We took our family to this resort for a week. Age range 3-66. There were 10 of us.
Good: fantastic tasty, amazing variety of food at the buffet. Service was awesome. Tables accommodated us all at 1 table. The beach club had great fish and chicken fingers also with many others fresh options for lunch. Delicious. Also great service.
So many places to explore. Lots of pools and chairs. Beach was awesome with snorkeling and fish in the protected swim area. Lots of activity made the water murky [... read more]at times. Beach was perfect for our 3,7,8,9 year olds. Pools were cool but swimmable. Ocean was warmer than the pool.
All areas were very clean.
Entertainment was very good. Kids participated in the Moana show.
Trolleys were plentiful and reliable. There was a lot of walking and as the week progressed we found shorter routes to the places we wanted to go. The walk on the beach from Akumal to Tulum resorts was easy and enjoyable about 10 minutes. Swimming with dolphins was at Tulum. Bonus.
Staff was amazing everywhere. Helpful and friendly.
The kids really enjoyed the animals. Iguanas, coatis, and little brown no tailed “wumps” we called them. Were everywhere. They ran if approached so didn’t bother anyone. Fun to watch. People fed them and the coatis would get close with feeding. We did not feed them.
Down side: big resort that had lots of walking. We love to walk so it was fine and the walkways are well kept and maintained so no issues with getting around. Trolleys were available and reliable arriving about every 15 minutes and picked up along the way if you decided not to walk. Priority was provided for those with mobility issues, the young and old we found.
Rooms were a bit tired but clean. Our bed was comfortable but our daughter found hers hard. The sitting area turned into a bed so was great for the kids.
Overall great resort that we were happy to experience for the 2nd time. Great kids pool areas at Tulum and Coba resorts which were accessible by trolley or on foot.
Our group divided and did Ek Balan tour which was amazing. Deep sea fishing also good and dolphin swim-amazing.
Should you require medical attention it is available at the market, also accessible by trolley on the resort. It was very good too.
We really enjoyed our stay. We will return.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Enjoyable trip
We enjoyed our stay and Bahia Principe Grand Coba. We were there for New Year's Eve and was impressed with the big party they prepared. We also liked the 3 story units with 8 rooms on our half of the building on our floor versus a big hotel experience.
We were disappointed there was only one volleyball court that was shared amongst the 2 hotels. It would be ideal if a second volleyball court for children was added so people who know how to play volleyball could enjoy the game.
The drive [... read more]from the airport was longer than expected.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Top notch guest services
From the moment we arrived, everything was organized and the staff was extremely friendly, polite, and professional. The hotel décor itself is a bit dated, but it was cleaned well and comfortable. Overall the food was tasty with many options available. Overall very impressed with how attentive the staff was, and in particular our guest service representative, who made sure to check in with us everyday and truly made our stay enjoyable.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good time!
My boyfriend and I had a great time at Coba, however we had no idea how large the resort was.
We had to change our room after the first day because we had a broken toilet, no hot water or pressure and we seemed quite far from the 2 main pools.
The front desk had someone fix the toilet immediately and they moved us without any issues.
We didn't love having to take the shuttle to the beach but it came regularly so it wasn't that big of a deal.
The best thing about the resort was the food and d[... read more]rinks.
We got lucky with good weather which made it even better.
We three families total 6 people recently visited above resort had very frustrated experience never recommend anyone. The expectation we had when left Toronto for that resort was very high as previously we visited the same resort in punta Cana but it was wastage of our money as well as vacation some managerial staff was cooperative but they had no power to make decision

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Disappointing experience at Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica
Since we are now back from our trip to Jamaica (that we booked with Trip Central), we would like provide our feedback and express our disappointing experience with Grand Bahia Principe, Jamaica.
We booked three rooms from February 2nd to February 9th, 2024 for ourselves and our two friends i.e. three couples - six people in total.
1) On Feb 1 evening, a day before our departure on Feb 2, 2024, we found out (something that we wish that Trip Central had advised us earlier) from one of our [... read more]friends about the Bahia app which once downloaded, can be used for express check in to avoid line ups at the hotel lobby on arrival as well as booking dinner reservations for restaurants at the hotel in addition to other features.
After struggling with the app for a considerable amount of time, we finally were able to check-in by uploading our pics and entering the requested info in Bahia app.
Unfortunately we could not do anything else with the app as our booking number (provided by you) was not working. The following day while at the airport, Steve Langstaff, our contact at Trip Central also confirmed via email that he too could not get the app to work.
Thus, as mentioned above, all we could do in advance was at least check in and we hoped that this would enable us to facilitate a quick and timely check-in.
2) After reaching at the hotel lobby, we did not see any separate designated line for guests who have already checked in, therefore we ended up waiting for about 45 minutes when we finally got attended to and got our room keys. This was a very frustrating experience as there was no order at the check in area and many guests just proceeded to go ahead of other guests to check in.
3) Unlike the others, our room was extremely cold. We attempted to change temperature settings, however not knowing how, we gave up. We did use the blanket in the room as we were exhausted from our flight from Canada. Next morning we asked the staff who do housekeeping and they assisted but I guess they too didn’t know. We then requested additional blankets.
Finally frustrated, we requested front desk to send someone on the Sunday of our trip (as nothing was changing the temperature). We spoke with someone named George who advised to go and wait in our room and he would send someone to check the settings. We waited for over 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours and no one showed up. We proceeded to call three times during our wait asking was anyone coming. We were told repeatedly someone would come. Finally we gave up and came back down to the lobby and spoke to guest services who said she would send someone but while looking in system said nothing had been entered on their system indicating an issue. Again we waited and while waiting noticed a person walking in the hallway. We asked if he was there to check temperature setting - he said he was maintenance but wasn’t there for our room - but he finally assisted in explaining how to operate the temperature controls. The fact that no one was able to assist and or explain was beyond frustrating.
4) On Saturday, we had booked an all day excursion trip to Negril via Coming2 tours ( booth in the hotel lobby area) and also had a restaurant booking at restaurant - The Knife at 9pm. Unfortunately due to stormy/rainy weather, we did not make it back to the hotel until 9:15pm. We went to guest services upon our arrival back to the hotel and asked if she could check from the restaurant if we could still go for dinner. She ( Taneesha) said she would check and let us know via telephone in our room. We waited in our room changing our attire for dinner. Unfortunately no phone call came from guest services. We called a few times however no one was answering the phone. So then I decided (wife was still getting ready) to go back to guest services and see if any advices from the restaurant. When I got there and spoke with the same person (who was busy laughing on the phone) she said who are you and I asked why haven’t you called our room to advise. She said yes, we could go to the restaurant- the Knife - as per her checking. We went to restaurant and as four of us are vegetarian, we requested the various vegetarian options and were told they had none of those available as it was late.
We were very disappointed as if they were not able to accommodate the guests and provide the options noted on the menu then we should have been advised accordingly to go to the buffet restaurant instead.
5) While chatting with another guest at the hotel, we realized that we should try to talk the front desk as she had done - specifically Michael Darby. We then did proceed to talk to Michael and he said he would talk to his Manager (I think Mr. Naroo was his name ) who would then call us to discuss our concerns further. We never did hear from the Manager. However, we did speak to Michael again and he then said to also talk to the Guest services person (Damian Redway) who we then explained the whole process of our above mentioned frustrations again.
We also explained to Damian, that we are repeat guests at the Baha’i (we have booked the Esmeralda at Punta Cana & the Bahia in Mexico) and felt very frustrated at the whole process and had felt (unlike the great comments from travelers of having a great holiday in Jamaica) very disappointed overall.
We also explained we had come to celebrate our anniversary and birthday of spouse of our friend and there was no recognition of any of these events or that we were repeat guests. Damian Redway confirmed that Trip Central/you did provide notes on our reservation of being repeat guests and intent to celebrate our anniversary and birthday, however these notes were ignored by the hotel entirely at check in.
Damian asked if we had been provided any recognition (banner, champagne). We said no! He did ask if we wanted now and we felt that as it was now Wednesday it was pointless as we were leaving on Friday.
6) We also had requested rooms near each other and unfortunately that too did not happen! Our friends couple were given room # 23311 while we were given # 23323 and other couple friend room # 23325. First couple had issues with the safe ( not functional) and shower so then upon advising the front desk were finally moved to a corner room 23327. It was closer however not similar to ours which frustrated them even more.
We also want to comment on the food which we found very mediocre at best and the vegetarian options minimal. It would be helpful if a vegetarian section of soups and other items were to be provided.
We feel that our overall experience has left us definitely disappointed with Jamaica and especially with the Bahia Principe, which we do not feel we would go to again.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Disappointing
The room was great, clean and well kept, the service was mediocre to say the least one or two were motivated the rest didn't seem at all interested even though we tipped well at every meal. The resort was very well kept but overrun with cat's, you couldn't eat at the open restaurant's without them walking under your table begging for scraps most of them were pregnant so it's going to get a lot worse, we even had a dog just stroll into the restaurant, none of the staff tried to remove them or cha[... read more]se them out. I would not go back to this resort.
Service was terrible, from front desk, customer service and managers!
The service in the buffet was even worse! Food was always cold and not cooked, even coming right out of the kitchen! Allacart restaurants we not even decent. As for the rooms, multiple rooms including ours was infested with bedbugs!,,,,,,,???
You couldn’t even get near the beach, so congested no chairs.
I would not refer this place to my worst enemy!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great Get-Away!
This Hotel was a wonderful choice!. This vacation being a little pricy it didn't disappoint.
The people here were very accommodating, they could never do enough for you!..as for the hotel itself, the grounds were well kept, the whole resort was pretty much spotless, they were always cleaning, painting, polishing the brass fixtures......etc., always ? smiling. It was not hard to see that many of the people are return customers because they are called by name and hugs are plenty!.
Our room was [... read more]updated 2018 with swim up, it was super nice to have when you have had enough of the main pool or beach.
Food was good...we didn't do the "a la carte" restaurants, as we prefer the "buffet". We did hear that people were enjoying them, but they found it difficult to book them. Their website/ app for here needs improvement. Wifi was included, and worked rather well!.
The beach is beautiful, soft sands, warm water, lots of seating with or without covering. Sadly, it is suffering increased erosion and becoming unsafe in spots, they have it marked and working on a solution. The pool was nice and quite large, kept very clean, loud at times but still fun!.
YES, people still put their towels out early to have the best area. YES,,even though it is frowned apon....
We are definitely happy with our choice to stay at Bahai Principe Luxury Ambar.
We recommend this resort and will return again someday!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Okay Resort
The resort is very clean and well kept. Housekeeping services for rooms was excellent. The major downfall of the resort was the food in the buffet Many of the food trays appeared to be brought out night after night Ie beef strips. One night turkey was being carved and served as a feature. It was all gone in 45 minutes and the server advised there was no more turkey available!!!!! Evrntually they brought out some chicken but even that was limited. Someone grossly underestimated the amount o[... read more]f turkey required when the resort was apparently nearly full. Thankfully they had pasta-pizza etc available every night. Overall the food was a disappointment compared to other resorts I have been to. Our room was directly opposite the lobby of the Boganville lobby which was a turn around point for the shuttles being operated by the e hotel. Everytime they backed up the reverse alarm would start beeping which sounded like an alarm clock going off No sleep for the first two nights After complaining strenuously I finally got to speak to the person who supervised the shuttles and he was able to quiet them during the night but they would start up at 7 AM. Would have been nice to sleep in a bit while on holidays. MY ADVICE. Avoid building o 32

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Disappointed
Not the best for seniors. Pool Loungers difficult to get out of. No chairs to sit. Buffet food was cold. Rooms dated. Staff were excellent. Grounds beautiful. DO NOT TRUST the team selling adventure packages, they lie. He sold a parasailing package claiming 3 people can go, but were told by the operator only 2 can go at once. We booked the surf pool and was told they would charge it to the room once it's used. It was charged to the room immediately with no refunds. Won't be returning

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Wonderful stay at Sian Ka'an and Bahia Principe complex
The Sian Ka'an is an adults only resort. It is part of a larger complex of Hotels all managed by Bahia Principe. You can visit Tulum, Akamal, Coba during your visit. They have electric trolleys that run constantly throughout the resort on dedicated routes. Usually it takes 10 to 15 mins to get a trolley or less. There are 17 a la carte restaurants and 4 buffet restaurants throughout the complex. Each resort has a show every night and they are all very good. We saw the Circus, Urban, and 80s show[... read more]. Unfortunately we missed the Origin show, book in advance. The food is top notch, well prepared, and very fresh. No one in our group had stomach problems. Hot food is kept hot, cold food is kept cold. The a la carte restaurants have unique menus and excellent service. It is very much a fine dining experience. Foods included seafood raw and cooked, meats of all kinds, cheese and cold cuts, salads, vegetarian meals, Mexican food, Chinese food, Indian food, Japanese food, Italian food, etc.
Bars are everywhere and well staffed. While a tip is not mandatory, staff do appreciate the tips. We tipped at the buffet and a la carte restaurants. We tipped both the waitresses and the bartenders at the bars. Not for every drink, but every so often.
The resort is very well maintained, the pools and grounds are kept clean. Staff are very nice and friendly. Animation staff were plentiful and interacted with guests. The lobbies are beautiful and they have special events for guests in the lobbies. Special foods, special drinks, Superbowl promotions, etc. There are activities for guests throughout the day. If you want to keep busy, they have lots to do. I recommend the bike tour. They even have a dolphin pool where you can swim with the dolphins. It's a nice tourist experience, but keeping dolphins in a pool is not ideal.
I would say this is definitely a premium resort. The guests were all well behaved, no rude or drunk behaviour. Everyone was polite and friendly.
If I had to point out a couple things to improve it would be the 24 snack bars were not well staffed late at night and the rooms, while well maintained, are starting to look a little dated. The hotel opened in 2010 so it may be time for room decor makeovers soon.
Be aware that they are building a 900 km train route near the hotel. It is sometimes noisy even at night. Bring ear plugs if you think it might keep you up at night. The construction has nothing to do with the hotel, it is a government project.
If you plan to swim in the ocean you may want to bring swim shoes to make entry and exit easier. It is a little rocky. No seaweed to speak of and the water was clean and warm.
The bus ride from Cancun was 2 hours including stops. It makes for a long travel day so be prepared.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: 5 star resort falls short
The resort had beautiful buildings and the bloomless landscape was in winter season so could not be rated. The rooms were old, the mattress was terrible and should have been replaced five years ago. The shower/tub was slippery and not suitable for seniors. The housekeeping staff left the laundry and trash in the villa lobby which I found distasteful. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Never lets us down.
This is our 8th trip to the Bahia Ambar in Punta Cana. We are never disappointed. The food is great, even in the buffet. Lots of food options.
Great staff and activities.
This is a huge resort but the trams run all the time. St the most, we waited 5 minutes for a ride.
The hotel rooms, grounds, swimming pools, entertainment facilities, beach and grounds keeping were wonderfully kept and plentiful. The foods at the buffets were plentiful and offered many choices. The largest disappointment was with the large number of registered guests greatly outnumbering the available space and facilities to a point that long lines occurred for seating at meals, dinner plates were unavailable until kitchen could retrieve in used plates for washing for guests awaiting dinnerw[... read more]are and cutlery after waiting in long lines to access the room and be fortunate enough to find a vacant table even if still soiled. The lounge chairs around the pools were plentiful however were greatly outnumbered by the amount of guests trying to obtain one. The amount of shade available around pools was sparse and as such lounge chairs were in most parts subject to far to much sun. The beach area was always overcrowded with people trying to find space with an unoccupied lounge chair. The ocean was usually quite rough as it is open to the full sea.
