A very beautiful, spacious resort shared with 3 other sister hotels. The grounds are lush green and well taken cared by the staff, so many pools to be enjoyed by all ages including a wave pool for the kids. Our bedroom was amazing, the sheer size and we had a shower and tub in our bathroom. The little fridge was restocked daily with bottled water, pop and beer. There is 6 hotel blocks with rooms and each block had its own concierge desk to help visitors with issues. The hotels let guests share t[... read more]heir restaurants, so many choices and the food and service was excellent. There is a good variety of entertainment at the theatre every evening and different activities during the day at the pools and beach. If walking is too tiring for the kids or elderly one can ask the concierge desk to call for a golf cart ride to your destination ljke the shopping center...

Las Brisas Huatulco: Nice resort
it was a nice resort, lots of stairs so not really handicapped friendly. We were able to upgrade when we arrived as our original room had a fair amount of ants. We enjoyed our stay in the upgraded room. Close proximity to little towns and went to some meals off the resort which were great tasting and good prices

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: I won’t go back to the Hard Rock resort
Unfortunately there were quite a few negatives to my 2nd visit to this resort. The first time I loved it and would highly recommend it but when we went back this year we found that they implemented a bunch of changes that took away a lot of the things I liked about it. Last time we didn’t need reservations for the restaurants. This time they had restaurants closed and the others said we would only get in if someone canceled or didn’t show up even though the resort was only half full. The poo[... read more]l used to be heated but now it’s not. Annie at the reception desk was condescending, rude and unhelpful. Don’t expect to get any requests you make at time of booking. The temperature in our room never got higher than 18.5 Celsius and when we mentioned it to the staff, someone came and just set the temperature setting to the max of 32 degrees but even with that, it didn’t go past 18.5. They also got rid of the antipasto bar in the Italien restaurant.
Although there were negatives, I have to give a shout out to: Gabby in the breakfast buffet, Betty the server by the pool and Alejandro the server in the Mexican & Italien restaurants. Their service was top notch and I couldn’t ask for better. It’s unfortunate that management seems to have put customer service as a lower priority than cutting costs. If you asked me last year I would have said I planned on going to this resort every year but it looks like I now have to find a new resort.

Riu Flamingos: Great resort
I loved this resort . I have stayed there several times. I like the fact that it is an easy walk to the beach . There is lots of shade and beach chairs . The staff are amazing. The Italian restaurant was not as good this time... salad bar was empty, chicken was burnt, not as good a selection ..., but the Japanese restaurant was wonderful. We had a great time!

Grand Sunset Princess: Something for everyone!
Beautiful, big resort with lots to offer! We enjoyed the great nightly entertainment, the option to either enjoy the pool games or sit at the quiet pool. Rooms were very nice and clean, serviced daily. Buffets had good food although cold at times. Good service throughout the hotel. Beach was not as nice as expected. It was a bit crowded and the water was rough with a rocky bottom - not ideal but we still enjoyed our time there. It was fun to see the monkies by the bridge.

Krystal Puerto Vallarta: Great times
My husband and I had a great vacation at Krystal resort in Puerto Vallarta. We were greeted first off with s smile and helped to our room after check in. Clean modern room and amazing view of the ocean. Resort not too big with lots of old Mexico charm. Very welcoming. Food tasty however not a huge variety. Best bar service at the beach bar.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Something for everyone!
Visited Feb 3-10 with family of 4 - with 17 and 19 year olds. Large resort but well laid out (5 resorts in total). Close to beach/pool and restaurants. Pools were nice with swim up bars and fountains. Beach was beautiful with snorkelling available - 1 hour free. Saw many fish and turtles. Many other water sports available as well. Grounds were beautiful and very clean resorts. Buffet restaurants were good - lots of selection. You had a choice of going to 3 a la cartes - they were pretty go[... read more]od - disappointed in the Japanese because we did not get to sit at the chef table. Service was very good all around - the pool bars were a bit slow. They had activities every day if you wanted to join in - aqua fitness, volley ball, water polo, tequila tasting, zumba dancing. Front desk was good - easy to check in and very accommodating. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was a resort mall in between the resorts but it was pricey. There was a bowling alley, arcade room, merry go round carousel and skating pad - all fee for service which was disappointing. There were many water parks for kids which were amazing as well as an 18 hole mini putt course. This location was about an hour from the airport and the transportation took a bit long to organize from the airport. Going back to the airport was no issue. All in all - a very nice spot, beautiful beach, good food and good service. The only regret was wifi was only available at certain times and in 2 locations - either the mall or one of the lobby bars and reception was not that great. Of course you could pay a fee and then I'm sure reception was just fine. But it is vacation time but sometimes business needs to be attended to. I would recommend this to others.

Hilton Vallarta Riviera Resort: Consistently great experience
We have visited this hotel twice in the past three years, and this experience was even better than the first.
The food was just as great, but this time no reservations were required for the sit-down restaurants (we never waited for a table, although I heard things had been a bit busier before we arrived).
The rooms are quite nice - comfortable beds, well-stocked (and included) mini-bar, and EXCELLENT wifi.
The beach and pools are excellent. We decided to book cabana each day for an e[... read more]xtra charge, but we also saw plenty of pool chairs available throughout the day. I don't know if it was an especially quiet week (early February), but this was great to see becuase I personally hate having to go down to the pool early to claim a spot.

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: Hardrock riviera maya
Not a fan of them not heating the pool, not a fan of now requiring reservations, not a fan of rotating closing restaurants, not a fan of the lack of anti pasta bar no longer being in the Italian restaurant. Too many changes from last year for us to go back a 4th time. Staff we dealt with was great but our friends experience wasn’t the same at check in as ours

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort
Place was great staff were very accommodating, comfy clean rooms, once we figured out the resort map getting around was easy to walk or jump in a shuttle. Buffet had many choices, Restaurants were great, recommend you book these as soon as you get in. Met many people who have been coming to resort for over eight years so hearing that we knew we were in the right place. Managed to play golf and go snorkeling and tour of caves underwater very cool. Moon Palace Cancun: Amazing Resort
We stayed at the Grand Moon Palace in the first week of February and had the best time yet of all the resorts we have tried.
The grounds were well kept, the walkways excellent, the golf cart bus service was exceptional. You didn’t have to walk anywhere. The quality of the food was above average to excellent and the choice of restaurants was too large to experience them all in one week. The service staff were always friendly and very hard working.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Love this resort people are amazing!!!!
We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum the hotel is really big but it's beautiful grounds are incredible the rooms need a face lift very basic but very clean the only thing was when we entered the room there was a musty smell they tried to fix it by giving the room a deep clean and put an humidifier in the room but it did not get much better they also wanted to change our room but we only had a few days left so we decided to stay... the customer service is fantastic they do everything to hel[... read more]p you, food was good... the best was the entertainment live music until 11:00 pm for people that like to dance this place is wonderful. The animation team make your stay incredible to do all the activities you need to stay at the main pool lots to do. Beach is okay first few days water and sand very clean but then we got lots of wind and rainfall so we got all the seaweed but they try to clean it up. I would return to this hotel.

Zel Cozumel: Back for a 7th year!
* A+ for the welcoming staff (includes the main dining room; bar services; room attendants) - a B+ for the front desk (helpful as long a you did not have a major problem)
* Upgrades since our last visit (January 2018) are obvious. The resort is now painted in a neutral beige/white (rather than the 1980s themed bright yellow!) Tower bathroom in room are mainly now walk-in showers - very nice with overhead shower fixture.
* Glad to have a dresser placed in our tower room (needed for a two w[... read more]eek stay) but many people did NOT have a place to put their clothing except for a small closet.
* Areas are well maintained and CLEAN - except for the two bathrooms (by the pool + downstairs by the restaurants). For only two stalls used all day … they need more bathrooms. The attendants worked to keep them clean but when used toilet paper is requested to be put into a basket (not down the toilet) the smell is overpowering. Needs to be emptied on an hourly basis if that is their request.
* We are not 'foodies' so we ate at the regular restaurant buffet for our meals. Good choices, but could be hotter.
* Wages are low, so we always tip generously. $3USD at breakfast and lunch; $5 at dinner. (If we want our room cleaned - fresh towels every other day we tip $5 and usually some fun school supplies/stickers/treats etc. - we just leave the sign on the door 'Do Not Disturb' if not needing cleaning). The employees work non-stop and are so pleasant to guests - saddened to see zero gratuity left at numerous tables.
* As two late 50s adults, we definitely prefer the Tower rooms (8th floor or higher) and which is connected to the adult only pool and bar. Elevator service is prompt, although the stairways are handy for lower floors.
* As we are very familiar with Cozumel, we purchase two bicycles in town for our two weeks (not at the Mega) and are able to safely explore the 5km route into town, and zip around the backroads of town with no issues. (Nice to get away from the Tourists!)
* Our usual travel agent was not aware that a NEW tax came into effect on January 1, 2019 at all Cozumel hotels. (I think that it is an environmental tax which amounts to about 24 pesos per day = our two weeks cost approximately $18USD.) Only mentioning this as it was charged when we were checking in - you may wonder 'what is going on as I've totally paid for my holiday' when they ask for your credit card and charge ???pesos)

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Another Great Vacation
We just returned from our third stay at the Royal Decameron Complex in beautiful Bucerias. We travelled with family and friends. The resort is a complex of six building blocks. I requested block 6 as it is the furthest away from the main part of the resort and therefore quieter and although there is a bar closeby, we have never been disturbed by excessive noise. Our room, 6224 had a king bed, couch, table and chairs, TV with cabinet for storage, nighttables with drawers, a good sized closet with[... read more] safe, 3 piece bathroom (shower only). The bed was VERY firm but I was able to sleep comfortably. Others might consider it too hard. There is no fridge in the room but one can be requested (not sure if there is an extra charge). Bottled water was provided and bottles could be refilled at the bar. There is a store at the resort and the supermarket is within walking distance for extra water, snacks, etc. There are two large buffet style restaurants as well as specialty restaurants which have to be reserved in advance. We ate at the Japanese restaurant which was good and also the Brazilian which was ok but not my favourite as I don't eat a lot of red meat. The food at the buffet was plentiful with lots of choices. The staff were friendly and always pleasant. There were a total of five pools and lounge chairs were plentiful. We didn't spend a lot of time sitting at the pool as we always had plans with friends and family. The beach was well maintained and chairs were plentiful. Some guests brought blow up mattresses for the plastic chairs as they would be uncomfortable to lie on for long periods of time. I didn't do a lot of sitting as I like to be active and took advantage of the many walking paths. There is a gym with cardio equipment and weights and a spa. I had a lovely facial and friends had massages. The spa services are not included but are reasonably priced and there are specials during the week such as a couples massage. There are activities at the pool during the day and I did some pottery painting which was enjoyable. This was also at an additional cost depending on what you chose to paint. The staff glazed the pottery and corrected any mistakes. I was very pleased with the jewelry box I painted. At night there were theme shows at the theater and also a disco. I watched a few shows which were entertaining but never stayed up for the disco as I was always tired after a full day of activities. We stayed for 9 nights and were sorry our vacation went by so quickly. Can't wait to return next year!
