St James Club and Villas: Good opportunities to make holiday personal

Staff is wonderful, events are numerous and varied. Challenging to book reservations for two restaurants as exclusive vacationers have first priority leaving very late dinner times. Due to weather we were unable to take advantage of excursions from resort. Bed this time was uncomfortable and concessions to help were not successful. A different mattress would have alleviated the situation. This was our second time.

Jolly Beach Antigua: A great vacation

The resort is clean and kept up by the maintenance staff. The Beach was clean, white sand and there were alot of places to lay down with shade. The lunch on the beach was really good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are dated, but clean, the beds are comfy and the air conditioner and fan kept us comfortable. Our screen on the balcony was broken, but not a big deal. Pineapple Beach Club: Best Vacation Ever

Even though this is only a 4 star hotel, it was by far our favourite vacation ever. It is a quiet and intimate resort but still fun and entertaining. The staff? Wow. Friendly lovely and so helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious and the location stunning. Loved my quiet times all over the resort but especially from my balcony overlooking the incredible views. It is not glam and flashy so if that is what you want, don’t go ( leave it for us!! ) and if you read negative reviews ignore them [... read more]. Some people just complain about anything. As I said it’s not glam or luxurious but why do you need that when you have this paradise to relax in. You will feel at home here and not lack for anything. Definitely going back next year!

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing for 5 star luxury

Very disappointed in this luxury resort. I will NEVER stay at a Royalton Resort agin! Food was below average and limited. Steak restaurant had no steak! Non alcoholic beverages not provided. Service in all areas tardy or ignored. Resort service workers went on strike 2nd day we were there, no compensation offered. Room cleaned on 3rd and 5th day, fridge stocked 1x in 7 days. Horrible experience, I wished I went to Aruba

Pineapple Beach Club: Wonderful resort!

We stayed at PBC from Feb 1-8 and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. This is a smaller resort with a beautiful beach. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The rooms are dated and could use an update. The food is good, we especially enjoyed the Outhouse, Pineapple grill and the Pelican snack grill. The staff were really amazing, attentive and very friendly. A big shoutout to AnneMarie the fun team manager who is a real firecracker and always engaging the guests in a variety of activities. We rea [... read more]lly enjoyed the pool exercises and the evening entertainment! This is a very relaxed resort, no need to rush around to reserve pool or beach chairs. We would definitely recommend this resort if you’re looking for a low key adults only experience.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Very nice resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Royalton Diamond Club. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The beach was fantastic; Deep Bay was great for swimming. Entertainment in the evenings was enjoyable. Overall, we would return.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Jolly Beach - Antigua - January 2025

being it was a 3 star, that is exactly what we got. As long as you go in remembering that, you will be ok. The hotel is old and outdated, the rooms are old and tired, there is a lot of room for upgrades and improvement. First resort I have been to where you dont get your room cleaned unless you stay over 8 nights. You can get your room cleaned if you pay $10 per clean, which we were told would happen before we went BUT at check-in, they didnt bring it up or offer it to us so we forgot. Days [... read more] later after not having our room cleaned, we asked about it. The lady who talked with my friend said 'sure, we will clean it tomorrow' and 'we can do your friends room too', well they got their room cleaned and we didnt, when I asked the next day I was asked 'did you sign a form to get your room cleaned?' I said no, then I was told it was an error that they cleaned the other room and they shouldn't have gotten their room cleaned without signing and agreeing to pay. In the end I never did get my room cleaned, but they did bring up new towels and bathroom supplies. Which I must say the bathroom shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion were wonderful, my hair was soft and shiny all week. Our friends had issues with the toilet in their room but we didnt. There were also a number of blackouts over the week, only lasted up to a minute but still happened, and there was no water one day, we were on an excursion so we didnt notice but that is inconvenient. There is also only one sit down, make a reservation restaurant, which works for the number of guests but we like more options. The buffet was very well done but buffet is my least favorite type of meal. The staff were friendly, the beach was gorgeous, the pool bar and pool dining were great. would be nice if they had a food station available for in between the buffet and restaurant, there is no food available for late night snacking. Excursions were fine, we booked through the Air Canada rep, cost was fair. Island is very pretty and small enough to travel in a day. Most side roads are terrible but you get that in every small island. Overall, we had a great time, lots of sun and relaxation which is what we went for, the rest are just details. So, if you are ok with the 3star rating, then go and enjoy this resort.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Joly Beach Antigua

The beach and grounds of this resort are beautiful as are the two pools and two raised gazebos. Enjoyed the burger/hot dog/chicken grill on the beach and the bar. The hotel staff were mostly sad or not accomodating and often lied to you when you asked them for something. I was told that "all of the phones are under water" when I told them that my phone was broken so I couldn't contact my friend who was in a different area of the hotel. The 3rd floor room was very small with a narrow concrete [... read more] bench and concrete end tables. After being moved to the first floor (after multiple trips back to the desk and being told that the manager was not in) , I was given a first floor room where the phone didn't work, the sliding screen door didn't slide and there was a large animal hole right outside the small patio. This room had an old dresser and night tables. There was a pipe in the ceiling that was not covered with a screen. Every night I cleared crickets and other bugs from my floor. I am not sure if they came in the pipe or under the door. The covered front desk/ waiting area is small and the only other outdoor covered area near the hotel was a coffee area. Breakfast and supper meals were fine; the lunch buffet was insufficient and birds were constantly in the fruit bowls which had no covers. Not sanitary or appetizing to have bird poop on your fruit. There was only one sit down restaurant - an Italian one and you needed to book it at 7.30 am.for that day. This hotel was rated a 3 star. I would rate the grounds and beach a 5 star, the staff a 1 star and the interior rooms a 1 star. For the money, stay somewhere else.

St James Club and Villas: Outstanding resort

St James's Club is an amazing resort. Our third visit and would return again. Excellent food, clean rooms, friendly and kind staff. Grounds very well maintained. Only a 45-minute drive from the airport. Although a family resort, was quiet.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Disappointing

This resort did not meet the standards we we expecting. The food at both the buffet and the a la carte restaurants was acceptable but did not offer either the variety or the quality we were expecting at a Resort of this stature. Despite being the busy season, there were frequent "not available" meals on the menus and unavailable ingredients. One night in the Italian restaurant, two people of our foursome got their orders while the other two waited over 10 minutes to receive theirs. There  [... read more]were many small inconveniences. In our room, one day the safe failed to open as we were about to leave and we had to wait for Security to open it. The seal around our balcony door was defective and the sound of wind in our room was near constant. There were many more inconveniences each too small to mention but collectively very bothersome. Sunwing sent us an email shortly after arrival advising that their local Nexus representatives would be holding a meeting in the lobby at 10 the next morning. After arrival we and others eventually found out that the "meeting" was actually at 9:30 the following morning. Overall, just too many lapses to forgive.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Get what u pay for

The resort is aging for sure. Restrooms around the resort are in need of some major upkeep/renos. Bedrooms very small, but we only slept there so not a big deal. Rooms are never cleaned unless u book a maid 24 hours in advance at $10 a clean. This was not communicated very well. Our king bed room had no fridge/coffee maker etc, but heard the 2 double bed rooms did. We never saw a groundskeeper in the 7 days we were there, I almost got taken out from a large bush branch sticking out (I wasn’ [... read more]t paying attention), it was gone 2 days later but the other 6 smaller branches were still protruding all week. The food was fantastic! Pizza factory (only a la carte) was great (not just pizza), but reservations are required and you can not book 2 days in a row. Unfortunately food is not 24hours as there is no sports bar or area for later in the evening, just breakfast, lunch and supper. No late night eats. Could put something in the coffee cafe from 10-1:00 am (fridge with wraps/subs from lunch). Playing cards til midnight requires some snacks lol. Beach was beautiful, excursions were nice- jeep ride, catamaran cruise, and a local taking us by taxi to the city and across the island was fantastic. Weather wasn’t the best, rained several days and the resort has very limited indoor areas to stay dry. No daytime entertainment and limited night time entertainment (which was fine with us). definitely an older clientele. Staff was hit or miss for friendliness but it seems like they could use more staff which may be relevant, especially in the bars. More training needed for the bartenders, we left many a drink behind because we literally couldn’t drink them. Small market huts on the beach, people very nice and not pushy. Enjoyed ourselves but would not return.

Pineapple Beach Club: Amazing resort!

The grounds, pathways, facilities and food were tremendous! The beach was glorious! The room was very basic but fine. I loved the low, more intimate style of buildings and the activities were fun too!

Jolly Beach Antigua: Tired but wonderful!

Had a great time at this resort. The pros were the amazing beach, friendly staff and good food. We met more people on this trip than any we have ever been on. Friendly atmosphere! Would highly recommend paying the extra to get the king room. The super saver room is literally a jail cell (almost had to store our luggage in the balcony) with only a double bed. Not keen on the daily line up for the a la carte but the buffet was good!

Jolly Beach Antigua: Just no.

Fast answer: we wouldn’t go back. The beach: beautiful powdered sand always cool to the feet. The water was calm every day. Really easy to find a seat no matter time of day. Pools: no one used them. At all. Everyone’s at the beach, pools are small and rather boring. Rooms: this was the biggest mistake. The rooms are tiny. And we paid an enormous amount for a “super saver room” and there wasn’t even a spot to put one luggage and no closet space. Washroom was tiny but ok, stand up show [... read more]er with a weird column running through it and peeled off broken tiles up top. You get a physically key for in room safe at check in. No mini fridge. Two outlets to plug in Canadian stuff. Decent free wifi connection in the room. No room cleaning or changing of towels unless you call it in ($10USD). Ask for towels or toiletries for free anytime you like. Food: lacks flavour and anything that does have flavour has curry. Desserts are also bland. I’d compare it to what people usually say about Cuba, though I e had better food in cuba. Service: there were no specific arguments but you can just tell the reception staff are generally rude. The hotel has an archaic check in system and room keys on bracelets. Staff is super nice everywhere but front desk. Entertainment: they had something every night except Sunday. None of it caught anyone’s attention and people just ignored it. One night was a karaoke night. Another was a one man show who sang and played a keyboard. Another was a one woman show with a DJ that felt like a boring wedding with songs like YMCA. Everyone just hung out at Long Bar and chatted. Amazing bartenders who impressively kept up. 60% of people were from Canada (mostly Toronto and area or Windsor), 30% from UK and 10% from the US.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Amazing Stay

From the time we arrived, the staff was wonderful and willing to help any way they could. Even allowing me to use their personal cell phone to book a rental vehicle. The resort was clean and well maintained. The buffet had a great selection for all meals with an amazing dessert area. I tried all the restaurants and they were equally amazing if not better. I loved the cafe shop which I visited daily and some times twice for a pick me up and the treats they had and daily gelato. The nightly entert [... read more]ainment got better every day. The beach area never seemed crowded with space available regardless of what time I arrived. I was a diamond club member and my butlers, Kai and Brandon were incredible. Both made my trip relaxing and enjoyable. For those travelling with young children or teenagers, there were areas for them to enjoy their vacation as well. I will be back there soon as it will be my place to go.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Wonderful place

This resort was beautiful, up to date and classy. The staff at this resort is amazing an very friendly. The music was great and the guests were so friendly and fun. Everyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. The food is just ok, not very much options. I wouldn't say the food was terrible but not great. Pretty close to night clubs n the downtown core. Pool entertainment was fun and the beach was nice too. Place is very clean n pretty and not overly crowded. Jolly Beach Antigua: Nice week away at Jolly Beach Resort

- Food was very good. Many options at all sittings. No complaints there. (4.2/5.0) - Rooms were dated but I new that going into this adventure. Paulette at Reception was great as she accommodated us with a new room as the first room had a few deficiencies that we advised her about (Best to voice your finding at the beginning) (3.5/5.0) - Grounds were clean all around.(4.0 / 5.0) - Beach was very good although semi murky blue waters. (4.2/5.0) - Drinks were fine as I'm primarily a beer drink [... read more]er. That said, cocktails were fine as well. (4.0/5.0) - The one (1) Restaurant' was acceptable but then I'm of Italian decent and am picky with my food from an Italian based format. (4.0/5.0).

Pineapple Beach Club: Great location, lovely staff and nice public space updates. Reception and room were disappointments.

This was our third visit to Pineapple Beach and the restaurant(s), cafe, bar, entertainment and watersport staff were just as lovely as in the past. The beachfront setting and small feel of the resort are definite attractions and the food and dining services were excellent. I have to say that I was very disappointed in the lack of recognition and responsiveness from reception personnel and in our room overall. When booking my room I had hoped for waterfront as we'd been in those on our two pri [... read more]or visits and preferred them but they weren't available. As such I selected a pool terrace room fully knowing that I wouldn't have an ocean view but anticipated trying something different in the quiet pool area. We arrived in our room after dark and did not have a good opportunity to see the area but immediately noted that the entrance to our room was beneath a stairwell. Upon entering our room there was no recognition or welcome for us as returning guests which was a surprise as this is typically standard. In the morning we struggled to open our drapes to let light in and once we were able to slightly pull them open our limited view was of fallen foliage, the back end of wooden stairs and there was no sunlight. To say it was a disappointment is an understatement. This was not a terrace or patio that anyone would sit out on and the two chairs and table were of no benefit. I did attend reception to request the opportunity to obtain a change or upgrade fully anticipating that a cost would be attached but was told there was nothing available across the resort. I was disappointed and proceeded to make the best of it as I was celebrating my birthday while there. This disappointment turned to frustration after I was told by a couple of other guests on resort that they'd requested room changes and they were accommodated. In addition, we struggled to obtain hot water in the room and had a tap that would not turn on in the bathroom. After a visit by maintenance we were told that we needed to let the water run for awhile prior to showering and the tap issue was just not fixed. I spoke with another repeat guest who was familiar with and had stayed in the terrace room block and they noted that this issue was present across the section. Given the issues with fresh water access across Antigua I do think it is highly problematic that a block of rooms must let showers run for 5-7 minutes before hot water becomes available. I hope that management takes the opportunity to address this as I'm sure something can be done to assist with flow and help to reduce this waste. I am uncertain if I'll visit Pineapple Beach again given my dissatisfaction with my recent stay but trust that my experience is not typical.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Beautiful beach

The resort was beautiful, clean and the beach was perfect! The staff walked off and strike one day while we were there. The staff were not happy and did not want to talk to people staying there. Often we had to get our own cutlery, water and rarely were offered coffee in the morning. The staff have an impact on your overall stay and since none were happy it had a negative impact. The weather was perfect.

First impression... NO WOW FACTOR 1st day: check in was like herding cattle, took 1.5 hours to get to our room. 2nd day: asked for non alcoholic beverages. Entertainment meh. Food meh 3rd day: asked again for non alcoholic beverages, 3 different employees said they were on it right away. Served a bowl of potatoes from Steak restaurant, no steak available! Entertainment same as last night and 1st night. Resort workers go on strike!!!! Day 4: asked Sunwing rep to get non alcohol beverages.. [... read more]. I've been offered water and coffee. Food meh, I'm ready to go home!!! Room fridge has not been stocked in 3 days. Day 5: I'm not happy about being here, I spent $5000. for a 5 star, luxury stay. This place is horrible!! Day 6: guest service want to address my complaints... I leave tomorrow, too late for that Day 7: I will NEVER stay at another Royalton Resort or travel Sunwing Vacations
