Melia Buenavista: Gorgeous beach
I was at the Melia Buenavista for only four nights and wasn't able to take advantage of all its features, but I enjoyed my time there and especially appreciated the stunning ocean view from both my hotel room and the beach. The beach felt almost private at times -- I loved how clean and quiet it was. The staff was lovely, especially the butlers (Sergio and Joel), and I have no complaints about the service. My only negative feedback would be about the food, particularly the cooking of meat in [... read more]
Sol Turquesa Beach: Great Resort
Amazing beautifully maintained grounds. Great staff. TV was poor. Diamond Club was a joke, need a lot of work, poorly set-up. Beach was great as always, but sad to see so much floating plastic compared to previous visits.
Roc Barlovento: Very nice Clean Resort
We thought overall it was very good, the beach and ocean was excellent although the swimming pools were on the cold side. The beds were comfortable but the room itself had an oily smell sometimes, they said it was from the oil refinery and it all depended on which way the wind was blowing. The staff were very friendly and the entertainment was excellent. As for the food, my wife and I did have a problem, but the couple we travelled with did not.
Playa Vista Azul: Great Value
They are working hard to bring this hotel from a 4 star up the ladder and it shows. The staff was warm, friendly and very accommodating. The food, although not gourmet, was pretty good and a few of the lunches were stellar....trays and trays of lobster tails, cleaned and cooked to perfection. The grounds and common areas were always clean and tidy and our rooms, including the bathroom was sparkling every day. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to put the bbq back or make some food ava [... read more]
Gran Caribe Sun Beach: You have what you pay for
It is not for sure 3 star hotel They have problems with basic service like having ice , ,drinks ,spices, snacks,Small stuff which can be eazy fixed .If you ask they ignore you or tell you they will do it later.Never happen
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not what we expected!
This resort is certainly not a 4 star. While the beach and water were amazing, the service was non existent. The room was clean, but missing towels, the balcony door didn't have a latch to close/ lock, also we didn't have power in the outlets and it got fixed after several calls and a trip to reception. ( door was not fixed while we stayed) The food was the absolute same every day, not many options, and if you went to eat half hour after the buffet opened, the counters were almost empty. No one [... read more]
Muthu Playa Varadero: Great service!
This was my second time going there, the service was exceptional! The hotel rooms are nice & could use an update but do the trick, the cleaning staff is welcoming & efficient. The air conditioner leaked but the repair man was onsite within minutes to fix it. I would & will be returning soon. I went with my parents & children & everyone is very happy!
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Rundown and in need of updating
While the beach, the weather and the Cuban people are beautiful, this hotel is a decaying relic. It certainly should not be listed as a ‘hidden gem’ or even a 4 star star resort, never mind a five star option. It is a 2.5 or 3 star at best. Travellers who have been to luxury resorts elsewhere in the Caribbean will be sorely disappointed in this resort. There is a stench of sewer in the air, the rooms are extremely outdated and lack basic amenities, there is no room service, though it is adve [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort, stunning beach and beautiful staff!
We enjoyed everything about this resort! Very clean rooms, good food and amazing service. Quiet when you want quiet. Excellent entertainment every evening! The a la carte restaurants were good, the Japanese one was the best! We will definitely go back!
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Clean and well maintained resort
We spent 11 days at the Oven Varadero El Patriarca in early December and had an awesome time. The beech an weather was great! The rooms were clean and spacious, the grounds well maintained, the food tasty and versatile. As I travelled with my elderly mom, we wanted a smaller resort with bungallows. The staff was helpful and polite and accommodated our requests. The only issue was that even though the air conditioner worked well, the air was sometimes smelly, however the maintenance staff fixed [... read more]
Melia Costa Rey: Nice Resort Lacking Services
Stayed at the resort the beginning of Dec/19. Was dark upon arrival and had a hard time finding our room. Pathways were not well lit and building numbers hard to find (hidden in the scrubs). Without water for over 7 hrs one day and then again the following day for several hours. Never any hot water only warm. Beach was okay but no low and high tides. Most days could not see the bottom. Food sitting out for too long. Italian and Seafood restaurant were good. Lacking customer service at th [... read more]
Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Fantastic resort
Fantastic family resort! You will not be disappointed! The service, the room the beach, restaurants everything... we will highly recommend this resort. Highlights: horse back riding on the beach, the Indian restaurant, the churro cart and fresh coconut on the way to the stunning beach>
Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Cayo Coco Memories caribian ressort
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Returned for the eighth time.
Beautiful landscaping—flowers, shrubs, trees, walkways, all maintained daily by a phalanx of gardeners. The staff, though, are truly the crown jewel of Sol Rio. A walk on the beach will take you 10 minutes, end to end. Lounge chairs abound, beach staff will help you set up—a restaurant on the beach, a bar, volleyball, yoga, surf boarding, sailing, all available, all part of Sol Rio’s considerable amenities. The entrance breezeway, 1492 Bar, and coffee bar, patio (for smokers), pool and mor [... read more]
Brisas Guardalavaca: Excellent resort for retirees
An average Cuban hotel, lots of things need attention (maintenance wise). Amazing people are working there, exceptional service. Resort recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, many people coming back every year. Recommended for retired people, very nice and quiet place. Amazing ocean and beach.
Club Amigo Marea Del Portillo: Great for olders
Great hotel for older people. No activities for kids. The entertainment is an evening show and that is pretty much it. Food was ok, limited fruit and salad veriety. Other than that I enjoyed the hotel. Rooms were clean, hot water was always available, mountain view is amazing, nice beach. Only drawback is very bad sand leases. Really bad itching bites. I wish hotel could use smoke to get rid of them. Overall good experience.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Great service!!!
Great and easy booking experience with Hayley at TripCentral, highly recommend. Our third time to Melia Jardines del Rey and it was the best yet. The staff was exceptionally attentive and the beaches were as good as ever. We don't go there for the food, but rather for the weather, people and beaches which were top notch as always.
Club Amigo Ancon: A 2-3 star hotel
A wonderful beach, large pool Beautiful sunrise and sunset Felt safe Interactive staff Usual Cuban food Clean Rooms Seems to be difficult to get plumbing parts, or parts in general if something breaks down, so repairs are not made instantly. Flat area for cycling Close to Trinidad
Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Amazing resort and amazing beach!
The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The beach is gorgeous and has a lot of available shade to settle around. The ocean is nice and shallow for a while so one can always swim regardless of wind. Lots of kite boarders makes for beautiful scenery. Great people and just overall absolutely amazing time. Not one complaint! Even the food was very good!
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great for what we paid!
My husband and stayed here during the first week of December 2019. We had a very relaxing and fun time at Paradisus. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: -The resort grounds and landscape are beautiful and very well maintained. -Hotel room was large, comfortable and clean. We were given an upgrade to a large room in the Royal Service area because none of the Standard rooms were available when we arrived. -Lots of fun programs and activities at the resort and beach -Very friendly staff and se [... read more]
