Went with a group of friends and had a great time. Honest review: Its Cuba... The resort is not a true 4 star, but the beach is one of the best in the world and the weather at the beginning of March was amazing. The rooms were a little worn, but clean and the maids were great; lots of hot water. The staff were excellent, drinks weren't the best quality, but again, it's Cuba. The staff at the front desk were good and check in was fast. The pools were good and there was a great mix of people on th [... read more]e resort. I can't say enough about the entertainment staff, probably the best I've ever seen...They had activities for both young and old...there was always something going on; great band as well, had a lot of fun. The food is good, somewhat bland, but they had salt and pepper on the tables and there was a huge selection, if you couldn't find something to eat that you liked, the problem was you. The disco on the resort was fun and provided another place to party other than the lobby bar, which was always alive with people having a good time. No one was rude, great for families, young and old.

Melia Marina Varadero: Best in Cuba

Well travelled and regulars in Cuba, this is the best in Varadero and the Best value. Try the Level, you cant go wrong!! The marina is beautiful and the staff accommodating and friendly. Price is out, you wont be disappointed

Hotel Villa Cuba: Hotel was ok...but bad service

First don't book a villa! We had them move us into a room right away. The hotel is decent and the beach was gorgeous. We had one great lady at the service desk that helped us change our room ... And that was the end of that. We were only provided with one bottle of water in our room over the 4 day stay, when we asked for another, we were told no and they couldn't get us one until 9am the next day. We were on an excursion at 8:30am. We had to fill up with the water system at the buffet the whole  [... read more]weekend. We could not use our a la carte as they would only allow us to book with our rep between 1:30-2pm daily. Since we were not available at that time we were only offered the buffet. The availability of when food services were open was limited. then I got sick... Either from the water or bad food to the point were I ended up in urgent care when I returned home. It did not matter that I was ill, they still made us check out at noon even though our flight was not until 9pm. We tried to find the doctor 3 times but there was never one on site. I love cuba and have been several times but I would never go back to this resort.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Lovely Resort

We really liked this resort. We had set our expectations lower knowing that things are a bit different in Cuba. The resort had a nice layout and everything was close at hand. The beach was huge and easy to walk on. I thought wit ould be a bit whiter, but it was still powdery and very clean. There were a few jelly fish washed up a couple days due to high winds. The rooms are a good size, a bit dated, but always clean and the maids do a great job and we were treated with cute towel animals each day on the bed. The food was really good. The buffet offered many stations and lots of variety. The salad bar was amazing. Only complaint was the beef in the buffet, it was terrible, but on the other hand it was amazing in the Italian restaurant. The specialty restaurants were really nice and food was always excellent. We loved the beach restaurant for lunches. The workers were all nice and appreciated any tips. The hotel has a double decker bus going by and you can hop and hop off and go to Varedero to the local markets. If I go to Cuba again, I would definitely stay here. I would rate this as a 4 to 4.5. I loved the resort best at night time...very romantic setting. Entertainment program provided good to excellent varieties of shows. There was just enough activity in the day....not too much and they played different music each day which was nice. Also, there was never a problem to find a lounger or bed by the pool. The beach tended to be a bit busier. You get a butler who really only books your restaurants, but they are there if you need any assistance, so that is nice. All in all, a great value. Tip, go later in the year to get warmer weather. Avoid Jan/Feb.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Good value - if you set expectations accordingly

This is not the biggest resort so that's a plus and a minus It was exactly what you should expect for the price point that it's at Positives: great people, AMAZING beach, grounds are immaculate, HUGE room, lobby bar, location is handy to the locals (i.e. Varadero) Neutral: pool area, food (but we always found something to eat), snorkling Negative: very flat pillows, room and some facilities dated or in need of repair (take your own sporting gear), the whole beach towel fiasco (as not all gues [... read more]ts understood the system or chose to ignore it) we had a wonderful trip with great people who stayed focused on the positives the resort is getting better (new tv's while there) but it is what it is it is a very clean resort and we very much enjoyed our time with wonderful staff I would recommend it if you want a one-time cheap affordable vacation but I am the type of traveler who will try something different next time

Hotel Bella Costa: Bella Costa was awsome!

The staff are the best, very professional, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great. Not a bad meal all week. Italian a la carte featured home made pasta. Yummy! Easy to book tours and close to many attractions. The beach amazing!
