Tukan Hotel Playa Del Carmen: Great Resort

Where to start.....with our All-inclusive Air Canada Vacations (Black Bracelet) was really surprised at what we got for the price. We stayed for a week in the center of the Action.....restaurants, bars, shopping, with the beach only a 10 minute walk away.... We arrived to the RECEPCION, asking if we would like to have a bigger room as we were 3, 2 guys and a girl...for a very affordable upgrade, we got a 2 bedroom, bathroom, on ground floor, with patio and hammock....right beside the pool in the [... read more] center court.. Our Room #206.....for the affordability factor of the trip don't expect marble floors, etc. If your here on vacation, you are only in the room to change, shower ,or sleep. Beds are hard.....pillows are small, bedding, but you can ask for more if you need.. Maid service daily, but you do have a tag you can place in the door if you do not want to be disturbed. Always had hot water, Really good water pressure.....Air conditioning good, but keep at 22, any lower you could catch a head cold. Where our room was situated, your really close to reception. Can hear the Music from the restaurant but that finishes at 10, 11 o'clock... If you have an all-inclusive, don't be scared off about having to sign a Bill they bring you....it is only for Administrative purposes. We were not even asked for our Credit card when we checked in, so no way of tracking transactions of what you eat or Drink. (Will explain more below) Eating....Choices with Premium All-Inclusive.... La Cieba - across from the El Tukan...They serve Buffet style foods, Limited selection, but decent....I recommend going for Breakfast here only. When you walk in you must present your room key....(normal practise in all restaurants with all-inclusive) La Tulipanes....This is an a-la-carte. You can have Breakfast, Lunch and Supper here. Good Food......and great service. It is a sit down meal not buffet. Living Bar.......With all-inclusive....you are limited only to the snack menu and unlimited Drinks....You can ask for specific spirits, tequila, rum, vodka, gin, and mixed drinks...ex. my friend loves Grey Goose, and Keter vodka....no problem....beer is Bud or Bud light, Corona, or Corona Light... Ask for Caesar (Server) Legends Sports Bar.Ask for Renaldo (Server). Great Selection of food, from Caesar Salad to Amazing Chicken Noodle Soup to Ribs, or even Chicken Wings. Portions are good. All you can drink again...... Kool Beach Club......Great Place.. Mimta's Beach...shuttle to and from the beach... or walk 15 minutes. All-inclusive Drinks, but snack or food not included...Ask for Victor or Blanca as your Server.... So in closing, (Get the All-Inclusive-Worth it) (Black Bracelet) don't be afraid about signing for anything at the above locations...you can tip but that is up to you....don't mark anything on the bill....all you do is sign...you will not be charged. 5th Avenue is so close. Great for people watching..... Sorry it came to an end. Can guarantee we are going back... Room Tip: Ground Floor much better

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fantastic Resort

The grounds are immaculate and so beautifully maintained. The staff are friendly and very attentive to your needs. The food is very good and although the beach is not the best it is not the worst either and the pools are wonderful.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Most amazing beach !!

First off the most amazing beach I have ever seen! You could walk for miles both ways and clean white sand and beautiful turquoise water. Our room was clean and quiet. Food and drinks were great and service on the beach and in the beach restaurant was wonderful. We did pay to "upgrade" to Privilage but I really don't agree with it. When you arrive and see the tier system it's really not necessary. I believe everyone should be treated equal when at resorts and if you want a higher class resort th [... read more]en book that. However if we did not upgrade we were not allowed to sit under the huts on the beach, nor eat in the restaurant near the beach. Overall it was a nice resort. and I would return for the beach alone !!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good and Bad

The staff were friendly - food was excellent. On the down side of our vacation, our trip was booked for 3 - when we finally arrived at our hotel our room was only set up for 2 people (it was like that all week- even after calling front desk and speaking with housekeeping). In our room was a bar fridge that was supposed to be stocked - again it was only stocked for 2 people. The night we arrived my daughter took a beer out of the bar fridge and it had already been opened and half drank - therefor [... read more]e housekeeping did not check the bar fridge correctly - also our bar fridge was only stocked twice the 8 days that we were there. Our shower in our room was completely broke - I called front desk 4 times before someone came to fix it (they came on the 4th day to fix it) - the knob you pull up to turn on shower was not attached - you went to pull up for shower and the knob came right off. Sadly my daughter had her cell phone stolen from the Disco 2 nights before we left - her phone had all our vacation pictures on it - 2s night before that she had her white hooded sweater stolen from the Disco - they really need to amp up their security - both myself and my 2 daughters are heart broken over the guys that stole her cell phone. We reported what happened but we will never see her cell phone again or sweater for that matter. The hotel stores were extremely over-priced - we paid 42.00 US dollars for 2 sun lotion (we are Canadians so we really got hit) - we bought a blow up chair for the pool - it was 24.00 US dollars (dollar store quality). A bag of Hostess Munchies chips were 11.00 US dollars and Chee-tos 9.00 US dollar . There was apparently extra activities to do on the resort - ride bikes, kayak but we never found them or was told about them .

Barcelo Maya Colonial: great resort with kids

We traveled with two toddlers, 16 months and 3 years old, so our experience reflects that. We generally liked this resort: -the beach was great, as were the pools with waterslides (our 3 year old loved them!) -the grounds were very large, so a lot of space to walk around However, a few things that could have been better: -the food was poorly labeled - being vegetarian, this was a problem -the entertainment started very late - again, this was a problem only because our kids went to bed around 8- [... read more]8:30pm, it would have been nice to see some sort of entertainment that they could enjoy a little earlier (e.g. live music in the lobby) -the shows in the theater were VERY loud - even after our kids were asleep in the stroller, we were hesitant to go watch it because of how loud it was.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Worth going back to

This year marked our 8th year in a row at Akumal. The resort has morphed from a 3-star to a 5-star resort, while still maintaining the personal touch of a small destination. Coming back to this laid-back place feels like home. The staff are welcoming, as is the food, the beach, and the fish out on the reef.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: I would go back!

Clean, friendly, great food and drink! Several pools and plenty of loungers in and out of shade. Rooms are nice and well stocked. You can even catch a shuttle into Playa Del Carmen (runs a few times daily.) This is shopping on site as well. There are plenty of opportunities for excursions to book right on sight.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort - Excellent

This resort ticks all the boxes. Nice ocean view rooms. Great restaurants and service. Good entertainment . On a really nice stretch of beach. Premium drinks . We loved the Sushi bar. No need for dinner reservations .

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Great Place, Great Food & Service.

Grounds were fantastic. Everything was very well kept. The restaurants, service and food was fantastic. We travelled with a party of 8 and did have trouble with getting seating for dinners. So, accommodation of larger groups is something they should improve upon. Sand and beach were great. You were able to walk the beach for quite a distance. Downfall was red flags for the whole week we were there. We were upgraded for free to a beach room which was great. The rooms however could use minor upgra [... read more]des to upholstery - bench, bed and couch. Other than that great! Lastly, one thing I found strange for a nicer resort like this is there were no bar menus. For someone that doesn't drink much, I always like to look at drink menus to pick out different drinks to try. This resort didn't have them so you were on your own. Over all, I would recommend this resort.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort

The only complaint I would have is that our room did not smell fresh and clean. Everyone commented on the smell when they entered. If I go back to Grand Sirenis I would definitely not accept Rm 1104 and would request to see the room being assigned to me. Other than that the grounds, food, staff were excellent.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Great Resort!

We were trying to decide between this and the "Royal" as we wanted to be downtown....I think we made the right choice especially for the cost...the service was fantastic....the food better than average (especially the Italian restaurant)...and our room was gorgeous....our only "nitty" issues were...draft beer and wine not so great...shows were at 8 PM which conflicted with dinner...and....make sure you know what you are asking for when you choose your room....Ocean "View" (which we got) was beau [... read more]tiful a room but was not what we expected...make sure you ask for Ocean "Front" if you "really" want to see the ocean....overall we loved our stay...

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great beach, very clean hotel, friendly service

High rating on service, hotel staff, very clean.. excellent beach (probably one of the best with snorkelling and coral reef right there), nice rooms,.. what prevented 5 stars? steak at Brazil restaurant was served almost raw.. sent back and wasn't great. the wifi wasn't free and only one device at a time could be activated ($45US week), the air conditioner broke 3 different days. the arrival staff didn't give us any info on shows, activities, restaurants, big gym location, other amenities.. it' [... read more]s also 80 minutes from airport.. I stated at Royaton Hideaway in November and it was a superior hotel in every way. including drinks served on beach, hammocks on beach, lunch served at your table, not buffet, .. if you want the little extras, don't stay here.. if you are okay with these things, then it's a great plac..

Reef Club Playacar Beach: Very good resort

Most enjoyable hotel at this price range.Lovely location in the mids of a jungle,very picturesque location.excellent food, grounds well maintained. Spacious rooms, staff very friendly and helpful, would recommend to Anybody. Only Vacation Club sellers pushy and annoying.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Wonderful resort

Staff were so welcoming and friendly, the food was fantastic including each buffet meal, and the special coffees were great! You did not have to get up at 5 to reserve a spot at the beach as there was plenty of room and recliners. Thumbs up to Air Transat staff as well.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Great Resort

The resort itself it very clean, well-kept and is a great vacation spot. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily. The only negative thing is the food. While there is a huge assortment of food that would satisfy anyone's palate, the food is just warm, not hot. The selection of food is amazing, but cool vegetables and meat are not appetizing.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful resort

The grounds were exceptionally well kept and everything was very clean. Nice restaurants with very good food. Staff was very friendly and hardworking. Resort was quite a distance from the airport and the rooms were a bit musty but clean.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Unbelievable, amazing resort. They aim to serve .

It was an amazing resort. The best I have attended, better by far than a cruise. All staff seem very happy and available at all times. The shows were great, and the Mexican night and Oscar event were fabulous.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Wonderful resort!

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Royalton. We had a beautiful ocean view junior suite with roof top jacuzzi which we used several times (weirdly you have to have maintenance fill your tub). Resort is gorgeous and food excellent. My only regret is that we didn't upgrade either to diamond club or adults only section. The pool area could get quite noisy. All in all a great time

Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Amazing resort

Very nice family friendly resort with a nice beaches and lot of restaurant varieties, staff are very helpful, rooms are spacious and well furniture Animation team is very good. Food presentation is more than good . we will go again .

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent Resort!

The Resort grounds were very well maintained and beautiful. The public washrooms were very clean. Our room was immaculate and always cleaned twice a day.The a la carte dinners were amazing as well as the breakfast and lunch buffet.Overall I would not hesitate at all in returning to this resort.
