Riu Republica: Great people, great place!

The resort was excellent, food was great with a decent variety, enough to not have the same meal twice through the week. The rooms were very modern, no bugs. There are frosted windows looking the shower from the main room though so if that's not your thing beware. No room service was a drag after missing dinner one night. Maccao is the best bar, real nice atmosphere and some of the best bartenders around in Joaquin, Isabel, and Noel! They seriously went above and beyond! Would definitely recommend the Riu Republica, in fact I learned about it through a friend and I will definitely be telling other friends about it.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Dream resort

Well organized resort , food items are great, rooms are clean. Swimming pools are clean, all staffs are very cooperative.evening music was excellentl. Food items at the beach were good and service by staff to all tourists were good.

Nice resort ground. Food quality could be better. Friendly people. Kids loved the water park. Restaurant Reservations was a hassle. Need to improve customer service. Prevelige club agents were annoying and rude.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Tropical Paradise

Had an amazing and wonderful time at Caribe Club Princess. Excellent service, well maintained and clean rooms, accessibility to beach, pool, theater etc., was great. Shuttle service whenever needed! Great food...friendly and entertaining wait staff...definitely will return! Xoxo until next time Caribe Club Princess!

Occidental Caribe: Great Resort!

Awesome resort! Had excellent food choices at the buffet. Good service at the bars.Would go back with the whole family for a good vacation party. Even had a nice pizza lunch while watching people go parasailing.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Fabulous resort

We went on vacation to this resort our first time in Puerto Plata the hotel staff are very friendly and treat you like family, the Annimation team was by far the best entertainment we have seen they are very good at getting people to engage in the games and the night shows were phenomenal , the food was great , the grounds were kept nice the bathroom and rooms were very clean. Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Amazing!!

We stayed in a Premium Honeymoon Swim Up Suite, for 5 days. The rooms were immaculate, the grounds were spotless and the food was spectacular. Of all the restaurants, the best one - by far - was Kitchen 23 by the Lighthouse. Congratulations to the chef, who has and incredible imagination and wonderful attention to detail and Jesus, my waiter, who did everything he could to make this experience one of the best ones I've ever had. While the report did a great job cleaning it from the beach area, there was no way I was going to venture in the ocean. The only negative thing that occurred while there was that my toddlers puddle jumpers went missing from our ground floor deck; I had left them out overnight to dry and in the morning they had disappeared. Cant wait to go back

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great service

Great hotel.. great service..thank you for a wonderful week away .. the location was perfect and the view from our room was beautiful. I would recommend this hotel. The staff really goes out of the way to provide you with great service.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Romantic getaway!

We just spent one week in Samana -Cayo Levantado, which is beautiful island resort situated in a very romantic setting, so it is perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries etc. Views are absolutely gorgeous.Greenery is beautiful, food is excellent, staff is amazing. They treated us like a royalty. Because island is hilly, they have elevator that takes you down to the beach level. It has two private beaches, one of them being quite windy, so nobody was swimming there. The other beach was calm and w [... read more]e enjoyed swimming in a clear water with no sea weed, which was not the case in Punta Cana. They have lot of natural trees and also palapas on the beach. Pools are beautiful as well, just we are beach people so we stayed at the beach. Island has public beach as well that is just steps away. You need to sign out when you are leaving hotel and they also give you towels, but drinks and chairs at the public beach - you need to pay for. That beach is quite big and locals have access only during the day. We were there off season so hotel was not full and there were no lineups anywhere, no need to get up early and reserve chair at the beach. What we did not like is that it was difficult to get reservations for a la carte restaurants since they did not keep them all open,so we ended up eating at the buffet most of the days. Entert. was OK, very low key, they would have a singer, each evening different one and "animacion" people would come up and ask to dance with us.They apparently had disco on the public beach after enter. in main hotel was finished, but we never went. I would recommend this resort if you want to rest, but if you want "party - party", this is not the place. We were also missing our beach walk, that we had in Punta Cana, where you have hotels, one after the other, and you walk for an hour, here we did not have that.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very disappointing

I arrived at Bahia Principe Punta Cana on Sept.1 in the evening. I could not get the room safe to work. I called the front desk and they sent a person to fix it. I put $200.00 US and $80.00 Cdn. along with a credit card and a few other items. I went to get some money from the safe onMonday. I WAS ROBBED from a locked safe and room.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Awesome resort

2nd time to this resort in less than a year ... Service was great. Always could find something to eat in the buffet. A la carte are excellent. If you can speak and understand Spanish it is to your advantage as some of the staff don't speak French or English.

Riu Republica: As honest as it gets...

The hotel itself was lovely, the grounds were extremely clean and the rooms were modern and comfortable. The highlight of the trip was definitely the beach, one of the nicer ones we have been to. However there are a few things: 1) The workers speak minimal english, and aren't as friendly as other countries/ resorts. 2) The food, like many other Caribbean all-inclusive resorts, is lower quality and will get repetitive. It is by no means terrible, however don't expect fine dining. 3) This reso [... read more]rt has a very large European population, with the majority being smokers. If you are trying to quit, or don't like cigarette smoke, be warned. The non-smoking areas are very small in the outdoor theatres.

Excellence El Carmen: Amazing!!!!!!!

We have nothing bad to say about this hotel at all. My wife and I just got back from a 7 night stay in early September 2018 and it was amazing. Manuel was our concierge who couldn’t do enough for us and it was actually his first week on the job and you would never know it. The food was great. Both my wife and I are very health driven and the cooks always listened and followed your requests. There was never any loud music at the pool but always some activity to participate in should you want to. The gym was large with some of the newest equipment I have ever seen and we loved the fact that it opened at 6:00 a.m.. We had a Jr suit swim up room and it was awesome. We had our own lounge chairs and bed to relax on. The resort was not huge but was at 85% capacity but it never ever felt that way. This resort is comparable with the quality you get at a Sandals. We will go back.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Decent place for vacation

This resort very positively distinguishes from other resorts of Bahia family. Though it is not categorized as Luxury it provides all the same amenities to the guests (besides alcohol in the rooms) and you always feel yourself welcome in this resort. Transfer from and to airport was well arranged, warm reception and comfortable rooms, great beach and clear water, delicious food, tasty cocktails in the bar. What else is needed for relaxing vacation?

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Not impressed

The grounds were nice and I feel that the staff did their best to keep it clean. However, our room smelled musty, the service was not good (very unfriendly) and the pool bathrooms were NASTY. We will not go back to this resort. In addition, my husband got a terrible case of sand-flea bites that he needed medication for. A couple that we know went the week after we got back and the same thing happened and they had similar feedback. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Enjoyed every minute of it!

The Grand Bahia Principe was a fabulous resort! The grounds are spectacular and even have a Mangrove to observe. The staff work very hard to please you at all times. Our rooms were spacious, well maintained and the daily service was fantastic. The lobby areas had entertainment every night, the nightly shows very good, especially the Michael Jackson show, the Lion King and the Magic Show. The buffet was so good, I wasn't sure if I would go to the Al la cartes... but I did and they were VERY  [... read more]good, particularly the Mexican, the Steak Grill and the Asian. Spent most of the time at the pool but walked on the beach several times. Never had to wait more than a few minutes for a drink and they always tried to please. The village area was fun to visit, Casino, Karaoke and a shopping area. I would go back to this resort in a heartbeat!

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Sunclub a MUST

The minute i arrived i told the clerk at the check-in counter that we were celebrating getting engaged and he proposed upgrading to sunclub for a unique VIP trip. I took the opportunity and i did not regret it one second. The high end booze and private pool/beach were AMAZING plus they gave us a room oceanview with a jaccuzi in the room. Will definetely reccomend and probably will be my choice in DR from now on !

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: A tropical paradise

My boyfriend and I booked this trip at the end of summer to relax and enjoy after a crazy summer of working, and I am so glad I choose this resort to do so. For someone who travels to a lot of all inclusive resorts I did enjoy how welcomed we truly felt here. The performances they put on every night showed their talent and dedication to making people entertained and happy! They deserve lots of credit For all they do at the resort. As for the beach I was a bit concerned based off of other reviews stating how far the walk is and how there is a lot of seaweed. But I didn’t believe both to be true at all. The beach is taken care of and had excellent shaded areas due to the palm trees. Although at times there are a lot of vendors, as long as you are nice to them they will treat you with respect. For someone who loves beaches I can say It was picture perfect scenery with the famous mountain within the distance it makes you never want to leave. The water wasn’t as clear as a usual tropical spot but did enjoy the waves and long walks. The food we thought was great! Highly recommend the tuna at blend. We got to try all the restaurants and enjoyed it all, our only complaint was portion sizes could be a bit bigger. The buffet offered a good amount of selection, if you aren’t a picky eater you won’t have problems. We were big fans of the snack bar at the beach. We had nachos, fresh fruit and wood oven pizza on the beach while enjoying the beautiful view almost everyday! Our lovely friend Agusto was another great experience we had at the beach, he was always pleasant and happy to serve drinks at the beach bar! Loved his personality! As for the rooms the amnesia suite is a must! Originally booked the bliss room to only find out there was no balcony and the room was very small in comparison to what was shown in pictures. But overall upgrade made a huge difference as seemed to be more maintained and fresher looking and actually had a balcony! The whole property was kept clean from early sunrise to sunset. The workers were constantly cleaning the facilities and it definitely showed. Very pleased with the standards they had. Overall Viva Heavens did live up To our expectations. Already missing it and hoping to go back soon! A great place that gives you that “home away from home” feel! Such a beautiful country with amazing people, Puerto plata is by far one of my favourite spots now as well as Viva heavens!

Beautiful area, staff is really interactive and friendly. Food is amazing 5 different restaurants that have different cultures food. Excursions are fun and exciting. Would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun time!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Beautiful Resort.

The hotel and the restraunts are beautiful. The service inside the hotel was very bad. They ignored us most of the time. When we were at the "Bogmalia" for breakfast at the Lobby we were ignored most of the time. I had to keep calling the servers for a glass of water. We had to request for a place to sit at the table and even ask for a plate. They looked at us and passed us by several times. At the reception it took 4 hours to get a room at arrival in the hotel. When we did get a room, the A [... read more]C, safe and fridge were not working. The room that I was given was quiet a distance from the Lobby. We had to go back to let them know of the shortcomings. I was told I had to wait the next day to get another room. I informed them I was diabetic and need the fridge to keep my insulin. If anything happened to me, I would definitely blame GBP for my illness. Within half an hour, I got another room with everything in working condition. It's sad that all staff speak Spanish. A few of them like the drivers were very nice. They made the attempt to speak English. Most of the servers would look at us people and ignore us. Racist indeed. Because we don't speak Spanish. Not a good feeling. The Italian, Garden Grill and Japenese restraunts were very cool and the service there was fantastic. Servers were kind and friendly and looked after us. Had a wonderful dinner in all three places. On a good note, the entertainment was fantastic and the best was "COCO BONGO" Please do not miss visiting this club outside of the resort. Worth the price of US.$75.00. The group that danced every night for an hour were just so good could not help yourself to get up and join the crowd .
