Hotel Acuazul: excellent economic choice!

nice clean hotel and good food for a 3 stars....3 min walking to the beach,but smoking cars and trucks very close to the clean pool....good service at both bars,smiling staff!!, i saw peoples cleaning many areas every day...

Memories Jibacoa: Fantastic resort!

Grounds and scenery were beautiful, people (staff and other guests) were awesome! Public areas and rooms were very well kept and clean, food was above average. All in all a great place to spend a week or more.

Hotel Bella Costa: Good trip

hotel was dated but clean. one of the elevators did not work properly thru out the stay. Hotel staff was friendly. food was ok it was suppose to be a 4 day trip but turned out to be 3 days because of terrible cubana airlines flight times. the Havana tour was ok.

Mar Del Sur: Just under ok

Everything was fine but our rooms were in unit 16 and unit 17 which were not the most desirable buildings.It would a been better if we had a nicer room.puntarena hotel was nice with balcony n ocean views missed hearing the ocean waves n looking out at the night sky n ocean.service n entertainment were all great however.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: beautiful setting

The grounds and beaches at this resort are amazing. I upgraded to the exclusive island but was disappointed to have broken AC, broken phone and lots of bugs in the room. I was not moved to a new room for two days and that room had several burnt out lights which were not replaced during the two week stay.

Palma Real: not thrilled

unable to take a shower clothes got stolen, the staff was very friendly, entertain was ok surrounding clubs were excellent. water on the floors in the halways, elevators didn`t work half the time............................

Club Kawama: sometimes felt like we were in the twilight zone!

Location was great. Beach is outstanding. Upon our arrival our rooms toilet was used and wouldn't flush. We asked 6 times over 3 days to have it fixed. So we used the lobby washroom for 3 days which was extremely frustrating. My sister and husband paid for a safe that never worked, asked many times to have it fixed or a refund which both didn't happen. Thankfully we felt very safe at the resort and just hid our money, passports, etc. in our luggage. Staff was fantastic and had the best intention [... read more]s so I don't think they didn't want to fix our issues but maybe just too many issues throughout the resort to have time to get to everyone. I did not enjoy the food. The breakfast omelette grill was great as was the lunch and dinner chicken, pork, and steak made to order grill. The bread was good. Not much of a salad bar at all. Mostly leftovers from previous meals that were recycled by serving cold mixed with mayo or vinegar. Buffet included things like chickpeas, lentils, banana, rice, cabbage, the odd noodles in tomato sauce, and other recycled dishes. Limited variety of fruit. Not alot of vegetables. Water in rooms didn't work from 10 pm til 6 am. No showers or sink. Water sometimes not available at bar to drink in the evenings. Went thirsty and dehydrated once or twice. New pool is beautiful. Bars often lacked beer, or mojitos, or pina coladas depending which you were at. Though the staff was wonderful, I wouldn't return to this resort.

Starfish Jibacoa: Wish the food was better

Loved the grounds, beach, reef and staff. Room was ok. Basic but fine Food was awful. We had read reviews that it read not good, but it was worse than we expected. Would love to go back. ..but unless the food improves, we can not.

Grand Memories Varadero: I enjoyed my over all stay.

Grande Memories is having sewage back up issues and that caused some horrible smells throughout the resort and even in our room and closed the pool bar a few days. the rain made the walking a very difficult thing to do. Hotel Los Cactus: Good value but in need of maintenance and mojitos

We were looking for two things in our hotel - adults-only and on the beach - and Breezes delivered on both. The trip was extremely good value for the money. We received a big room, which included a second bedroom, that looked over the pool. The beach was well-maintained and there were watersports readily available. The location was ideal as it was the middle of the Varadero Peninsula, which meant a reasonable departure hour for excursions and we were one of the first ones dropped off after the [... read more] excursions. The food was average. Good generic offerings (think most wedding buffets). There are three a la carte restaurants, and I would not recommend the Cuban one (Mojito's). Martino's and the grill one were good. One disappointment was that mojitos were hard to get. We only got them once during our stay as every other time we asked, they were out of mint. The hotel also needs a bit of maintenance (chipping paint, etc.) but there was construction while we were there so this may be resolved shortly. All in all, we would recommend this resort and stay again.

Muthu Playa Varadero: A Great Escape

The room was clean and shower/toilet had no concerns. The layout of the resort was simple even for its size. The staff were friendly. The evening entertainment was great. The buffet was plentiful with a wide variety that would please anyone. I loved the soft sand on the beach and into the ocean. I would definitely like to return.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Hotel

Great resort, all rooms have sea view, lovely staff, food is not wow but better than other hotels. If you like seeing old cars, this is the place you must visit. the whole country is like a museum for old Chevrolet and ford card which are maintained in an immaculate state.

Hotel Los Cactus: Older resort

Staff were nice/friendly. Grounds clean. However in need of some updates. Same food over and over. Some staff were to not informative regarding resort . Food times were to late for the most. If you didnt make the times, you would have to until next time or next day.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Great staff, terrible food, and dirty rooms.

The food was the worst I ever had. I went there with low expectations for food based on previous trips to Cuba, but this was beyond bad. The rice was ALWAYS undercooked, and there was ketchup,mustard drizzled on everything for decor. I've would have starved if it were not for the decent breakfast and hotdog options they had.

Palma Real: The shining stars say it all

This resort purports to be a 4 star, however, at night only 2 of the 4 shine bright - a much truer rating. Things are pretty shabby: broken bed spring, temperamental air-conditioning, peeling paint, constantly running toilets, flooding of hallways and some rooms when it rains, in the main many areas are suffering from deferred maintenance. The grounds are well kept however. The resort is not directly on the gorgeous beach. The walk is not far but be prepared to pass stinking garbage bins on the  [... read more]way to it. Location is great if you to live it up in town and not hibernate in the resort. That being said, the quality of the evening shows is very high and well worth watching before heading out to the street. The food is OK - nothing to write home about but edible, sometimes, more sometimes less. The bars are understaffed and the takeaway plastic cups are small and flimsy and not environmentally friendly. So bring your own insulated drink container. Would I stay here again? Yes, because for the price we paid it was great.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Awesome.

The resort was undergoing reno's so we only had the beach club area, but what a place! Everything was close, everyone was amazing. Our room was the best one in the complex, I'm sure it had the best view. I want to go back for Christmas!

Roc Arenas Doradas: hotel

Hard to find a clean table at the buffet. Was told more than once that reservations at special dining places were full but whenI went on my reserved days the restaurants were less than a third full. When speaking to sunwing rep he keep interrupting me to speak to others walking into his office.

Melia Marina Varadero: Had a good time, but could be better...

The resort is generally welcoming and we did have a good time, however there were a few things that could be improved. When we first arrived, we found out that the lock to our room was not working, and we had to wait for the technician to fix it although we were super hungry. The room was not very well maintained, the garbage can in the room was broken, and the window over the bath tub doesn't close completely and had a slit in between. What's even worse is that there is no shower curtain at the [... read more] shower so I could see the shower area clearly through the slits from the room. Although this might not be a concern for couples travelling together, I went with my parents and this caused us a lot of inconvenience. The pool and beach were all right, not quite comparable to Mexico, but they served their purpose. The food was generally salty and not of very high quality, especially compared to other common vacation sites like Mexico. The water melons are literally unripe and white in color but still got served. One last thing is while we were there, the coffee bar didn't offer decaffeinated coffee even though it was listed on the menu. This was kind of disappointing to us as my family is quite sensitive to caffeine. The resort staff were all very friendly and helpful, so thumbs up for that. Overall, this is okay resort (although not worth 5 star definitely), but I would probably go somewhere else if I return to Cuba.

Barcelo Solymar: Varadero's Best Resort!!

The Barceló Solymar Hotel is, I think, the best in Cuba! It is clean, the staff are friendly and very helpful, and it has a beautiful pool and grounds. It's close to the beach and minutes away from the main shopping strip downtown. It has a nice party atmosphere that winds down by midnight and if you are craving more dancing past this you can go next door to Arenas Blancas and continue the all inclusive party or go to dance clubs in the area. Sol Varadero Beach: Awesome resort

The service from the hotel was great from the time I got there the staff from the front desk to the lobby staff. The room service by the maids was great and very friendly and always asked if I needed anything. The cleanest of the whole hotel was great there where people cleaning inside and outside everyday. The staff at the restaurants were awesome they looked after your drinks cleared your plates and the food was fantastic everyday. I look so forward to going back to this hotel again.
