Just a mediocre hotel. Not kept up very well. Moldy pools with garbage and slime floating around. Rooms were ok but again moldy throughout. Food was not too bad but same every day. (was just moved around to look like it's different food options). Beach is not usable due to large rocks and a ton of seaweed... We won't be returning unfortunately.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Beautiful, huge resort — just a few wrinkles to iron out
First of all, I'd like to thank Debbie Maguire of tripcentral.ca for her assistance coordinating this trip. She was instrumental in helping us narrow down our options and make some smart choices. She was also patient with all our questions, quick to respond whenever we emailed or called, and really insightful about our destination choices.
As for our experience at Ocean Riviera Paradise: There is a lot to love about this resort. The pools — and there are many of them — are beautiful. The[... read more] grounds are immaculate. The rooms are stylish and pretty well decked out. The food was generally quite good. There’s a nice mix of quiet little nooks and active party zones scattered across the property. The evening shows were actually quite well done. The beds were comfy, the room service was quick and the staff were all quite friendly. Our nine-year-old was a bit too old for the mini club activities and a bit too young to hang out in the teen club (without us), but plenty of kids seemed to enjoy these spaces and the staff looking after them seemed attentive and fun. The children’s water slide park was another small letdown - the water flow down the slides is so light that only very small children could actually “slide†down them.
The very size of the place makes most of those positives possible, but it also means (at least it meant in our experience) that when you encounter a hiccup, it’s easy for your concern to fall through the cracks. For example, it took three days and several phone calls to get the robe and slippers as promised in the room’s amenities. A little thing, sure. But also an easy thing to fix. There was also a big open, empty space on our rooftop deck where the website suggested a sectional lounger should have been (Eden Junior Suite with Rooftop Deck). We could see that our neighbors had one, for what it’s worth. We planned on spending a lot of our time up on that deck, and had chosen the upgrade based on how it looked in the website photos. Despite multiple requests, the furniture never showed up - no one even came to check. The deck also had two lounge chairs - both of which had broken legs. (We’ll never know for sure but we wonder if the furniture situation might have been resolved if we had signed up for a pricey membership in the hotel's parent company — the omnipresent high-pressure sales tactics were off putting.)
In the end, furniture isn’t everything, of course. We still had a wonderful vacation and I would happily recommend this resort to anyone, with the caveat that they will need to be prepared to speak up quickly, loudly and persistently if anything is amiss.

El Dorado Maroma: Outstanding food
Great resort! The service, the spa, the beach, the rooms, all top notch. The clientele was a little older then most resorts. The hotel is situated between to government reserve lands, so the beach isn’t busy but there is a public dock with water sports close by, so you do get a few kids wandering onto the hotels beach.

Occidental Cozumel: great holiday
we were celebrating our 45th anniversary and had a really good time. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and well maintained and the food was very good. People always talk about the liquor being watered down at all - inclusives but I had a few straight shots while we were there and they were not watered down. The pool was nice and the beach was beautiful and well looked after. We went to all three a la carte restaurants during our stay and had three excellent meals. We [... read more]asked to change rooms after the first night because we were right beside the entertainment that went til 1:30 am and they were very nice about it, moving us to a quieter area. It was mostly couples staying at the resort, with a few larger groups who were a little boisterous, but no bad behaviour.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great resort
Blue Bay is a big reset with about 1,000 rooms. Despite its size the rooms are well kept, the grounds were impeccable and service was excellent. We were able to book dinners at the specialty restaurants every night, no restrictions. Would probably go back in the next couple of years.
Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Resort el disappointment
We were very disappointed in this resort Royal del Cameron. The first room we were in reminded us of a low grade hotel the door looked like it was kicked in a few times and very dull and worn out. We were only in the room for about 10 minutes and starting hearing lots of yelling in the hallway from the drunks who were partying and it was only 6pm. We asked to be moved to a quiet room which they did and the noise started again about 11pm outside and until about 2am or later again from all the dru[... read more]nks who were yelling and screaming. This resort has nothing but steps up and down everywhere and was not suitable for myself and my wife as we were in a automobile accident before we arrived. The food was awful to say the least. The staff was very helpful and polite but because the resort catered mostly to the party animals we had to upgrade to a much better resort and get out of there as quickly as possible. I would not recommend this resort if you are looking for relaxation or don't want to climb loads of stairs to get anywhere in this place steer away from going there. Also if you are a non smoker well people smoke everywhere in this resort and that was another turn off. I would rate this resort as a 2 or 3 star as best nothing more. Will not return and this is no 4 or 4.3 star resort buyer beware.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Valentin
It certainly wasn’t what we experienced two years ago. The service wasn’t as good and you can tell there have been cutbacks at the restaurants. It disappoints me that the wind blows constantly and that the beach and watersports are not really available and the red flags seem to be constantly up.

Grand Oasis Sens: Has potential but poorly run
I really don't want to be writing this as I hate writing reviews like this. Here goes, the rooms, just wow, the smell was unbearable and everything leaked including shower taps that sprayed the entire shower room. Sink facets leaked, toilet constantly ran. Room has mold and mildew, I know this for a fact as mold is my only allergy and they won't not let us switch rooms so I was wheezing and coughing the whole 7 days. Next, all inclusive??? Far from, seems like everywhere my partner and I ended u[... read more]p that was less party and more relax (cigar lounge, the box) there was always something we needed to pay for or wasn't included in our stay. Room service was an additional charge too. We felt so restricted on our vacation. Restaurants were either closed or impossible to get into. Always line ups and waits..who wants to sit in a line up every time they feel like eating while on vacation!? They say to recycle the drink cups but instead the collect them and REUSE them after rinsing them with ONLY water. Let's just say I came home from vacation with my very first lip blister thanks to this place. Everyone we talked to also complained about everything I've mentioned thus far but mainly the rooms and poor service as the resort is incredibly understaffed. The restaurant and bar near the secret pool was always closed, the Maki taco restaurant was also never open. If you like slow service, broken and dirty everything, bad smells and very little to eat on your vacation then this place is perfect. To top it off the alcohol tasted like gasoline and burns your eyes if you try to take a sip. If you can drink it, you'll definitely get drunk but consuming it is the challenge. Good thing I like beer. Oh that reminds me, mini bar in your room consists of only two beers that are pry off and don't supply you with a bottle opener to even drink your two beers. The staff were nice, some were able to help and some just couldn't wait to go home. Pretty sure we could have made a palm tree with all the tree debry at the bottom of the pool. Pavement is very uneven so be careful when you walk. I feel horrible writing this and don't want to but I dont get much time to take vacations and can rarely afford to so this was more upsetting than anything. I couldn't even be mad because I was just so disappointed. This resort has great potential and a wonderful theme but failed to execute it's true purpose. My partner and I are very easy going people and always look for the positives in everything but we were disappointed and came home feeling everything but relaxed and refreshed. I really hope they put money towards the rooms and rest of the resort as it has the potential to be amazing! The food at the box and sunset restaurant were amazing and very well done!! Highlight of the trip! Food was delicious when received.

Selection Riviera Cancun: One of our Favourites!
This is a smaller, walk-able resort. Easy to get around the beautiful grounds and to the wonderful restaurants. All the staff are friendly, helpful and seem proud of their jobs, which we find very refreshing. It is a family resort and it was nice to hear the children playing and having a good time.
When you walk into the front entrance, the aroma coming from the spa is immediately relaxing. The wind was blowing in lots of kelp to the beach but
the resort works tirelessly to keep it managea[... read more]ble. We spent all our time in the pools anyway and the staff keep them very clean. We would recommend that the young party people remember there are children about during the day and might perhaps chose an adult only resort if they have a day/night party focus. Again, thanks to the staff for keeping it enjoyable for everyone.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Lindo never fails
This is our 5th stay at Lindo and it will not be our last. We have been to many other resorts in the Mayan Riviera and while most of the others were nice we have never returned to them. Lindo is part of the Iberostar Paraiso Resort Complex, there are five resorts in the complex, and Lindo is the middle of the five. We feel that Lindo gives you the most bang for our buck. The staff is amazing and they go out of their way to go that extra mile for you. The food is great, after you have done severa[... read more]l Caribbean and Mexican resorts you come to realize that the quality of food is very different from one resort to the other. The resort is a very safe place so there is no worry about walking around at night or early in the morning. Also there are not people on the beach driving you crazy trying to sell you their local wares. Unlike most resort chains Iberostar does not have people harassing you to buy time shares or join clubs, these are offered but only if you show an interest. The only thing that I can say at all negative is about the evening shows. These shows have not changed in the past five years. While the rock show is great this is mainly because of the guitarist who is the real star of the show. I would like to see all of the other shows given an update. I would love to be given the job to select new music for all the shows. If you have never been here before you will enjoy the shows but if you are a returning guest it becomes a little boring. The entertainment team has completely changed this year, and they are very energetic. Also the resort has been doing some renovations which are great, the beach bar and snack bar are both redone, and there is now a 24/7 coffee bar in the lobby area. I can't say enough good things about Lindo and I am looking forward to going back

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Bring the little kids!
Just returned from a week there with my grown kids and grandkids! We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the entire resort, and the friendliness of the staff, particularly at the Daisy Club for little ones. While we opted not to use their childcare services, the staff still befriended each of my grandchildren and spoke to them by name throughout the week! We attended the evening entertainment most nights (the Lion King show was our favourite) and again, appreciated the attention to the you[... read more]ngest members of our family!
