Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: good hotel, service was good

Veradero is a good place, enjoyed the trip to Havana. Lots to do but just wanted to relax and had no trouble accomplishing that. Beach is very good also. Learned a lot about Cuba, which was one of our major goals.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Excellent Resorts for Families

People are friendly, and the service is good. Our building is not that noisy compared with others. Many senior people stayed there. Although the building is a bit outdated, the rooms are clean. If you miss anything in the room, tell the reception and they will bring them up pretty quickly.

Villa Tortuga: Great Experience at Villa Tortuga

This trip was the first experience for my girlfriend and I in Cuba and we absolutely loved it. As soon as we arrived in the resort, we were taken aback by how nice the lobby looked, and how friendly the staff was to help everyone who was arriving around 11:30 at night. The layout of the buildings and rooms was very cool, and gave the resort a really tropical feel. The facilities were also very clean. The beach was great, and the water was absolutely amazing, in both the ocean and the pool. Our only complaint about the entire trip would have been that the food wasn't the greatest, but it truly didn't have any big impact on our trip, as we had a fantastic experience at Villa Tortuga.

Starfish Jibacoa: A Very Peaceful and Relaxing Resort

The grounds were very clean. Sidewalks were in a little need of repair. All of the staff were wonderful and happy and helpful. Beaches were clean except for the jelly fish which no one could help. Food so good and healthy and drinks wonderful and all served with a smile. Rooms were kept very clean and any complaints dealt with on the spot. Great Holdiay

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Property Great Beach

Great rooms - maximum of 3 levels. Quiet, well maintained, attentative staff. Easy exchange of currency at front desk. Wi-Fi accessible in several locations and reasonably priced (2 CUC per hour). Great evening entertainment every night. Diamond club worth extra cost. Food was not the best, although good variety at buffet and in a-la-carte restaurants.

Paradisus Varadero: Luxurious hotel

The food was great. Entertainment was perfect. Staff were very friendly. The rooms were old and in bad shape but we were too busy to think about it. The rooms need painting, the closets were broken, no door to the shawers . Room service and cleaning was good. Mini bar was filled daily

Punta Peninsula Varadero: 4stars after renovations

food was good,tasty. close to beach, quiet. staff very friendly. spa was nice. nice landscape and views! only problem was no beach towels 2 days, b c main laundry wash machine was broken. place need update! renovations! nice shows evry night! for a budget traveler is ok. no luxury! was10 years ago… overal was nice.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Nice resort,

The resort was clean, the staff were great. Be sure to bring extra towels as they were always short of beach towels and room towels. The fruit was out of season and was not very good. Miles of beach to walk. Overall very nice place to stay.

Starfish Jibacoa: Not Impressed

If it hadn't been for some nice weather this trip would have been a bust. Lousy( and I mean lousy) food.Shabby rooms with non functioning toilets, chipped tiles and tired looking staff. The beach is short so if you like LONG walks on the beach this is not the place for you. There are only 2 hotels in Jibicoa ours and Memories and the difference is day and night.I would also like to note that Memories is more expensive as well. We knew it was a long bus ride from the airport but is was close to a [... read more]n hour and a half. I have been to Cuba on a budget for more than 14 years and this hotel was the worst and we are pretty easy going.

Playa Caleta: Very nice for being one of the oldest resorts in V

Well worth it for being one of the oldest resorts in Veradaro. Has a tremendously welcoming staff and the resort was well maintained. The service was great and our room was cleaned daily. The food was good to excellent depending how fussy you are.

Starfish Jibacoa: A pleasant resort

The grounds are lovely, with the bungalos spread out over a wide area of palm trees, grass and other shrubbery. My room was large and had a king-sized bed - very good!There is a small playground for children with swings and a slide. The food is a bit boring, although there was rabbit in a nice white sauce one day and delicious beef tongue on another. Salad fixing are inadequate, and the vegetables are too few, but there was always something enjoyable to eat. The al a carte restaurant should be a [... read more]voided - portions are too small and the choices too few. Food at the pool sometimes ran out, and the toilets there sometimes would not flush, but they did get fixed eventually.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories

The resort needs a overhaul on Management. Rooms need upgrading, we found resort is to large of an area to maintain. Supplies would run out frequently. Once the US start to vacation there I hope it brings better food and accommodations. I kept saying if I had enough money to buy a resort I would make a ton of money based on service alone.

Paradisus Varadero: Great vacation :-)

The Paradisus resort is located on the best, beautiful sand beach and turquoise water in Varadero. It is directly on the beach - others along the peninsula are set further back & accessible only by footpath. A great getaway!!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Needs some TLC

Food was good. Spanish AL a Cart was bad.. Food cold and not what we ordered from menu service very slow. Pool nice for kids. Grounds beautiful. Beds horrible. Sheets never chanced and had 2 single sheets on a king size bed. Public washrooms were dirty. Usually no toilet paper.

Hotel Bella Costa: Wonderful!

We just spent 10 days at Hotel Bella Costa. Food was plentiful, lots to choose from. Beach absolutely amazing. Rooms are older, the only complaint would be the bedding used. Queen size sheets on King Bed. New comforters should be purchased as well. Met many wonderful people who are repeat customers and hopefully this will be the case with us in the upcoming year.

Hotel Los Cactus: Okay resort

We just got back from Breezes. It is an older resort and rather tired rooms but they are kept very clean. The people are extremely friendly and very eager to help in any way. The food was very, very bland and I found a hard time finding something to eat that I liked except for breakfast which was very good. The other meals in the buffet were very, very unappetizing. I realize this is a very poor country but thought I would be able to find something to fill up on. I was hungry a good deal of the time. A word of caution when changing money at the front desk. Make sure you double check your money before you leave as we heard several stories of people being overcharged. One couple changed $200.00 twice and received only $100.00 pesos back. That is a charge of $100.00 for exchange. I also changed $155.00 and only received 78 pesos. The math doesn't add up and it is a total ripoff with no recourse.They will never tell you the exchange rate, only what they will give you. I have nothing good to say about our Air Transat rep there. She wasn't there half the time and when she was, she was only there to push tours and excursions on us.Not helpful at all!!! I would not go back...at least not in the next few years. Maybe if the Americans get there, things will greatly improve.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Disappointed

Resort needs work, unable to get clean beach towels for 4 days there were none avaiable. As well had to hunt down maid and front desk for clean towels for the room. There was no soap, toiletpaper or paper towels in any of the publuc washrooms all week. Had to carry a roll of toilet paper and purell around with us! Food was OK don't waste you time going to restaurants buffet had better selection and we are not a buffet family. Beach was good, pool had empty cups and cigarette butts around the edge of pool. Staff were not friendly. Been to Cuba twice knew what to expected but this place needs help!

Grand Memories Varadero: resort was nice

went with a group of 4. Pools where nice and clean, bedrooms were good for 4 star. Food was bland but we brought our own spices. Grounds we nice. Gym was too small and 2 machines were not working and should be removed. Snack bar workers were always very rude to everyone no just us. Pool bar workers were very efficient and cordial. Lounge bar excellent drinks and service but expected to be tiped. Coffee area was excellent. Did not wait long to register. 6:30 sungwing flight that we paid extra to  [... read more]leave was delayed till 4 hence missing one full day so out of pocket 200 bucks. Why book an extra plane if ther are not enough sold tickets? No impressed. People we have have paid 1050 and booked one month ago. We paid 1260 plus missed one day. Likely will book on our own next time. Tripcentral agent was good.

Starfish Varadero: Amazing resort

Garden and common areas are cleaned. Food is very good and big variety. Beach and view is magnificent. Staff is very polite and kind. I was there first time and happy to visit this resort again. Variety of tours available for a reasonable price.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Never again!!!

Firstly, I have been to Melia resorts in the past and absolutely loved them. This is NOT one of those resorts. This is the old Trypp resort and is very tired. Needs a lot of work. Our room smelt very musty and was more like a 2.5 star. Very small pool. The employees only speak Spanish and French, no English very hard to communicate. Cockroaches at the buffet, ate at the a la cartes, not too bad. The staff are not helpful very lazy and do not look crisp and professional. There were many guests that did not have towels for days, hard to get beach towels, the beach chairs are covered in mold, gross!
