Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: The resort is a beautiful place.

I like the beach the most. The room is merely satisfactory, the resort environment is not bad, but the food is not up to satisfaction, it needs improvement in the way of variety and quality. The pool is excellent.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Perfect Resort for a Destination Wedding

We got back from the Iberostar Laguna Azul on November 30 2015 and it was one of the best weeks of our lives. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone thinking about a destination wedding or just wanting to get away for a week. We've stayed all over Cuba and this was the nicest hotel we have been to. The food was the best we've had in Cuba, there was always lots of choices and everything was edible. The  [... read more]wedding coordinator (Enith Gonzalez) made our wedding week as stress free as possible and made the wedding day one we will never forget. The beds are a little hard but overall the rooms are really nice. Some people complained about the lack of lighting at night around the resort but it didn't bother us at all. The beach was gorgeous even though we didn't spend a lot of time there because it was pretty windy all week. There was entertainment every day and night. Most of it was generic Cuban hotel entertainment but there was definitely some different things to watch throughout the week. We never had a problem getting towels, whether it was bathroom towels or beach towels. The resort is also very child friendly so it's a great place to have a family vacation.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: great resort

Grounds are beautiful,rooms clean comfortable and spacious.staff at front desk dining room and room maids all very friendly and helpful.only negative was souvenir shop staff not hospitable and rude. FOOD IN BUFFET COULD BE WARMER.

Hotel Los Cactus: Perfect getaway

If your looking for a quiet no kids place to go this is it. Rooms were perfect, close to everything but because of the mature grounds we never felt we were in a fully booked hotel. Food was the best of any Cuban hotel we ever stayed at. Drinks were top shelf and service was always with a smile. If you have time visit Havana, it's a beautiful city, tours are available from any tour rep in the hotel. We are coming back next year....!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing week!

Everything we've ever heard about Cuba can be forgotten at this resort. The resort grounds including the beach are stunning. Every detail is attended to, the gardens, pools and leisure areas. The food was consistently excellent. From the extensive variety and quality in the buffet restaurant to the a la Carte restaurants, all was beautifully presented and delicious. Definitely worth the extra expense. We will definitely be back to this hotel and look forward to seeing the staff again.

Los Delfines: Not Recommended

Hotel room is the worst we've seen but shower works, beds adequate. TV broken, AC not working and balcony door would not close. Told hotel was full so could not change our room. There fora short stay so stuck it out. Grounds are beautiful and the beach amazing because it's Varadero. Food was enough to survive but mostly ate off site. Will not go back to this resort.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Not even close to 4 star

Poor service and food. Attempts to rejuvenate hotel are evident under the new management but it will take time. It is Varadero after all so I am not sure if the attitude of the employees will ever change. It's getting worst year after the year. Hotel grounds are being worked on and management is trying hard.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Less than expected.

Good beach with lots of palapas and lounge chairs. Wifi in lobby very handy. Buffet has all the charm and chaos of a high school cafeteria. A la cartes difficult to access. Food below Average by Cuban standards. Below average service.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Staff

Grounds are very well kept. We were in building 17, very short walk to the beach. The room was very spacious and clean. The Japanese restaurant was the best. The food at the buffet gets tired by the end of the week, but there was a great variety. Lounging by the pool or on the beach you get in seat service from the bar which is great.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Just a 3*

The beach is amazing: huge, clean, a lot of shade and a lot of chairs! There is a snack bar and a bar with some table in front - very convenient! The lobby is nice, renovated and clean. All common area are clean and there is always someone moping. The grounds are also well entertained. The complex is very big! The walk form the lobby to the beach is nice but a bit long. Definitely not enough carts to take you around, at least off season, when we were there. The food is Cuban! If you like simp [... read more]le and well cooked, it is great! If you a re fancy eater, not he best. But I don't think anyone stayed hungry. There is at least 5 choices of meat for every meal and not always the same, a plenty of other things. Now, the room are NOT 4*! At all! Very moldy, the beds need to be changed, AC is not the best. Things are not working. They get fixed in a day or two but not necessary everything is working when you arrive. I've been many times before in 3* hotels and this one is not different. Just bear in mind that. It is not what you pay for 4*, it is 3*. TIPS: bring your own beach towels; lock the balcony door if you are on ground level (there is a chain on top).

Melia Las Americas: Trip of a lifetime

The Melia Las Americas was beautiful inside and out. Staff was amazing, food was amazing, never seen anything quite like it and we are definitely going back. Top notch all the way. We made some really great friends there, including some of the staff.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great Value

Location was secluded between Havana and Varadero. Beach was nice and they cleaned it every morning but too short for long beach walks. Unfortunately the week I was there it was too windy to snorkel (red flag were out). Food was boring, same thing every day, but edible. You can get wine at the restaurant lunch buffet and dinner buffet but NOT at the pool bar and lobby bar, no fountain beer at lobby bar (only bottles you have to pay for) but lobby bar make great Spanish Coffee. It took all week t [... read more]o figure what you can get where and when. Staff was very friendly, No trouble with language barrier i.e. decent command of English or even French in some cases. Although every other unit had EXTREMELY hot water, mine had NO hot water. The biggest disappointment for me was that I get up very early 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. and breakfast buffet did not open until 7:30 or 7:40 so no coffee or tea until then and they do not serve coffee or tea at the lunch or dinner buffet, so had to settle for wine. :) I found dinner buffet at 7:00 p.m. too late. Despite all the negative above I got a great last minute price with NO single supplement so yes, I would return.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing vacation

The hotel was very clean but the rooms smelled a bit musty. The food was quite good, a lot of variety. Staff was very friendly one waitress in particular Cheylin was fantastic.Washrooms in the main part of the hotel were not great, 2 of the 4 stalls were out of order and there was rarely hand soap. The hand dryer was also broken and there were only paper towels sometimes.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Excellent Resort

Loved the resort. I liked the bungalows. The grounds were well kept and clean. The activities at this resort were well organized. Plenty of options for food. The beach was amazing. Mike's Cafe and snack bar too.

Palma Real: best ever

The rooms were spotless, in good working order. Food was good with lots of choices and location couldn't be any better. The city was within walking distance as well as all the clubs. Buses were accessible and option for taxi or horse and buggy. The price was so very reasonable . No complaints at all and we were going group of 9 people. All s dancers late 40's to 80 year old. We all enjoyed the trip and defiantley be back. I myself hav been to many resorts in Cuba fron havana, cienfuegos, moron,  [... read more]santa maría and another o in varadero and Palma Real has beat them all. The flight was great as well!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Average Resort

The best of Cuba are the Cubans, I've been in Cuba 14 times. I can say this hotel needs some renovation in most areas example, rooms, pool, restaurant. Our room was not ready had to wait hours, went we got to the room the sliding door handle was broken, didn't lock. The walls were badly broken and chipped, no beach towels for two days. We request a different room, did not feel safe in that room with the sliding door broken. We recommend this hotel to people are not fussy.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: 2nd Stay...Love the Blau Marina!

Friendly staff, beautiful resort, amazing beach, very clean, awesome swimming pools....highly recommended. Food was good.. Easy bus ride into the town of Varadero, and not too far from Havana. Great choice for anyone.

Melia Varadero: Nice clean resort

The grounds were lovely. Room was nice and cleaned everyday ,only issue was trying to get chairs by the pool. People guarded them with there towels everyday ,never got a chair by the pool all week ,also they don't know how to cook beef or lamb always tough

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: It's an OK resort.

The hallway lights were either very dim or no lights at all throughout the sleeping quarters. Some sections in the outside of the buildings were poorly lit as well. The staff were friendly enough most of the time.The food for the most part was adequate but sure could use some improvement. It was very bland. If one is expecting a 5 star resort, it's more like a 3.5-4 star. All in all; we had a good experience.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: This resort was... OK.

This was my first resort experience. We went as a family with our 2 year old for a wedding. The bad first: This resort is not at all like in looks in the photos. I think the photos were taken on opening day when it was all shiny and new, because what we saw was old and tired. Our suite smelled like a damp outhouse. Our air conditioner did not turn off. One of our toilets leaked and the other had not seat. Our power would randomly go off for hours at a time (but somehow the tv always worked!). T [... read more]he hair dryer and coffee maker in our room were both broken. Our room key didn't always work. Our patio door took two adults to force open. The food was really unimpressive. Plates, bowls and beach towels were in very short supply. The kiddie pools were either dirty or empty all week. The good: Amazing service, super friendly staff, beautiful well-kept grounds. Our suite was spacious and our housekeeper was great : our mini bar was restocked daily with pop and bottled water and we were even treated to some beautiful bed sheet creations like a peacock and a butterfly. The pools were lovely, the beach was breathtaking. The shows at the theater were well done, and the musicians, dancers and entertainers performing throughout the day were fantastic. The wedding we attended was held in one of the rooftop gazebos. It was beautiful, the view was incredible and the day was really well organized and run by their on-site wedding planner. They even closed down one of the à la carte restaurants for the dinner and had the discoteca available to us for a private reception. Overall, the good and the bad balanced each other out. I wouldn't choose to go back there, but if I had to, I guess I wouldn't mind.
