VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice even resort

We returned home again from the Gran Ventana this has been our 9th time there.We were celebrating our 32 anniversary and my husbands birthday. We were upgraded to a junior suite with ocean view received a fruit basket and a bottle of rum. Our room is always clean and the maids very pleasant and friendly, most we have come to know over the years and still see many of the same faces every time we return. They buffet provides a variety of foods always something to choose from. Ala carts are good and have changed it up abit always for the better.The beach is clean lots of new lounger this year and was much needed.All the same vender on the beach greeting us everyday very friendly or not. The only thing that really needs improvement is the nightly entertainment, still the same old same old, we usually opt out to spend time with friends we've met there in the past or new aquaintances every year we meet some wonderful people, some we keep in touch with. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and obliging always willing to accommodate. We have been here many times and would come back in a heart beat. Our travel adviser Carrol Webber is amazing as well we have booked other trip through her and she is beyond helpful giving info and getting info and with other trips always there when we called even with some pretty lame questions, she's the best

The place was very good service its good the room it was clean food was very good alot of resturant .the only thing I didn't like was the beach was full of weed,but they said its seasnl so I dont no .othre then that every thing was good.and its worth of money .

Secrets Royal Beach: Secrets Royal Beach

Recently returned from a week here - May 14-21, 2018. Weather was amazing. The rooms and grounds of this hotel are probably the best we’ve seen. We had a Junior Suite Pool View - which for the most part is a view of the lazy river, which was lovely. The food was ok but if I’m being honest the Secrets “brand” did not live up to its reputation at this resort compared to others, i.e. Silversands. It may be possible that since it joined the other chains of Zoety and Breathless the fo [... read more]cus may have shifted. The best meal we had was at the Now Garden @ Capers. The Seaside Grill was our least favourite with very poor service The beach is beautiful however there is a major seaweed problem - mounds that were 3 feet high and quite a lot in the ocean. They work from sun-up to sundown trying to remove it only to start all over again the next day. The housekeeping, bar and entertainment staff work tirelessly and always with a smile on their face. I wouldn’t suggest upgrading to preferred unless you really feel its necessary. Also, unless you really want to invest in the UVC - Unlimited Vacation Club, don’t waste your vacation time going to a “special breakfast”. Please don’t think this was all negative as it wasn’t - we had a great 7 days and so glad we got to experience another Secrets Resort.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Spectacular location!

After many years of staying at resorts all over the Caribbean, this resort has one of the best views ever. Built up against a hill, the view from many rooms is spectacular. The most unusual feature is an elevator to the beach. That is a necessity even for the healthiest of clients, which I was not since I was still recovering from hip surgery and a broken arm. I climbed the stairs from the beach to the main building, but I wouldn't have wanted to do that every day, even I were in perfect shape.  [... read more]I was thankful for this elevator and the others in my building. The food and the drinks were excellent. My only criticism is the quality of the house wines, which was poor. Better wines were available at a cost. The specialty restaurants were good, but the best was the French one. The service was uniformly good, with a a few minor exceptions. The rooms were superb. We stayed in the main building because of my handicap. We enjoyed a beautiful view from our room because we had been upgraded. Unfortunately the views fro the rooms facing town were not as good. These rooms were also noisier, since they overlooked the area where the evening programs were presented. That area was exceptional because of its outdoor location, but that made for more noise. Unfortunately, we did not view the other buildings and the rooms there. These rooms are best for those who are not handicapped. The arrival and departure were well arranged (in our case four and a half hour trips to the airport) with only a minor glitch in our departure time, otherwise we would have been able to enjoy a final breakfast. I heartily recommend this resort, in spite of the long bus trip. Other airlines fly out of the airport in Samana, but since we stayed for ten days, that was not possible for us.

We had a great experience at this resort. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Just wish there was more restaurants or you could book more than 3 times. The best was the location. The views were amazing!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful resort

The resort offered something for everyone. We had a variety of food choices and snacks. The grounds were always clean by morning and our made was very good. The pools are very large and you had lots of room to relax in them.

The pools were large and warm, The grounds were kept clean, The food was very good and plentiful, Restaurant's were amazing, People were mostly friendly, you ran into the odd grump. Pool bar they did not add alcohol to drinks so after a few daiquiris I clued in that you need to say add rum. Over all GREAT time and the tours they offered had something for everyone to enjoy.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Not what I was expecting.

First I want to start with the good things.The hotel as amazing regarding shows, entertainment, service and food in the a la carte restaurants.Next the bad follows.The a la carte not booking policy is a totally wrong idea, from 4 restaurants 2 are closed every day and the waiting time to get a table is 1 hour or more.So, go the buffet where the choices are not many, same food everyday.Now the front desk reception staff. A totally disaster. I've called for beer and water in my room the 2nd day, c [... read more]alled again and again, it took 6 hours to get something in my room.After other 2 days the same thing, this time took them 3 hours. The day before leaving, I called again, this time they never came. The water is not being fit for taking a shower, when you try to mix cold and hot it comes like every second burning then switches to freezing.One of the 2 showers located close to beach area had the faucet valve not working properly and nobody did something to fix it all 7 days I've stayed there.When I went to the reception to talk to them, the staff there were taking calls, or even going to back room, not speaking with me, left me waiting for minutes with no answers.When I' ve called in Canada the last day, they tried to overbill me even I had the watch set for how many minutes I used.More hen that, they excused they do not have change for a 10 $ US bill, I had to go outside of the hotel to buy something, some real beer what they never have. Finally, I saw a lady waitress dropping a fork on the floor when she was preparing the tables.Naturally, she took it from the dirty floor and put it back on the table.No cleaning. no germs, no bacteria.The hotel manager was never available, every time when I asked for him, he was taking lunch or dinner, very busy person.The beach area reserved is the size of a volley field.From the 5 bars they advertised on the website they have only 2.This hotel is rated 4.5 stars, I would not give them even 3.Good luck for everybody going there!

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Good Resort

I would not advise Canadians to go to this resort, besides the seweed on the beach that they cannot do anything about , they will not take our Canadian dollar and there is nowhere to exchange it at the resort, the one bank machine they have will not accept Canadian cards because it does not have interact plus.

Riu Republica: Pleasantly surprised by its beauty!

Hotel was wonderful. Our room was very clean and well attended to every day. Food was excellent including the coffee which is not always the case in large hotels. The hotel employees were very helpful and looked like they really enjoyed their work and dealing with the visitors. The evening shows were ordinary but good performances. I would definitely return anytime.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: We do not recommend this resort.

We were very disappointed with this resort as the resort had age and was not kept up to our expectations of a 4-star superior resort. We had seen multiple star ratings for this resort listed online. The star ratings were misleading as they were not consistent across online reviews. The rooms were in need of a massive overhaul; mold issues, rust issues, old uncomfortable mattress and thread bare linens. We also had a toilet that required four maintenance visits to stop continually running (and [... read more] still was not repaired). If bland, spice-less food is your preference then the buffet is a good choice. Unfortunately the buffet could not accommodate a variety of dietary needs and we were very disappointed with the choices for vegetarians. We did speak with guest services and their solution was to present me with a letter to present to the buffet hostess regarding my dietary requirements, but most of the times this letter was misunderstood and I was presented with fish as an option (not an option for a vegetarian-vegan dietary restrictions). The Dominican restaurant served an amazing vegetarian dish and we were very happy with the selections at this restaurant so much so that we went twice. In my opinion the a la cart restaurants were the only redeeming factor as far as food was concerned. We were disappointed by the solicitation occurring right on the resort. We were constantly being solicited the entire time we were there and multiple times during the day. Vendors were set up every night outside of the buffet and they were aggressive in their sales tactics, as were the companies attempting to sell you your next vacation package or a vacation package membership. Talking to staff and locals we were told that this is normal but this is the first time I have ever encountered this much solicitation while on a resort and I was surprised that this was permitted. Yes everyone does need to make a living but I was very disappointed that a simple no thank you did not suffice. The beach was beautiful, lots of shade and shady beach huts.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Getaway!

Just returned from a week at the Iberostar (for the 5th time!) and it was excellent as always. Cannot say enough about the amazing staff here. They are the best part of the holiday so many smiles and hands willing to make your day. Our favorite spot is the prestige beach lounge where Marlon, Maribel & Johanna offer up top notch service! As prestige [... read more] members we have the pleasure of first class treatment in the prestige lounge where Elizabeth, Arianni, Johan and Avis are attentive to any needs that you may have. We are also spoiled as members to have a cart to whisk us from one end of the resort to the other, our favorite drivers Samuel and Johan deliver us safely and quickly to any point on the resort that we wish to go. In the lobby Yunior, our muscle man is always ready to take those heavy packages (filled with organic chocolate from the Del Oro chocolate factory just up the road from here) to help us to our room. Our hats are tipped to alllllll of the amazing kitchen/cooking/serving staff. The food is endless, the variety is overwhelming and the flavors have never left us disappointed. These people work hard and serve up some of the yummiest cuisine that keeps us coming back for more. To round out the day and make every moment memorable the entertainment staff is never far away with a high five, crazy game or bang on dance moves. You will see Justin Bieber, WiFi, Blondie, Maria and countless others from the beach to the pool and everywhere in-between waiting to provide you with fun and laughter in the sun. Last but not least, easily overlooked are the grounds keepers and the cleaning staff. These people put in their fair share of hours each day keeping things looking fabulous and always greet you with a smile and a kind word. If you have not been here it may be time!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: not my ideal vacation very disappointing

The staff at the hotel was good helpful and friendly, however we had issues with the room, and the beach was a mess the whole time we were there, the first room was in disrepair, shower door off it's hinges and TV not working, also balcony was beside a very loud air conditioner. No handles on the outside of the sliding doors, so you needed to keep them open in order to get back in. This allowed the insects into the room at night. Second room over looked the service road and traffic started aro [... read more]und 5:00 am. TV also did not work, and took four attempts at services calls to correct , we arrived on the Friday and finally had some resolutions by Wednesday, we left on the Friday to come home. Would not recommend this resort to friends.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful resort

The grounds were beautiful it was very clean and everything was emaculate ,they were very quick to help in every request . The entertainment during the day could have been a little more upbeat and a little more interaction with the guests . The nightly entertainment was a little to repetitive always the same music for the kids show and the adult shows could have been more elaborate and entertaining the beach party was cancelled and then had an audience interaction show that wasn't very good . The pools needed more attention to the cleaning procedures ,often seen very dirty looking so went to the ocean . All in all was a great holiday just didn't enjoy the long bus ride to the resort .

Secrets Cap Cana: I love Secrets!!!

Wow!!! My first all inclusive resort and the bar is set high!!! Everything from the spaces (rooms, pools, bars, restaurants, beach) to the staff, was excellent! The grounds were beautifully maintained, I loved the flowers and palm trees. Pools were a gorgeous bright blue. But the service!! Next level amazing!!! Occidental Punta Cana: absolutely loved this resort!

Grounds were beautifully maintained. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Pool was amazing, lots of lounge chairs available. Beach was incredible and kept cleared of seaweed. Rooms were well cleaned daily and staff always made sure there was coffee for the coffee maker. Oriental restaurant was perfect-had generous serving of succulent Peking duck with roasted veggies. There was lots of excursions to choose from with something for everyone. Warning about the ziplining. Was told there was a 5-6 [... read more] minute walk between some of the platforms. Turns out it was more of a 5-6 minute uphill hike! Despite this, the experience was exhilarating. Nightly entertainment was very professional and energetic, excellent shows every night! Although a large resort, it is well laid out and everything was easy to find. Only thing missing were smiles, especially at the front desk. Overall, an amazing experience.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: royalton punta, punta cana may 5th to may 15th

amazing resort. super clean and well cared for grounds. beach is beautiful and swimming pools are excellent. rooms were extremely clean and couldnt ask for better staff. they are just like family. i love this resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fun in the Sun with Hot Wife

Loved the service at the buffet. Andres, Denny and Rosa are the best servers we have ever had. Beach is nicer than any of the nearby resorts. Beautiful grounds. The food at the buffet and al a carts was very good.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Vacation, Fun Staff, great food

A well maintained place, with friendly staff, you need to have a dinner at the Octopus for the Salmon. The only down side was the wind ( May 8 to May 15) picking up around noon and making the beach very un-usable. Snorkeling can be done literally 20 feet's away from the beach

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: The best resort

This was our seventh stay at the Gran Ventana. It is a very well managed resort. The staff are all amazing and make you feel welcome. You are recognized as returning guests. It is super clean, the rooms are spacious, the food and drinks are delicious. There are three excellent a la cartes restaurants. The beach is beautiful. We can't wait to go back again!
