Sol Caribe Beach: Amazing Experience

I was very appreciative about going to Cuba as you hear horror stories about food. Sol Caribe was fabulous. Smaller newly renovated resort. Food was great! Service was great! Everyone very friendly. Beach and ocean was the highlight.

Melia Cayo Coco: Nice Stay! Wonderful people everywhere we went!

Very Clean accommodating Resort. The beach is worth every penny! Nice views from the a la carte restaurant! DJ was exceptional and 24 hour facilities were great if the night lingered into the wee hours!

Paradisus Los Cayos: Good but could be better!

Purchased the Royal service but everything was not as it seemed. My sister and I were excited to have the works for this vacation. We had amazing butlers (Yassar & Jannah), but we slowly realized that the features we saw online were no longer in effect. No turndown service, no mini snacks, no ironing services, no pool towel bag and no pillow menu. We did get a beach and pool concierge but only after filing a complaint (we were ignored for over 2 hours and were the only people at the private pool [... read more]). While we typically go without these services, we did pay quite a bit more to treat ourselves, only to realize we didn't get much of an upgrade. The biggest disappointment was the food. We knew the reviews going into Cuba, however this was next level. The buffet was not good. Breakfast was the best meal (bread and eggs are great there), but do not come here expecting decent food. The a la cart restaurants were essentially the same meals but a change of protein (cabbage, mash and chicken one day and cabbage, mash and pork the next). Once again, we did complain to the food and bev manager (shoutout to Jerry), and there were some improvements made. I would note that this place doesn't do all the cute and fancy drinks. Only some of the bartenders there do (shoutout to Hector and Antony). Beach was BEAUTIFUL! This is the primary reason we came to this part of cuba. It did not disappoint!! The room was nice (we were given the wrong room upon arrival but got it switched) (shoutout to Dillarmi). A/C worked great and it was clean. Bed was comfy! The shows were nice. This is definitely not a party resort, its very very quiet. We did find a roach in the room the morning we woke up. I don't think this was due to the cleanliness of the room. Roaches were constantly outside. On the note of bugs, there is a SERIOUS MOSQUITO PROBLEM. Each night my sister and I got about 8-10 bites each night. It was terrible. We ended up with over 20 bites within the last two days. We are still itching haha. Seriously, beware. Wifi was a pain as you always had to sign in each time (kept getting disconnected) and you had to get your account renewed every 30 hours for wifi access. Overall we rate it a 7/10. Some of the staff were not nice but others were outstanding. We did complain to the GM, and were given complimentary items to make up for the poor service and that was appreciated. Would not come back here, but appreciated the effort.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing resort

My friend and I loved this resort and were very impressed with the hotel and its services. The food was amazing, the pool and beach were stunning and the staff were so lovely and helpful. We felt extremely safe and taken care of the entire 7 days we were there. Huge bonus for the additional a la carte restaurants and water activities that were included. Also, booking excursions was such a smooth process. I 100% reccomend this hotel to everyone who wishes to have a pleasant vacation in Cuba.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice resort

The resort was clean and nice but for me personally there were more negatives than positives. A lot of the food at the a La cartes were pretty much all the same not much variety. Not much variety in drinks, mainly just rum drinks. One of the days my maid didn’t even clean my room and for two days they didn’t put more beer in the fridge. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort

This was a lovely resort in Cuba. We went at the end of June so it was very quiet and all of the guests were told to use the Royal service pool and beach in order to consolidate services, staff and amenities. All of the resort staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was quite up to date and clean and a couple of minor issues with the shower were fixed as soon as we brought it to their attention. The beach and ocean were absolutely superb. The pool was clean. The food was limited as expect [... read more]ed in Cuba but the service was good. Note that there were lots of mosquitoes in the evening so bringing insect repellent is a must.

Melia Cayo Coco: Very good place to stay and relax

We stayed in Melia Cayo Coco May 12-19. Overall, the vacation was good: the weather was nice, with a few rains, perfect beach, decent food, nice pool and activities during day and evening time entertainment. The only glitch was an alcohol: the variety was not great and, most importantly, the resort first ran out of red wine on Sunday, May 14. Then by Monday they ran out of the white wine and by Tuesday – out of sparkling wine. So, wine lovers out there – be aware! We talked to the administration rep in the Guest Experience office, they cited some delivery issues with a truck stuck for some reason or other in Havana. Whatever the reason was – fact is, they didn’t solve till the end of our stay on May 19 and we don’t know when they finally were able to re-stock they wine supply. Other than that we liked the resort: it’s clean, the staff is friendly, in the eating area there are cooking stations where chefs are cooking meat, fish or pasta for you if you’d like. Our special thanks to the entertainment team and their coach – they were young and energetic and put on a great show every night, everyone enjoyed it!

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Love this place!

I've been here before and will go again... The renovated Mare part of hotel (Luna part is under renovation) looks very nice. Everyday cleaning inside and out makes it look bright! Weather (middle June 2023) was wonderful! Three restaurants serve your needs all day! You always find something special for yourself. Entertaining was surprisingly very good comparing to previous years. I enjoyed the concert with beautiful and very talented girl who made a perfect show with Whitney Huston songs. Melia Marina Varadero: Good

Everything was great except for the food and mosquitoes. Food in the restaurants was the same as in the buffet with less options to choose. Line to get to the buffet was an bummer in the heat. Also, they might think about more entertainment options.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Amazing resort !!!

I rate this resort as the best in the area. What are you looking for your vacation while traveling from, for example, Canada to Cuba? Firsts and most of all it is the beach and the resort by that beach. This resort is fantastic and playa Esmeralda is one of the most beautiful places in Cuba for sure. The beach and all the surroundings are just pearl of fantastic, tranquil vacation place. This place went through some renovation, still going through some additional improvements and it is on the ramp up, no doubts. I strongly recommend this resort for a vacation.

Melia Marina Varadero: Worst vacation ever

I am not sure where they have the 5 star title from, but it is barely a 3 star hotel. Not sure where to start from but to say if you want to be disappointed definitely go to this hotel. Rooms were nit cleaned, sand on floor and baby bed upon arrival. All buffet and a la cart restraunts were sauna as no AC and had to eat sweating. All restaurants were full of mosquitoes and flies on the food. No small spoons in the entire hotel for a baby's mouth or desert. Had to line up for baby chairs as not  [... read more]enough. Had to line up for buffet several times. No clean tables without cutlery or napkins, service was terrible all around except the pool or lobby bar. Food warmers in the buffet restaurant not working so cold food was being served. Buffet floors were slippery saw few people fall from the grease. Public bathrooms had no toilet paper and no hand soap. Beach was never cleaned it was full of seaweed. Pool water was green and chunks of bleach everywhere including pool bar counter, not safe for kids. Pool bar was closed due flooding and pool bar had no beer had to walk to snack bar to get beer. At check out we got courtesy room due our flight was in the evening, this courtesy room was super dirty eithout toilt paper, also had no soap, no towels. We asked for towels at front desk, and we were told that in the whole hotel they didnt have any clean towels, if we wanted we couod fo back to our old room to use our own dirty towels, so we ended up dying ourselves with our own old clothes. In general this hotel is not well maintained and service is terrible so don't waste your money.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: A wonderfull resort

I have been to Cuba many times the food at this resort was the best there were no shortages the staff were great in all areas my room was clean and of course the best beach lots of chairs I had a great week and will be returning

Melia Las Americas: Very happy vacationers

Food was amazing, great variety. Staff were making our stay vary enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to get away with golfing options or any activities at the beach. Live performance was on daily bases.

Sol Palmeras: 1 week at the Sol Palmeras May 2023

Obviously, expectations will influence your experience. We expected an older resort, lack of food variety, and little pool/beach services. However, 5 guys in their 50s appreciated the impeccable beaches, beautiful weather, and friendly environment.

Melia Marina Varadero: Not impressed

There were reviews that I saw about the flies in the buffet but obviously not has been done about it. So many going all over the food and people really not sanitary and gross. Overall service was ok but customer service not available over the phone. Beach staff were doing their best to create fun and interesting atmosphere. Food not good, no chicken, fish or sea food.

Melia Cayo Coco: very relaxing resort

very relaxing, good size room with king bed, water delivered daily, great staff.. absolutely no complaints. it is however, rainy season... although rain only during the night for about an hour, the humidity did bring the "mosquitos" . best travel time is definitely in November... Great staff,very good food and plenty of it. I have been at this resort a few times and is my first choice over any other resort in Cayo Coco. Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing beach but resort was not good

Resort definitely needs a lot of renovation and improvement. Water pressure and water temperature at the room was inconsistent. Elevator knobs are broken and out of 4 elevators, only 1 or 2 are working. Room door won’t close. A lot of flies in the buffet which was disgusting. Mosquitos are so bad. You can’t even stay at lobby / bar area because of it since you’ll end up having a lot of bites. Not much food variety. Same everyday. Never had chicken nor beef. Fish only one time. Mostly p [... read more]ork. Had soda after 2 days. First day there was 2 big water bottle at the room. Succeeding days they only give you 2 small bottles. They don’t change your towels at the room daily. Room had a good view and staff were friendly. Beach was awesome though! Resort is definitely not 5 star!

Sol Cayo Coco: Nice Resort

A smaller and older hotel than others. It is definitely looking tired and worn, but the location is fabulous. Beautiful beach and a deserted hidden cove make this quiet hotel a relaxing find. Food was restricted in choice, but lots of fish, rice, vegetables. Limited salad items. The staff went out of their way to help and were all very friendly. Nice quiet background music during the day, attentive poolside bar staff, choice of four pools. Only 20 minutes from the airport.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice, clean resort

I didn't have high expectation since this is a Cuban resort, but it was surprisingly very nice resort, both my wife and I loved it. My wife is very picky about cleanliness, food, and services but she was surprised at how the clean the resort was. It is a 25 year old accommodation but it was still a beautiful place. Totally recommend it.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Excellent resort worth returning to

We were thoroughly impressed with the resort (particularly the Royal Service section with its private bar, lounge, restaurant, and infinity pool - it was absolutely worth the relatively minimal upgrade charge the front desk offered); with the staff who were all very friendly and fluent in English; with the grounds and facilities (including excellent soft sand beaches with surprisingly good coral/reef snorkeling); and with the evening entertainment (including live music earlier in the evening and [... read more] a variety of well-executed shows). The spa services were very reasonable, and getting access to the spa pool and beach for the day is worth the price of a massage on its own. One small surprise - as all beaches in Cuba are technically public access we occasionally saw a local with kids on the adult-only resort. A mild perturbance, and there was never more than one family on a beach that we noticed. Another small surprise - while the resort description states scuba is included, it is not (as of a couple of years ago). But the good news is two dives on a professional boat with good instructors is only $60 USD. If you buy a larger dive package each dive can get down to $23 each! I've never paid so little in my life. And the scuba "scenery" was very nice. Of course traveling in May the resort wasn't busy but it was pleasantly occupied and staff seemed to work as hard as they would in high season. Yes, the food offerings were somewhat simple, but there was good variety at the buffet and a nice selection of a la carte restaurants. And yes, as with all Cuban resorts there were things that couldn't be found (e.g. ketchup, orange juice) but that didn't take away from an overall excellent experience. Having traveled extensively in the Caribbean I've been to "fancier" properties, but the combination of a beautiful setting, great facilities, peace and quiet, and value for money combine to make this one of the few resorts I would be interested in going back to.
