Under renovation & not told by Air Transat Will not be completed for Winter Getaways Rooms not clean Entry door has to be pushed HARD to enter, slammed to close Patio Door no locks, big gap to allow bugs in Restaurant Eldarado food ALWAYS COLD After tables used hard to find staff to clear them & reset No variety in menu Food always undercooked Toaster out of order for last 4 days we were there Not enough staff. Hotel Los Cactus: very good
just one problem with lower level rooms with serious mold issues. We were moved after one night. These rooms should be fixed. Otherwise the stay was great. This resort is very good but the issue with tho mold gives the resort a bad review. We were not the only people with this issue.
Punta Peninsula Varadero: nice beach and staff
resort was tired, but ok in main areas...food was soso as expected for cuba, we found bar service was great with tips but was really understaffed as was the front desk..took us an hour to check in with only 1 staff working..which was disapointing especially after our west jet had experianced problems and had to turn around to go back to toronto when we where only 30 mins away from landing arrival in cuba , change to new plane and then retun to cuba..lol we could have been in europe for the amoun [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: Amazing resort for Cuba
Rooms were excellent, very clean lovely balconies. Grounds were well maintained. Lobby was very inviting good place to hang out around bar or watch TV. Lots of places to eat and drink. Lobster night was a hit, Italian restaurant great, Barbeque night was good. Buffet was good once you figured out what to eat. ( Omlettes, Pasta, Fish, Desserts.
Melia Varadero: Great resort - great staff
The staff go over and above what is expected for them. The rooms are good but request a renovated room and you will be happy. The food is good you can alwAys find something. The roasted chicken is amazing. The al a carte restaurants Japanese and steak house and Trinidad are a must
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great Resort
Very friendly and service focused staff. Clean facility. Food not good, often cold and lacked taste. Liked beach area. Would like option to Book more than 2 speciality dining rooms for dinner. Liked having resource person at hotel.
Roc Barlovento: Barlovento, overall very good vacation
grounds well kept, public w/rms often no TP, pools 3,excellent, clean., great beach , never cleaned in my 11 days beach towels great size, thick. Food, better than average for Cuba, enough choices,[ never relish at the 4 places been to. ], dressings and condiments at lunch, never at dinner. Check in, excellent, got Rm 102 facing pool as requested.[due to a mobility issue walking long distances and doing stairs] Bars, great as always, 24 hrs..Staff, warm, friendly, helpful.
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort!!!
The resort itself was beautiful. The food was decent for Cuba. The staff were amazing! Entertainment staff were fun, bartenders were amazing, especially Ernesto at the swim up bar. Close to the gorgeous beach. Disco was fair size. Snack bar was good, always had food late at night.
Roc Barlovento: Wonderful resort
The people are wonderful (as usual for Cuba), the ocean was great (little hill to get out of ocean) the main swimming pool was very clean, I enjoyed the other pool but not as well maintained - food was salty but great choice (first time I saw peanut butter) the room was as cuban hotel room - maintenance was great (any problem they were there) the animals were therapy - LOVED THEM - I would recommend this hotel
Palma Real: NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
Just OK...Hotel not well maintained...although staff tried hard and were very friendly.Food decent by Cuba standards. Beautiful beach that is littered by disrespectful tourists and then poorly maintained by hotel personnel. Lots of younger tourists who took plenty of advantage of all inclusive alcohol resulting in significant inappropriate behavior. Just not the place for me.
Club Kawama: Nice resort for budget price
Nice place to spend a week or two, away from the crowds of downtown Varadero. Quiet and sandy beach was excellent for long walks all the way to Varadero and beyond. All aspects of tropical vacations were guaranteed.
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Highly recommend!
Can't think of anything negative to say about my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was really clean, and everything was super accessible. The grounds were beautiful and the gorgeous beach was a super short walk away from our room. There was plenty to do on the resort, including great nightly entertainment and the energetic discoteca. The buffet had its highs and lows but the a la carte options were delicious.
Melia Marina Varadero: Very nice and modern resort with Marina
Elegant amenities all over the resort, clean, quiet, perfect for vacation and relax. I only wish, beautiful pools area have umbrellas for a little of shade. To me, resort is very different what we saw for years in Cuba, but excellent!
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Hotel is tired and needs work.
The food was good for Cuba, the grounds are kept clean. The rooms are very tired and need updating. We were not impressed when we got our room # 815, no air conditioning & staff did not want to move us. We were told that the hotel was sold out and there wasn't another room. We would not take no for an answer, and after a long period of time finally they found another room for us. We were not the only couple to experience this problem! Not overly Accommodating. Coffee in the morning did not exist [... read more]
Blau Varadero: Lovely resort
This hotel will most of your needs. The food selection is excellent by Cuba standards, lots of variety and something for everyone. They even have a smoothie station where someone will blend up a smoothie with the fruit you have selected. The coffee in the food court is not very good but thankfully there is a barista at poolside bar who will whip you up a great latte or cappuccino. I didn't participate in the poolside activities but there were certainly a lot listed to keep all members of your fa [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Tainos: Fabulous!!!
It was our first time in Cuba and it couldn't have been better. The hotel and staff were both outstanding. We were treated royally. The beach was beatiful and we took advantage of both the ocean and the resort's beatiful pool to sun, swim and relax. We had been told not to expect too much on the food front but we found that meals were also good. Had breakfast, lunch and supper at the hotel each day and the waitresses were extremely accommodating and unbelievably friendly. Also enjoyed the poolsi [... read more]
Club Kawama: My 12th time to Kawama!
I keep returning to this resort for the "at home" feeling, the staff, the beach and seeing many familiar faces year after year. This resort is one of the oldest in Varadero but it has charm, small buildings and the beach at your doorstep. While there are many things that need improving I truly feel relaxed here and I get amazing service from so many staff. In particular A lady named Leida who ensures her clients are happy and satisfied. this year the resort is undergoing some renovations to impr [... read more]
Resonance Blu Varadero: Worst food/service but beautiful beach
I will start with the good side of the hotel: The beach was beautiful and the resort itself over was nice. The pools and swim up bars were great. Take your walking shoes because the resort is about a km long. Now for the bad. Cuba isn't known for good food, but the food here was bad. Horrible, yuck! Sometimes they didn't have food at all and we had to into town to get food. The rooms were basic but it had a constant running toliet and leaking shower. The room was dark and could hardly see. Occidental Arenas Blancas: A fantastic experience!
The grounds were beautiful, the common areas clean and airy, the food did not try to the North American "fast-food" palate. The staff were friendly and very professional. The beach was beautiful and clean!
Muthu Playa Varadero: Great time!! great food!!
Hotel was great for a Cuban resort! The drinks werr great, pool was fun, and food was outstanding!!. I was always eating 2 plates for breakfest lunch and dinner. Loved to swim with dolphins and drive in old cars to the city. I bought some cigars and rum is very cheap! The beach is amazing!!
