Hotel Inglaterra: Nice hotel, great location

My daughter and I stayed there for a week in July 2014. The Inglaterra Hotel is situated in the heart of Havana. The building has an interesting exterior and stunning interior. Our room was on the second floor facing the Grand Teatro building. It was a nice room with comfortable beds. The AC was working, even though it was a bit noisy and we had to turn it off at night. We appreciated the in-room safe, mini fridge and 110V electrical outlets. There were no issues with water or electricity supply [... read more] during our stay. We enjoyed the daily, splendid, breakfast at the Colonial - a beautiful restaurant on the ground floor and spent a few evenings at the La Terrazza Bar & Grill on the 4th floor. The selection was not too extensive, but still pretty good. There was a live music every night and the view from the roof was amazing. Our room was well taken care of, with beautiful towel ornaments awaiting us every day. We made sure to tip well and leave presents for the housekeeping lady. The front desk service was rather poor, which was unfortunate. We got used to little knowledge and oblivion, but got upset when we were faced with an incorrect currency exchange rate. Mind you, the Reception was never busy, just very disengaged. The travel agent desk was a disaster. Their role was to sell pre-packaged trips, that was it. They had no complimentary area map available for guests. The only ones they offered were large maps for 3 CUC. Print some off the internet before you go! There was also a Car Rental agent, but we didn't chance it. Our vacation was with SunWing. It was very well organized, the transfers from and to Varadero were on time and comfortable. SunWing representative, Osmay, was excellent. We attended the scheduled orientation session and received valuable information and tips. We purchased two trips directly through him: a half-day Snorkeling trip at Playa Santa Maria and a full-day trip to Vinales/Pinar del Rio. We liked both and received a great value. The trip to Vinales/Pinar del Rio was provided by a local supplier Gaviota Tour. Our tour guide, Gustav, was excellent. He studied an University of Havana to become an English teacher. He also spoke French and were fluent in both languages. He was very knowledgeable and took a good care of the whole group. We would recommend these trips to others.

Club Kawama: Great time!

This was a great resort...the food..the resort..the drinks..the staff..the entertainment..everything was great!!! The room was clean and served it's purpose..a place to sleep and shower....if you spent any more time than that in your room you are doing Cuba wrong!!! The staff were all super friendly and helpful..especially our waiter Leo..the best!!!! Cannot wait to return next year!!!

Hotel Villa Cuba: Great resort

Being a first time traveller to Cuba, we enjoyed everything at Villa Cuba.. As long s you go there with an open mind and can adapt things easily, for sure, you will enjoy your stay.. The location is great.. It's few minutes away from downtown.. The staff are amazing.. They always greet you with a smile... The resort needs some maintenance, but again, if your expectations are not so high, you will like it as is... The room where we were was very clean.. We also enjoyed the a la carte restaurants, but booking them isn't an easy task.. You have to be in line before 10 am to book and make the effort to be there earlier, otherwise you will be in line forever... The beach was beautiful and the water was calm...

Club Kawama: Good for the price!

The hotel had great entertainment, food was okay, rooms weren't the best but made them work. Maids were great! Bar service could be a little slow at times. I wouldn't mind going back if I wanted a budget vacation!

Roc Barlovento: amazing

I would recommend this resort .The rooms are nice and clean the grounds are clean and very well maintained and the food was excellent the beeches were very clean and well maintained the staff was amazing

Roc Barlovento: Excellent staff

Over all the stay was excellent. The rooms were your usual 3 star experience - food not so good but lots a great places to eat in walking distance as well. But what made the stay excellent was the staff. They were truly amazing and loved to engage their guests. Also the bar area was a blast as well.

Roc Barlovento: nice resort

nice rooms ,great food, very nice people,would prefer beer at beach bar. nice beach nice all around set up The outdoor snack bar is great if you are at the beach you can eat at the snack bar great food and seating areas. Great shows at night all around very nice resort I recommend it to my friends all the time surely will be back .

Hotel Internacional: Good resort but some problems

The staff were very nice and the beach is beautiful but there were a few things that you should consider before booking here. When you book a room, ask for one that doesnt have a connecting door because you can hear people talking in the next room like they were in your own. You should also not stay on the third floor if you want any water pressure at all, also the shower was usually cold. Now this was my first time in Cuba so I dont know how to compare food with other resorts but this food was  [... read more]VERY bland and my stomach just barely tolerated it. You should also consider bringing a mug of your own because the cups they use for everything are about 5oz. Saying that, I would go back with those few conciderations kept in mind. It was nice that there was a place to rent scooters and horse drawn carriages at the hotel that was next door.

Club Kawama: Great vacation

Don't expect 4 or 5 star quality but for the price, this is a good resort. Great beach with no issues getting space to sit any time of day. Food was ok, rooms were not bad. Tip the staff and they will provide smiling service! We were at the far end of the resort so we had a great spot for food, drinks, and an almost private pool and beach. Club Kawama: Disappointed

Upon our arrival the staff at the reception desk were not friendly at all except for Leida. We've been to Cuba numerous times always feeling welcome. We felt like an inconvenience at Kawama. We had an excellent room right on the beach. Our girls room was in the building next to us. They had issues with the tub backing up very gross "stuff" then both of our buildings had no water! Plus they had overbooked at Kawama and there seemed to be allot of locals. So we decided to move to Villa Cuba. We were so glad we did. The staff were excellent, food was great, rooms were wonderful. We plan to go back to Villa Cuba in December! Kawama had a great beach. Kawama is right in Varadero so you can walk to the market & bars if you're into that plus there was an excellent pasta/pizza place beside Kawama. If you ever go there ask for Leida. She is a wonderful lady.

Club Kawama: Not quite as planned

I was booked into Kawama from April 21-27, 2014. When I arrived at the hotel, I (and others) were told that they were overbooked and that we were to stay down the road at the ROC Barlovento. Long story short, I didn't like the Barlovento but was able to get a wristband so that I could use Kawama's facilities. I cannot comment on the rooms as I did not get to stay there, but I did see inside two other guests' rooms, one in the 4000s and one in building 16. The room in 16 was "nicer" and overlooke [... read more]d the pool, but the 4000 building had its merits, too; it had its own pool, bar and restaurant and felt like it was its own hotel! The room was not as "nice", but was doable. The staff:Awesome. I had smiles from everyone. The ladies at the front desk were charming to me, and I was amazed at the buffet staff, too (I only ate in the buffet twice for breakfast, at at El Brocal for another). The omelette guy was a sweetie, and the wait staff was efficient and friendly, the exact opposite of those at Barlovento. The food: I only had three breakfasts here, and ate lunch at the snack bar a couple of times. I was very pleased with everything I had. Apparently the food in the buffet goes downhill at every meal, but I've found that to be true at any AI. The beach: Absolutely beautiful. Lots of shade under palapas, and many chairs, though some were in dubious repair. I hit the beach early, so I was always able to find one in good enough shape. The drinks: Very good! My favourite bar was the lobby bar, though it would have been nice if the "no smoking" policy had been enforced. Cuba sure attracts all of the smokers of the world. :o( Anyway, they made a lovely sangria and always with a smile. Fernando at the beach bar was a great guy to spend time with as well. No beer at the beach bar or lobby bar--you could only get that at the pool bar. The entertainment: They had live music everywhere. I'm not sure if it was due to the conference going on or if that's the way it always is, but it was nice to sit at the buffet at lunch or in the evening, listening to the band. Location: Fabulous! So nice having the bank, shops, and restaurants so close. Try Kiki's or La Sangria for great pizza and lobster. I would like to get to Kawama again and actually stay there. I was impressed with the beach and the people.

Club Kawama: Not a good time

The staff was rude unless you spoke Spanish . The resort was so big it took ten minute just to walk to your room , no transportation provided. Air conditioner broke down called to have it fixed each day they said the would send someone and no one every came . Very small selection of food choices . I don't recommend this resort , on te plus side the beach was amazing and cuba is a beautify place to visit just the resort was a disappointment . 4 different couple during are week stay moved to other [... read more] resorts . Club Kawama: Classic Cuban Resort

The original part of Club Kawama was built in 1930 so there's lots of history there. The beach was beautiful and Fernando at the beach bar made mojitos with mint he bought fresh from the market each morning. The buffet & restaurants were good and the live music was excellent; a 6 piece band at the buffet and a female trio at the Italian restaurant.

Club Kawama: nice pool ! decent food good location

the pool is nice ,to bad they didn't offer some newer loungers by the ocean! overall the place is okay , make sure you spend the extra for the upgraded rooms!!!! that's a must ! location is great no fear of leaving the but the mosquitoes are a nightmare ( BRING SPRAY ) and dont open your windows , food on the resort is actually pretty good but you have lots of choice near by that very inexpensive.

Roc Barlovento: great hotel

We have been to the Roc Barlovento 5 times in the past 3 years. We have enjoyed every stay and are going back in October with friends. We truly loved where it is located, close to the market places and cafes, so you can walk there in minutes. The staff there is very friendly and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. They have been doing a lot of renovations to the rooms and other areas and has only increased the service and comfort of your stay. Since we've been going the [... read more]re we have brought another 6 couples for their first time and they all have gone back again. We have also meet numerous people there who have become good friends and we meet there at least once a year. The beach and pool areas are well maintained and very clean. The food is very good and plenty of it. Katia who is in charge of Customer's Relations is very friendly and goes out of her way to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable vacation without any mishaps to mess things up. I would truly recommend this as a Holiday you will never forget.

Club Kawama: Fantastic resort

My sister and I stayed at Club Kawama for one week in February. We've had an amazing experience! The food was delicious and had a great selection. We participated in all the activities the hotel had to offer and enjoyed all of them. The beach and the water were clean. The staff was friendly and professional. We recommend Club Kawama because they offer almost anything you need in any resort but with a very affordable price.

Club Kawama: Very good resort close to downtown

Very helpful people, friendly Close to downtown Rooms clean and well looked after Service was very good and I enjoyed the entertainment close at hand and the night life. people are so friendly it makes you not to go home. Would go there again.

Roc Barlovento: Older Resort but no complaints

The resort grounds could use some paint and new bedding. But the layout is great and the staff were wonderful. The food was not as good as a 5 star but I didn't pay for a 5 star. If you go hungry that's your own fault. The hotel is only a short cab ride to the bars and markets.

Club Kawama: LOVED IT

The hotel staff was amazing, food was good to great. Some buildings were still in renovations but what had been completed was beautiful and they kept the area neat and tidy. Always saw staff walking grounds keeping it clean. Staff was friendly and helpful, always willing to help and chat. Location was within walking to market, or to take enjoyable taxi or carriage ride. We are returning to the same site, no point in taking a chance to be somewhere unhappy

Hotel Villa Cuba: Loved It!!

Everything was excellent with our stay at Villa Cuba. Segei at the front desk is the BEST!! He went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. The fellow at the coffee bar was very friendly as well. The pool, Alla Carte restaurants, grounds, beach, weather, shopping (within easy walking distance), and the people of Cuba were all a wonderful experience. We ARE going back someday, maybe, hopefully this next winter.
