Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Very nice resort

We have stayed for the 2nd time here . We love this resort. Nice location Good food Clean. Nice staff. No complaints about this resort. This is are 4th time to Varadero and we are looking forward coming back to this resort in the near future.

Melia Marina Varadero: melia marina apartments veradero cuba

Great view of the marina facing the hotel and can view ocean. Room 6406 (all rooms start with 6) great friendly staff. Suggestions for buying your food: make a trip to veradero as food/beer etc half price. There is a grocery store on sight, fresh baguettes to purchase a cafe, and fruit/veggie stand along boardwalk on site. Found a great food spot around the corner from one of the main shopping complexes in veradero that had the best food for 2 peso! Would definately go back but bring condiments, [... read more] milk powder etc. Our trip was dirt cheap for a 5 star. You can also purchase a bracelet at the hotel resort for $42 cdn for all inclusive from 7:30 am until 6 pm. ($55 cdn until midnight)

Grand Memories Varadero: Grand memories varadero

Short of staff, not enough towels, same food everyday no room service internet connection suck got the diamond club but no diamond club treatment had to carry my own baggage no welcome one got there no hot water this is not a 4 1/2 star hotel

Brisas Del Caribe: if they treated first time guests" half as good"

Starting from beginning....this was my fourth time to Varadero...i have stayed in some less désirable areas and have been more satisfied. OK.... front desk.  Terrible service.  I have never felt more ignored or disrespected when asking for anything here.  We arrived at 10..waited til 4pm for our room and then the just threw the keys on the desk and didn't even tell us what direction it was or where it was.  Getting money changed here was horrible.  They ignored us most times and hoarded o [... read more]ne dollar pesos like they were gold. I personally love to tip.  I ended up tipping with 3 and 5 dollar pesos for at least 3 days because i was dying for good service and ones would not be given to us.  I could complain more about the front desk- but its a waste of time. ROOM...We stayed in main building on second floor.  Our maid was amazing!  Loved Lidia.  She was one of the best maids i have ever had. And kept our room fresh with cute towel art.  Lots of water replaced daily and towels and toilet paper.  Our bathroom door handle fell off and was not fixed.. It was extremely quiet in room 220 because we weren't facing the pool. This room was really convenient and close distance to almost all things at the resort. Beach.- perfect and beautiful.  Its why I go to Varadero.  Watch very closely to the locals walking up and down the beach.  There are tons of drug propositions happening and we were haggled everyday to buy things...and offered to buy drugs at least 5 times in one day.  The security is present there...but allow these people up on the beach To Hassel the guests.  It really upset me.  Also one of the security men tried selling me things - also tried to get us to pay him to take us to Havana. We left the beach and went to the pool most days because no matter how far we moved back on the beach, people were still being allowed to come up and Hassel us to buy things.  I have never had this problem in any of my trips to Varadero..it just really upset me- because this is why i stopped going to Dominican and coming to Cuba....there was actually an instance that a man was swimming in the water, and asked my boyfriend where he was from and that he had weed...cocaine...or whatever he "needed". Food...I'm used to Cuban food and actually enjoy it...i just question the food safe practices there...as most of the stuff is not kept hot and Left to sit.  I dodnt get sick and i ate lots.  Like I said...I'm not picky. Best place to eat is at beach grill ' Caleta Grill.  Much tastier than buffet. Pool bar closes as 6pm..lobby bar at 12. They ran out of alcohol every day...no beer....no vodka....and no sorries...lol there is also a "secret" piano bar on the third floor that serves MUCH better drinks.  Lots of elderly people up there.   Overall...i see a lot of older returning guests....and from what I understand ...unless you are a return repeat guest...you don't get the same treatment or warm réception. I never go to Cuba expecting mighty things...but I guess i was expecting a bit more...in terms of friendliness and didn't get it this time unless i was waving money around.

Hotel Bella Costa: Comfortable relaxing resort

Hotel needs some TLC. Grounds were well kept. Beach needed some attention to remove debri. To catch the double decker bus to varadero it was at least a mile walk. Food was good and there was plenty of choices. A La Carte excellent. Great indoor lounge area. Rooms kept very clean

Melia Marina Varadero: The Melia Marina was a great surprise.

I really enjoyed this hotel. The food was really good, I enjoyed the little boardwalk by the marina with the shops, try the Anana Pina Colada by the ward it's a great setting and a nice refreshing drink. There is tons of staff they are great with people and kids! There's always chairs at the pool! The only down size there's a 5 min strole to the beach and yiu can't see it from the hotel but the staff gets you chairs, sits you down and the restaurant on the beach quickly makes you forget that wal [... read more]k. The beach is ok not amazing but it's Varadero no Cayo Coco. I will go back to the same hotel!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Very good location

This is the second time I stayed at this hotel/resort. Very friendly helpful staff. Clean in all areas. Beach clean and always had loungers available. Pool looks good but did not use as am a sand person. Food was very good with a selection to choose from. I anyone goes away hungry it would be their own fault. Hotel centrally located with lots to do within walking distance. Will be returning to this hotel when I go back in the future.

Melia Las Americas: Wonderful experience

Overall we had a great experience at this hotel. Although the building looked a little worn down from the outside, the inside was beautifuly finished with marble floors, wood details and concrete walls; the grounds were well maintained. The rooms were very clean but room service was very slow. Front desk staff was helpful. I must admit that the food was excellent. The servers in the main buffet were awesome at keeping the tables clean and our beverages replenished. 4 A la carte restaurantes was a bonus. We missed swimming in a warm enough pool. We spent more time at the lower pool with the grill and swim up bar which was was a little warmer.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Very nice place

The pool was deeper then other places I have been and it was so clean. The first night we were there the power went out all over the resort. Because I didn't get to look around before hand I didn't see that some of the walk ways were uneven and broken. Which turns out I fell on the walk way , it was very painful but I survived. Some of the guest were so rude there were a few that just push in front of us to get something to eat. It was disgusting that their parents didn't teach them to wait their turns. It wasn't just the kids but the adults too. The grounds were very well taken care of. The front desk were amazing I had forgotten my coat on the bus and they helped me find it and told me were to pick it up. I was surprise that my Rep didn't take us there to pick it up but told us how to get to their main office on the bus. It turned out we had fun on the bus as we went downtown. We traveled with Air Canada and the money you need to pay to get in and out of the country was added into our ticket, that was nice we didn't need to worry about having the correct money to get in and out of the country. But the flight was kind of unpleasant, that company did not offer a drink for free or anything for refreshments. The pool bar people were wonderful, we gave them a good tip almost right away and after that we didn't really have to say what we wanted each time, they remembered us. They were friendly and I thought they were great. In all I did have a good time for the week we were there. There was a few very windy days but the sun was out and that was good for us.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful holiday

This is a wonderful resort. The grounds are well maintained. Our room was always clean, never saw a bug inside. (airconditioner did not adjust, but 17° was better than too hot.) The room was very quiet overnight. The food was plentiful and good (stick to grill items for freshest). Bottled water is used throughout the resort. Bring a thermos style/travel mug to keep your water or drinks colder for longer. They will fill up your travel mug directly instead of using the small plastic cups for your [... read more] drinks. The weather was perfect all week. Take the Havana/Tropicana tour if you can. It is worth it. We enjoyed the ocean Cataraman trip. I hear that going into Varadero (6th Avenue street party) for the evening if a must, but I did not know about it until I returned home.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great staff....

Well.....no hot water in our rooms (3) all week. Only 2 towels all week, with no beach/pool ones. The only reasons to go to this hotel is the amazing staff. Friendly helpful and unfortunately for them held back by lousy management and a lack of supplies.

Hotel Acuazul: Superb beach, less than good hotel

Hotel: Dinnnig-OK, noisy hotel (from beside street or from entertaining area), gasoline smell goes in the rooms that are facing street), lukewarm water for shower, cleaning was good, bar good. Beach: Very nice beach, clean, one can take long walks or swim, life guard on duty every day, one can almost pet pelicans :)

Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories

We tried to book our al a'carte the first day we arrived and we were only able to get one. On the fourth day at the buffet they ran out of red wine. The same night they ran out of white and red wine at the lobby bars. There were too many people for the facilities. The jeep safari was the best part of the trip.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Great resort for a 3+, I'd say it was easily a 4,

My best friend and I absolutely loved this resort and everything about it. It had a lot of sitting room, great beach access and additional seating, great buffet and resturants. The location was perfect for us as well, it was a 5 peso cab ride to the night district of Varadero. The resort needs some paint, and our last few days by the games area smelled of sewage but all in all we loved it. We honestly couldn't figure out what people were complaining about with this resort.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort

Had a great time other than the food but you don't go to Cuba for the food. The beach was amazing with plenty of activities. There were always beach and pool chairs available. Staff were not quite as friendly as we normally find when on vacation. All in all a very nice week. Weather was perfect.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great holiday, met or exceeded most expectations

Hotel was very nice, well maintained, clean, everything (electrical, plumbing, etc.) all worked very well. I requested some room specifics and they were all in place (2nd floor, quiet area, two beds). I know some have a negative view of the food in Cuba, but I had no complaints about the food here. Lots of choice, well made, tasted good. The "al a carte" restaurants were good as well, not the same food from the buffet which I've seen before. The pool area was beautifully designed and BIG. You ne [... read more]ver felt like you were laying on top of others. The beach was the only small disappointment. I'd heard the beaches in Varadero were spectacular and this one wasn't. It was fine, but not spectacular. The staff were great, so friendly and helpful. Activities pool-side each afternoon, shows each night. We had absolutely no complaints.

Club Tropical: More than Pleased

We were there Feb 27 to March 5, 2016. Had an ocean view suite (we shared a common space with another tourist in his room)Disappointed that the windows were not cleaned - hard to see through them to the ocean. We were literally less than 20 feet from the beach. The resort was clean (no garbage in or around the resort, not like closer to Havana) and the staff were friendly. We had a toilet seat, hot water, food was tasty and plentiful and were central to everything in Varadero. The beach was clea [... read more]n, sandy and the water was warm. Entertainment was O.K. We even played BINGO! (have never done that at home!) I'm not a pool person, but it was beautiful plus a lovely child's wading pool. I will emphasize this with my son and his family. We plan to return next year.

Palma Real: Truly Thriving Resort in Varadero

Nice relaxing resort for a winter vacation. Foods are acceptable. Most of the staff are working hard to serve and please vacationers and some do not show much enthusiasm about his or her work. The beach is not as convenient as the other resort in the area though. It needs a short walk to get there but it is worth it as it is gorgeous with clear water and plenty of sun. However the hotel is very close to the market.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Friendly staff!

We had stayed at Blau Marina Varadero Resort in February, and enjoyed our experience. The staff of the resort were always friendly and our room was cleaned daily. We had previously read reviews about people not getting clean towels and bedsheets, however we did not encounter this issue. The pool was always clean and the beaches were amazing. The main buffet on the resort was ok. There was sometimes a foul smell when you walked into the dining area, but despite this the food was ok and there was  [... read more]always plenty. We did really enjoy breakfast there as they had an omelets and a crepe station.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful Week!

Highlights included: EXCELLENT food, great staff, lovely set-up, beach bar breakfasts, great drinks, great coffee, very unique and plentiful entertainment, close to Varadero, lots of bottled water, great pool, beautiful beach (who cares about a shelf in the sand???), lobster, scotch selection (!), catamaran trips from the beach for 10 CUCs!
