Club Amigo Mayanabo: its awesome!
We arrived march 5,2015! We loved our room! It was always clean and tidy thanx to our room cleaner. Love the staff!! Our fave part was the croc excursion... Its well planned and enjoyed every moment of it!! Also we can have dinner at the other resorts! Loved that!
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Big Bang for the buck
Great resort, lots of things to do and see, beaches and pools are fantastic, everyone is very friendly and helpful.. Definitely exceeded expectations and would go back for a great vacation at an affordable price point!
Starfish Varadero: Beautiful Beach!!!
Overall we had a good vacation, but i will never return to this resort and i cannot recommend it to my friends. The hotel rooms reminded me of a communist hospital and it was totally worth it to pay extra and upgrade to the bungalow. The food was ok, in a sense that i was able to find fresh fruits at all times. The buffet smelled pretty bad, the tablecloths were dirty, not inviting at all (i was never excited about meal times). The beach was perfect, the weather beautiful, and the ocean calm. I [... read more]
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Resort was ok!
They have been fixing up the resort which is nice . It's clean , friendly staff , would go again but... The last few days we were there it was hard to get to the snack bar there were a lot of locals in the resort . They would go with 20 burgers at a time and big bubba mugs with lots of beer . And take them to the beach for their friends . At that time service was horrible !
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Beach
Everything was very relaxing, very clean, friendly staff . Our only complaint is the gym (nothing worked). They had one of the best breakfast resturants I have ever been to in Cuba. The grounds and beach where Besutiful.
Starfish Varadero: Not too bad
I liked the resort, our room was great. Had lots of hot water and the maid was awesome..everything about the resort was great except for the buffet..didn't like eating same food everytnite. The staff were really great, made our stay very fun.
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: First trip to Cuba, a 3 star that presents better
This is an older 3 star hotel but it is kept up and was quite clean. The staff everywhere were friendly and helpful. The grounds were nice with some areas that had extensive gardens of local flowers, cactus and wood carvings. The pools and deck were cleaned every night. The beach was white sand and the water was clear with a reef off shore for snorkelling. We paid a little extra to upgrade to a Tropical Oceanview room, well worth the money. The rooms were a fair size with a King bed and sitting [... read more]
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Decent Experience
The resort was decent looking, a bit worn down. There were four of us so we had two rooms in total. our friend's washroom was leaking from the ceiling, and our room had a few spots of blood which were never cleaned. Our friends complained about the leak and they were moved to a room with view of the pool and partial beach. But they had issues with their washroom, this time the toilet wasn't flushing properly. Also one of the white in-room towels went missing (which was odd) and we were charged $ [... read more]
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: downhill
The beach is incredible. The front desk staff are simply rude and unhelpful. The bartenders are fabulous. Lineups can be upto an hour to get in buffet as they closed one. No where to get food really at various times if you miss the two hour meal times. Shower either hot or cold and no one came to fix it. Maids are lovely. The vacationers there were so greedy and pushy like they were having their last meal. Poor staff regularly ran out of cups and food and booze at times. I have never experienced [... read more]
Carisol los Corales: Nothing special
The resort is at least an hour away from Santiago on a long and windy road. If you get motion sickness then take some Gravel. The resort itself is dated. The rooms were substandard. The beds are very hard and you will need to bring your own pillow. The pillows on the bed are paper thin. The one bed had no proper support and you had to balance yourself. The buffet is typical Cuba. The a al carte restaurants were good. The staff really make the resort enjoyable. The pool bar opens at 10 am to 5 p [... read more]
Carisol los Corales: You get what you pay for.
Average room, food below average, service poor, not enough serving people to handle it all, beach combination of sand with sharp stones, a lot of sea weeds in the sea, annoying birds flying in the dining area pooping down on the tourists and eating food from buffet tables. Swimming pool area is nice, hard to find lounge chair though. Do not take "free" trip to Santiago de Cuba. It is a rip off. Tip the staff otherwise you will be ignored. Missed food on the beach, you need to go for lunch to the [... read more]
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Will Return
This was a 1st. visit to Club Amigo in Holguin. It was wonderful. Great location, terrific staff and enough food and drinks for enjoyable stay. Will be back. Met a lot of people who had been there multiple times and have enjoyed the experience.
Club Amigo Mayanabo: CAVEAT EMPTOR
I read the reviews before purchasing this trip. I don't know what these people were thinking, it was disgusting!! Should have trusted my instinct and knowledge about Club Amigo's, never again! "BUYER BEWARE"
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Get your money's worth!
The beach was spectacular and one of the nicest I have seen. The staff were very friendly and tried really hard to be accommodating. The food was the same thing breakfast, lunch and dinner the whole time we were there. I knew to expect bland and plain as I had been to Cuba before. However the lack of variety was really disappointing. We went to 2 a la cartes and gave up after that --- the food was basically the same and the only difference being if you wanted to be served at your table. The dr [... read more]
Carisol los Corales: Dublin01
Terrible. Afraid to eat any food that wasn't cooked as there were flies over all the food. Grounds were not cleaned and garbage bins on the resort were only emptied once a week so they were always overflowing. When we arrived at the resort we were not registered at either resort. They managed to find us a room, but it was not in the resort we booked. Bathroom had a leak and there was black mold on the ceiling and walls. Our safe wouldn't work properly and we had to get someone to try to fix the [... read more]
Carisol los Corales: value for the money
As always in Cuba, there are wonderful things and things that need money invested. Some areas of the country have money invested more often than other areas. This resort is in the extreme south east of the country about 1 hour from Santiago de Cuba, and very rural in feel. It does not get the attention that Veradero gets. The wonderful things - good weather guaranteed, even in December,- snorkeling off the beach is very easy. The whole resort, however, needs investment into repairs - walkways an [... read more]
Starfish Varadero: nice resort but hotel in bad need of repairs
the hotel is very out dated but for the price we paid it was ok the food was good no better or worse than we have had in our last 8 trips to cuba.the service from all the staff was exalant the room was cleaned very good every day all in all we had a very good vacation.one bad thing was on our trip home my wifes suitecase was opened and her 300 dollar sunglasses were stolen
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: very very good clean and well looked after
this place is great the faculties and the staff looked after our every needs. we were there for three day and one friend we were traveling with past away and as the resort has reps from the Canadian consulate on site we were looked after very well and were able to bring our friend home with us. we were there for 28 days and despite our lost we had a great time.
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Away from the Canadian winter.
This was our 3rd stay at this hotel and once again we enjoyed it very much. We chose to stay in a Villa this time around and will continue to book the Villas from now on. The room was always clean and it's obvious by how hard the cleaning staff work. The food was good and for the picky eaters there is always something to choose from. The beach never disappointments. Looking forward to next year.
Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Could have been better
The hotel itself and resort was a great layout with lots of pools, places to eat and a market set up right next to it daily. The service was poor and staff was rude. The buffet was the only place to get good dining service, all a la cartes had one to two staff members serving an entire sitting. Also the maintenance staff staired at us quite often.
