Brisas Guardalavaca: Resort full of Cubans

The resort staff trying their best. Unfortunately, there is not much to offer. The rooms are OK. The food is fair. The only problem there are many Cubans and they trying to get all the food they can. They cut in line and disrespect other people. Cuba is the place we go for beaches. Not this time. We were ther last year in March and came back cause we liked it. Now it was terrible. Locals occupied the beach taking over beach beds and shades. There are so many of them that there were no place t [... read more]o swim. The water is full of beer cans, glass and plastic rum bottles, mango peel, and mango seeds. There are millions of locals and no washrooms beside, so guess what??? They would do number two right in the water. Here.....it floats!!! We talked to managers, but they told us that beaches in Cuba are public and everyone is allowed. That was the first time we couldn't wait to leave, and we've been in Cuba 40+ times.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Cuban resort

We went to the resort in August. It is full of Cubans. They are very loud and sometimes disrespectful. In the buffet they grab a lot of food and stack it into their bags. However, this is a least of a problem. All the beaches in Cuba are public, so...the resort allows locals on the beach. They take it over!!! It becomes loude, busy and very dirty. The amount of beer cans in the water and on the beach is awful. They eat mangoes in the water ans spit it . It was disgusting to step on it in the wa [... read more]ter. And cherry on top was when the poop was floating, few times. Conversations with hotel management did not help. They said that locals were not allowed to sit on the beach beds, but in the evening they occupied all of them. They come with canisters of beer, soups, and so on. I understand everybody needs a beach, but please don't make it a dumpster.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Amazing resort and very friendly staff!!

The place is amazing and they have plenty of food, not like some other resort that we have been to cuba. Place is really clean, staff are very friendly specially our butlers Yosbel & Raciel. They took care our Dinner bookings for our groups every single nights. Definitely will be return back to this place Guaranteed!! 5 Stars!!!

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Grand Aston Varadero

My stay at the Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort was very disappointing. From the moment I entered the room, the poor ventilation was apparent. The moisture was trapped inside, making the towels and bed feel damp, and even the floor was slick with water. The room itself had a musty smell, which made it difficult to relax. The bathroom was in need of serious attention. The floor was dirty, with visible mildew on the shower tiles. To make matters worse, the bathroom floor had a strong , unplea [... read more]sant smell of urine that lingered throughout our stay. The food was a major letdown. It lacked flavour and everything had a rubbery texture , making meals feel more like a chore than an enjoyable part of the day. Even the gazebo bed covering was not spared, as it had visible mildew stains on it. I decided to go for a dip in the ocean and discovered rocks beneath my feet that was not pleasant to walk on. This was a huge letdown for a beachside resort. On the plus side, the pool was quite nice and provided a decent spot to relax. Overall, the experience was far from what I expected, and I would not recommend this hotel to others.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Family Vacation

The beaches, the service from the concierges and others, and the views are amazing. The Cuban people are awesome! When you get a chance to meet the locals, take it. They are incredibly friendly, resilient and resourceful. Be prepared to travel off the resort for incredible dining opportunities!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good Resort

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Bumpy Ride but Beautiful Beach

There were a lot of issues with our booking through Trip Central. Our Sunwing package was cancelled three days before our departure (per the resort) and we were forced to rebook at another resort. At first, our second resort option was accepted by Trip Central and Sunwing, then we later found out it was no longer available. So we had to go with our third option. We received no compensation for any of this inconvenience (in fact, I had to pay more money for the new booking). Communication with Tr [... read more]ip Central basically dropped out once they made the new booking and we were left dangling without paperwork until mere hours before our flight. In the end, we really enjoyed the Grand Aston. But I can't recommend booking a Sunwing package through Trip Central. You're better off booking directly with Sunwing. They are more accessible in terms of communication, and more likely to compensate in situations like these (upgrade to an available luxury hotel, vouchers for future tips, partial refunds, etc.).

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Highly Recommended, Beautiful Resort and even more Beautiful People!

Great rooms, excellent food, amazing service. Beautiful beach with lots of available cabanas and chairs. Sand is immaculate, service is truly spectacular. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a romantic getaway as this is an adults only resort.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Nice Resort

All was good but the food and no hot water for 2 days. Beach was excellent and staff were excellent. The food was very respective, with not much for vegetarian. We had to change room due to the hot water issue, but was given ocean view which made up for the hot water issue.

Sol Palmeras: Very good and friendly resort

I loved my stay at this resort, my children lilked it a lot. The picky eater in the family didn't think there was much to eat, but I ate to my satisfaction every meal. BEach is beatiful, bungalows were very clean. Some bungalows are in the far back and you will HAVE to walk to go eat. They don't provide shuttle transportation except for the suitcases on the first and last days. We were in the number 535 and 534 bungalows and we asked to be moved closer which we were the last two days. I  [... read more]recommand you feel at ease with the travel agent you are assigned. At first, I wasn't feeling comfortable with mine and I didn't listen to my gut reaction and regret it. I lost time and energy undoing some mistakes that were made by her and communication was not good. I should have changed when it was time, I should have insisted that I wanted a different travel agent. And please, be aware that if you travel to Cuba, you won't be able to do check-in on the app for the flight back to Canada. I was never told and lost time and energy trying to figure out why the app didn't work... Thinking it was my fault.

Resonance Musique Varadero: So Much Fun! Some Electricity Issues

3rd time to this resort! Went in August / off season this time so a bit quieter and some activities didn't happen (foam pool party) but still had a fantastic time! For food, it's still Cuba but getting better since the past few years. Some power outages on the resort as expected BUT do NOT let them put you on the 3rd floor of building 33...the one half apparently is known to have power outages several time a day (which means no AC!). Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe Beach Resort (Aug 2–9)

The Positives: The beach was nothing short of spectacular—soft white sand and warm, aqua-blue water that felt like bath water every time we stepped in. It quickly became our favorite spot to unwind. Room for Improvement: We experienced some issues in our room—the water pressure in our room was low. It took a long time to wash my hair lol. Other than that it was good. A notable downside was the number of mosquitoes—bring your best bug spray or repellent, and maybe an extra can! Bottom Line: Memories Caribe is a charming choice for couples seeking a romantic, laid-back escape. With its gorgeous beach, friendly staff, and lively entertainment, it’s a great value—just come prepared with bug spray.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing resort! Great value for the money!

The beaches are absolutely AMAZING! The resort is not new but has a certain colonial charm to it and given the circumstances the staff is doing their best to keep it in good shape. People are very friendly and willing to help. We had a very pleasant experience. There is a large variety of good foods. And drinks as much as one might dream of. And there is ice available all over the place. If you're looking for a top notch 5+ stars experience you should find another resort (and possibly pay doub [... read more]le or more), as this might not be for you. But if you're not too picky and looking for a really nice quiet place to relax and have a great vacation with stunning beaches and great people around you, this is a great resort to go to.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Good resort for Cuba

Beach 5 star (one of the best I have seen). No sargassum. Staff 5 star (polite and out beat) Room 4 star (need some maintenance, we experience no water for 6 hours one day and 1 hour next with little explanation from management. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Clean, Comfortable, lovely resort

The resort is well maintained with great staff who are very helpful. Food was good, limited variety but always a few choices and well prepared. It was low season so some bars and restaurants were not open. The pools were nice , we stayed on the Adult side and for the most part was quiet. It would have been nice to have had a bit more music and entertainment but with fuel shortages…

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Definately not a 4.5 star. More like a 3 star!

This hotel has seen its hay day back 25 years ago. Chexk in: Check-in was unorganized and they gave us the wrong room and bracelets. (We paid for the VIP adults-only section and they did not give us that). We had to bring it up to them and that's when they looked us up on the computer again and noted we had the wrong room and bracelets. Staff and meals: The stay itself wasn't that bad. The staff was amazing Enrique, Dyron were the best (apart from the front reception staff) The a [... read more] la carte restaurants were pretty yummy. The buffet was boring and the food was very repetitive (to be expected in cuba). On the weekend when the locals checked in, the buffet was definately over capacity. they ran out of alot of things so if u dont eat at regular dinner time 6-7 (busiest time at the buffet) you may not get much to eat. Snack bar was non existent. We went looking for it ine one night and we were told it was the buffet after it closed, then when we went looking for it on the weekend it was the beach bar. Not sure why it changed. Maybe more people allowed them to open the actual snack bar? Biggest Minus: The main problem is that there is no security in sight. So ADULT ONLY SECTION WAS NOT ADULT ONLY. Almost every day we had kids in the VIP area swimming in our pools (sans diaper) or in our dedicated adults only restaurant. The employees tried to get then to leave but without security to enforce it, it was a lost cause. Our rooms Our rooms were pretty spacious, but completely outdated. The room was very clean when we checked in. looked like noone had slept in that room for a while. Our pillow had mold on it when we checked in, asked for a new one right away (got it next day) The resort its self had an abandoned hotel feel to it. Like they are just waiting for everything to crumble around them. Our room keys had issues all week, I literally spent more time at the reception fixing my keys than enjoying too much else. Pools: Main pool was pretty nasty (dirty) but I spent more time at the adult only pool so it didn't bother me. It was cleaner but not sure for how much longer. Unfortunately many parents had the same idea, which was very disappointing given i paid extra for adults only section. Beach: nothing like the beaches in Cuba. Very pretty an a++. Entertainment was primarily on this beach throughout the day. They are renovating so the sitting area is a bit small which wasn't a problem until the weekend when Cubans checked in. The hotel seemed very full to above capacity. Overall: Hotel is i would say in my opinion a 3 star not a 4.5. Not sure how long ago Trip central reviewed it but maybe they should go back and look again. I will never go back to this hotel again except to say hello to all the great friends we made there. I have been to.cuba many, many times and this one was the worst I have ever experienced.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Lovely resort

I spent five wonderful days here. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. By the second day, the wait staff anticipated my drink of choice. Everything is very well-maintained and very clean. I loved swimming in the three different pools. My only complaint would be that the map you were given isn’t really helpful and the resort isn’t well sign posted. I needed to watch a YouTube video to find the path to the beach.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Calm place for the rest

In the beginning of August Paradisus rio de oro resort was so quite and we didn't have problem with sunbeds at the beach, food &drinks at the restaurants and bars. Snorkeling was amazing, ocean was warm and clear. We used several times kayaks, catamarans and other seaboats. Tips are always welcome)

The grounds are beautiful. There was a drought so the fountain features were not working and very dry landscape unfortunately. The hotel rooms were very clean. I did have a pack of hair ties taken from our room, so I would suggest locking or putting valuables and small items away. The water was shut off 3 days out of the week for 2 hours in the afternoons. We were told that was sue to the drought situation. The food was great! The buffet could use ceiling fans though. It was so hot and both [... read more] staff and guest were sweating. It was very uncomfortable to say the least. Due to the gasoline shortage, the resort ran out of popular soft drink our second day there and had still not been replenished upon our departure. We booked an ocean view room, but it was not very nice at all. There were many trees before the ocean was nicely visible. The main beach was more than a 10 minute walk from our room and the shuttles were not running regularly due to battery issues. There were really not enough shuttles for that size of a resort. We had no body wash in our shower and never refilled. The staff was amazing and very friendly. They tried their best to work though any issues. The entertainment was ok. Not much entertainment during the days at all. I did not find the entertainment team very engaging with the guests at all. The Mediterranean and Japanese A La Carte venues were fantastic, but there needs to be more emphasis during the ride from the airport to hotel to pre-book them as soon as possible. They book out very quickly. The tours we booked were great. City and Sunset Catamaran. The cost into the city at $25 pp was a bit much. I gauge it at no more the $15-18pp would be a better deal. We were unable to check into our return flight on the WestJet app or Sunwing web page, but the check in at the Holguin airport was very fast and easy. The resort was clean, and very well maintained. We did have a lovely time regardless of any small inconveniences. I would rate it a 4 star property at most.

Great entertainment, food and drink selections. Just no beach towels available for the whole week. Other than that, it was a great experience overall. Staff were very friendly and always greeted us wth a smile.
