Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great resort

We arrived on April 21 for a 7 night stay. We booked the Vip relax section which was well worth the extra. You have a nice large pool a bar and a sit down lunch and breakfast that you order off the menu. The hotel was clean and the staff were very kind and friendly. The main buffet was always the same and there was good shortages there but your in Cuba you have to expect that. The ala carte were great witch we booked a different one every night. The drinks were good they did not have crystal  [... read more]beer which I found very weird but found another beer which was similar. They also were short on different pop as well for mix. This has been our thirty time to Cuba so we no what to expect. If you are considering this hotel I would pay the extra and book the vip well worth it. Hope this hotel helps you while you are looking for a hotel in Cuba.

Barcelo Solymar: Old and run down

The hotel is in need of some major renovations, our room had paint peeling off the ceiling, dressers that wouldn't open, rust or black mold around the tub,maid service that didn't change towels or sheets all week,(had to request towels when we got there and no beach towels while others had them ) elevators out of service, Not impressed.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Good vacation

Nice hotel very friendly staff .hotel is clean and you can always find something to eat Diana the rep for the prestige works very hard to keep everyone happy. She is always moving and working hard.The rep for air transat is also very helpful she is very informative.and easy to talk to.we had a wonderful week.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing Resort

Very clean staff are so sweet they make your stay very very special I recommend this place to anyone who has never been to Cuba and that wants to experience a beautiful place absolutely wonderful people

It was great just like last year very clean and friendly staff. There was double the entertainment this year and some outdoor barbeques. I would go back again. Best hotel in Varadero. There was also plenty of food with no shortage.

Starfish Jibacoa: Starfish Jibacoa

We did not get the rooms we requested but were compromised with different rooms after 2 days. We have been here 5 years ago and the rooms are still the same, quite shabby and dated, big water stains on the ceiling and broken tiles in the bathroom and missing tiles in the floor under the mat beside the bed. The food was the same every day, some days there was no bread, the ice cream was delicious, the wine was not. One day we had lobster! The reason we returned was because of the location and th [... read more]e grounds and the ocean within walking distance of the rooms we had. We had 2 litres of cold water every day! the AC was quiet and worked great. The beds are good. Daily cleaning of the floors and the bathrooms! The beds were made but not changed every day which was fine with us. The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. The bottom line is we would return to Starfish Jibacoa if we would get the rooms we requested at booking time.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Very good and wide open

We've been there already in November /December of last year and now in April 2024 again. Very close to the beautiful beach and constantly renovations. The staff was great and given the overall situation of shortages in Cuba, the food was plenty.

Melia Internacional: Amazing resort

Repeat client last visited April17-24. From the moment we arrived until departure, the staff exceeded expectations. Exceptional customer service, with a commitment to making our stay comfortable. Blau Varadero: Exceptionally Cleaning and Beautiful Beach

We had a fantastic trip to Blau Varadero April 16-23, 2024. The resort was modern but classically designed in the form of a pyramid with glass elevators. Gorgeous but this was irritating at times as there were only 4 elevators for the entire hotel and they were quite small so we often waited or were incredibly crowded. Otherwise a stunning hotel with a gorgeous hanging garden, marble floors, stained glass and walkout pristine white beach. She came our last day to give us a card and goodbye hug. The food was good despite some minimal supply chain and shortages issues. We heard from others on our trip home they had more issues at other resorts. We loved the a la carte International restaurant. Sarah from the hotels PR desk made our reservations as well as booked us a private Cuban Car tour for Havana. Highly recommended. My one criticism was as a non-drinker, the bar staff at the pool bar was polite but perhaps on autopilot and served me rum every time, despite my request repeatedly for “sin alcohol”. After day one we switched to the beach or lobby bar and never had another issue. Highly recommend the Pina Colada blended fresh with nutmeg, with or without rum (according to my Boyfriend it was his favorite too - with double rum!!) Apart from my pool bar experience, alll of the staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Would recommend. The shows and activities were great but the hotel is 18+ with no activities for kids, and the adults that were there tended to more reserved and often middle age or above. Lots of Europeans and Canadians and various language groups. Not really a party resort and too far down the beach to walk out into the Varadero club/bar/restaurant scene if that is what you are looking for. ??

Melia Internacional: Amazing vacation destination

I love Melia Internacional Varadero where I am treated like family as I have been there 10 times with my family members. Last time I was there there with my family was on April 17 for a week. Even though it's only 5 years old and still in good condition, the resort was undergoing major renovations. All the room numbers and direction signs were being replaced with new ones. Over 200 rooms were being renovated. All common areas were being painted. New suntan beds were received for the Level Adults [... read more] section on April 23. The food, the service, the cleanness were all top notch. I would like to offer a big thank you to all the staff and a special thank you to few of them as I am limited in space on this post and cannot name everyone. Thank you Dario for your great personality and amazing management style. I've seen how you operates in quiet times and under pressure and I was impressed. Thank you to all the management team whom I have interacted with daily especially Adriana and Roberto. Gerlad good luck on your new role. Thanks to the chefs and cooks especially Ariel. To all Mosaico staff especially Adriel who is always providing service with a smile. To all the servers at the Blue, Red and Sky bars especially: Yusvani, Suyen, Jessica and Danay. To the room maids especially Celia, Balkis and Marai. Last but not least the Adults Level beach service: Yamil, Yuri, Tomys and Yazel. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: We'll come back!

We really liked the way the resort was set out, with small, two-storey buildings in well maintained grounds. Lots of flowering shrubs and trees. Our room was lovely and clean, and the housekeepers made sure that we had everything we wanted. The pool was great, the beach was sandy and fabulous. Lounge chairs were in demand, however. The staff are friendly and helpful, and made our visit really enjoyable.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Fantastic resort

Rooms were clean had clean towels. Food was doable had lots didn't run out of anything. The staff were great, very helpful, and polite. Check in was a bit of a fuss but nothing worth complaining about. Grounds were clean well kept. Beach was well kept pools were clean.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Disgusting health hazard

This place is a real health hazard. Shortages, cockroaches, dirty rooms, bad service. One piece of advice is stay away. Got sick 2 days into the trip, with severe diarrhea and vomiting. No fresh towels, used the same ones throughout the whole trip for showering and for the beach. STAY AWAY.

Grand Memories Varadero: Nice Resort!!

This was a nice resort. It was bigger than we were used to. There’s two pools, one quiet and one filled with more excitement. Both of them have swim up, which was nice to choose where you wanted to go during the day. The food was ok. Cuba is going through a hard time right now, so I took that in consideration. Always something to eat just might not have been as fancy as we like. Everything was clean. We always saw maids cleaning the hallways in the bathrooms. On that note public bathrooms somet [... read more]imes had no toilet paper or no toilet seats. You learn to deal with it. The one downfall was that they were tons of mosquitoes in the lobby in the Cuban bar and on the beach. So bring bug spray, we upgraded to the diamond club and thought it was worth it. We had our own little breakfast and lunch restaurant that they served you and it was fast no lineups. Got a nice ocean view room, but it is furthest from everything we had one specialty dinner that serve lobster, chicken And smoked salmon salad.

Blau Varadero: Beautiful

Amazingly friendly staff. Great experience. Expected shortages but didn’t notice any really except alcohol selection but there was always something. Room was great. Great entertainment and really gets the crowd involved. Would recommend!

Starfish Varadero: Starfish

The bungalow accommodation was excellent. Lots of room in the bedroom(3 beds) and the living room was great. The walk in shower was a great bonus. There were 2 patios with chairs on each. The pool and a bar with a canteen was nearby. The buffet was on the 3rd floor of the hotel with eating space both inside and out. The elevator was not in use and the stairs made it a lot of work to get up there. The food was repetitive but there was certainly enough considering there were shortages. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Awesome Trip and stay

My family and I had a great time at the resort. The rooms are great and the food is edible, we were told to bring salt and pepper and hot sauce to spice things up. We don't have any complaints about Occidental Arenas Blanca. People are awesome the beach is to die for. Varadero is safe outside the resort. We did some great tours to Havana and Matanzas Yumuri tour, the guides were awesome. Do some snorkelling, It'sAwesome. Buy some Cuban rum and cigars. We will definitely go back to Cuba

Playa Vista Azul: Second Time

I absolutely love staying here. Staff are so friendly and accommodating and really help make the trip feel special. Yuri is amazingly kind and always checked to see how hd could make our stay better. Our room attendant Maricella was so sweet. The bartenders Carlos, Livia and Jimmy are fantastic. Everything was well maintained and the pool in the premium area is my favourite.
