Riu Republica: Fantastic, friendly and fun.

The Riu Republica was fantastic. I’d give it a 4 rating. The only complaint I have is I had to ask for clean dishes a few times. They could definitely do better with that!The food selection was fantastic. Our room was fantastic and well kept. We did leave Spanish notes with gifts and tips. Resort was full but never felt full. No waiting for a drink. No having trouble finding a chair. Entertainment was great. People and staff were friendly and fun. They had games during the day and prizes . I won [... read more] at darts twice lol . Apparently I’m really good at darts in beach sand and sun with a drink ha ha. Honestly I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Loved it! It was a great time. Never felt overly noisy . Sprayed ourselves with no scent musk oil ever evening. Didn’t get one bug bite. Never got sick. People complain for nothing. Oh and never waited more than a few minutes for a drink.

Riu Republica: This RIU not as nice as the Los Cabos one!

I found the resort way too big (1300+ rooms). The first room was not nice. It was on the ground floor and the balcony would not lock. The security box was closed so had to get someone to open it. The toilet ran. The bar fridge had no door on the icebox so it was over iced and was making a huge puddle on the floor. The phone would not call down to the front desk. So we changed rooms the next day and that was on the top floor and definitely nicer. Now, I think we still had residual sprin [... read more]g breakers because there was a lot of noise. Eventually it would quiet down. The restaurants...just two needed reservations and that was crazy. They were both steak houses. We were told be there for 6pm to get a reservation ticket. We walked right in. At the end of the week, we went to go there for 6pm and were then told, no its 5pm you have to be there. Next day, we went there for 5pm and there was a huge line up. Lucky we knew someone closer to the front and just dined with them. Then that restaurant I swear did not have any A/C on, it was brutal. Our favourite restaurant was the one with the pink chairs , I think it was the Kulinarium. We went twice it was so good. The pools were fine, the bars were fine. There are mosquitoes! We only saw the Michael Jackson show which was pretty good. The beach is beautiful, hot hot hot but the water was rough. Got in everyday anyway because I love the ocean. I am 64 and have been going south for years but my time in an 'all inclusive' may be done. I think now I would prefer quieter, smaller and maybe I control if/when for my food and drink. All in all, and in the end, not too bad but I would say this is a 3.5 resort and not the 4 to 4.5 it reports.

Riu Republica: For a Riu Hotel, it was subpar.

For a Riu Hotel, it was subpar. Very disappointed. First room, fridge was leaking all over floor, safe would not open, toilet ran, the phone did not work and the sliding door (ground floor) did not lock. Had to walk to reception as phone did not work to request a different room and was told none was available until the next day, but would have someone in to fix issues in 25 minutes later. 3 hours later we returned to our room where nothing was addressed! Had to walk back to reception (long w [... read more]alk as we were at very back of hotel) to complain. Our floor at this time now had a small river on it where we could have easily slipped and injured ourselves. They finally sent someone to fix issues. Switched rooms the next day (thank God!). I've been to several Riu Hotels, this did not measure up to the 5 star rating.

Riu Republica: Loved this Resort!

I loved staying at the Riu Republica. Yes, it's very large. Yes, it's adults only so you can expect a party vibe. I enjoyed staying at the back of the resort, even though it was far from the beach, because it was quieter and more relaxing. The food was delicious, especially breakfast at Mangu. I enjoyed the Italian and Japanese buffets, and the Prime Rib at the pink restaurant (that begins with a K) was worth going back for. Shout out to Yuma, Reyes (del Sol), Made, Rudy, Roa, Angela, and Sandy for their excellent service and friendly conversation. I enjoyed practicing my Spanish. My room was clean, well attended to, and comfortable. The front desk took care of any needs that I had, although I had to walk to the lobby because the room phone did not work. It should be noted that North American style plugs DO work in the room so no need to bring an adapter. The resort store is well-stocked, but expect to pay inflated prices for gifts and goods. I would recommend taking extra sunscreen because it is very expensive at the store! I would definitely go back!

Riu Emerald Bay: Excellent resot

Extremely friendly staff. Clean Excellent entertainment location was great not to far from the airport I really can't find anything negative to say. Yes the elevators were slow but really who is in such a rush on Holiday's. I would gladly return to this resorts.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Beautiful Beach!

Overall, the hotel grounds and rooms were lovely - well appointed, modern and clean. We felt safe and comfortable. The staff overall was accommodating and friendly. The entertainment staff was exceptional (not sure if any of them ever sleep!). The beach was an absolute 10/10. There are a few things that could be improved: (1) the food was average at best for a palace resort. The breakfast options were probably the most enjoyable, but for the most part the overall food were consistently th [... read more]e same for all meal times (no theme days or anything like that). The best lunch option was at the Jerk Hut for authentic Jamaican jerk chicken and sides - delicious!; (2) the reservation process for the a la carte restaurants is a bit clunky. Many people complained about it (2 seating times: either 6:30 or 8:15 and they get scooped fast), and sad to say but overall the a la carte restaurants weren’t very good. There were some really good cocktail and mocktail options though! (3) if you’re not an early riser, be prepared to get up pretty early (by 6-6:30am) to find a good spot on the beach - it’s the best place to spend the day! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort because we all have different opinions! Suitable for friends, families and couples alike!

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Beautiful Beach!

Riu Montego Bay: Amazing resort.

The grounds were well groomed and beautiful. Food was fantastic and plentiful. Entertainment was amazing. Rooms were very clean and had a week stocked fridge. Pool was a fun time. All and all it was a fantastic time with friends.

Riu Guanacaste: Large resort geared for families with children

I stayed for a week in March-April 2026. The resort is huge with lots of activities geared towards families with children. The grounds are fairly well kept but lots of litterbugs. The pools are not super clean. They allow people to swim all hours of the night so they don't get properly sanitized. There were cups and limes and lemon slices floating around daily. The beach is OK. Lots of currents and not great for young children. The sand is extremely hot and there is limited shade. The fo [... read more]od is fabulous. There is literally a buffet with something for everyone. There are 5 a-la-cartes but only reservations for one is permitted and that is the Steakhouse. The others are very difficult to get into and not well organized. Even with the app downloaded we were not able to reserve at the other restaurants. There is only 1 bar open 24 hours and it is indoors which was disappointing. We stayed in the renovated section and the rooms are nice and spacious. Cleaning staff were very good and we always had enough towels. The resort is remote so if you like to venture off resort, the nearest town is about 30-45 minutes away. You can feed the white faced monkeys with a short walk down the beach. The love grapes and hard boiled eggs. Although it is cute and very memorable keep in mind they are wild and food aggression can happen. Also if there are not tourists, the monkeys don't learn to forage which can be a bad thing. The staff are pleasant but not overly. If you smoke, there is literally one area to smoke in and it has concrete tables and benches so not very comfortable and other guests tend to walk through it as a shortcut and complain about the smoke. The bus ride from the airport is a little bump at times and takes about 30-45 minutes but no stops along the way which is nice. Overall I would recommend this resort with caution depending on the type of trip you are expecting.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Lovely resort

We enjoyed the resort. It was clean, spacious. We were able to find lounge chairs around the pool. Also, lots of shaded areas!! ( which is rare at other resorts). Sports team, including sports instructor " Nacho Loco" was fun and fabulous! The one chink would be We were told no reservations needed at the restaurants however, one did need to line up to get a beeper/ buzzer to secure a spot at the more popular restaurants. Riu Ocho Rios: Fantastic Resort

I would like to start off by saying that this is my second time at this resort. The resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and kind. I would like to suggest that maybe the resort could consider getting golf carts to bring the guests to either ends of the resort because it is very big. I would also like to suggest maybe doing theme nights at the buffet restaurant.

Riu Ocho Rios: Great Resort

The Hotel was Fantastic.....a bit large and would prefer to book a smaller hotel, there were a lot of people and at full capacity at times the buffet looked like a school cafeteria....all in we had a great time

Riu Dunamar: Great resort

Beautiful resort. Very clean. Staff was always super nice. The restaurants and buffet were great! Lots of room at the beach any time of day.. pools were a little busy during the second half of our stay, but that was a new wave of US spring breakers arriving. drinks were cold. bar tenders were superb. Rooms were fantastic. Balcony was great. We did find the hallways rather loud during the night once the spring breakers arrived, lots of yelling and banging on doors.. we would stay at  [... read more]this resort again without hesitation.

Riu Guanacaste: Great for the Family

Riu Guanacaste was an excellent choice for a trip with family and friends. The staff was very friendly, and I'd like to give a special shout-out to Jesus, the manager of the cafeteria in Liberia, who was incredibly helpful with our group dinners. We also found affordable excursions outside the resort, which are perfect for seniors who prefer not to engage in adventurous activities. This is the best-kept secret growing as a tourist destination.

Riu Guanacaste: Not so great

Service was horrible. The resort staff was not helpful at all. I will not recommend this to anyone. What else can I say. I am disappointed. The location was OK, the food was not the greatest. This was not a 5 star resort.⁶⁶

Riu Playa Blanca: Good reaprt

Overall the resort was good. We enjoyed the restaurants and pools. However breakfast should start at 6 am. Pool side bar opens too late in the morning. Scuba Caribe was not a good choice. You should not promote them. Extreme was far better. On resort entertainment was good.

Riu Playa Blanca: Panama Playa Blanca

Hated people saving chairs at 6am Otherwise Awesome Hotel Liked the tours we went on Staff was friendly - great mini bar service, very clean - maid did excellent job liked the easy, fast check-in thank you

Riu Guanacaste: Beautiful Resort

We stayed from March 21st to 28th....the hotel was beautiful all re-done, clean and grounds well kept. Anything we needed we requested on the app and within a short time received. There was a lot to do on the resort for all ages. The staff were all friendly and great service at the pool bar especially by Moises he was fantastic! Food wise we found it average with no reservations (except for steakhouse) had to arrive early to get table or a buzzer. We found busier on weekend with locals coming in [... read more] and staff tended to cater to them first but not a lot of delay in service. The beach is a public beach so there was no beach bar nor shade to lay out but nice to walk up and down...there are local vendors etc. We did one excursion which was a few things in one and was amazing. All in all we had a fantastic time and wished we had a few more days at the resort.

Riu Guanacaste: Riu Guanacaste - Amazing Resort!

Riu Guanacaste resort is a beautiful escape. Our oceanview room, the sound of the waves, and time spent at the pool reading in a lounge chair or enjoying a drink at the swim-up bar, set the tone for pure relaxation. The staff was very attentive and friendly, the resort was spotless, the food choices were plentiful, and the entertainment was enjoyable. The beach was very nice and the ocean was refreshing. Costa Rica itself was unforgettable — from sunset snorkeling cruises and volcano hot spri [... read more]ngs to waterfalls, horseback riding, and a seaside lunch in Coco Beach. The Howler Monkeys at the resort were entertaining, and the white‑faced monkeys along the beach made it all feel wonderfully wild. Costa Rica is truly *Pura Vida*, and we highly recommend it.

Riu Palace Antillas: Very dissapointing location overall.

Very dissapointing experience for a 5 * location. I would say it's a 3* facility for service & food selection and quality. Service by front desk leaves a lot to be desired. Unhelpful overall. Never met or saw a Manager meeting customers or asking opnions the entire stay. The decor inside and outdoors were not inspiring. Especially the ala carte locations. The food selection and preparation not upto 5* level. The checkin and checkout process was a disgrace for a 5 * hotel. It felt like  [... read more]a college checkin. Guests are hearded like cattle to be seat for breakfast. No one walks you to your table. It was a never to be repeated experience!
