Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Worry-free Complex- Explore and Enjoy
This hotel gives your tweens and teens the opportunity to gain confidence and build character and compassion. They are safe to be on their own, without parents supervising or hovering over them. Everyone looks out for each other. Leaving your cellphones at the dining table, unattended, is common practice while you leave to select food items in tne servery at Las Palmas buffet.
I suggest using Whatsapp group chat to keep your family members connected as they go off exploring the amenities. It i[... read more]s a huge complex with beautiful walkways, use the hallways that connect the buildings to cool off.
A very clean beach, waves are minimal. Relax and enjoy. Two weeks is best.

Melia Las Antillas: Pictures are very deceiving
First of all I have to acknowledge how beautiful the beach was. That was certainly the highlight of the trip for sure. Clear water white sands; it was just beautiful. We spent hours down at the beach.
Ok now the hotel itself. It’s very old and probably should be torn down and a new one built. The paint was peeling and everywhere you looked it was very dirty. The rooms were very basic which was fine but the bed was very uncomfortable and I could feel the springs in my back The bathroom was very[... read more] run down. The door didn’t shut as the frame isn’t aligned properly anymore. The bathtub is stained and dirty looking. Anytime the person above would shower you could hear the dripping on the metal ceiling above. Eventually it would drip down into our tub. It wasn’t just our tub it was all the rooms our friends stayed in as well. They were all the same. Multiple times the hotel was without water. Sometimes in the middle of a shower.
The walk to our hotel room faced the back where they must have kept all the garbage so it smelled horrible and there was constant sounds of trucks pulling in and out. It made the walk to and from the room nauseating.
The pool was in need of desperate repair as all the tiles are coming off the bottom. When you would walk they would come off and float to the surface. The other half of the pool was closed and empty for multiple days so the only option was the shallow pool. It was warm as bath water and not refreshing, with no shade at all. The chairs around the pool were set up in a place where they had the sewer vents so there was a constant smell of sewer most likely when toilets were flushed.
The food available was bare minimum and very little selection. I found myself eating the same things everyday. We were so excited to see chicken nuggets the day before we left. Not very good ones but excited to see something different for once. I know the food in Cuba isn’t the greatest but this was terrible. Although, the restaurants we had to reserve were lovely and the service was great. We enjoyed the Romantica and the Peperone.
There were a lot of locals at the hotel on the weekend and staff seemed to cater to them. We were all identified by the colour of our bracelets so they knew where we were from. Canadians were orange, Russians were turquoise, Cubans were blue.
We were constantly left waiting or ignored when trying to order drinks at the bar or coffee in the morning. The beach bar was completely different. The bartenders were always nice and accommodating.
I was disappointed in the drink selection. Very minimal. The beer was really good though.
The smoothy bar that was on the website with this amazing menu was nothing other than a lady in hut with some guava and if you were lucky maybe a mango or a pineapple depending on the day. They were served warm. So was not refreshing at all.
The evening snack bar available at night was nothing other than bread with very thin cheese which we waited over 30 minutes for 1 night.
I do have a few photos of conditions and a video of the shower. The photos online definitely paint a different picture and are very misleading as to the actual experience itself.
It definitely makes me appreciate Canada so much more and I couldn’t wait to come home.
We also did our homework and looked at the ratings and read the reviews. But I think all the locals must review the hotel.
There was one person who did stand out and went above and beyond. He was the little waiter who was also a magician. He was a delight to be around and we always tried to sit in his section.

Memories Jibacoa: ....
my recent stay at Memories Jibacoa, which unfortunately fell far below expectations due to serious service failures. As a returning guest, I was confident in booking the premium package, paying extra for the benefits and conveniences that were clearly advertised. Unfortunately, these were never provided during my stay.
From check-in, the process went wrong. The front desk did not forward our information to the premium team, leaving us to “check in” with them the next morning — only to find no[... read more] one there. Throughout the day, no premium staff were available, and we were even denied dinner service because our names were missing from the list, despite wearing our yellow premium passes. We were told that if our names had been correctly listed, we would have been seated, even without a reservation. This was not only embarrassing, but also a clear breakdown in communication between departments.
It was not until the final day that a premium representative explained the front desk error and detailed the perks we should have had all along. While I appreciate the acknowledgment, the explanation came too late to salvage the experience. The $50 credit offered is insufficient for the complete loss of the premium services I paid for.
Additionally, the departure process was needlessly stressful. The package was meant to include late checkout, yet we had to request a spare room to prepare for our flight. Within 10 minutes of entering the room, we were called and told to vacate — an unnecessary and unprofessional disruption.
As a paying customer and loyal guest, I am entitled to receive the services promised at the time of booking. This did not happen, and the inconvenience, loss of value, and impact on my overall experience were significant. I am therefore requesting a fairer form of compensation that reflects the full cost of the premium package and the disruption caused.
I trust that Memories Jibacoa values its returning guests and will address this matter promptly. I look forward to your proposed resolution
Sincerely,

Sol Caribe Beach: Disappointing experience
From start to finish, our experience at this hotel was deeply disappointing. Upon arrival, we had to wait 3 hours and 30 minutes just to get our room. When we finally checked in, the room was infested with tiny ants.
The food was another major letdown. The buffet selection was extremely limited and lacked taste. On two separate occasions, the dinner food was actually off. As a result, my husband, my 6-year-old son, and I all suffered upset stomachs — my son even vomited three times.
We did[... read more]n’t bother complaining during our stay because the reception staff never appeared helpful; they seemed disinterested in their jobs and in assisting guests.
On our last day, with our flight at 10:10 pm, we requested a late check-out. Since regular check-out was at noon, we were told we’d have to pay 20 Canadian dollars per hour to keep the room. We reluctantly paid for an extra 5 hours. Later, at the airport, we spoke to other guests from the same hotel who told us they were allowed to keep their rooms for free during their late check-outs. So why were we charged?
This inconsistency, combined with the poor service, unclean room, and unsafe food, left us with a very bad impression. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Horrible place
Horrible place to go on vacation. The beach in front of the resort is a public beach, so every day you have hundreds or thousands on local people on the beach. The beach is extremely dirty with full of cans, plastic and bags. The water is a floating garbage. One day i saw 6 poo floating on ocean. In the hotel I saw two living cockroach. Half of the tourist from hotel were also locals from Cuba so good luck on the buffet where they don't have any respect.

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Awesome Experience
This resort is definitely not a 4 star hotel! It is a 5⭐️This is my 4th trip to Cuba and this is the resort I will go to from now on! The food was amazing.. the resort was huge and there weren’t many people at this time. Although it is true that they are missing supply’s on a daily basis. For example, I have long hair and they had no hair conditioner. They were missing some key liquors in making some specialized drinks. Anyhow, the whole experience was excellent. Yes, mosquitos were present but [... read more]that is NOT the resorts fault… cannot wait to go back!

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Beautiful Hotel But Far from a 5-Star Experience
First off, I want to say that we travel to Cuba often—usually in a group of six or seven—so we’re well aware that things won’t be perfect, and we come with realistic expectations. That said, there are still certain standards you'd expect from a hotel that’s marketed as a 5-star, especially one under the Paradon chain, and unfortunately, this stay was a little disappointing.
The property itself is beautiful—everything (lobby, beach, pools, restaurants) is close together, which makes it ideal for[... read more] people who may not be able to walk long distances. For that, I give full credit. The setting is relaxing, and the layout is great.
However, the service and overall experience fall short of 5-star quality. For Cuba standards, I’d give only the hotel a 5, but service and lock of drinks and food more like 3.5.
Food & Drink:
• The buffet ran out of food quickly and often wasn’t restocked unless we complained. That shouldn’t be happening.
• Wine was only available at the buffet or à la carte restaurants—nowhere else across the hotel.
• The sangria was pre-made and tasted flat; it wasn’t freshly mixed like you'd expect.
Lobster Dinner Disaster:
We paid $150 USD for three lobster dinners, and unfortunately, they were completely inedible. The lobsters were severely overcooked—rubbery and dry—and came with just one small bowl of garlic butter to share. When we asked for more, we were told they had none left. After complaining, they brought us a substitute that looked like salad dressing, and later, butter mixed with onions—but still no garlic.
We ended up wasting the lobster because it was too dry and tough to eat without proper butter. When we raised the issue with customer relations, they refused to offer a refund, not even for a single lobster, and wouldn’t repeat the meal either.
Instead, they tried to make up for it by sending a bottle of wine to our room (which is supposed to be complimentary anyway) and inviting us to a "special dinner" by the pool and beach. To be fair, this dinner was a lovely experience and seemed like something they usually offer returning guests—but it didn’t make up for the lobster dinner disaster or the lack of accountability.
Staff & Service:
Some staff were friendly and helpful—but the bartenders, especially at the pool bar, were quite dismissive. It felt like we were bothering them just by ordering a drink. That’s not what you expect from a 5-star experience.
Final Straw – Late Checkout:
A couple of days before leaving, we asked to keep one room for a late checkout since our flight was in the evening. We were told the hotel was fully booked and it wasn’t possible—this despite the hotel being maybe 25% occupied all week. Later, we found out it was likely in retaliation for our earlier complaints, which made the whole situation worse. Instead of trying to turn things around for us as guests, it felt like they doubled down on being unhelpful.
Final Thoughts:
This hotel looks the part of a 5-star resort, but the service, food quality, and staff attitude don’t match. If Vila Gale Cayo Paredon wants to market itself as a high-end chain, management needs to take guest feedback seriously and train their staff accordingly. Sadly, I don’t think we will return to this hotel, nor would I recommend it as a luxury experience.

Mystique Habana by Royalton: AMAZING LOCATION !!
The hotel is in a very central location. It's completely new and clean. The rooms are quite large, the beds are spacious,The internet does not work very well, there are disconnections. It's only a 5-minute walk to central park and only a 10-15-minute walk to all the squares. If I ever come to Cuba again, I would definitely stay at the same hotel. I recommend it to everyone.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Decent Resort
Hotel is modern and nice. Staff friendly except for the front desk staff. They do nothing if you bring a concern. No number to call the front desk from your room.
Rooms for a 2 star rating because there is No hot water ever. Very uncomfortable to take a shower. If you ask the front desk no solution.
Food edible. Lack of varieties. A La Carte restaurants are decent. Almost an hour wait to get a pizza. They had fries twice during a 7 day trip. Barely any choices for drinks. 2 days out of 7[... read more] they had pina coladas which was decent.
FULL of mosquitoes. Bug repellent does nothing. They were fumigating which did not help. Mosquitoes were eating us alive.
Entertainment was good, however no proper theatre. Nightly entertainment was done at the lobby which could not accommodate a large crowd. Barely enough seats. Cannot get a view of the stage depending on where you found a seat. The structures were blocking the view. Super crowded and people smoking everywhere. You are being subjected to second hand smoking.
Location great. Only 25 minutes drive from the airport. Beach is amazing. Rooms are clean. Maids are super nice.
I would definitely NOT go back to this resort as there are better ones even for Cuba’s standards.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Beautiful Resort with Hard-working Staff !
This is a beautiful resort - only approximately 18 months old.
The pick-up from the airport and drive to the resort went well. Check-in went well, and we were thrilled to receive an upgrade since it was our anniversary trip. Snack bar was open so we were able to eat upon our very late arrival.
Grounds were beautiful and well-kept. Gardeners were out every day working on grounds.
Rooms were well-kept and water pressure was excellent throughout the stay. There were no blackouts at all[... read more].
Pop, water and beer were refreshed daily in the refrigerator in the room. Extra water was always available.
Staff worked very hard. Upgrading to LEVEL provided concierge service to help book restaurants and catamaran; also private bar and restaurant. Variety of food that was very tasty. Options for a la carte, as well as the buffet.
Entertainment was minimal at times in the night. Always a big screen and DJ after the performances were over.
Beach area was rocky. However, if one walked along the shore, there were areas where one could freely enter the water without rocks being present. Also natural water area to the left of the beach as another option.
Check out excursions into the town of Trinidad and hiking excursions to the waterfalls. Ensure you choose the right one because one of the waterfalls excursion is more challenging.
Overall, my husband and I had a great time and would consider going back to this resort. We normally only visit a resort once.

Playa Vista Azul: A great vacation
We went as a family of 4 in July 2025. Originally booked regular rooms and were very disappointed upon arrival. The rooms looked very run down. The buffet also looked very "sad", although in fairness, we arrived there at 8 pm.
Anyway, we didn't want to spend our vacation that way and paid for a premium room the next day.
Premium comes with an additional restaurant and priority booking at a la cart. Premium rooms are great!
In fairness, we later discovered that the food in the main buffet is[... read more] not actually bad, especially if you come at the beginning.
The beach is a bit far but it wasn't a problem for us. It is beautiful.
The grounds are well-maintained.
Staff are really hardworking and very friendly.
There was some sort of entertainment but none of us are into that so I can't really say much. We spent most of our times at the beach or in the pool.
All in all, great experience.
Food in restaurants was actually much better than I expected.
