Barcelo Maya Colonial: It was okay.

It has become very commercialized since we were there 3 yrs ago. At that time it was a great small resort. That is why we have come back 6 times. They put us in the wrong resort when we got there and it took 2 days before we were put in the resort I paid for. As far as a welcome pkg which I also paid for, it did not show up for 4 days and that was with a daily reminder to the people at Transat. It took 4 different people and 4 days to get what I paid for. I do not think we will go back there because this past trip felt like a fight trip with the hotel and not the relaxing vacation I am use to having when at the Barcelo.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Awesome resort with a very luscious grounds.

Resort is very spacious and very well maintained, always see ground keepers working away. Room was clean and had all the essentials including an in room coffee maker, every day had clean towels and fridge replenished. Bonus was they had cold water available to fill your own bottles at all beverage stations (bars & restaurants). Buffets were busy but never had to wait more then a few moments to get seated or food/drinks. Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Very Nice resort

Travelling as a couple, no kids. Well kept very clean resort. Great for families. Excellent service everywhere we went, little to no wait at any of the restaurants we went to. However, a big drawback for us was that the beach was very rocky. Getting in and out of the water was not an easy stroll in and out as there were long stretches of rocks that were a couple of feet drop or step up. Definitely need water shoes! Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Amazing resort with the best service around!

Everything from start to finish was absolutely amazing! Every where you went the service was amazing. Everyone was very helpful and kind. The gated community of puerto Aventuras was probably the best part. We walked down to the strip of restaurants and shops a couple nights and felt just as safe as Canada. Everyone was friendly and not pushy when it came to the shops

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Nice resort but not 5 star.

This resort was a series of hits and misses. For example, the activity pool which offered some of the cooler activities was out of commission... miss, but the buffet was delicious, varied it's content, well maintained and clean... hit. On the other hand the beach was overrun with seaweed... miss, but had ample seating and an excellent balance of shade & sun PLUS super beach bar service... hits. The room was large and clean enough... hit, but did not contain a full length mirror... miss. [... read more] The spa was disappointing. We booked a couples massage and the last 10 minutes of the treatment it became very apparent that both masseuses were more interested in the silent conversation they were holding than completing our treatments as their hands stopped moving entirely so that they could focus on one another rather than on us... miss, however our subsequent pedicures with the fish tank was amazing... a giant hit. The ATM in the lobby would not accept my cc and the front desk was completely useless and uninterested in assisting me in obtaining any cash... massive miss. To be clear, the card worked seamlessly everywhere BUT the hotel sanctioned ATM. Other misses in my opinion were that the a-la-carte restaurants did not offer any vegan options, nor did the snack buffets. Overall a nice place to stay. No the 5 stars they claim to be though... more like 3 1/2.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Perfect for any group!!

We had an unbelievable time. Royal plan COMPLETELY worth it. We were incredibly spoiled with luxury everywhere no only in room, surrounding flora and fauna but also by the wonderful staff. Happy all the time it seemed. Incredibly clean resort. Buffets good but restaurants spectacular. Travelled with our 2 girls,10 and 11yrs. Lots to do never, a dull moment if you are looking to stay on the move. But plenty of day beds to do absolutely nothing on other than watch the ocean.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Wonderful getaway!

We went as a couple, my husband and I, just to unwind and take in some sun. Service was 5 star, never waited for tables or drinks, waiters very attentive! Rooms always cleaned and made up so wonderfully and promptly each day. Staff super helpful and friendly. We stayed in the platinum section and were pleased with the location and short walk to restaurants and beach. Completely surpassed my expectations as I had read some questionable reviews. The only negative comment would be that the beach f [... read more]ront is rocky entering the water and some days there can be a lot of washed up seaweed, but that's an issue that the entire shoreline of playa del carmen battles with and not much the resort can do about! And so they make up for it in all the other areas! As for swimming in the ocean we simply walked 1 minute down the beach to the grand princess section (which you have access to and all the amenities there as well!!) and their beach is super easy and fun to swim from! We had a great time and have zero complaints and no regrets! Super relaxing and just the right amount of quiet time mixed with some enjoyable entertainment.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Top notch service!

That's what you can expect when you stay at Now Sapphire! Staff was amazing and service was outstanding. Everyone was cheerful, friendly and helpful. Grounds were amazing, pool was beautiful and the beach was lovely. They were battling seaweed while we were there which made it undesirable to go in the ocean. Food was good! Lots of choices! Great family holiday. Would definitely recommend!

Grand Oasis Cancun: Absolutely Beautiful

Overall my experience at the Grand Oasis was one for the books. The resort itself was in beautiful condition and very well maintained. The staff were very friendly and also very accommodating although there were only a small few able to speak English. I would recommend this resort mainly to younger people or families with kids as both seem to be the audiences most catered to. 8/10 rating after my first experience in Mexico, and I know I’d definitely go back if I ever got the chance!

Moon Palace Cancun: Amazing Resort!

I can not say enough about The Moon Palace, Sunrise Resort. This place is amazing. All the staff are so kind, helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent. The entertainment team were fabulous. This place catered to children and adults. I love the fact that our bracelets were our door keys. The list could go on & on. I highly recommend this resort.

Riu Cancun: average resort

Beach is the best part - it is spectacular. Pools were great also. Hot tub was cold, lol. Hit and miss with service. Lobby bar has the best service. Entertainment average If you like going into the city - it is a perfect location - walking to most clubs. Elevators were always malfunctioning and breaking down. We were on the 14th floor - I didn't mind too much because I like the exercise. Only liked the Italian restaurant. Japanese and Steak house - not so good. Buffet was a [... read more]verage. Been to Mexico 18 times, and there are much better resorts to choose.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Paradisus playa del Carmen la perla

The entire grounds in resort was in exquisite order, trimmed tidy. All in all well kept. Food was beyond excellent. Cannot say enough about the staff. They all went over and above to make our stay unforgettable.

I had a fantastic relaxing vacation at this resort! I cannot say enough about the service from Israel at the pool. Wow, he was amazingly on it....from the best drinks I ever had at a resort, exactly when we were just ready for them, to bringing fresh fruit and the best guac, salsa and chips! He truly made the trip so worth it. Love love love him! We relaxed at the pool daily and loved the live music. It was very chill and relaxing, had a great bar and a really nice Zen relaxing vibe. The beach was gorgeous and this resort had soft fine sand, the least seaweed, and the water was a tropical tourquise. The best I've seen in Mexico. They even have a little dolphin area at the end of this strip of beach that we stumbled on the last day. The restaurants were very nice... We loved Helios... Awesome service, and food. I'm not a seafood lover but the grilled bass was amazing and I loved the fillet mignon. The French restaurant French onion soup was awesome and my friend loved their surf and turf. The steak was a different cut than I was used to and the lamb had a unique flavor that I didn't love, as I really like rosemary thyme flavored lamb and mint sauce. Totally loved the French restaurant's vibe though with the French music, long curtains and French provincial dishes. The rooms are amazing. I especially loved the loft suite with the bar, and modern decor. The beds were comfortable and it was really nice to have options of pillow loft. The outside balcony overlooked the pool and was really nice to eat breakfast on as you could hear the tranquil music in the morning. The single rooms are very nice...still modern and beautiful, but just not as outstanding as the loft. The balcony chairs need pillows to be comfortable. The opposite side in building 1, not overlooking the pool was really quiet and I could see the ocean. It was so nice to wake up to! All the people we met on the resort were super nice. The spa was awesome. I loved the variety of the rooms and the salt and snow rooms were cool unique touches! I heard positive things about their massages, as well! We wanted a relaxing vacation and this was it. We're all going to go back. I think in a few more months they'll have all the food down even more as well! I actually really liked that this resort had it's own osmosis water filtration system, so the water was safe to use. You also, have to see the Chic show when you go. It's awesome. Amazing singers and dancers! There wasn't a ton of night life, but they did have a beach party, nightly live music and dancing in the courtyard. There's also a little shopping mall area and a great bar where you can play pool and foosball. They had little boats and carts to help make travel easy around the resort as well. We had a wonderful vacation!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Beautiful Resort

Very enjoyable, stress-free experience made possible by excellent staff, pristine grounds and great food. Buffets were very good and restaurants were good as well. Disappointed to see most restaurants less than half full considering difficulty in getting reservations.

Riu Cancun: Great resort - clean - nice room

Went on spring break - March 9 - 16, good options for a more upbeat environment but also areas with more relaxing pools/beach. Good food with many buffet options at all times of day. Disco was mediocre but a good place to hangout at the bar at night if you are not going into town. Wide stretch of beach with nice sand. Overall clean resort - bathrooms near the pool bar could use some additional attention.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Lovely resort

We loved the Mexican theme..food, decor, artwork, etc..wanted to experience the Mexican style not a cookie cutter hotel. All the staff were amazing and very helpful about tours, wheelchairs, iPad assistance!

El Cid Resort Castilla: Good location

Check in was very disorganized and very loud. The resort was nice but our room sure could use a renovation. The elevators were really slow and small. The food was so so and the dining room was very big. A person had to check their coffee cups before using because they were not alway as clean as they should be. There was also two bottles of water in our room but you had to leave a donation if you were going to drink them. There was also a coffee maker in the room but you had to pay for th [... read more]e coffee. The service at the resort was not too bad. Housekeeping was good but they did forget to leave bath mats and face clothes. The beach was nice. The entertainment was very loud.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: perfect resort

All I can say is this hotel was just excellent, best food, I have had at a hotel, rooms were very nice, service was awesome, Best hotel going back next year and staying at the same hotel. The hotel staff were very helpful, and very accommodating ,also very pleasant, everyone always had a smile, They had great entertainment nightly, buffet's had a different venue each night like seafood night, BBQ night, and a lot more, It definitely has Mexican charm, close to the beach. Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: As expect

The hotel is as expect ( similar to all other Riu Palace in all other place we stay), that is good. The buffet dinner is not as good as other Riu Palace ( limit supply) Staying at Riu Palace was suppose to able to use other such as Riu Santa Fe and Riu Palace Baja .It is easy to get to Santa Fe but not Baja. To get to Baja, need to walk through the beach. Also, friend of mine was staying at Baja, we invited them to join us for dinner and was turn down at the door. Las Brisas Huatulco: Great location

This resort is very clean, we’ll landscaped and nicely looked after. Food was good with 5 al a carte restaurants besides the big buffet. We never waited in line for food or seating. Ocean Water was warm a realitively calm.
