Great Resort

This resort was amazing after the initial check in. We arrived and they were double booked so we were told we would be upgraded. We had no idea they were overbooked though. We thought that was great and after doing tons of paper work left to go next door. When we got there they had nothing and were told we had to check in again...another hour or so...and that is was because our resort was over booked and we would have to leave and go back there after 2 days. Who wants to spend and afternoon of only one week moving:( After getting checked in finally and me not having a fridge we found the resort to be excellent. There was lots to do, lots of activity and the food was also good. The beach was one of the cleanest on the strip and always found a chair. The pool was large and lots of chairs as well. The steakhouse and Italian restaurants are both really good for an all inclusive. The maid service also was excellent. Carmen was a doll. Got us a new fridge and filled it with beverages!!!!!

Great Family Vacation

We had a lovely time at the resort! Our family of four, including two 6 year olds, enjoyed our stay! The beach and pools are very nice! Our hotel room was ok, we liked that it was close to the beach. The maids did an ok job at cleaning. We never knew what time they would show up and what they would leave for towels or drinks, it varied day to day. We left lots of things laying around and nothing was stolen. Samuel at the pool bar made the whole pool experience and the little new guy at the [... read more] front desk was very kind and helpful, Anjelo or Anyelo I think was his name. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, some were not but we didn’t let that bother us. We really liked that there were covered walkways most of the way to and from the lobby and beach, so we could get shade if we wanted. The wifi was give or take, mostly take, and there should be more plug ins both in the rooms and around the resort so people can charge their devices. The grounds were kept ok, maybe a few more staff would help. The beach was well kept and we really appreciated that everyone took their towels or they were removed each night so every day was a fresh day. We loved all the palm trees on the beach and huts to get out of the sun. The birds were my favourite and I enjoyed photographing them. Maybe more care given to the wildlife areas would be an extra bonus to photographers like myself. The food was good. We especially liked the Rodeo Steakhouse. The house white wine was disgusting cloudy and not drinkable, the house red was ok. The bottled wines at the a la cartes were good though. I wish there had been more champagne for mimosas, but made due with vodka and orange. We really liked the natural fruit juice bar on the beach. As well as the daily and nightly activities. All in all it was a great vacation!!

Beautiful resort

THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN WITH FRIENDLY SERVICE. THE GROUNDS WERE VERY CLEAN ALL KINDS OF DUCKS DIFFERENT PLACES TO REST. THE BEACH WAS GOOD WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. VERY NICE POOL.ALL KINDS OF ACTIVITIES INCLUDING GOLF. ENTERTAINMENT WAS GREAT AND ENTERTAINMENT PERSONEL WERE GREAT.THE ONLY PROBLEM IS NOT WITH THE HOTEL ITS WITH ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO SPEND THEIR TIME ON THE SMART PHONE INSTEAD OF PARTICIPATING IN ALL THE ACTIVITIES AND ATTENDING THE ENTERTAINMENT THERE IS NO MINGLING LIKE IT USED TO B [... read more]E !!!! Punta Cana Great

Our group of 4 has travelled many times. The Catalonia in Punta Cana, DR is one of the few resorts we will consider returning too. The rooms average... best part were quiet at night. The beach beautiful, the first few days the water was quite clear. The grounds beatifully kept. The food has room for improvement as we find in most Carribean countries.

Good value resort

We stayed in this resort in spring of 2009, 2012, 2013 and decided to visit it again in December 08-15 of 2017. Our room 1218 is a regular junior suit and we found it in overall good technical condition and the housekeeping was also very good. A very friendly personnel is in all areas of services; all are polite and eager to assist. We felt very comfortable of staying in full harmony of the excellent weather, pleasant environment and good maintained premises. Thank You All !

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: A GREAT RESORT was our 4th visit there.

The resort was great, we love it. They were doing some renovations which shows that they were putting it back into the resort to make it better for us. The rooms are a good size, the grounds are well kept, and the a la carts have no faults that I found. They have a few small shops that carry the same type of souvenirs as they do in town and they are very well priced, some things were even cheaper at the resort. They have a large variety of excursions to pick from and you could snorkel righ [... read more]t at the resort and see plenty of different fish. The beach is quite large and they keep it clean when necessary, from seaweed and such. I found the staff at the Catalonia are very friendly and polite, from the ground keepers to the management that work the front desk and all in between. They make you feel like family. My wife booked through Tripcentral and they made it very easy and convenient, they answered all her questions and guided her when she had difficulty's. We flew with Transat Airlines for the first time and would do it again in a heart beat, 1 direct flight is so much better then 2 with West Jet. In saying my wife and I can't wait to book again for next year to the same resort.

Beautiflu resort!

We stayed at this resort from Nov 9th to the 16th. Overall experience was great. Here are the particulars: Beach: Very large, nice sand. A lot of seaweed though, which was cleaned up every morning. The water was not very clear, we did not venture in, a lot of weed beds. Pool: Perfect. Tons of chairs, and places for sun or shade. Pool bar is great. Steakhouse was preferred, but were great. Grounds: Spectacular. Golf: Did not go. Staff: Perfect, never had issues, very friendly. Lots of entertainment around the pool, but they respected those who did not want to participate. Timeshare presentation: We did do this/ It took an hour, and when we said we were not interested, it was over. Not pushy at all, and did not try to sell to hard. Room: Newly renovated, everything was perfect. Dual rain showers, awesome! Would go back!

Great Resort

The resort was great place will be returning next year hopefully. The staff at this hotel went out of their way to help you find your way around and make sure you were as comfortable as possible. The food was good had no problem finding something to eat. again a very relaxing resort.

Amazing Resort

The grounds are amazing, beautifully well kept. The staff are friendly, polite, fantastic people. The beach is amazing, the animation team is great. The rooms are nice and big and so clean. The shower is a little small but there's also a large tub in the bathroom you can hop into.

Ok resort

This resort would be more for an older crowd no disco and my 17 year old daughter was harassed by the staff they were very aggressive it was beautiful but not much to do the stores didn't sell much the power went out twice

Great Resort

Very clean resort, Liked the service and food. The beach was also kept well, cleaned daily from the wash ups. The pool area could use more chairs. Would definitely return to this resort. Overall this is a good resort for the value.

Would I go back? YES!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Catalonia resort. We were a group of 17 people. My husband and I thought that the resort was rated and priced accordingly. If you are easy to please and easy going you will not have any issues here. We have no complaints only a few “preferences”. GROUNDS: Size and layout were good, we could easily walk to and from the lobby/beach from our room. The staff kept the grounds clean and well maintained. Some center pathways are dim at night. ROOMS: We were in [... read more] building 23 the garden side. Nice, clean and a fair size room. Hammock on the balcony is awesome. The water closet and shower (very small shower) were separate from the sink area, bonus for me. Hot water setting is sensitive, we thought we were out of hot water because if you turned the knob too far either way the water got cold again, no issues once we found the sweet spot. Large Tub is nice feature however we did not have much luck finding it’s hot water sweet spot. There were also many people who spoke of 'drips from the ceiling' when the room above them would take a shower. Not sure if it was a plumbing or condensation issue. BEACH: Nice and clean. Clear water, some corrals so you needed to pick your section if you wanted to be in water above the waist. We were always able to find chairs and shade, I recommend going early to reserve them with your towel. POOL: Really neat layout; shallow, deep, whirlpool... however something that annoyed me was that children seemed to gravitate towards the pool bar section since there is a shallow ledge in that area of the pool. Would of been nice if parents would prevented their children from jumping and splashing in this area. (There was plenty of room at the further side of the same pool). FOOD: Good for DR, always something to choose at the buffet, they even had a little kids section at the lobby buffet. Most dessert were mediocre but the churros were yummy. We also tried the a la carts, Caribbean, Italian, Japanese (Great show) and Steakhouse (really great tenderloin and NY). PUBLIC WASHROOMS: Further than what I prefer from the pool/beach area. BARS: Beach and Pool I would suggest sticking to basic ingredient drinks like beer, mojitos, slush and rum. The lobby bar is better equipped to make martinis, fancy cocktail and Caesars (pleased that they had generic clamato). ENTERTAINMENT: Fernando and his team were great to chat with, but the scheduled entertainment could use some help. I preferred the day activities over the night time shows. The evening show “Circus” show was good. LANGUAGE: I would strongly suggest learning some Spanish. The little that I do speak came in handy. We also found that they often understood French better than English since it is similar to Spanish. RECEPTION: No issues with Check in or Check out. We were able to change bigger bills for smaller ones most days. TIPPING: I know Tipping is “Included” but we gave them basic tips (2$ a day for housekeeping and a few small items, 5$ a day at the bars, 6$ a day at restaurants...) and it went a long way, we never had any complaints about any of our services. STAFF: If you find a staff member very helpful, take note of their name. After they get 10 “positive mentions” on the comments cards they get a day off. (Comments cards were handed out at the buffet on Thursday night). OVERALL: May not of been the best resort that I have even been to, but for the price and location it was perfect. Would I recommend? Yes! Would I go back? Yes!

Pretty Good Resort Except for the BOOM, BOOM Tech noise from Pearl Beach Club

We had a good stay here. The grounds were beautiful, the food was good , the rooms were clean even if well worn and the staff were helpful. Front desk excellent. Problem: Techno "club noise" at Catalonia's new adjacent Pearl Beach Club. The BOOM-BOOM sound permiated the entire resort. We had to change rooms as we thought we had a quiet room, BUT not so. We were moved to the other side of the property away frm the noise, but could still hear the very loud boom-boom music even with doors close [... read more]d. We visited the club and it was very modern with six HUGE speakers pointed in the direction of the Catalonia Bavaro .

Amazing Resort

This hotel was amazing. The grounds are just beautiful with all the palm trees and flowers. They even have a Love tree that you can attach a lock on it for the married couples. The food was really good. The Steakhouse is the best. The staff was really great in all bars and restaurants. The rooms are nice and big. You have a big tub in each room. Might need a little maintenance in some rooms but nothing to complain about. Your not in your room that much anyways. Beach is nice and kept cl [... read more]ean the most they can. We stayed in building 20 so we had the perfect view of the pool. Long walk to the restaurant but doesn't matter because the walk there is very nice. Resort is not far from airport about 20 minute drive. Lots of tour options also in the area.

Amazing resort

Great service, very good food,got peanut butter and jam,very nice beach and lots of huts,could used more unberlla at the pool, nice staff and clean rooms over all would go back .could see me staying two week.

Great variety

This resort had a great variety of things to do. The beach was truely amazing as well, I decided to venture in either direction off the resort along the beach, there was no issue with safety among the locals in one direction or other resorts in the other.be a bit aware there is time share people at this resort.

Great Vacation

This was our first visit to the Dominion Republic. The resort was all that I had hoped for. the beach was awesome, with fine sand and clear waters. Although we didn't spend a lot of time at the pool ,it was well taken care of. The rooms were spacious and clean, with a well kept mini bar. I would absolutely to back to the Catalonia again.

Awesome Resort

This resort was awesome. The grounds were clean and beautiful. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was always clean and well tended. The beach and pool areas were clean and well kept. Our overall experience was excellent and we will be back.
