Hotel Villa Cuba: Just OK

The buildings and grounds needed a lot of work. There should be some kind of restrictions..on smoking. The lobby area was really bad. The shower in the bathroom leaked all over the floor. As far as the maid goes she did not do her job. I paid for a VIP package and we had to ask for everything that was in the package.

this hotel was probably a 4 stars 30 years ago now i would give it a 2 stars at the most, hotel was very neglected,need a lot of maintenance,everywhere you look something was broken,or not working, took 2 day's to switch room,staff was great in general, food just ok,.Will not be my favorite place to return.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Amazing resort is Villa Cuba

SIMPLY AMAZING RESORT PUBLIC AREAS WAS GOOD,ROOMS WAS GOOD,DINING WAS GOOD, SERVICE ,FOOD,BEACHES WAS GOOD . I WILL RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO A FRIEND. WE HAD AMAZING TIME THERE AND WE LIKE TO GO AGAIN THERE.

Roc Barlovento: Good spot

Very typical, an upper end 3 star. Staff were good and made an effort. Off season so they are not going to have big selection with food or entertainment. As usual too much salt in the food for enhancement. They could try spices (if they can afford or access them) to make a healthier bounty. Generally one does not go to Cuba for the food.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Great hotel if you like animals

Second time going to this hotel. We love cats so we loved this hotel. There are many of them running around :) I understand it will annoy some people, so if you don't like animals don't go to this hotel, you won't enjoy it. The beach is the best. We walked on the beach to the Varadero city center, and passed all the hotels along the way, and i can tell you the beach in Villa Cuba is much better, wider, and cleaner than any other hotel on the way. I was drinking 24/7 and always was satisfied with the drinks. Food is ok. Breakfast is great, they make pancakes, omelettes right in front of you. Dinner is not so good, but Supper is great too. Always chicken, and fish available. And always they have ice cream, which is very important when it is hot outside. Great front desk staff, very helpful, also the representative for sunwing was very helpful too. Just overall a great experience.

i love the staff and ppl and its clean they tread me good .the weather amzing i feel good when im there swiming scooba diving lots to do also the serves is good safe place to be good food even nice place for tge kids nice 4 pool

Club Amigo Ancon: Very good budget vacation!

My sister and I (both seniors), spent a very enjoyable week at Club Amigo Ancon at the end of Sept.2014. Our room was really nice, with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. It had an excellent bathroom (full tub, hairdryer etc. and spotlessly clean) with lots of hot water, and good water pressure. We had a mini fridge (fresh bottle of water every day), safe, and a top-notch, digitally controlled air conditioner. Also very comfortable beds. We were in the ''Superior '' building. The beach was [... read more] absolutely gorgeous, and the ocean nice for swimming....no rocks or coral, and a nice gradual slope into the water, which got deep enough to swim within a few feet of the shoreline. Perfect !! Lots of palapas available for shade, although quite a number of the beach loungers were cracked or broken. This resort is VERY accessible for anyone with mobility issues (or mom's with strollers!) ...there are ramps everywhere, and wooden boardwalks leading down to the beach. BUT, strangely,no elevators in the newer (Superior) building, which seems odd (and inconvenient!!) Unfortunately, the pool was completely unuseable for the entire week that we were there. It looked like pea soup, you could not even SEE the bottom!! This was not a big issue for us, as we prefer to swim in the ocean, but must have been very disappointing for people who prefer the pool. And the weather was HOT that week !! I have to say that the food was not the best feature of this resort, although this is possibly because it was low season, and they may have been gearing the food to the many local Cuban families that were staying at that time. The breakfasts were nice (eggs, omelettes, lovely fresh orange juice, fruit etc. etc.) but the food at lunch and dinner (with the exception of some very nice fish) was quite monotonous. We ate mainly at the 24 hr. snack bar, which served quite tasty pizzas, fries, burgers and sandwiches, and just went to the buffet for dessert (very nice ice cream !!). We certainly didn't starve !! It is a very long (3 hour) drive from the airport (Santa Clara), but the scenery is absolutely spectacular, so was quite enjoyable during daylight hours. In the dark, not so much !! We really enjoyed our week at Hotel Ancon....wish we could have stayed longer !!

Hotel Villa Cuba: villa cuba- oh has it changed!

This hotel has changed from 4 years ago, it is a little less value for your money. Although it was not busy and full of people, there were many 1-2 or week stay guests who were local Cubans, so if you spoke English you definitiely felt a minority. weekend time it was busier and buffet hard to get good food. the food in all is the same day in day out. fish, some kind of meat, rarely chicken or hamburgers. only one kind of bread. staff are nice, do tip, it will be appreciated. the ground are great [... read more] and the pool, beach, some rooms well maintained and/or newly renovated. drink selection is excellent. location is excellent to town, to other resorts, to clubs. depends what you like but it has become worse from previous years.

Club Kawama: Disapointed in resort

This was the least liked spot I've been to so far. It is not very appealing to the eyes. Below average resort. The grounds are not well maintained. Buildings need work. Could be a better selection of food. This resort needs some TLC. Pool was nice and beach was just beautiful. Spend a little more for a better resort!

great food and very quick to solve problems when they arrive good bartending going back next year I will book through trip central with friends thank you.i recommend this hotel for travellers to cuba and vicinty

Hotel Villa Cuba: Affordable vacation

Mid September is not the best time to visit Villa Cuba. There were not a lot of tourists and the food brought some problems to all of us. Friendly staff and great shows. We had 4 rainy days out of seven.

Club Kawama: Great time

This was my 6th time to cuba so I'm no stranger there. The beach was beautiful, and so were the people. I don't come for the food as it always leaves something to be desired, but I always found something to eat. I would return to club kawama, but I think I will spend my next visit in havana.

Cant wait to go back. The staff were attentive and seemed very happy to be working. My only complaint was the food. Even though it was very fresh, it was very bland. Bring your own Hot Sauce...lol Room were clean and well looked after. The better you tip the better service you get. But I didn't mind. They sure do love Canadians.

Nacional de Cuba: A once historical Glamor

My recent stay at this hotel brings me back to the once glamor era of the history of this building. The historical tour gave me a background of the site and the history of the hotel helps understand Cuba and its relation with USA. The location of the hotel is great. I can walk everywhere and the view of the sea from the garden backdrop is beautiful. The rooms like most hotel in Cuba, dated. Fo [... read more]und used shampoo bottle left beside the sink and cigarette butt in the toilet bowl sealed saying it is sanitized when we checked in to our room. Brought to the reception attention and no reaction or what so ever. Staff are not well informed of the facilities such as towels are available by the poolside and they told me to bring one from my room. Breakfast was great. Has a great variety but no spoons for your coffee or tea unless you ask for it. Met some lovely staff and that makes our stay comfortable.

Club Kawama: Trip number 5, in November

This resort is better each time I visit, I don't go for the food but it is average, but good for Cuba. Main pool is amazing, and so is the staff. Rooms vary but have never had to change due to a ( bad ) room....this resort is very large, I prefer a room close to the pool, lobby, beach and buffet.

Roc Barlovento: my home away from home

been going to this hotel for many years, 3 or 4 times a year, the personnel is wonderfull if you are polite and of course a peso or two always helps. close to downtown, many restaurants in the area if you want to go out, and now since no children, even better for us oldtimers. the rooms are always clean, the bar, excellent, Josep will make you a Josep special, and its delicious. the pool cleaned every morning, the beach in front of the hotel always cleaned also. at different times of the year, t [... read more]he food may be better than other times, but this is Cuba, not Quebec city or Toronto. they dont always have the ingredients. Club Amigo Ancon: Amazing and relaxing

Pool and beach where top notch. I've been to veradero twice and it is no where near as good. This is a place more for people who want to relax and party with their own friends and family. Veradero is more commercialized and for a younger crowd (16-24)

Hotel Villa Cuba: amazing resort

This hotel was pretty amazing all though the food selection was not as good as some resorts but still alright. Had minor issues with accommodations but very easy to see past it. I recommend this resort to anyone. Great first time experience and will definitely be going there again in the near future

Hotel Villa Cuba: Great people

This hotel is in need of little TLC but the people that work there make up for it. We had a great time. The beach was ubsolutely beautiful. The pool was awesome and the service was incredible. The elevator was a little slow but it was o k. We will defenately go back.

Club Kawama: GREAT priced getaway

Club Kawama was a very central point and we enjoyed the beach and pool and the BAR was super, as were the staff, It is an easy walk to the local flea markets and transportation on the Hop and Go bus. We had a great vacation and will return someday again.
