Grand Palladium Vallarta: Relaxing vacation

The hotel grounds were beautiful, well kept. There are beautiful views of the ocean from all over. Alcohol selections were superb. Great variety of food at buffets. A la carted good, Except with the first come first serve, it’s a bit difficult to plan your night if you have to wait hours for a table. Everything was very clean.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Great place

This was our second time going to the resort and we all loved it as much as the first time. Everything was great. The beach was beautiful, the rooms clean, the food was amazing and most of all the people that work at this resort are the most amazing people I have ever met.

Riu Dunamar: Beautiful resort all round

This is a large hotel resort and quite different from other Mexican resorts we have been to. Basically, everything is in one huge 4 story building. The design of the rooms and hallways is stark white which is very minimalist. Adding some colorways would give the public areas some style. Rooms were large and well furnished. In room liquor dispenser was nice. Our room was on the 4th floor, over the disco on the ground floor and some nights the thumping of the base kept us awake. The buffet resta [... read more]urant was great as was the Asian restaurant. The Italian restaurant and the Kulinarium were not great . The pools are beautiful, all 5 of them. I would have liked to see one pool designated adults only, as all the pools had kids playing. Plenty of loungers on the beach and around pools. Definitely a good family resort.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Perfect Vacation

The staff at this resort are helpful, happy and smiling all the time. Always asking if there is anything we want. The resort is beautiful with its architecture and greenery. The food is very tasty and plentiful. The drinks are cold and refreshing. The rooms are great and comfortable. I will definitely go back to this resort next year. They made us feel so welcome. Our new home away from home.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Beautiful 4 star resort

Clean. Friendly staff. Good service. Lots of fun activities to do. The food is good. Location is nice. Geared to Families and middle aged to older people. Close to airport and Marina. Short bus ride to town or 9 dollar taxi ride. Very safe area. Felt secure and safe.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Really nice place but bring Kleenex

A hotel room with no Kleenex? Good thing the OXXO was right there so I could buy some. In what universe does a person not need Kleenex? Having said that, the place was lovely. We started out in one of the new supersaver rooms. New is an overstatement. They are cobbled together with pieces from other hotels and probably recycled stuff. For instance, the mirrors were antique and the doors didn’t fit the openings. Kudos for environmentalism. Reuse and recycle! Our next room was also in buildin [... read more]g 2 but the old part. It was lovely. The beach was amazing and all the pools are great. The loungers could have been more padded. I’m also puzzled by the lack of poolside servers and the fact that you couldn’t eat at the pool, but you sure could smoke at the pool, right under the sign that said no smoking. Food was buffet. Say no more.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great modern resort!

We went to this resort mid-January and were pleasantly surprised. We travel twice a year and have seen a lot of different sites. This did not disappoint. Staff were always upbeat and pleasant. Most spoke very good english and eager to help. The food, well, if you like good mexican food as opposed to North American tacos and burritos, you are in for a treat at the Margarita restaurant. The modern decor was a nice change and everything was spotless. Ultra comfortable bed and nice sheets. We did not buy the Privilege club and did not suffer. Good service at the beach. Highly recommending this resort.

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Nice Hotel Just what we were looking for

Love this small Hotel. My wife and I were looking for something a little different this year. And we found it in this quite little resort. The food is good always something to eat. The pool at the hotel is nice with shade areas as well as sunny location for the tanners. The beach club is also very wonderful. Location is situated close to shopping and other beach's everything is a short walk or even shorter taxi ride. All in all my wife and I loved Hotel Castillo we hope to return soon.

Samba Vallarta: Beautiful spot!

Hotel location in a quiet part of Nuevo. No large shopping centres and a lot more locals which I liked a lot. Not commercialized here. Bucarius just a 30 min walk away. Very clean beach, no seaweed, and lots to do. Ride horses, rent seadoo’s, parasail, kite surf...so much. Vallarta adventuresjust doen the road. All the employees were excellent. Salvador stands out the most! Exceptional service and very friendly staff. Make sure you specify balcony if you want one. Buffet food was just ok, but  [... read more]dining a la carte was fabulous. Rooms older and dated but the area and scenery made up for it. There was night time entertainment but I found it to be just ok. They are missing a bar/nightclub for adults. The disco was usually empty or had kids. If you like the small resort feel this is great.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Perfect getaway

We loved everything about this place. I’d like to say that it felt intimate and that everything is conveniently located near the hotel. The beach is clean and love that it’s the only one with palm trees. The infinity pool feature is great for watching games and activities on the beach. Loved the two activity guys!! We played games, bean bag toss competitions, water polo, beach volleyball, water aerobics and much more. Loved Eddy and Juan at the bar. The food was good too. Always  [... read more]something for everybody. Never got bored. Breakfast buffet was great for eggs and toast and fruit etc. Only has one day with bacon though. Then the Deck restaurant always had a varied menu for lunch. Make sure you ask for the tortilla with guacamole and salsa because it’s not in the menu. At night the Deck restaurant switched the choices for different themes. If you didn’t want to order off menu, they still had some choices of foods for the buffet (pasta, pizza, salad, soups, dessert etc). We ate 2 nights at the Italian restaurant called Chianti which is included in the all inclusive (2 nights) if you stay 7 days. This was very good as well. They bring you little appetizers to try and special drinks! Nice touch. Our room was the Sunset Suite on the 3rd floor overlooking a lagoon on the street side of hotel. I felt the bed was comfortable and the temp of the room was good (I don’t think you could control it). Our ceiling fan made a lot of noise so we just turned it off. Freshly updated room and bathroom. The cleaning staff Natalia was wonderful. I had read reviews about cold showers but ours was fine and had to turn it down sometimes as it was really hot. Everyone was so friendly to us with nice smiles and greetings. There was a love DJ at pool bar on Thursday, Friday and Saturday around dinner time. Later in the evening he moves inside and plays varied dance music and hits for you to dance! I felt very safe there and felt like the staff cared about its guests. Not so great: I’d say I found it weird that the coffee supplied everywhere in the hotel was made using one of those Nescafé type machines. It wasn’t bad but I missed my brew back home. There is no snack bar where you can just grab something quick and leave back to the pool or beach. You pretty much have to sit down and eat. It would be nice to have a station with tortillas and guacamole with salsa if you want a quick bite. Other than that, I would definitely go back again. Perfect for a couple. However I did see a few families. The pool is all one level so it’s good. 2 pools. Hot tub (didn’t try it). If you have mobility issues, especially with stairs, this might not be the place for you. Stairs everywhere getting down to beach and pool, plus to your room. Both elevators were working for the people who had commented earlier in the year that they were broken. Great choice!

Allegro Cozumel: Simply nice

This recently renovated resort was small, but had a nice warm feeling to it. It had most amenities that a larger resort would have, with premium brands to be drank!! The entertainment was good. It was relaxing, nice pool and beach area! There wasn’t a lot of different food types but it was ok. I am in a wheelchair and everything was flat or had ramps except my room and bathroom.. but we made do.. thank you

Las Brisas Huatulco: Beautiful!

We were a two couples (ages 55 to 65) from rural Ontario, looking for sun, interesting landscape and culture, relaxation, water sports, good food and comfortable accommodations. Las Brisas Huatulco more than met our expectations. Whether a la carte or buffet, the food was varied, fresh and delicious. Friendly service always and very hard working staff, including the activity coordinators. Set on a hillside in the Sierra Madres, the modern, warm architecture of the resort presents breathtaking views of the nearby bays and coastlines. Lots of stairs and steep walkways, but always 6 seater shuttles available, rarely with any wait time. So no complaints from us. Highly recommended.

Secrets Huatulco: Amazing resort fantastic beach!

The resort and it's amenities are 1st class all the way. A'la carte restaurants are wonderful but the dinner buffet is not very good. Breakfast buffet is perfect and the hours of operation are very accommodating to all guests.Rooms are very spacious grounds and buildings are kept impeccably clean and gorgeous plantings surround the property. On a personal note, my wife had a terrible accident on the grounds during our visit that ended in her breaking her ankle. She stepped in a hole in the g [... read more]rass that had grown over and was undetectable to sight that resulted in her injury. When reported to the resort concierge, they responded with a very lack lustre response. They showed little to no empathy towards her injury and told us if she requires medical support we were responsible for the cost. I found this very odd as to the injury was a result of the resorts negligence of maintaining the grounds in a safe condition or visibly identifying the hazard as to avoiding an injury. When the doctor examined my wife he was very professional and quickly tended to her pain and prescribed medicine to aleve her pain. I was very surprised we were never offered any compensation as result of the resorts negligence and no representative from resort management contacted us, very odd in my understanding. In closing I am moving forward to investigate some kind of future compensation from the resort or Sunwing because the resort upon our departing had still not done any action to restore or correct the hazard. Tread carefully in the future is the lesson we are taking away from this experience.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Grand Palladium

Great areas to relax was nice seeing the animals daily and the food was very good. Also was cool seeing the whales offshore from the pool and beach. The resort is a great size which makes easy to find your way around

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: Great resort!

We stayed at Grand Palladium White Sand Resort for our winter getaway again this year. The food is really high quality and we particularly like the number of restaurants between the three resorts to choose from. Restaurant reservations are not required aside from the Japanese and Seafood restaurants, which is great and allows us to leave the clock behind in true vacation style. We really enjoy the Thai restaurant and visited twice during our ten day stay. The beach area is good although quit [... read more]e rocky in front of the White Sand part of the resort. Mexico is dealing with seaweed issues I guess, and many of the days staff were "bailing up" the seaweed with tractors along the water's edge. I'm not sure why, but this issue seemed to lessen later in our trip and we were easily able to take our long walks on the beach each afternoon. The junior suite is very comfortable and beautiful. We enjoyed the large jetted tub and cozy King bed. Unfortunately, both times at this resort I became sick with "traveler's revenge" so would recommend visiting your doctor for something before you travel.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Service Questionable

We traveled to this resort during family day vacation and Valentines. For a resort this size I don't feel there is enough staff to accommodate the guests. I found the staff borderline unfriendly except for a few who made up for the rest, and we usually find the Mexican people friendly and witty. The rooms have all been renovated and are very nice but the resort is very stingy with the air conditioning and the rooms were stuffy at night for sleeping. You could not adjust the temperature. The  [... read more]buffet is very repetitive and the a la cartes were alright but not over and above. You must book your a la cartes the very first day you are there or you will miss out on what you are after. You have to book with concierge of your building who at the very least was very abrupt with us since he was trying to upsell and we were not interested and he didn't take kindly to it. The beach as with most beaches in Mexico was not great for swimming but good for snorkeling. We left this resort disappointed, which is a first for us since we have traveled to many resorts and have never encountered this level of service or should I say lack of.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Another beautiful Grand Baha'i resort!

The grand Bahai Tull was great. We were very close to the beach. The beach area at our end of the resort was nice, only two palapa so deep. The swimming is a little precarious as there's a coral reef which the coral washes up from and some large rocks in the shallow areas but if you snorkel then the reef is amazing. Little fish, big fish, sting rays and little sharks!! Bring beach shoes and your floating device and you've got it made. The staff cleaned the beach daily. The best thing was there w [... read more]asn't mobs of people on the beach. It's definitely an area that has so much to do if you like touristy stuff. Food was excellent and the staff was nice.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Family fun

We went to a Sandos with our two kids. There is so much to do. We loved all of the animals we got to see (monkeys, cats, coati, petting zoo area). There are so many trails to walk on that are within the mangroves. Snorkeling in the Cenote and Jade river were a highlight. Beach is nice but rocky so water shoes are a must. Our room was nice and overlooked the jade river with a very large balcony. The downsides of the resort for us were the food and smoking areas. The food was very repetitive at th [... read more]e buffets and a la carte. And the kid menu was blah (hotdog hamburgers). The Mexican restaurant was closed which was disappointing. There are designated smoking areas throughout the resort yet people walked around smoking without the rules being enforced. Smoking locations were right beside the pool and game area which was not pleasant with the kids.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: This is my absolute favourite resort in Mexico

I've been to multiple resorts in Mexico and I like this one the best. It's located in a small gated community that contains private residences and a few other hotels all on the water and marina. Other Amenities in Puerto Aventuras are a Golf course and Multiple Marina locations for fishing and Dolphin swimming. All of which can be accessed by Golf cart or foot. Very safe and very friendly. The resort itself has some of the friendliest staff and Food is top notch. It's very well put together, cle [... read more]an and the entertainment staff are great. Beach is nice and water calm and great for kids or Adults alike. It's very clean and the restaurants are all very unique. Now it is my favourite resort to take my kids. Its small and safe, your kids don't need to be kept on a short leash. They can roam around freely and if you have very small children the Explorers club gives mom and time to relax if you like, at no charge. It's full of fun activities for the kids and they enjoyed it when they were younger for sure. If you after a huge resort with a million people it's not for you . But if your after a great time in a smaller but well kept resort this is for you. However the standards are very high and the people are the best. It has an adult side and a family side if you want the best of both worlds. Dreams has a very high standard. I've been here with my kids 8 times and will return again. It's like our home away from home. It's a short ride to Playa del Carmen and a short ride to Tulum. It's right in the middle. It also has Dolphins right at the resort. And Manitess a short distance from the resort. Theres also a really cool Barber shop right around the corner. Highly recommend this resort for all ages. Big night life just a short ride away to Playa aswell.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Beyond Wonderful

This hotel is outstanding. We found the setting the best of three worlds. The lovely hidden walk through the area we dubbed the rain forest, the lawns and strutting peacocks doing their stuff and the amazingly beautiful, pristine beach. Our room including the bathroom was lovely. Never stayed on the ground floor before and we loved it. All in all a great experience!
