Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Nice place to relax!

This is a nice resort. Check in was quick and no problem. They did try to upsell me to a bigger room for $700 us for the week. Uh no thx! The resort is very clean and the property is well maintained. You can walk to everything with no shuttle. Be careful tho the floors are very slippery when wet. I've seen a few people in arm and leg casts there from falling on the wet floors. Their rooms are nice but one thing that bothered us was the wall between the bathroom and main room had an opening and just a frost glass in between. So needless to say privacy is an issue as u can still sort of see in and hear everything when someone is using the toilet and shower. Beds are awful. Very uncomfortable. Our room had a drip over the toilet which was a pain. We told our concierge about it. She took note of it but nobody came to fix. Our room also wasn't cleaned until 5:00pm. One day way after that so I just sent her away. The food in the buffets were very good. You won't be disappointed there. We had 3 ala carts. They were all fantastic! Especially the Japanese. That is a must if you go. The other two were Mediterranean and steak house. The main pool is nice but it's very busy and they usually do activities there. The quiet pool is where you want to be if you prefer relaxing and a more quieter environment. If you want to be under an umbrella I'd suggest you wake up early and reserve your recliners with your towels or you won't get one. Seemed everyone was doing that. The beach is really nice but my advice is to bring water shoes. It's quite rocky when you walk in. The restaurant at the beach wasn't very good. Not much of a selection other then fries, rice and chicken wings(which they kept running out of) the drinks here were also not very good. The drinks in the lobby and swim up bar were fantastic. Especially the mojitos. The lazy river is a nice feature of this resort. My kids loved it. There is also a ton of wildlife here. Most I've seen in a resort. Coaties, raccoons, giant grasshoppers and lots and lots of iguanas everywhere. They don't bother you at all. It was actually kind of cool seeing them so close. The shows in the theatre were all very good. One thing I would advise is if you plan to go to Playa de Carmen take a taxi from the resort. Air transat offers a free ride but they make you stop and a jewelry store and tequila factory. Those were ridiculous. Wasted 2 hours of our time with them trying to sell us over priced jewelry and tequila. But if you don't mind having a worker shadow your every move in the stores trying to sell you a $6000 bracelet then this place is for you. If you prefer more time at Playa de Carmen spend the $20 for the cab. It's well worth it. So overall it's a nice place. U will enjoy if you get it at a reasonable price.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing Resort!

Went to this fabulous resort the first week of July. Yes it was hot, but so worth the trip in July. The grounds were very well kept, the rooms very clean, the food was absolutely fabulous and the staff were amazing. Especially Victor and Carlos in the buffet near the beach! Really made us feel welcome. I found the resort to be a bit big for my liking, but there were trolley's that took you around. The beach was not so great only because there was a lot of seaweed and not much of a flat a [... read more]rea for walking, but the view was still spectacular. Not too far down from the beach we found a cold water crystal blue lagoon. It was very refreshing and so beautiful. Only about a 10 minute walk from our hotel down the beach. Overall, we had a fantastic time. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing vacation at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

It was a girl's only vacation and it was absolutely fantastic! Resort is absolutely beautiful, everywhere you turned you found something to admire. It was huge. I love animals and this resort has a few of them running around playing and looking for their next meal. I was quite entertained by the racoon on the beach helping himself to lunch and was able to get some great pictures of him. Our snorkeling adventures managed to take seeing a turtle and a sting ray off the bucket list. Food and  [... read more]drinks were available all day long - even the pickiest of eaters would find something to eat. They have 7 al la carte restaurants, an ice cream parlour and a coffee shop. Staff were friendly and helpful. The design of the buildings was very unique and efficient when being shuttled to and from your room. I flew with Transat and got a free bottle of Tequila and slippers. Water pressure was perfect. I also loved the towel décor staff made everyday - I looked forward to seeing the creation of the day! Ping pong, yoga, volleyball, snorkelling, kayaking, nightly entertainment something for the whole family.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Awesome staff!

I loved the week we stayed there. The staff are amazing and in particular the entertainment crew. The only drawback we found was the lack of air circulation in the theatre, so we just learned to bring a hand fan and some water :)

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Amazing family trip!

We just got back from GPK and it was awesome! Our kids are 17, 11 and 4 and they are missing it already! The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The beach is beautiful! A little bit of seaweed some days but no big deal. We loved the bridges and covered walkways. The food was great and the staff were friendly. We did lose power on and off in our room but I think it was from the thunderstorms that came and went quickly. Room service was fun and the pools were great. And the bars also have po [... read more]psicles and ice cream for the kids which is nice! We did 2 excursions. One to Xcaret Park which was amazing!!! And the second was a dolphin encounter at a hotel down the street. The dolphins were great!! The photo prices however were not! $225 USD for one disk of photos. And that was after I talked him down! Definitely haggle if you go, they're very open to bargaining. Over all the whole trip was an incredible experience that we would love to do again!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Awesome trip!

The resort is beautiful and felt it was very well maintained. The food was amazing especially at the restaurants. Favorite buffet was by the infinity pool. Staff very friendly there as well. Enjoyed the relaxing experience very much

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great Service!

From the moment that we stepped off the bus, the staff at the resort were nothing short of amazing. The service really is top notch. We booked a the penthouse suite with a roof top jacuzzi and we were not disappointed in the least. The room is modern, spacious and was cleaned perfectly each day. We had multiple choices to eat at the a la cartes but we only ending up booking two nights as the buffet was delicious and had many choices to suit all of our needs. The pools were relaxing and h [... read more]ad something for everyone. We would alternate between the quiet pool and the activity pool depending on our mood. In both places we were served pool side. The beach was nice and was only a short trolley ride away. Service on the beach was awesome. All in all it was a great place to stay and we would definitely return. If you are eating in the buffet at breakfast or lunch, please ask for Faustino, he was an amazing server who worked countless hours and never went without a smile. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Wonderful family vacation

Visited with our two son's (teens) a week ago. The resort, grounds, food and service were beyond amazing. We stayed in building 12 and loved it. We were close to the main restaurant area and a short walk to the beach. We had no problems booking our reservations for all the restaurants and were very pleased with all of them. I wish I would have discovered the juice bar earlier! If we were to point out something that could have been better, I would say the internet service. We had problems c [... read more]onnecting every single day we were there. Ideally while on vacation this shouldn't be much of an issue but we did need to have access to it for work related issues. Another thing worth mentioning is if you want to visit Playa del Carmen, don't take the jewelry store free transportation(suggested by the tripcentral representative at Azul). It was a waste of time and it cut our trip really short in town. Also watch out for the meals served outside of the hotel (in outings) three of us became really ill after the Xenotes outing (had nothing to do with the actual hotel). Overall all of our positive experiences at Azul Fives outweigh the few issues we had while there. I can't say enough about the outstanding service and the willingness of every single staff member to make our experience unforgettable. We will most definitely be going back and thank you to Nicole Kirk for suggesting such a great place!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Lovely Vacay

My boyfriend & I (29 & 32 yrs) just returned home from Mexico yesterday... weather was great!! nice HOT sunny days, occasional rain but not for long. stayed in villa 72 room 21 (7221)... not a bad location .. farther from lobby (7 min walk) but 4 min walk to beach/1 of the pools/snack bar ..etc.. Resort: grounds are beautifully kept, nice/clean. Large resort but shuttles/trolleys come around often to take you to your room ,the beach, lobby, and the other sister resorts. you are able to use [... read more] any of the resorts (beach, pool, food & drinks etc..) my boyfriend and i didn't mind walking most of the time ..but shuttles do come around often. lots of wildlife around the grounds, very neat to see!! -You can use/go to any of other Bahia resorts (Coba, Si' Kian, Tulum) I found Coba had a lot of kids , tulum was a nice mix and good food, Si' Kian was quiet. before booking i was stuck between Akumal & Si' Kian because we did want, adults only...but after visiting Si' Kian im happy we went with Akumal it was a bit more lively & guests were more relaxed Wifi: free all throughout the property/resort ..even on the beach ATM: in the lobby, US $ Beach: lots of beach areas to choose from - i liked the one near the infinity pool- a bit quieter than the others...water was nice and clear..no sea weed/rocks... not too deep .. able to walk out pretty far... I can't rave about the sand/actually beach itself but it was nice ...and just to be on the beach...can't complain -never had a problem getting beach chairs / under a palm tree, or fresh towels , bars on the beach Room: nice clean rooms, bar restocked daily, clean towels, jacuzzi tub, nice shower (good pressure, nice attachments..hair dryer, iron etc..), balcony, AC & ceiling fan (always nice and cool), safe (free) in room Staff: GREAT! no complaints. soo hardworking. very accommodating. language barrier was no big deal..most could understand what you were asking for/ saying Food: lots to choose from...no shortage there, quality of the food was just okay. nothing to rave about but you won't go hungry. you can eat all meals at any of the resorts. room service available 24 hrs, snack bar open 24 hr A la Cartes: book them ASAP of you will end up not getting in or having late reservation (10pm) went to 3, all very good! try to get in as many as you can, nice change from buffet :) Drinks: ALL inclusive& Premium liqour which was nice (Hennessy, Grey goose, nice wines,Jack Daniels, lots of tequila, cocktails etc ... not watered down or cheap tequila self serve bar set up with shot glasses and about 13 different types of tequila (in the bar by the theater) open all day Theater&shows: plenty of seating, some tables, A/C. different shows every night and very enjoyable. beach party on friday nights Trips: went to Coco Bongs on the tuesday night.. 60 US included all your drinks & transportation there&back (about 40 mins each way). the bus picks you up from the hotel around 9:15 but it doesn't come to pick you up from the bar until 4-4:30. a group of us (7) got our own taxi back at 2:30 (cost us 60 US for 7 ppl) if your looking for a fun night out i recommend this. the show is great! very busy (even on the tues night) hard to find somewhere to sit (especially if your a male) they invite a lot of the females on stage / upper dancing area / table area.... bar/show goes on until about 4:30- 5 am ... great show to see if your looking to have some fun/party Trip 2: went to the Coba ruins & then to a mayan village.... great experience. lots of history & you are able to climb the ruins at Coba only. * must see/climb if able. you can rent bikes for 3 US and bike through the Coba ruins .. or you can walk... or they will drive you on bikes "Privilege Club": I read reviews to stay away & that it was a waste of time...however, they got my bf to agree to it ... in the end I was fine with the decision. We didn't agree to what they were selling but they still gave us a bottle of tequila & a 90 US spa gift certificate that my bf used for a massage. it was a 90 min presentation ... they show you areas exclusive to the privilege club (beach area, certain section of rooms - closer to the beach etc..) maybe not a bad idea for some who enjoy travelling often Location: about 1 hr 15 min drive from the airport. 35 mins to playa del carmen not much around walking distance. you can taxi to other beaches/ attractions if you wish. All in all, great vacay! I would definitely recommend the resort. This was my first time to Mexico, I prfer to travel mostly to the Caribbean.. hope this review helped :) enjoy your vacay if you decide on Bahia Principe Akumal :)

Riu Playacar: Great resort!!!!!

The resort was very clean, The entertainment was amazing. The day crew was very interactive got people involved. However the air conditioning in our room would not go lower than 23 degrees. In the summer that is not cold enough. Our kids rooms air conditioner was working better. Called for service they never came, called again the man showed but did nothing. The Japanese ala cart was nothing special. Did not enjoy the Italian. Mexican and steak house were very good. Very close to playa del Carm [... read more]en, actually ended up eating out a few nights. Beach was INCREDIBLE!!!! Beautiful with palms all over, plenty of chairs.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Safe and beautifully landscaped

This resort is very well maintained and has adequate staff. Food was very good with a lot of high quality items in the buffet. The only drawback were the tiny ants in our hotel room, but we were ground floor and I suppose it was to be expected but there was a lot of them. The transportation to and from the airport was well organized and easy to navigate ( I travelled by Transat). The beaches are beautiful but have no waves due to wave breakers installed just beyond the swim areas.

100% worth every penny. We had a great time and were very impressed with staff and services provided. The little trolley could become a bit of an exercise in patience but ...you're on holiday, what's your rush?

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: awesome resort, rocky beach

Impressed with the layout and the size of the resort. The Service was good for most part, people were rather helpful and spoke fairly good English. The water in the beach was relaxing and beautiful, but the beach was too rocky. Way too many rocks in the water, making water shoes a must. The pools were well placed but the water was way too warm, not cool and refreshing like a pool should be. My biggest complaint is that somebody picked up two of our towels by the pool the day before we left and on checkout, they charged me a ridiculous $28 US EACH. That really turned me off, as if I knew the beach towels had to be returned on check out, would of handled it another way, but they wouldn't give me a clearance to board the bus till I paid that $56 US total...UGH..... I don't know if I will ever visit that resort again, because it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Exceeded expectations

Having arrived unsure of precisely what to expect, my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. Grounds were fabulous...little touches like maintenance painting the outdoor light posts most days (but not in an invasive way) made the difference. Food at Sian Ka'an was delicious and 9 times out of 10 staff went above and beyond to assist. Also worth mentioning...mosquitos aren't nearly as bad as I had expected (for a hotel in the "jungle") plenty of iguanas on hand to control populations. Not sure if I was fortunate due to minimal rain but I used insect repellent twice the entire trip, my husband who is normally mosquito bait, came away with 5 total bites! Overall, very pleased! Can't wait to return!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good family resort !

This is a great family hotel, if you don't have kids I would not recommend it as they are everywhere LOL However, the hotel grounds & rooms are very clean. Service in buffets and restaurants is great and there is lots of variety at the buffets although there is no air-conditioning in the main enclosed buffet, with the heat in Mexico and considering there are meats, fish and even sushi left out it is a must ! Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great resort!

We had a great time staying at the Blue Bay Esmeralda. The staff was amazing. The food was incredible. Our room was very clean and modern. Our room was a 10-15 minute walk to the beach but there's a little golf cart shuttle that will bring you there. The beach itself wasn't the greatest but still ok. Plus there are two large pools close to the beach as an option. There's always a large variety of activities to do there. I liked that Playa de Carmen was only a 15 minute shuttle away. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A perfect stay!

This hotel is amazing. I knew we would have a good stay form all the review we read, but it was over each expectation! Staff were nice and funny, hotel is really clean. The room is beautiful and the road to the beach is really not a problem! We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel! Tammy from Tripcentral was really nice also, she answered all of my question really quickly every time!
