Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Worfthless instructions

We asked for ground floor room numbers 5101 to 5106. We advised that we were taking a wheelchair. At checkin, we repeated the above. They gave us 5108 which as a ground floor room (up on a hill) but required 7 or 8 steps to get there. No elevator. Took two hours and the generousity of strangers to change rooms with us. Either you people are not getting through to them or they just ignore what you send to them. This is our 6th visit to Royal Decameron. Seems it doesn't mean anything to [... read more] them. Grand Decameron Panama: Great Resort! Amazing Vacation!

The rooms were spacious and clean. The grounds were constantly being cleaned. Food was great, especially at the Italian and Mediterranean restaurants. Many pools to choose from although had to get there early if wanted chairs under umbrellas for shade. Would definitely return to this resort.

The staff were friendly and competent. The resort was very clean. This is our fourth visit and I think the quality of the food and wine have deteriorated. Would like to see the safe included in the package as well.

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Great Place

Nice resort in a great location. Staff very friendly, very well kept grounds and a beautiful beach. Enough of a variety at the buffet to keep everyone happy and there's a restaurant by the pool/beach with a different menu every night (reservations required). Felt quite comfortable wandering around the town of San Jose da Cabo and walking on the beach. A ride on the local bus is well worth the $1 fare. Warm and cool water pools sharing a swim up bar. Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Southern Home

We have been to Los Cocos multiple times; as have many who go every year for short to long stays. Just driving up to the Lobby is like 'going home'. Throughout the complex we are welcomed back by familiar faces, hugs and handshakes. The warm greetings continue throughout our stays. The food is good; a wide variety of selections to choose from no matter what your preferences. Always fresh and well presented. The desserts are so tempting and delicious.... The service in all areas is outstanding.  [... read more] The Guayabitos beach is another reason we keep going back. There are miles of golden sand to walk on; power walk or stroll. It is also a great place to people watch; especially on weekends when the Mexican families come to enjoy the sand and surf. There are vendors on the beach but they are not intrusive at all. A simple Nada or No, thank you and they move on. The hotel pools are solar heated; cold on a hot body, but kept clean. I prefer a dip in the ocean myself. An evening stroll through town in the evening is delightful. Families gather on the street to socialize and eat dinner.Snowbirds get together in the popular places. As with anywhere you travel, you need to be aware of surroundings. But generally, we feel quite safe out walking. Saying goodbye to our friendds at Los Cocos is the most difficult part of a stay there.

Enjoyed the stay for a second time. 3 years ago was amazing, my only complaint this trip was the entertainment staff, they were very friendly but not much going on. I think they can improve on different events to keep all entertained.

Grand Decameron Panama: Never Again Royal Decameron

The hotel grounds were nice, the rooms were older could here neighbours quiet clearly, but the biggest disappointment was the food, and the service. When we got there they sent us to a spot to eat as we where very hungary, they fried burgers that had been sitting there for who knows how long, buns were stale, had to shoo away the birds from the salad bar, the food at the buffet was not much better. Good day, my husband and I spent 8 days at your resort. We do not speak Spanish and everyday we had difficulty communicating with your staff. We used Lobby 3 for all our communications. Only one person spook good English so we tried to talk to him when he was on duty. I would think that a resort as large as yours you would hire persons who spoke English fluently. My husband required assistance ever day we left our building for transportation to the dining room. My husband always tipped the driver, a custom in our country. We never could go swimming in the ocean as reaching it was impossible. Our room was always clean, the grounds keeper kept the property neatly groomed. We could not talk to any of these people as they did not understand English. My husband had to see the doctor. Dr. Fletcher spoke excellent English and he helped my husband with his problem. Signing up for a dining room was a waste of our time. We could only book 3 evenings at a time. Then when we went back to order other dining rooms, those restaurants were closed. Why? The food in the dining room was always good, fresh although you ran out of salad an fresh food rather regularly. Grand Decameron Panama: Worst Resort Ever!!!

Let me begin by stating that this resort serves the worst food I have ever eaten at any resort or restaurant anywhere. It’s incredible the lengths Royal DeCRAPeron goes to save a buck. We were a group of 13 men aged 50+ on our annual golf vacation getaway. We have been doing this for years at different resorts each year. Until this experience we have had nothing but good/great things to say about each of our past experiences elsewhere. Check in was very fast and efficient which they did  [... read more]at the airport. They had everything ready for us. Check out as well was very good. That’s the extent of the good experiences at Royal DeCRAPeron They are old school at this resort by issuing keys instead of cards to open your door and they give you only one key per room. As such if you want another key they ask for a $15 refundable deposit. If you want use of the safe, it works out to just under $3 per day. A WASTE OF MONEY!! 3 times we had to call down to have it opened because it broke. A few of our friends experienced the same. We called and called and called to have them come to fix it. They might as well throw their phone system out because they don’t answer it. If by chance they do, no one speaks English. To get any service we had to walk to the lobby to ask at the front desk to have someone fix it. They ask that we go to our room to wait for them; that wait was anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes on each occasion. My advice, save your money, time and aggravation and leave your valuables at home. Carry a money belt and carry your passport with you. Or just stash it somewhere. The rooms were not well cleaned. Everything we touched was greasy. We’ll assume, sunscreen lotion from past guests. We spent the first hour scrubbing down as much as we could with soap and water. In the bathroom they would only leave us one roll of toilet paper – the one on the roll. We asked that they leave a second one but they did not all week. Again, they most likely did not understand or this was another means of Royal DeCRAPeron cutting costs. The FOOD. Or what they may call food. The buffet offered a very small selection. There was a selection of 5-6 items in the hot tables. The grill offered 2-3 choices. That’s pretty much it. Breakfast would offer scrabbled eggs at the hot table. NO BACON. NO SAUSAGES. You had to go the to grill where people were lining up to have an omelette made which was generally a big line to ask for bacon which they kept behind the counter. If you figured out where the bacon was kept, more often than not they didn’t have any. They served the strangest things at breakfast. On different days they served; chicken wings, ribs, chicken legs and wings in a sauce, quesadillas jerk pork. What we think it was, leftovers from previous dinners. Not sure but it was weird. Wings, ribs etc. YES. Bacon and sausages NO. I had cereal 5 of the 7 days. Hard to screw that up but they did on the 2 days I didn’t have it. Milk was frozen on one occasion and it was empty the on the other. Yogurt they leave for self serve in a giant bowl. No ice under it. It was very warm and likely someone was going to get ill eating it. Dinner and lunches weren’t much better. Often the food was cold, overcooked and dry. Thought we try the salad bar, but it was generally picked clean. They did a very poor job of replenishing the dishes. And again, very few selections. On one occasion I thought I would go a safe route and make myself a tomato and cheese sandwich. No cheese, no tomatoes. The bread often very stale. The orange juice is not orange juice, it’s TANG. On one occasion one of our friends was not feeling well and decided to nap. He asked that we prepare and bring him back a sandwich but they prevented us from taking food out of the restaurant. They said they have a policy of no food was to be taken out the restaurant. Our friend had to go without that day. While we fully understand that they have opening and closing hours, if you’re hungry through non-lunch or dinner hours, on one occasion it was quite the challenge to get something to eat. They have snack bars throughout but most of them were closed, the ones they keep open are open at opposite ends of the resort. And it’s a very big resort. The a la carte restaurants are waste of time. You can only book reservations 2 days in advance. But you had to book early in the day as they booked up. We got there at 8 am and it was too late. In turn we just turned up one eve. We were turned away from the Italian restaurant and yet the place was 80% empty. We did get in a few nights later. I have to give credit where it’s due. The ravioli was good. But the portions are small and they will refuse you a second serving. They told us they have a limit of one entre per person. “All inclusive”??? While we don’t blame the people who worked there that they didn’t speak English (managements fault) it was very frustrating throughout. The staff was friendly and tried. No complaints of the golf course. Well kept, very reasonably priced and challenging. And great staff (that’ doesn’t speak English but very friendly and helpful) But it was clear how management went to great lengths to cut back on the little things we take for granted when we vacation at a resort. Among the 13 of us, we figured we have stayed at almost 80 resorts between us and we all agreed that Royal DeCRAPeron was the WORST. Can’t emphasise enough how bad the food was. If the food were decent, we would have overlooked the other little things we didn’t like. But the food was that bad. We ate off site on 4 occasions to get a decent meal. In summary, definitely would NOT RECOMMEND this resort.

Grand Decameron Panama: Worst trip in our 5 years as a group

Where do I start. We went to Cuba on our second year and the food was 3 times better than whatever we had here. No plans to do anything for the Super Bowl had to supply own food to enjoy the game. The best meal we had we had to go off the resort to a restaurant. I understand we're in a different country but you have to have someone who can communicate when there's a problem. Little things like having to pay for a second key when they're two people in the room having to pay for a safe at an all- [... read more]inclusive resort is unacceptable. Spoke to people there who told me they have been coming here for years and it has been going downhill and they would never come back, I hope you take a good look before you recommend anybody else to come to this Resort. Saying that the rooms were fine and the grounds are very nice. I read some negative reviews before we came here but we had to see it for ourselves and I would rate this 3 out of 10.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great for older couples

Let me start by saying that I really like Decameron Los Cocos! It is my second visit and I will go back, hopefully for longer than two weeks next time. This is an older hotel in four buildings (plus one under reconstruction) in a small town. Six years ago, I would have described it as a fishing village with some hotels, but there are fewer fishermen and more tourists now. The town is three blocks wide and about a mile and a quarter long stretched along the beach. The guests are either olde [... read more]r Canadians or Mexican extended families. Many are repeat visitors; one couple we met are there for nine weeks and this is their sixteenth year. Transfer from the airport was close to an hour and half. It will be twenty or thirty minutes quicker when the road construction is finished. The rooms are basic, but clean. The beds are hard but comfortable. Water was warm but not hot. Building 1 and 2 (plus 5 when rebuilt) are on the beach, 3 is across the road (but has larger rooms) and 4 is up the hill and has the superior rooms. Check in an check out were quick and easy. There is wifi in the main lobby and in the lobby of Cocos 1 but it is incredibly slow and really unusable for much of anything. There are coffee shops and restaurants in the area which have better wifi for the price of a coffee if you really must look at Facebook. I could get e-mail in our room (1108) if I left my tablet on when I went to the beach, so it does work, but extremely slowly. The main buffet restaurant is excellent. There is good variety and food is generally tasty. Fish and pork are always available and usually chicken. Beef is sometimes on the menu, but is tougher than we are used to in Canada. There is always some Mexican food, which we found usually to be the best choice. The food is warm but rarely hot. The coffee is strong and not to everyone’s taste. Oddly, it is not available in mid-afternoon, but Oxo across the street sells coffee. The second restaurant is not open yet as building 5 is being rebuilt, but the snack bar next door has reopened. It has a limited selection from late morning until around 5:00 including burgers and fries. The construction work was not at all disturbing while we were there. No heavy machinery visible. We did not reserve for the à la carte restaurant, although we had lunch there a time or two. It is a bit of a climb (about 30 stairs) up from the lobby. The lunch buffet is more limited than at the main buffet, but I thought the food a bit better. Soups were always good. There are three bars, open from 10:00 a.m. on. The main one is La Iguana which is across from the buffet along the beach. Los Pelicanos is also on the beach but quieter. There is another at Cocos 4 which we stopped at on the way to lunch at the upper restaurant and I never saw anyone sitting there. The disco serves drinks after the other bars close until 3:00 a.m. The beer is Modelo (Clara and Negra) and the dark rum is Bacardi. There is a selection of tequilas and other liquors. The beach has a constant flow of walkers and vendors. It is about 30 minutes to walk to the far end where a stream bed divides Rincon de Guayabitos from La Penita. The beach is fronted by restaurants and hotels. Few of them are higher than four stories and most seem to host Canadian seniors in large numbers. Lots of beach vendors sell everything from food (shrimp, fish, ceviche, nuts, candies) to inflatable beach toys, clothing and handicrafts. Pretty much anything can be bought on the beach, although probably at a higher cost than at one of the many shops in town. Pesos are preferred, but Canadian or U.S. dollars can be used. Beach loungers at the hotel are adequate in number but a bit uncomfortable. Some people bring or buy plastic air mattresses to put on them. There are three small pools (with a fourth at the building under construction). All are unheated and shallow (1.5 metres/4.79 feet at the deep end). The ocean is warmer but sometimes rough. The pools are in the centre of the buildings are not sunny all day. A swim in the pools is brisk. The staff was routinely friendly, seemed happy to be doing what they were doing and are hard-working. If you are looking for a five-star hotel with lots of amenities, or a hotel with exciting night-life for young people, this is not it. Best for older couples or those just looking for a quiet time away. For us, it was a great place for a holiday.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great Place

Food was excellent which is unusual in many resorts. The hotel was clean and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The beach was great to walk and it stretched for a long ways. It was also very warm and gentle to swim in. What was very unique about the location was that it was right in town so lots of opportunity to explore and experience the local culture. Not a fancy hotel but comfortable . Would go back again for sure!

Our 10 night stay at the Royal Decameron was great - the food was great, the staff was very helpful as well as courteous, and the entertainment was fun to watch and participate in. We would return to this complex. There was an issue: On the departure date, a Saturday- (is that a good day to depart?) - the shuttle was to arrive and pick us up at 0920, but never arrived until 1010, loaded with Vancouver departees, and traffic was slowed to a crawl. We were supposed to depart the airport prior [... read more] to those Vancouver bound, but they were given three check in lines, and we were left waiting with no Winnipeg check in line for over two hours. There was one line for Calgary. Finally, we got closer to the air transat check in, the computer crashed, and we waited again. It was nobody's fault, and the tech support got it up and running again. Our flight was to leave at 1300, and we waited.....and at departure time, still waited without a boarding pass Leaving the resort early wasn't early enough if that's the way we're treated. But had to rush through the secure side to get to our flight. Luckily, the plane waited for us and the remaining passengers before leaving. Plane door was closed at 1330. Airborne at 1345. Our suggestion: would you organize this departure better, including individual shuttles for each destination - a single shuttle each for Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary, and enough time then to eat a lunch - or browse at the airport.... It can be done and be easier on the nerves if the destinations are kept separate instead of all on one bus.

Grand Decameron Panama: Excellent Resort

We had an amazing stay at the royal Decameron in Panama. The only thing I can say is next time I will book a ocean front. the stairs and paths leading to our unit was very difficult especially when you have health issues. Very efficient check in and all staff was very helpful. Disappointing that you had to make a reservation for the buffet and when you went to book the special restaurants a lot of nights they were either closed or booked for special parties. Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Perfect for adults over 40

Small 3 story resort, great roof top pool. Friendly staff, no line ups for drinks or chairs. Good food, close to the local town and Mega store. Clean rooms, great value for your money. The variation of food changes daily. Lots of activities if you're interested.

This hotel was amazing! All the staff, including the ground keepers, take the time to say hello and ask how you are - incredible! The waiters / waitresses in the restaurants are attentive and so eager to make sure you have everything you need - (Special thanks to Solomon, Xochit, and Miguel -you made our stay extra special) I have to comment on Ali, she works with activities, she does a great job at engaging all the guests into extra activities, but leaves you alone if you have told her that  [... read more]you didn't want to participate. The resort is small so most of the guests get to know one another, which is so different than many other resorts. There will be people that will complain about many things - but those people will never find a resort that will satisfy them. Ok I love Mexico.. My favourite place to travel.. This place.. Location.. Grounds.. Size, drinks awesome... Food horrible for the most part... Yeah.. Cleaning of rooms left much to be desired..no attention given to mirrors.patio doors ..Nothing got moved from around the sink.. The majority of the staff was simply amazing... They are why people come to this place... Good location that you can go to nearby restaurants for meals! City

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: No place like home - except Los Cocos

This is a 3 star resort but it is off the charts when it comes to the heart of the resort. Staff is wonderful - friendly and efficient; the resort is older and somewhat shabby in some areas but rooms and grounds are spotless; guests usually return, some many times, and are all so friendly that friendships often continue after the holiday is over; and there is so much to do as the resort is in a lovely small town ( full of Canadians displaying Canadian flags) with small shops and restaurants if o [... read more]ne wants a change from hotel food, miles of beautiful sandy beaches which take you on to the next town and with lots of beach side bars and restaurants to enjoy along the way. Evening entertainment is good for such a small resort. The only thing we find lacking is the WiFi which only works in a few places and even then often poorly but a short walk away is a cafe with free Wifi that is always good. We love zlpd Cocos.
