Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful Resort

We had such a great time at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal.The food at the Buffet and Al a Carte's was delicious.The staff go out of their way to make sure you are having a great time andt he grounds a beautiful and well managed.The great thing about staying at the Luxury Akumal is you can use all of the facilities at the Coba,Tulum and Sian Ka'an resorts which are also beautiful.You will not be dissapointed if you go.Can't wait to go back!

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: An Exceptional Experience

Secrets Capri is a beautiful Resort and Spa on the beach in beautiful Rivera Maya. The facilities exceeded our expectations in every way including clean and new.. The food and food service was top notch. And resort personnel: there were staff everywhere prepared to do whatever they could to ensure a perfect vacation.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Nice, but missing something

There was much that was great about this resort: the food; the adult pool; the family pool; the pool bars; the dive centre (excellent!). The downsides included the a/c odor that seems to prevail in the rooms -- clearly outdated a/c system, as they are LOUD. The last thing I would say is that management took three tries to get our reservations correct (double beds for boys; king bed for my wife and I), even though we had to pay extra with the reservation for this.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Not a 5 Star Resort

- Check-in at the 'VIP' lobby was over an hour long with only one staff working. Other guests in line had been waiting for several hours for their rooms and problems to be resolved. - Bath towels were not replenished on a daily basis - they took the used ones, but would not leave new ones. Had to request the towels each time. - Mini fridge and bottled water was not replenished on a daily basis as indicated. Again, had to request for more water and snacks. If you happen to be in the room when sta [... read more]ff were coming around with snacks, they would provide you with one snack size bag of chips (we were a family of 4). Had to ask for extras. - Stayed on the main floor and had beach towels and clothing hanging to dry on the balcony. Few days into our stay, our balcony was drenched with water (not by rain or sprinkler system) but by a gardening staff watering the grass. Approached front desk staff about this and they gave me excuses then said "I don't know....I need to check", no apology or desire to resolve the concern. - Wanted to get our daughter's hair braided at the Spa - took 3 days to find someone to book, each time, we were told to book at incorrect locations. - Morning yoga was advertised at the beach, headed out one morning to the area advertised, asked several staff to confirm. Walked along the entire stretch of the beach and it was no where to be found. When the gym staff was asked later that morning, they contacted the instructor who first said that there was no yoga, then called back to state that it was located by a theatre (no where close to the beach) with 12 participants. - Buffet was hit and miss - sat in the same area for the duration of our stay and half the time, we had to look for a server to take our drink order. Food was not replenished quickly. - Shuttles to different areas and sister hotel was a disaster. No signage or communication indicating which shuttle was going where nor were there set times. When asking staff, they were reluctant to help or give detailed information. - Tried to book the free resort activities, asked front desk staff, public relations staff and tour operators, all who advised of different information on booking process. - Nightly entertainment was not entertaining at all. Definitely not the 5 star resort we were hoping to have stayed at and don't think we would stay at this chain again.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Very wide-spread resort.

The hotel is "dated". We had booked two adjoining rooms as we were travelling with a 22 month old baby. Both rooms ran out of hot water a couple of times during our stay. The food at this resort, compared to that during our stay at the Bahia Principe in Runway Bay in Jamaica, was not as good.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Nice resort. Great for families. Lots to do.

The resort is well placed. Lots to do and places to eat. Since it is spread out over a large area, the crowds are also spread out and their are few lineups for anything. Great water ideas for the kids and adults alike

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an review

Was there 11 years ago, and the place still looks like new. People are continuously maintaining (not just repairing). All staff are friendly and helpful. The noise level at the quiet pool needs more control (there is an activity pool people can go to if they want to have noise). The private-use Sian Ka'an beach area is noisy, with resort activities. In context, we chose Sian Ka'an over the other 3 connected resorts for quiet (adults only). The food selection is very good, as is the quality. The  [... read more]bus from the airport takes a long time (45 minutes) before departing, plus the 1 hour 45 minutes trip, adds up to a long trip to get there. The announcer on the bus was somewhat painfull as he repeated his pitch numerout times on "only do excursions through the Company he represents, as all others are inferior". Overall, it is a high class resort I would recommend to friends and family.

Catalonia Yucatan: Amazing resort

Love this resort. It is a smaller resort then we have ever stayed at but all in all it was great. The only thing is not much night life. And there isn't music at the pool which is nice which would be nice. We had ocean front room, beautiful view. Ocean is rocky but if you walk down a little ways you can get in where there are no rocks. Or wear water shoes to go in at the front of the resort. We did have one issue that our room had a bad smell from the air conditioning unit for one day but they fixed it with in a day. So not much to complain about here. The food is great, the view is great, the resort is great.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Don't hesitate to visit this resort

My husband and I stayed at the Ocean Coral March 20-24. Based on previous reviews, we had high expectations of the resort and its service. Fortunately, we weren't disappointed. We had a terrific four days at the immaculately clean resort and were absolutely blown away by the quality and selection of food at both the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable and both the beach and the pool were well maintained. Bar service at both was great. In fact, we seldom ever had to leave our loungers to get a drink. The lobby was a great place to relax, have a drink and listen to live entertainment before and after dinner. Our favorite drink, chocolate martinis, were even on the menu. They were delicious and we probably had a few too many :) The only negative was that it was very difficult to find a lounger at both the beach and pool areas. I'm not a fan of the whole towel on the chair thing but it's commonplace and hard to monitor so a practice we've just learned to live with over the years. We would recommend this resort to everyone and would love to return again sometime.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great vacation

The resort was great. We however did not think it would be a place that would involve spring break issues. Rude drunk kids were not part of our girl week and became bothersome. Security did shut them down.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Excellent Service

We thought that the hotel itself is beautiful. The service from the employee's was above average.They were also very friendly.The cleaning of the room was above and beyond.The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained.The food was wonderful. Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great vacation

This was our second time to Kantenah and we had a great time, again! It's clean, the food is good, the people are great. We had a small issue this visit with hot water the first night but the resort staff took care of it right away and the rest of our time there was excellent.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great Resort

Great food, nice layout, and loved the inland ocean lagoon swimming area. Live fish in the cannals (which you could feed with the provided feed), and live birds perched in the lobby areas. They could improve their entertainment.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Amazing from check-in to check-out

I would be hard pressed to find a resort with better staff than this resort. There wasn't a single person we met who worked there who didn't speak better English than we did ourselves, greeted us with a smile, and went out of their way. We are already planning for our return trip, it is our new standard we compare all other resorts against

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Great time in Mexico!

Staff were friendly. Resort was clean and easy to get around. Enjoyed the buffet & restaurants. Drinks were well made. Loved the abundance of towels. Bed was comfortable. Difficulty getting into shower. Maids were at rooms too early in the mornings. Entertainment was too early in the evenings.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: wonderful result but disappointing ending

Our trip to the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal was for the most part very enjoyable. The resort is beautifully appointed and will kept. It is clean, lush and people were willing to help make your stay enjoyable. There are a variety of pool types with some being smaller and quieter which we enjoyed. The food was very good with variety and many a la carte choices. It was an added feature that we could go to the two sister resorts but no one else could come to ours, which kept it less crowded. The sh [... read more]opping is limited. The activities were plentiful enough, although I would have like some watercraft choices on the resort. There are a variety of excursions. Unfortunately our trip was very negatively affected by a decision that the customer service manager made on the last full day of our stay. My husband had loosely agreed to attend a breakfast presentation offered by the “premier” guest service representative to learn about a new resort the same owner of the Bahia Principe Akumal is building in the Dominique. My husband explained that they could put us down but we would decide in the morning. The incentive was a gift for our daughter to swim with the dolphins at a reduced rate. We agreed they could call us at 7:50 am to confirm our participation. In the morning, we decided not to attend and had breakfast at the buffet. They saw us in the lobby that evening and asked if we would be coming tomorrow. My husband answered that we were going on excursions and would not. Despite this we received an unwanted wake up call from them at 7:50 asking if we were coming. We received a call the following day as well. I was frustrated because this is my only time to sleep in – on vacation – and I do not want to be sold to aggressively on holiday. I reported this to the supervisor on duty. They had me fill out a comment form and were appreciative for the feedback, which I delivered professionally. Later that day I was taking my daughter to the dolphin swim and decided to ask if we could receive a discount due to the fact that we had been woken up on two mornings of our vacation unnecessarily. They referred me to the customer service manager who had to investigate. A second manager I spoke with, when I followed up later that day again, suggested that perhaps I could have a discount at the lobby store because the dolphins were a separate company. I stated that would be fine but then did not hear back as promised. I followed up again and the first customer service manager told me that I would not be receiving any compensation because they had checked the phone records and I had not received any calls as described. With pause, I explained that I could not comment on their records, but assured them that I did indeed receive the calls. He went on to tell me again that I had not received the calls. I asked him if he was implying I was lying which he confirmed again that I had not received the calls. As tourism professional in Nova Scotia with international tourism colleagues around the world, questioning my integrity was not under any circumstance the right thing to do to any guests. This is a sure way to loose the customer for life. On my last full day I was left with the resort not interested in compensating for inappropriate disturbances but more importantly being called a liar. As a result we will not return to this resort and I will be contacting the owner to share my experience.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Azul Fives, Mexico

Our resort was amazing. The pools, beach, food was fantastic. It was a bit rocky at the beach but still loved the water. It was warm. Everyone was friendly. The workers were so helpful, kind, happy. There was a pool right at our patio door. We loved it thought the floor just outside our doors was very slippery when it got wet. Our granddaughters fell a few times. It was a bit dangerous. Our only complaint . We loved it tremendously and will go back for sure.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Amazing view

The view was amazing/ breath taking. Small quiet resort ! Not for young people wanting to party! Make sure you stay at the grand oasis. Met a couple who were way at the back of the resort and not everything was included in their package!!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Wonderful staff, incredible food, fantastic resort

We stayed over March break for a friend's wedding. Had read alot of good reviews online beforehand and was happy to find that even the best reviews didn't do the resort justice. The most outstanding aspect of the resort has to be the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a high quality stay. Make sure you practice your "hola" because you will be greeted pleasantly every time you pass a staff member. Make sure to bring your appetite to make the most out of the incredible restaurants. The Thai, [... read more] sushi and meso-American restaurants stood out for us, and the food was ALWAYS prepared excellently without a hiccup. We stayed in a deluxe poolside room which was fantastic, we were aware of some couple who weren't happy with the size our their room, however the majority were more than happy (we were only ever there to sleep anyways). If you're looking for a room beside the ocean, you probably won't find too many at this resort, but the beach area is a short walk, and you're likely to see monkeys and iguanas on your way. All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this resort to even the pickiest of vacationers.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Big beautiful resort

3rd visit to this resort and would go back again. Been to others in the Mayan, this is our favourity. Food was really good. Lots of variety and presentation was really impressive. Rooms were clean and spacious. Landscaping and connecting pathways between resorts were really handy on the rainy days. Beach was great, but windy when we were there . We were told this was unusual for the first week of March. Chairs are very hard on the beach and around the pool, but extra towel solves that issue.
