Playa Pesquero: Suoer resort for Cuba

Food was very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Weather was perfect. People were friendly. Beach was a bit of a walk but worth it once your were there. Pool was large with lots of pool lounges available.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: we werent hhappy

Food was not good qwolity, air condition was not work well, very noisy with no control of temp. Service staff of drinking water did not supply us water every day we had to find them and ask water and one guy said "we give only one battle a day" but it was a family!

Playa Pesquero: Very good

It is alright ,but there is a space for improvement. For example Water is not available in small bottles ,you get only one 1.5 liter in your room for a day?its inconvenience to carry with you all the time. Any other time you need a water you need to to a bar to get it ? Any other resort I have been small bottled water is available everywhere for free.

Playa Pesquero: overall great vacation

grounds were well maintained along with public areas. rooms on the first floor need improvement as water gets in when it rains. the grilling stations in the restaurants were good but i feel that the prepared foods at the buffet need improvement. the a la carte restaurants were amazing. great quality. the lobby was a main attraction. great place to socialize and meet new people. entertainment was always enjoyable. overall this was an excellent resort and very enjoyable trip, and I would definitel [... read more]y go back again!

Playa Pesquero: Great resort

Having traveled to Cuba many times i have found playa pesquero to be one of the larger resorts but very well layed out.Nice spacious rooms and the food was better than most.Entertainment could have been better but overall worth your money.Would go back for sure.

Playa Pesquero: Fantastic staff!

I loved it here. Perfect spot to enjoy Cuba, Holguin . Rooms could be updated but the staff and quality of the food made up for any short comings. The staff are really, really well trained :) completely understand why people return, I will. Great beach, snorkelling on site, huge pool and very relaxed atmosphere.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: The beach is the best, the hotel is ok

Check-in went smoothly but we were put in a room that was in a section of the hotel that was closed. The room had not been used in a while and it had not been freshened up. It smelled bad and the floor was dirty. The bathroom was not very clean and there was cigarette ash on the floor. We asked to be changed immediately but we were told the resort was fully booked and we could only get another room the following day. So we had to stay in that room overnight which was a bit gross. They should hav [... read more]e sent a maid to clean. However, the following day, we got to change to another section of the hotel which was fine. The food was ok, as usual in Cuba. We always managed to find something we liked. One thing I really appreciated at this hotel was that they had entertainment in the lobby every night. I'm not a fan of the big Micheal Jackson impersonating amphitheater style shows so I appreciated the alternative offered here. Also, the pool and beach access were open in the closed section but very few people were using it so we had plenty of chairs, a pool bar and a beach almost to ourselves. I've been to Cuba over ten times and this was my fourth time in Cayo Santa Maria so I can compare and although the beach is fabulous at this resort, it's not the best hotel. But then again, this was the least amount of money we had paid so, we can't complain. You get what you pay for and this hotel is cheaper than the better ones.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Lots of Fun at Husa

My husband and I travelled to Husa in March, along with 12 others, for a wedding. While we had been to Cuba before, we had never been to Cayo Santa Maria. I can not say enough about how stunning the beach and ocean is here. The water was turquoise, the sand was white and felt like walking through flour. The ocean is shallow, you can walk out a fair distance before it gets shoulder level. Even at shoulder level you can still clearly see your feet!! However, the entire resort could use a bit of maintenance. There were some ponds and fountains without water, some areas that could have handled some new paint, and the boardwalk to the beach on the Beach Side needed some repairs. None of this affected our stay though. The food was adequate. More selection would have been great. The buffet was quite large, giving the appearance of lots to choose from, but really was just the same 6-8 items repeated. The fresh prepared food had long lines, sometimes up to an hour before you got to the front to order your food. The a la cartes were delicious. The staff was great. Never had a problem with any of them. Awesome to talk to, fast service, friendly. Our favourites were Rafael at the pool bar and Aing (sp?) at the beach bar. Watch out for the polar bear shots, hahaha! My husband and I like to try and do a couple day trips when we go. Since Cayo Santa Maria is an island about 40mins away from the mainland there isn't a whole lot of excursion selection. This isnt a problem with just Husa, but all the hotels on the island. We did however do the catamaran with dolphin experience and it was awesome! I would totally rcommend it. Definitely well worth the money, and close as it all takes place 10mins from the resort. Overall, we loved the resort, and would definitely return. Experience alone I would have given a 5* rating, however due to the food and a little bit of upkeep to be done I believe a 4* is a bit more accurate.

Playa Pesquero: Playa tremendous

Excellent food, beach area, and all bar areas! Extremely friendly staff, will aid you at any time. Rooms were comfortable. Various nightly shows were very entertaining. An excellent weeks stay. Will be back!

Playa Pesquero: fell in love

this is by far an unbeatable bargain in cuba. You have everything you would need, everything you could want. restaurants, pools, bars, shops, ice cream, bbq, entertainment, beautiful beach, ... what more can be said .... no one can be disappointed coming here ...

Playa Pesquero: Paradise

When we walked into the lobby bar we were quite taken back at the beauty and friendliness of the staff only to continue to be in complete awe over the paradise that awaited us when we were on our way to our room. This was our first time to an island and we felt that we had arrived into paradise. The pool, the gardens, walkways and lights were just a few of what took our breath away. We then located our room wi [... read more]th the friendly help of the staff who shuttled us from the lobby bar to our room. Our room was located near the pool and lobby bar. It was a fantastic location and when we walked in we were pleased to see that the room was beautiful and clean with everything we needed. The room was equipped with two large beds, fridge, separate bathroom and a balcony overlooking the pool. The food was excellent and I did not have any problem finding fresh and tasty items everyday that we were there. The food displays were incredible. We have had other trips since this one, but we often talk of this being the nicest resort we have been too.

Playa Pesquero: disappointed

The first time I went to this resort was in 2006, it left me astounded! I loved it so much that I wanted to go back & brought friends along, I went back in 2014 & was not pleased at all, the food was terrible, birds flew in at the buffet and went right in the food trays to pick food and fly away, I saw tiny bugs in the cheese, all around the sweets etc...I'm sorry, I cannot recommend this what was once a wonderful resort.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing Resort ! One of a kind !

Clean grounds, excellent customer service, quality hotel, excellent food, high class entertainment and...convenient - close to the beach - snorkeling GALORE!. People who are in love with hot dogs, hamburgers and fries may not find this resort the best. Went there on May 2014 with a group of friends

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Do not go there

The resort is good if you are about 60+ years cause there is nothing to do there the beach was amazing and that's it nothing else. The food was terrible I mean we lived on fries and chicken the whole time, the drinks where very good and the food on the beach was good as well but you know t was hot dog hamburgers I mean everybody can make some hot dogs or hamburgers. The little town was splendid had a little something almost every night we where there.

The resort was well laid out with beautiful grounds and lots of activities to do and areas to walk. The staff were very helpful and efficient and the variety of food and venues was excellent. It was a great holiday.

Playa Pesquero: Just ok

This was the 4th time i have been to this resort.I found the food just ok,bacon was terrible,lobster got better as the 2 weeks went on.They ran out of french fries in the 2nd week,which i hear from friends didn't reappear for another week and a half.I found it dirtier than the other times,at least 3 toilet seats missing in mens washrooms,i don't think the swept pool area.The rooms were nice and clean,really counldn't hear the construction next to our room at all.The staff was very hospitable and [... read more] the beach is beautiful.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Awesome beach!

Room: The room was dated, had some mold on the couch cushions, had a leaky bath tub. One night we came home to a leaky ceiling, however, it was fixed quickly (once the staff understood what we were saying to them). The mini fridge was great. If you left a dollar in it everyday it would get restocked with whatever you wanted (leave a note). We upgraded to a ocean view room. The buildings were getting run down. Food: We opted to eat at the buffet everynight. The food choices were good, especially when you went to the grill ( there was something different every night). Try the crepes, they were delicious! Beach: The beach was amazing!! The white sand went out as far as you could touch in the water! The beach was clean (no garbage laying around). One end of the beach was busier than the other. The drink lines were not long at the non busy end. Each morning a gentleman would meet you at the walkway and would sweep your lounger off once you found your spot for the day (huts were limited so get there early). The beach washrooms were not clean and the door did not lock. Entertainment: We only attempted two shows. One was the Michael Jackson which was pretty good. The other was Grease which we left within the first 10 mins. Overall we really enjoyed our vacation. If we wanted to go on another inexpensive vacation we would go back!

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Exellent value and super resort

A very large resort, got good exercise just to walk between restaurants room and beach. One of the best beaches anywhere in the carribean. The food was average, often ran out of primary food and had to serve alternatives, never the less always plenty to choose from. The staff was super friendly and accommodated every wish we had.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great value resort

The staff were very friendly and the pool and beach areas were amazing! The food could have been a bit better, but was not terrible. The rooms were clean, but we found them very dark. One thing we did not like was having to leave the resort to go to the disco. We only went once as a result. Overall had a great time!

Playa Pesquero: would return in a heart beat

nothing about the hotel would i bring up that would be negative , any issues were dealt with in a positive manner.i played a lot tennis . in fact every morning i played , the staff , the tennis pro was excellant . he taught me some tennis pointers .
