Excellence Punta Cana: Best resort in Punta Cana

Amazing food and Drink. No reservations for meals, premium drinks! Excellent house red Gatonegro! Entertainment shows on the evening were entertaining, those that won different games throughout the day were awarded prizes.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: very nice resort

Nice beach, food is good especially at the French restaurant and the Capri restaurant. The resort is very clean and beautiful. the menu on the buffet could be varied more often. Our room was properly maintained.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Excellent vacation!

Almost perfect. Enjoyed every minute. We can't say enough about the food, beach, staff, accommodations and entertainment. No complaints about anything, only that one week is too short. Can't wait to return next year.

IFA Bavaro Village: This resort was only "Ok".

As we arrived at the resort - we found out that our luggage was rummaged through (my husband and myself) and theft happened to the tune of approx. $125.00. This happened at the airport (either Halifax or Punta Cana) - but it set the mood upon arrival. RESORT / HOTEL ROOM – This resort is no longer a 4 star resort. 3 would be the max rating! The rooms were substandard (mold - particularly in shower and toilet area & also light fixture hanging) The front desk staff were less than friendly. We r [... read more]equested a king size bed as we booked our reservation. We asked for it upon arrival and they said “maybe tomorrow” – we discovered the staff at the resort (in general) say “maybe tomorrow”. Night one in the room – up with anxiety issues (because of the theft) and saw a cockroach and it scurried out of sight. More upset. Next morning my husband saw another cockroach. We were able to kill this one. Back to the front desk and asked to be moved. Was told come back at 4pm. Did that and was told “Your room has been fumigated – you are not moving” I was upset to say the least – and after much hassle – involving front desk staff, bell men… and finally the manager – we were moved to a king room. This room was in better shape, with less mold issue. RESORT – General comments about the resort would include: (a) It appears old. Broken chairs in the outside bars, torn cushion covers in the lobby, broken beach loungers, could use paint. (b) just about impossible to get a lounger near the pool. Despite signs saying no reservations – towels were put out by 6:30/7:00 in the morning and there all day – lots of hours no bodies in those chairs. We did not get a lounger at that main pool the entire week. (c) Could name a handful of nice, friendly staff. For the most part, staff seemed unhappy, unfriendly. (d) Sales persons – it would not be exaggerating to say that we were approach up to (8 – 10) times a day to book an excursion of some sort or a massage. There were approx 3 different companies that had Reps all over the resort pushing their company trips. (e) told to get change (American $1.00) at front desk to tips for staff – This proved to be difficult as they rarely had change, come back later. (f) the pictures on line for some of the areas at the resort are not currently accurate. They were taken it better days. One pool in the pictures is now a cemented seating area outside of the theatre. (g) there is an all night bar (with snacks) center of a bunch of rooms...and the main concert stage was center of several more buildings that had rooms. Not a great layout...considering the hour things went on. Positives: (a) some friendly staff (b) food was decent (c) all 6 of us enjoyed nice couples massages (d) sun (e) beach was an easier place to get loungers (f) 2nd pool / known as quiet pool – seemed to have better turn over and ability to get a lounger (not for everyone in our group at once, but we could share). We thought that the price paid ($2800 - $3000) was not what we consider to be a cheap vacation - and it did not meet the 4 star rating, not even close!

Punta Cana Princess: Great Resort!!!

Loved the resort. Was small and quaint. Rooms were beautiful. Grounds were well kept. Food at all restaurants was great. Entertainment staff worked hard all day mingling with the guests. Will definitely return.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing

My wife and I were overwhelmed by the welcoming, courtesy, friendliness of the staff at Bahia Principe Club. Accomodation , restaurant variety, activities and entertainment was more than what we anticipated . Every employee went over and above their call of duty.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Great Family Resort

Beautiful family resort with lots to do. The grounds were well maintained, rooms clean, many pools to enjoy, but our family loved the activity pools where there was always entertainment going on. The water park was fun for the entire family. The Selections Buffet had a wide variety of foods for all to enjoy. I was disappointed with the long wait at the A la Carte Restaurant(Mexican, Italian & Seafood). The Zen Restaurant was good, but had to pay extra for access. The beach was clean and beautifu [... read more]l, but for the Memories guest they could have more chairs and make it more appealing/nice area to spend time at. Photographers on sight were professional and good if you chose to do family pics. We especially liked the Michael Jackson Show and the Circus Show. Overall there was plenty to do for the family and we never got bored.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great VAYCAY!

The hotel was very clean and had lots to do. Many activities by pool. Many pools to have your choice as to where to lounge. Also right on beach and lots of space there as well. Food was good and never had trouble getting a place at Buffett or even the El a Carts. Staff was friendly and tried hard to communicate even if they had little English but most had good English. I would defiantly go back to this resort.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Great Value excellant friendly staff

The grounds are well maintained, the beach is beautiful, one of the nicest beaches in the Dominican, you could walk for miles. The resort itself is a little dated, but kept very clean since it is an older resort the rooms are larger with plenty of storage for personals, refreshing, not the case with some of the newer, more luxurious resorts. Friendly staff that go out their way to please. Food was good, Overall quite pleasantly surprised!

Melia Tropical: A beautiful resort

Large resort but fet very comfortable. Beautiful grounds, it is about a 10 minute walk to the beach from the rooms nearest the main buildings, or can take then frequent choo choo train shuttle. Room was very nice, modern, everything was in order, well kept. Food was pretty good. We ate almost always athe buffets at the main building and at beachfront. There are less weedy areas down the beach if you want to walk a bit and then a swim. Bar service at the pool was poor, some drinks were horrible. The beach bar was a bit better but not that great. Lobby bars were good.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very Large, & wonderful resort

We loved the resort, staying at the newer area, Ambar 2, the rooms were very nice and always cleaned. The grounds are very well maintained, the buffet's were well stocked, & lots to choose from. Some of the best food we've had at buffets. The al-la cartes were easy to book & very good, lots of variety/types to choose from. The pools were clean, the beach was amazing.

Occidental Caribe: Great time to be had!

The grounds are beautiful, and there are a variety of restaurants to have a la carte meals at for lunch and dinner. You will find something - food wise - that is to your liking. Rooms are comfortable, amenities were good. Only issue was the line ups at the bars - unfortunately US college reading week will cause line ups -and no designated area for free WiFi- this was disappointing, as all the resorts offer free WiFi for at least a limited time and at a designated area. Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Beware of con artists on the premises

We were staying in Junior Suite Deluxe. The ceiling above the tub was showing signs of water leakage from above. People were very nice and polite. Food was not good except breakfast which was quite decent. Stay away from high-pressure selling artists of Exclusive Traveler Club.

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellent Vacation at Excellence Resort

This resort is phenomenal! I had the best vacation of my life. The staff is very attentive to all your requests and needs. There were more restaurants than we had nights available to try them all, and the food was fresh and very well prepared. The spa was quite luxurious, my wife went for several appointments. The beach is better for playing in the surf than swimming, but that is what we wanted as it is also quite picturesque. I don't think we will ever go anywhere else after staying at the Excellence.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Beautiful long beaches

I really liked the fact that the resort was big, and even though it was full you never felt crowded. The people were very friendly and helpful. The beaches were amazing for walking every day. The food was great. There was a wonderful variety of fruits and vegetables at every meal. The weather , not that they can control it, but during my time it was perfect. The suite I was in was nice and clean, the housekeeping staff were very discreet when doing their jobs. People were very helpful with there [... read more] information. The only thing that bothered me was the people who would harass you on the beach during your walk to come check out their wares. Also the little market they set up at the resort was nice and a great way to get some souvenirs, but the venders were way to aggressive for me. Someone should tell them that if they let you look on your own without such pressure, that they would do better. More people would stop to look. The way they grab you just pushes you away. Whala Bavaro: Got what we paid for

We traveled to Whala Bavaro Feb 19-26 at a decent price....got what we paid for. The resort is dated but clean. Had a couple of issues but when dicsussed with the front desk staff, were quickly addressed. Had to change rooms the first night as our room basically bordered on the street in front of the motel and was very noisy. Food was good, plentiful and a good variety. Beach was disappointing. Very narrow and people were packed in like sardines. Staff friendly and helpful.

Occidental Punta Cana: awesome resort!

resort was clean, grounds well maintained, paths were very clean, well lit at night, public restrooms very clean, friendly staff, clean pools! beach area well groomed, good variety of food, bathroom could use an update...overall...wonderful holiday!

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellence all round

This was our 4th stay at Excellence Punta Cana and well, each time is a joy. It is always windy and large waves and this time was no different. It did calm towards the end of the week and was quite pleasant and hot.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Great time at Sirenis

Just returned from 10 days. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Advised they are starting to close parts within the month and doing a major renovation. Eventually will become a Grand Sirenis similar to the Grand Sirenis in Mayan Riviera, Mexico. Grounds were beautiful, beach awesome. Plenty of chairs for everyone. Didn't have to go out early in morning to secure chairs. Stayed in the Tropical side which we were advised is the first area that will be closed.
