Grand Memories Varadero: Wouldn't recommend this resort

The beach was great but the rooms and food was very poor. We only received fresh shower towels once during our trip and we had to use the same beach towel all week. The food was horrible with the exception of New Years Eve. On New Years Day dinner in one of the resturants was left overs from the New Years Eve dinner.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Small Older Resort

I had read great reviews on this resort however it was not the resort for me. Unfortunately the hotel part of the resort is in very bad condition from the rooms with rust in the bath tub to musty smell in the rooms. The elevator was scary as well to get to our room. The buffet is very small. I have been to Cuba every year for the past 10 years and this was the smallest buffet I Have ever seen. There was just no selection. I found the staff to be very nice. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very warm and courteous staff

The grounds are fantastic and well laid out. The food selection at the buffet was terrific with both hot and cold items always available. The restaurant choices were many with a good variety of food. The drink choices were superb as we paid a little extra to be in the Privilege Club. We had access to fine liqueurs at the Privilege Lounge. The food se [... read more]rvice staff were wonderful and always attentive. The maids and bar staff were warm and inviting. Even the grounds keepers and gardeners. One gardener even got me a coconut! The only disappointment were the staff in charge of the catamarans. They were not very friendly and openly asked for tips for rides that were included in our package.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great family trip

The beach was beautiful. Not too many chair savers either! It was about 10-15minute walk to the hop on hop off bus. The nightly shows were great! They had a kid shows before the main show. The facilities were clean and nice. Our housekeeper was great, but my sister wasn't as lucky. She had problems getting clean towels and water wasn't given every day as advertised. Food in the buffet was good.

Club Kawama: Terrible week

This resort is under construction. There was only one dinning place to eat which was at the far end of the resort. Food was terrible. Our Room was run down and my legs are covered in bed bug bites!!!!!!

Hotel Los Cactus: 2nd time.Had a great time.

Everything was good. Grounds are beautiful. The service was very good. The food was what I expected. You have to make the best you can with the food and remember that you are in Cuba and not at home. The Italian Alicart was really good.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Better than expected

My boyfriend and I visited Blau Marina in the last week of November 2015. We stayed for 4 nights, which if we did again, would have stayed for at least a week. The hotel is at the end of the peninsula, so it was less busy and quiet. However, that makes you the last set of persons to be dropped off, or the first set to be picked up to go to the airport or go on excursions. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate at the buffet for all meals - there was a wide variety and we surprisingly always went back to our table with a rather full plate. The food in the buffet did not keep its heat very well, but other than that we found it tasty and satisfying. Our room was clean when we arrived, and the cleaning staff did an excellent job at maintaining our room. While the room blocks and grounds are not the fanciest to look at, communal areas such as the lobby, bars, beaches, main corridors were well maintained. The hotel was not crowded which we had read from previous reviews - not a lot of hustle and bustle and we were always able to find lounge chairs at the beach and at the poolside, who can find a fault in that :) We didn't go into the pool, but saw that it got cleaned every morning and looked gorgeous (we were more Beach people).

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very good resort

Not enough activities to do on the beach. More sports and beach activities equipment should be included. Need a book library with some top seller books. Vegeterian food options were not very good. We talked to the chef but he still could not give more vegetarian food options.

Melia Las Antillas: Melia Las Antillas

The resort itself needs to be upgraded, 16 years old, the rooms were decent size but need to be updated, wood dressers refinished, walls painted, etc. Pools are beautiful, ladies bathroom by pool just redone. Beach bar just reopened. Beach is beautiful. Food was surprisingly very good, buffet excellent. The front lobby needs some tile work done. Only 350 rooms, never too busy in any of the areas. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Nightly entertainment very good.

Grand Memories Varadero: Sanctuary at Grand Memories was fantastic

The resort was well planned out. Staff all helpful and informative. Clean, lots of choices for food and drink. Variety in entertainment,pools and beach activities. The sanctuary area was a step above the rest of resort and gave us an additional level of attention and services well worth the upgrade.

Hotel Los Cactus: Amazing Resort!

I went to Cuba with five other friends, and we stayed at Breezes Varadero for a week. We all a fantastic time! All of the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and willing to do anything for you. There was always something fun as well, from volleyball, bingo, casino night, live entertainment, dance lessons, beach activities...the list goes on. All of the other guests that we met and became friends had a wonderful time too. I would recommend this resort to my family and friends.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good resort with amazing staff.

We have booked the Royal Service at Paradisus Del Mar 3x in 2 years. We have noticed the quality of the food has declined since our first visit. The Royal Service pooI needs a little upkeep. I have expressed it to management. Management has changed every time we have visited. I do have to express that the service from our butler Ernesto and Bar tenders Nacho and Mila at the beach makes us return. The beach service is amazing.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great place for snorkeling

Hotel is very clean, staff is friendly. The beach is amazing! You can go snorkeling, they have boats with vests. Also they have trekking/hiking around the resort. The gym is very close and clean, friendly staff, helping. The entertainment is good, maybe sometimes a little change in the program wouldn't hurt. Various types of coffees and very good, beer was good as well. All cocktails were great. The only downside to it is the food. Not much variety and not too much. Sometimes runs out if you go [... read more] late to breakfast or lunch. They don't have butter, only margarine, the jam was not good. The hot dog also was limited, if you were fast, you got it. It was good though.. I would definitely go back as I enjoyed the time spent there and it is worth the money!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Great location, great people!!

My first visit to Cuba and I was extremely pleased with the overall vacation. The beaches in Varadero are exquisite. The Cuatro Palmas is located across the street from some excellent night-life. Big thanks to Lisa from tripcentral. Cheers

Hotel Villa Cuba: So so.

Very basic resort. Room was leaking water in spots for the whole trip. Talked with other travelers it was the same in their rooms. Location was good very close to the airport and town. Food was basic. Usually get tired of it after a few days. No variety. Best food onsite was a restaurant called bamboo. 2nd time staying at this resort because they changed the name as of 2016 New Years. I couldn't find pics or info from it anywhere otherwise I wouldn't have gone back.

Barcelo Solymar: Good and Bad Resort

the resort is basically this: Pros - great beach, lively crowd, good party scene, decent bungalow room, nicely landscaped, good staff, great location Cons - horrible food (ate dinner in Varadero every night), rooms are outdated, all public washrooms and facilities are terrible.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great quality all around

comfortable beds, clean and fairly quiet rooms. Food was very good - much better than previous Cuba trips. Lots of chairs by the pool and beach, so no mad scramble to reserve your place. Beach is gorgeous.

Hotel Los Cactus: Great time!

The grounds were neatly kept, the room was tidy, the staff was friendly and the food was good. The beach was not too crowded, but the Atlantic was freezing! as compared to the Bay of Pigs which was warm. Just a 2 hour drive to Havana--we took a one-day tour there that was quite good. The hotel gives a fair rate for Canadian--65%, which is better than the USD exchange.
