The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Great place to relax!

The resort was great, worthwhile going over to Bacardi Island, absolutely beautiful! If you take a water taxi from the scuba shack on the beach be prepared to get wet, really wet! Alex on the animation crew is a lot of fun! Make sure you check out the pools at the garden rooms, it is open to everyone at the resort, not many people seem to know this because the gate has security guard at it, they think it is not part of the resort.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Very clean and relaxing

Beach was very nice but windy in the afternoon, had to move to the pool area. Food was excellent, plenty of selection. Staff was happy and friendly but English speaking staff was difficult to find. Did not like the fact that you had to pay for safety box.

Grounds kept nice, hotel clean, but we had cockroaches in our room, we expected robes and slippers and a bottle of rum did not get any, television stations were more in Spanish and we had to pay for safe have never had to do this before, and no room service, only for Privilege we were told, would not go back to this resort but would maybe try another one on the same island. As well when talking to other people they did not pay as much as we did, if you want a beach is not a good one for this not [... read more] for walking anyway, punta cana better for beaches there, and would have liked more restaurants. We made reservations for one of the restaurants and we got locked out of our room, we had to call for service and my family went on to restaurant and we told them we would follow, apparently the people told them if we were not there in ten mins we would be locked out, did not appreciate this when it was not even our fault, sorry but was not really happy about this place, next time I will go back to adults only, when you work very hard all year and to be disappointed with it, and as well no internet, one hour a day by the time you got signed in was not much, have never had this before as well.

rooms were ok, had cockroaches everynight in our room, got a electric shock from a light that but a burn on my thumb, went to a fine dinner people we were with key would not work in room had to wait for maintance to come, got to resturant told us if they were not there in 10 mins they would not be allowed in and would not serve us drink, internet was not good, staff at pool and shows were awsome, we were not allowed to get room service, and we were told a bathrobe, slippers and free rum would be [... read more] in our room never got that.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Tropical Paradise

The beach is great for swimming, snorkeling and walking. Sand is not pure white but it's very soft. Love that it's the only resort on the beach. Both pools are nice. They definitely need more palapas on the beach. If you didn't get to the beach by 6:15 am, you likely couldn't get one. Some guests appeared to leave towels on several palapas overnight on the last few days of our stay. The quality of food & drinks in buffets & restaurants was good. Drink service in the main buffet was too slow; o [... read more]ften only got drinks at the end of the meal & not any water. The beach bar was very busy with only one bartender working & we found it quicker to walk to the main lobby bar. The new outdoor seating areas are great. The lobby bar needs more air conditioning/air circulation. Better if Wifi would work in outdoor seating area by lobby. Staff work very hard to clean at all times & keep seaweed off the beach which we really appreciated. Staff are friendly & helpful. The layout & size of this resort is great. It is very easy to get around in a short time. We have stayed at several all inclusives in Cuba, Mexico & Punta Cana & this was our favourite & only one we have returned to. We have recommended this resort to others & will continue to do so. Check in at the airport in both Halifax and Samana was efficient. The only issue we had was that because we booked with Sunquest and travelled with Air Canada, Air Canada charged us $25 per bag for checked luggage. We should have been clearly advised of this by Trip Central when we booked. One of our fellow travellers called Trip Central before we left & the rep wasn't sure if we had to pay that fee. Someone asked out Sunquest rep before we left Samana & he told him we didn't have to pay anything at the airport. Trip Central & Sunquest need to be up front & clear about these extra costs when a trip is booked. This added $100 to the cost of our trip.

,Like I said, this place is worthwhile returning.The time flew by. The view exceptional. Shuttles for the mobile challengedThe service exceptional and the staff very polite. The place was exceptionally clean. Samana itself has a lot to see.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful beach resort

Lovely resort, staff try to do everything in their power to make your vacation memorable. Food at the buffet is typical resort selection, but tasty no one ever went hungry. The beach is beautiful and long with lots of opportunity for walking. Vendors are on the beach, but respect a kind no thank you.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Absolute Paradise, Best Vacation Ever!

Grand Bahia Principe Samana was absolute paradise, it was a beautiful resort, very clean and well taken care of. The beach was small but there was a catamaran tour that took you to a white sand beach for the day and it was totally worth it. The best place to be all day was the pool as there were activities scheduled and the staff were absolutely fantastic and there to entertain you. Wyndham Alltra Samana: Ok family vacation

The resort is ok. The staff don't really try to please the guests. Food was ok, my husband and son did get food posioning, glad I had meds on me. Not much variety in food for kids. Kids ate pasta and hot dogs for two weeks. They run out of food and usually don't have more like yogurt and fruits. The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Beautiful View

First time to Samana and the views were very beautiful from hotel over looking the ocean. The resort is on a cliff so you need to take elevator to beach... Beach was not that big and like most other resorts, had to get there early to 'reserve' chairs. Food at buffett was not always the hottest, but you could always find something good to eat. We only went to one of the 3 restaurants...La Orquidea and it was very good...we were surprised at how good the beef was. We were surprised at some of the staff not speaking english, considering that many people that travel there are from Canada or US. Really was not a problem and actually had some fun conversing. Not sure if we would go back, not because of the staff or food, and even though the views are amazing, the beach just didn't cut it for us.

I love the size of the El Portello and add the great service of the staff makes an amazing resort to enjoy a relaxing vacation. I love the idea of this resort being the only one the beach - makes it feel like you are on a secluded island.

The hotel was wonderful, the rooms were extremely clean!!The grounds were beautiful, the staff were friendly and a lot of fun!!!!!!!!The food was awesome. Our group will definitely be returning!!!!!!!

Good resort, beautiful grounds, clean rooms, good service. Small and nice beach area. Pretty decent food. Italian and sea food restaurants are great. In general , resort is very nice and ratio price- quality is reasonable.

Rooms were great, very clean, dining area was very clean, food was amazing, pools were clean and great, bars were very well maintained..overall PERFECT..The staff were great..and very friendly...we have been to many resorts, and we really enjoyed this one...very low key, relaxed time

This was absolutely amazing from the time we arrived til we left. Food people and guests were all happy and very pleasant. Entertainment was good and the resort was beautiful.we would go back again.!the entertainers were fantastic. We did two excursions and the dominican is a beautiful place. Mountains everywhere. Scenery is beautiful

The hotel was clean, friendly easy to get around. The food was exceptional always something new to try. Staff were all friendly. Entertainment Group was the best group ever, they kept everyone laughing and having a great time. We would go back to that resort in a heart beat and are looking at when we can go back : )

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: This place is a gem - a week of pure bliss for our

We spent a week at GBP El Portillo from April 2 to 9 and the entire group absolutely loved it. The beach is stunning and the water is very calm due to natural reef about 0.5km off shore. We stayed at GBP Akumal in Riviera Maya last year April and I personally preferred the smaller El Portillo over that massive complex. Yes, the amenities at El Portillo are not as great, but the location and feel of the resort in Samana are some much better. I felt much more relaxed in Samana versus Mexico. The c [... read more]limate is more tropical and humid whereas Riviera Maya was very hot and dry in April. I love the regular daily rainfall. The 3.5 hour flight and only 40 minutes by bus to the resort were a big plus as well. As for the resort itself, it is perfect for families and groups with young children. The resort is classy and it is pretty much quiet and closed (except for the discotheque) by 11pm. Those who choose to stay up late have the disco in the Puebla or many options in nearby Las Terrenas. The pools were small but very nice and not very crowded because the beach and ocean were so great. As with others, my biggest beef was the fact that all the palapas and lounge chairs at the beach and the pools were reserved by 6:30am. The culprits were mostly a certain European nationality who speak a very stern and harsh language. In the end, most other people just end up joining in the game if you can't beat them, join them! The buffet restaurant was phenomenal and the a la carte restaurants were pretty good as well. I loved the Brazilian Rodicio Grill. The seafood one was pretty good as well. The resort facilities were immaculate and very clean and well maintained. The staff were great and I preferred the Dominican culture and friendliness over that of Mexico. Mexico was nice, DR was nicer. At the front desk Alex was always amazing and very helpful. The Dominican people have the greatest smiles and that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. As for the bar, I really liked Welington at the beach bar. He was the friendliest and most efficient of the bar staff. That said, I like most of the staff at El Portillo. They were mostly hard-working, friendly and many seemed to be having fun. We definitely plan to go back some time soon. We stayed in Block 25. The location was great and the rooms were very nice and well maintained. We all loved it and plan to go back there within the next few years.

As a family of four, we thoroughly enjoyed this resort. We loved that it wasn't so huge we couldn't find each other when needed. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and professional. The beach is absolutely beautiful, the water calm with perfect snorkeling for beginners like us. This is our first time at an all-inclusive but we thought the food was exceptionally good, lots of fresh local fruit, and delicious international dishes to choose from. The disco doesn't open until 11 pm (not great for parents who may want to do a bit of dancing before their kids pass out!) and the shows that started at 9:30 pm were below cruise-ship level entertainment. Other than that, no complaints!

Rooms were a bit dated, AC worked poorly, food was average. Beach was beautiful but the battle for chairs was a pain as there were not near enough for the patrons.120 more arrived the night before we left. the nightly entertainment was great also.

This all inclusive is the best.. I've been to 45 to 50. My room was immaculate.. The beach was wonderful and the staff are great. Second time and not the last. A wonderful quiet piece of heaven. Can't wait to go back.
