Best year

From booking, our travel and throughout our vacation this 8th visit to Cayo Guillermo was the best..Having familiar friendly, helpful staff and supportive new management was especially noticeable. Everyone was pulling together to make everyone's visit a wonderful experience.The food has always been and continues to be delicious and varied. Attention to the repairs and renovations were amazing. Problem

the hotel was good,and the big problem was the people working there,making a lots of nose and so on which i have to tell several time please 8. o'clock in the morning we are sleeping.2- the food not much chooses i couldn't believe it's not much things to choose.3- there they don't have disco at night to dance,it's first time i see a place has no place to dance.4- we had a lots of delay when we were there and especially when we return .we left the hotel at 6.pm and with all the delay we arrived i [... read more]n montreal at around 3:20 and all this time which is close to 10 hours we stay hungry and in the air plane they don't offer anything.that's really cheep.i don't think i ever travel with air transat again better sunwing or others.

Melia Cayo Guillermo - Great Resort

The staff are wonderful people, so helpful and kind. Resort is lovely with good variety of buffet offerings, a la cart restaurants and entertainment. We took the shuttle bus to an amazing beach Playa Pillar. Would go back without hesitation.

Paradise!

This resort was perfect for our group of 11, with ages ranging from 7 to 70. The staff were fantastic (shout out to Mary at the buffet!!). The beach was one of the best I've been too. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Absolutely Wonderful Resort

Thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at the Melia Cayo Guillermo. This was my third visit to Cuba and I liked and would rank this resort and its food the best of the three resorts I've stayed in so far. Cuba and its people, atmosphere and weather is just so amazing and appreciated by me. Wish I could visit more often and for longer!

Amazing beach.

The hotel was dated can't really say it's a four star even for Cuban standards. The staff was nothing but friendly and helpful. The food was not very good most of it at the buffet was cold. For a Melia resort we were a little disappointed. The weather was sunny all week but so windy couldn't sit on the beach a few days without getting sandblasted.

Great value

The beach, food, and staff we're awesome. The rooms were in need of some TLC, but overall it was a great vacation and we'd go back. Walking distance to other resorts. But the beach was the best we've ever seen. Don't miss the sunrise at the beach.

Holiday from hell!!!!!

March 16th, 2018: Arrived late and exhausted, reception staff could not find us in system and moved on to other people. We were the last people to be processed in our arrival group. 24 hr. access to food and drinks - fresh bun, old ham (looked like had been left out for a while) and slice of cheese Yuk! Day 1: lunch good, beach awesome. Dinner 6:30 pm, by 9 pm not feeling good. Went to room and slept Day 2: had buffet breakfast, started vomiting after I returned to my room, had severe abdomi [... read more]nal pain. By afternoon, condition worsened. Sorry graphic detail here. While I was in my room, I had to run to the bathroom, but; did not make it. Diarrhea and blood trail splashed from my bed to toilet. When my friend came in the room she went for a doctor and someone to clean the floor. I was bleeding out my rectum and in pain, intestines very tender and swollen, belly looked like beach ball. Told my medical staff, not sure if she was a Dr. or a nurse; my condition likely from the sun. Several attempts were made to give me IV. At one point IV fluid built up under my skin until I said my arm hurt and then it was removed. The area was raised up and then bruised badly afterwards. My Arms had bruises from 6 IV attempts. Medical person told me I was fucked. I was given charcoal tablets, antibiotic and medication for bacteria in intestines, also anti-nausea medication, a needle in my bum (not sure what for as English Spanish communication challenges) and electrolyte packets for my water. Day 3: I was asked to check in with the Dr. I stopped by the Air Transat rep as my friend was meeting with him to cancel a trip. He gave me such a look - not pleasant when I mentioned I might have had food poisoning, too sick to discuss. I went to my room. Later was informed that hotel paying my medical bill and that my friend was required to sign off for us not to pursue anything! I spent my time in my room, mostly sleeping or on the toilet during my vacation. I did not eat anything other than a piece of bread, a tiny cinnamon bun and a few bites of plain potato. At one point in my room, I called the desk to say I was sick and asked if I could get some food. I wanted something I might be able to keep down, told I had to go to the restaurant. That night horrible, so noisy!! Practice at band shell for a show and then the show and why loud music after the show is a mystery! Day 4: Laid at VIP lounge until plane ready to board. We paid for VIP. Went purchased VIP passes before I got sick. Thank goodness. If you go, hope you like loud nights, eat safe foods and be prepared to fend for yourself because the hotel is mostly concerned with covering its ass. Staff will not go out of their way to be helpful, they do not communicate with each other or they just do not give a damn! I went to the medical clinic where my Dr. `s office is. Told most likely got food poisoning. My friend and I did not have a vacation. It was a survival test. Really administration staff should have arranged for someone to check in with us to see if we needed anything. We should be reimbursed for our trip plus compensation for pain and suffering! Still recovering at home in Canada as of March 26th, 2018.

Great resort, perfect weather 😀

Everything was to our satisfaction. Considering the latest hurricane great efforts was done to restore the premises and the grounds. One concern I had and would suggest to review the check-out policy for those guests who leave the grounds after 6:00pm

We KNOW Cuba and this was a 4+ for so many reasons!

Grounds were lovely, they did an excellent job but still very sad to see restaurant ruins at entrance Standard room was just that, basic but clean. Staff are overall friendly, courteous and helpful. Beach and pool was cold (but that"-s when we went March 2-9th). Got in each one once along with most other visitors at that time. Loved walking beach, water walkway each day. Beautiful resort!

My boyfriend and I booked a spontaneous four night getaway to melia Cayo Guillermo. I’m not sure why- but I had very low expectations for this resort. I’d been to Cuba several times before, always saying I won’t go back because of the food. But the prices always suck me in- much cheaper than other islands. Anyway- upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised! The resort itself is beautiful! Even more beautiful than the pictures I had seen online. (Minus the international restaurant- not our favourite). It is a good couples or adults resort- not many activities for children to do. The night time show was very well done- lots of talent there. I’m not sure I’d go back here, only because I enjoy experiencing something new- but without a doubt- I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone wanting to travel to Cuba for their next getaway.

BEST BEACH

We just returned from 1 week at Melia Cayo Guillermo. Beach was absolutely beautiful, you could have along walk in either direction. Hotel room clean , but dated. Pool small. We enjoyed the food, could always find a clean table. Drinks were just okay. Service was very good. Activities in daytime was very good. Entertainment not so great , just okay . We would return.

Perfect beach!

This resort was exactly what we were looking for. Having visited Cuba a few times before, we knew what to expect food wise, but everything was very edible. Had breakfast at the pool bar everyday and lunch at the beach bar where they grill fresh fish. The beach was very spacious with lots of chairs available. Amazing Beach

The hotel is clearly still recovering from the hurricane. However, the beach is what we went for and it definitely delivered. Stunning!!!! The only complaints are that there were rarely clean beach towels for us to Exchange. So in a week we were able to exchange twice. Complaint number 2 is that a lot of the staff did not speak English. Customer service could barely understand us or communicate at all. But I guess that because of the hurricane a lot of English speaking workers left because they  [... read more]had to work, so it makes sense. Other than that the resort is small and cozy. Beautiful grounds and an amazing beach.

My Cuba vacation memories

Well, typical of Cuba the white sand beach was wide and clean, the sun was bright and warm, the water was crystal clear and warm. The resort grounds needed some attention but this was understandable due to the hurricane damage. My room was in need of some T.L.C. some stucco pealing, drawer missing in dresser, toilet would not fully flush !!, but the room service / cleaning was good and my bed was comfortable and clean. The employees from the grounds maintenance, attendants, staff, and transportation was great.

Best Trip Ever

The beach goes on and on with snorkelling by just stepping into the clear water. Ocean view rooms with great views! Good food and the best hotel staff EVER! Amazing snorkelling with ‘Jo’. So easy to book! Going back next year! Thank you Tripcentral and Gina for the best trip ever!!

Very pleased all around with our stay at the resort

The beach was wonderful. Food was plentiful and if you like seafood, very good. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Rooms were clean and well kept. I had some very very itchy sand flea bites on our last day and first day home. I certainly will be going back again, for our 6th year there. I did have my towel stolen n the beach. However, because we were returning guests, the cost of the towel was covered by the resort and they also gave us 2 hours extended time on our room the last day for [... read more] free. We have never had any problems in all the years we have been there.

Awesome resort and great staff

We found all areas within the resort very beautiful even after the recent hurricane. The food was great lots of choices even for us vegans! The beach was stunning and the dock was a great addition! Most of all the staff were very beautiful friendly people which made our stay even more special. We would definitely go again and recommend this resort! 5 out of 5!

Fabulous Resort

We had an amazing vacation. It is incredible to see how much Melia has accomplished in such a short time since a hurricane completely devastated their location. Staff are wonderful, attentive, polite and very kind and speak English and Spanish. Night life and shows were great. Ballet, saxophone were breath taking. Internet was better than most resorts. The pool was amazing tho the waterfall at the bar is now a roof top seating area. You can treat yourself to a massage, a hair cut or design etc.There were little flaws like running out of beer and a few brands but they were replenished quickly. Some tourists complained that the Behind hotel areas were not landscaped but, they failed to see how they repurposed broken tiles and made mozaic benches and borders. The views were lovely and the beach was to die for, even with the high tide! The walk out over the ocean with lounge chairs made you feel like you were in a hidden island getaway! Hammocks every where. Tons of beach cabanas for shade. Sports bar and beach bbqs were appetizing. Shoot a game of pool in the lobby while you drink and listen to the band. If you are looking for relaxation this is the resort for you, not party central but don't be afraid to book excursions to the disco bar cave, swim with the Dolphins or travel to the town of Moron! The suites have fabulous beds and the decor is all fresh, new and updated. I look forward to visiting again!

Great resort and great service!

The grounds were quite clean as were the rooms. The staff provided very friendly service and were always smiling. It was a great place to relax. The live shows each night were amazing and the cast really put great effort into it.
